:confused3 Last night I made pretzel wreaths and the kisses didn't soften that much. The only thing I could think of that I did wrong was that I used the milk chocolate kisses instead of the hug kisses. I put them in the oven for 5 mins. Then I got them out and tried to put a M&M on them and the kiss cracked. I did preheat the oven. I was so upset that they didn't melt. I was looking forward to them so much! What did I do wrong?

I make a similar treat, but the instructions are a little bit different. You might try it next time. I haven't had any problems with the kisses cracking (it does say the white chocolate will melt more quickly).

Bite-size, waffle-shaped pretzels
Hershey's Kiss or Hershey's Hug
M&M's candy

Step 1
Heat the oven to 170º. Set a number of bite-size, waffle-shaped pretzels (one for each treat) in a
single layer on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, then top each pretzel with an
unwrapped Hershey's Kiss or Hershey's Hug.

Step 2
Bake for 4 to 6 minutes (the white chocolate will melt more quickly), until the chocolates feel soft
when touched with a wooden spoon. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and quickly press an
M&M's candy into the center of each Kiss.

Step 3
Allow the treats to cool for a few minutes, then place them in the refrigerator to set, about 10
minutes. Place handfuls of the candies in clear plastic bags and tie on colorful ribbons.

I did them with the chocolate wafers I bought at Michaels/AC Moore and they melted super quick - 2 maybe 3 minutes. I think the kisses would take longer just because they are denser - maybe 7-8 minutes or so.

I had the same problem, however when I used the candy cane kisses they came out great! I wonder if its something with the plain chocolate kisses??
Mine cracked and the chocolate was so terrible tasting i threw them all away. Its almost like they were dry. When I make more i will use the hugs instead.

This may have already been said, but this is a super easy "truffle" type recipe:

Crush 1 pkg oreos (or the cheap brand of oreos)
Mix with 1 pkg cream cheese
Roll into marble sized balls. Chill for about 1 hour.
Dip in almond bark (I used white, then sprinkled with choc. in a zip lock bag for a nice look).

I'm bringing these to a Christmas cookie/candy exchange tomorrow night. They were really easy, but taste very very good! Also, I was thinking (but have not tried) that you could use the cheap peanut butter cookies or other flavors too.

A friend i know makes those and they are delicious. I found a similar recipe on family fun and it was for a bark recipe. It is so simple and quick. Line a pan with waxed paper. Spray non stick cooking spray. Break 20 oreos or another similar chocolate cookie into small pieces. Microwave 2 2/3 cup of white chocolate until softened. I used almond bark since i had it to make oreo balls. Stir in a tsp of vanilla and also the cookies. Once mixed, pour into the pan. I ended up taking another peice of waxed paper and flatteneing it. Put it in the refrigerator for about an hour until hardens. Cut into triangles or just break them off into pieces as I did. I put them out for my guests and they loved it.

That's what I was thinking. Next time I will use Hugs instead.

Thanks everyone for the tips!

I have made the pretzel wreaths for a few years now and have noticed the same thing re: the hershey kisses vs. the hugs. I think the hugs look nicer anyway ;)

You can also make them using Wilton candy melts in different colors..they melt nicely.

Rie's mom and lynxstch, thank you for pointing me over here. I would have never looked under the budget boards!

Ok, I thought I knew alllll about chocolate. I guess not! I have to ask, what are "hugs" and how long have they been around?

Does anyone have any easy no bake cookies? Seems like there was cocoa, oatmeal, peanut butter? Coconut maybe? and I am sure other stuff... but you boiled the concoction over the stove and spooned onto wax paper.

I looked online and year ago they would pop right up. HA! Not this time :(

They're Hershey's Kisses that are white and milk chocolate. They kind of look like zebra stripes. They've been around for years.

I made the pretzel wreaths today with Hershey's candy cane kisses. They turned out so cute with the red stripes, plus they are yummy! Very easy treat!

However, I attempted the easy turtles with pecan halves, caramel and kisses. Those certainly aren't easy! The melted caramel stuck to everything. With my last batch, I sprayed the cookie sheet with Pam and I also sprayed my knife before I squished the caramel. That helped a lot. But I don't think I will make those again.

I also made the peanut butter cookies with the peanut butter cup in them. Those turned out incredible! I used mini cupcake wrappers and I rolled the Pillsbury peanut butter into one inch balls (well, I had my boys do that!) I baked them for about 9 minutes at 350 degrees. When they came out, I immediately put the peanut butter cup in them then put the whole pan in the freezer for about 10 minutes. To get the cups out of the pan, I used a clean tweezer and it worked like a charm. YUM YUM YUM!

Oh, ok! Thanks! I've had them before. I must've torn into the bag too quick to read it.

You sound like my husband!

I made the pretzel treats tonight. We've eaten almost all of them

I made tons of turtles and I used a rolo candy cut in 1/2 on the square pretzel then added the pecan after they were melty.

Pictures. We need pictures. :goodvibes

I just found the candy cane Kisses tonight. I will be making the pretzel wreaths tomorrow. I couldn't find Hugs or round pretzels. But, I will make it work I tell ya.

Are the candy cane kisses candy cane flavored? Do they taste as good as I imagine they look? I don't want to sacrifice taste for looks on the pretzel wreaths as they are one of our favorites.

Bag of Chocolate Chips (mellted in double boiler or microwave)
Chow Mein Noodles (the thin crunchy ones)
Peanuts

Mix all together and drop tablespoons full on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Cool and serve or give as gifts...
