R Card? (Debate)

What I was "equating" was the ease in which these things - false ID's of any nature, really - are obtained.. Just so happened that those were the first to come to mind.. I guess you misunderstood..

Many parents really baby their kids and it's getting worse and worse IMO. At another board I frequent, a lady was upset about the subject matter of a thread because the age to register was 18 and her 18 year old was way too young to read such a thread. It was just a joking thread and not particularly racy but that aside when did an 18 year old become too young to read anything? I had to point out to her that people of that age could do anything besides drink alcohol.

Actually, aren't there also age restrictions on stock purchases? I seem to remember that one had to be a certain age to participate in some stock plans but that's been a while so I may be offbase.

As for the movie card, I see nothing wrong with that. These cards could be extended to movie rentals and video games too.

On June 20th, I'll be able to go to a non-alcoholic strip club, but I won't be able to buy lottery tickets. Dammit.

ok let me back up...

If they are as incredibly easy to get (and swap) as are phony driver's licenses and ID's for underage drinking, then I would definitely have a problem with it..

why exactly would you have a problem with it?

Huh? How old do you have to be to buy lottery tickets where you are?

Now, I may not get around much, but I have NEVER heard of a strip club that did not sell alcohol!

Because I could see it being abused (ie swapped back and forth) by some kids whose parents might be opposed to them seeing R-rated movies..

Of course it doesn't affect me personally at all - all my kids are adults now..;)

In Ohio, if you don't sell alcohol, the dancers can get totally nude. The one place in town that uses that loophole has a very complicated "private membership" arrangement, and a liquor store right across the parking lot that delivers for "members." ;)

In some areas it's against the law to sell alcoholic beverages in strip clubs so they have become "juice bars"..

because they are easy to duplicate?

If a fake ID can be made for someone to purchase alcohol, then a "fake R-Card" could be made. C.Ann is saying that if the card is easy to fake - then she would be against it.

makes complete sense to me

yeah i get that, i'm just saying the damage is a lot different if a kid sneaks into an r-rated movie or a kid gets himself totally wasted.

not to mention, it's a felony to have a fake id. i doubt it would be a felony to have a fake r-card.

I understand what you're saying, caitycaity.

Also, we don't prevent 16 to 20 year olds from having a driver's licence just because they could be duplicated and falsified. Why should R cards be different?

Is it easy to get a fake card if they used fingerprints on them ans scan like they do aps?

*sigh* My parents would have never bought one for me, so I don't think anyone should have one. ;)
