I am taking my son (14 years) and his friend to WDW in a couple of weeks. Since they are at an age where the eat a lot, I decided to give the QS dining plan a try. Anyone have suggestions for places where using this plan is a good value or any places that you know to have bigger portions (did I mention I am taking 2 teenage boys??? :rotfl2:) We are staying 6 nights at BLT and will hit all the parks (including wp) and DD at least once. Thanks!

Thanks!

I found the following places to be good value with slightly larger portions.

DTD-Wolfgang Puck Express Marketplace.Wow,this is fantastic value for a qs credit and lots of food.Highly recommend the meatballs,meatloaf+rosemary/garlic chicken+mash.Plus crème brulee cheesecake for dessert. You also get refillable drinks here.

AK-Flametree BBQ-You can get a chicken+ribs combo with a pot of coleslaw and a pot of bbq beans.(plus dessert+drink).

AK-Yak&Yeti-Food is served in the Chinese takeaway cartons.I recommend the beef lo mein and sweet+sour chicken with rice-ask for some plates to empty your food out onto if you have the chicken otherwise it's really hard to get to the rice underneath. We have a 13 and 9 year old and because its a lot of food we tend to share 3 qs credits.(plus dessert+drink).

MK-Cosmic Rays after 4pm(I think) you can get a chicken+ribs combo with mash potatoes and green beans(plus dessert+drink). There is also a fixin's bar,so you can fill up on mushrooms, onions, salad, hot cheese+pickles.

MK-Pecos Bill does a big 1/3lb deluxe cheeseburger with bacon,onion rings+bbq sauce,comes with fries and they also have a fixin's bar.(plus dessert+drink).

DHS-I tend to struggle with a good counter service here, but I would go for Starin Rolls, with large freshly made sandwiches on foccacia bread, ham or turkey, bag of chips or fruit, plus a cake+drink. The cakes here are amazing and large.

Epcot-Sunshine Seasons,i recommend the pork chop with bbq sauce and mash potatoes(plus dessert-which are also lovely here+drink which are refillable).

Epcot-Lotus Blossom Café-lovely Asian/Chinese food,i recommend Orange chicken+rice or Shrimp fried rice with egg roll,(plus dessert-ice cream+drink).

Hope that's helped you a little.x.

I'm not an expert but we found the dining plan, even QS, is actually a lot of food.

Places I was particularly impressed with for a QS credit were Columbia harbor house, BOG lunch, Flame tree BBQ, Boardwalk bakery, and the food court at POR. There are a number of places where you can get big platters of food for a QS, like pecos bills steak/chicken for dinner, or flametree, and there's a lot of choices like that in epcot.

Most Disney food is high quality and portions are large, we ended up with a ton of extra credits at the end of our trip because our group of three adults and two young kids couldn't finish three credits worth of food in a sitting.

Also snack credits go a long way if you use them wisely.

You know,i could have wrote this.We had qsdp last year for the first time and yes it was a lot of food for us.As I said previously sometimes we would have 3 qs between the 4 of us.Add in a few table services and our qs were piling up,so much so that on our last day once I had eaten my food at WGP I went to the front and asked the server if I could pay for peoples meals who were paying OOP,i was told yes and so I did.I used up 10 credits and I felt good by doing that(it saved wasting them, and the people were very thankful-although one looked at me like I was mad :rotfl:.We still came home with 5 qs credits.
One thing we never came home with was snack credits-we are still eating candy from Goofy's that we got last August.
Next year we have the DDP,i am going to come back a stone heavier than when I go :rotfl:.x.

Flame Tree BBQ and Wolfgang Pucks give big portions! I had a meal I couldn't finish at Peco Bills too.

Exactly, one of the biggest surprises for me after planning and reading extensively was just how much food there is on the dining plan, they make it sound like QS is just two fast-foodish meals a day, but really 8 QS credits and 4 snacks is easily three large, cant-eat-another-bite meals for four adults, and then if you do any table service at all they stack up more.

I think it's worse the longer you stay too, if you stay two or three nights and have three or four park days you might use all your credits, but if you stay 7 nights, and probably not do much on your travel days on a longer trip, you end up with just way more credits than you need.

There are table service meals that we just wouldn't miss, (at a minimum, Kona for breakfast and 'Ohana for dinner, plus character meals for the kids) so for us the DDP works better, but then it's even more food.

Kona is a great OOP choice BTW, if you have the QS plan and want to make one ADR for table service I'd go with Kona for breakfast, it's very reasonable for how good it is.

ETA-we stopped at Earl of sandwich on our way out last trip to spend some of our excess credits, and we weren't the only ones. We saw several people walk out of there with bags full of sandwiches and drinks and snacks.

MK - Cosmic Rays for sure, as the chicken and ribs, and the half chicken are quite large, and as others mentioned Pecos Bills etc.
WL - Roaring forks, you can get a boat from CR to WL and try it out, the food is quite good.
Various snack credits, great for different food items (even soup portions!).

My DS and Step-son have large appetites (pre-teen and teen hockey players), the portions they find are big enough, the desserts seem to help that way. I find sometimes they end up with mine!

Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD is the best qs I've come across and they don't skimp on portions either.

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I will print them in my trip file.

I agree that the DDP is a lot of food. We haven't purchased it since my daughter turned 10 but I thought it might be a good time to try the QS plan since I am going solo with 2 teens.

Thanks again!

Not sure about where you're staying but some if the resorts have a take-out pizza you can get which uses only 2 QS credits. You'll also get 2 desserts an drinks. That feeds our family of 4!

I didn't realize Cosmic Rays still had the chicken and ribs combo. So it is available after 4PM?

I wish Disney had a booklet of menus for each restaurant in the park. I'm doing the QS plan for the first time and I don't want to end up with fast food when there are so many other choices. It's overwhelming!

it's just my 15 yo DD and myself, she eats like a bird. But the QS dining plan lets me stop worrying about every time I have to buy something in the park. It will force us to eat better and really order what we want instead of worrying about prices. I anticipate bringing home lots of snacks, lol

Check out this website http://allears.net/dining/ It has the menu for every restaurant on Disney property.

I agree with EVERY ONE of these! I would have written the same suggestions. Wolfgang Puck Express is one of the BEST QS dining places on property without a doubt!
