Update - Dentist just called and said not to bring them in. Yay !! Especially considering that I would ahve to leave in the next minute or two and they are not dressed and I am not near ready to leave the house.

Thanks for re-affirming me to do what I knew I should.

My two boys have dentist cleanings this morning at 8 am but both of them are sick. I thought it was just a cold but has gotten worse so I am thinking maybe even the flu ??

Office doesn't open until 8 am and there is a $75 no show/ cancellation fee under 48 hrs notice.

Do I make them get dressed and drag them up there (20-25 minutes to get there if I don't get stuck behind a bus) or just hope that they don't charge me since I call ed twice already this morning hoping they would be in the office early ? I have to leave soon.....

No, don't take them. If it is the flu you will be spreading it to many people. I went to a dental appt. ill one time and they were quite upset with me.

You have no control over this so call them and leave a message on their answering machine or when the office first opens and explain. Ask to reschedule in a couple weeks today so they know you are not just blowing them off. Hopefully they will not charge you.

Keep them home. Call immediately, leave a message or a message with the answering service. Call again at 8 to tell them again. I would not pay the $75 even if they charged me.

For cleanings, I'd let them stay home since you said they seem to have more than just a cold. Explain this to the office and hopefully they'll be grateful that you're staying home instead of exposing their entire office to something contagious. I hope your boys feel better soon!

I would try calling them again. I would tell them they have the flu. If they wont waive the $75(I assume this is per kid) I would tell them I am bringing the kids in and if the office gets sick - its on them.

yes, it is $75 per kid. Still getting the machine and I already left 2 messages explaining and asking them to call me back. I've never had appt's this early before so I don't know what time they actually get into the office. It open's at 8 am and the machine gives the dentist # as an emergency # but I don't consider this an emergency. I don't want to take them them, I also don't want to be charged either.

both have cough, runny nose, and fevers over 101.

I am sure they will not you to come in. And if they charge you it's time to find a new dentist. That's crazy. I am sure it's more for the "no shows" that don't even call.
Good luck and I hope everyone feels better soon.
