Questions regarding booking thru DVC or Disney

Hi,

I hope I'm in the right place for this.

We're considering renting points for a reservation at BCV for next January. I've read that sometimes it can be less expensive to book Friday and Saturday night through Disney.

How does this work? Do Disney and DVC work off the same reservation system?

For example, if I book Tues - Thurs nights through DVC, and Fri and Sat with Disney, will they be able to keep us in the same Villa during the whole stay?

Also, are there any other fees for the Villa booked with the points such as taxes?

I'm not sure how much cheaper weekends are booking with Disney direct, but I do know that there are no additoinal fees when you rent points from a DVC member for the room. Whatever points you pay for , that is the total cost. I would try to do the split reservation if you can save money and try to work with the resort about staying in the same room. Hopefully they will keep you there if it is the same type of room for both reservations. Goodluck,

Reservations made using points (DVC/MS) and cash (CRO) are from different sources and it's very possible you could have to change rooms and would be without a room from 11am until 4pm that day.

The resort may be able to link the reservations, but that is a request and won't be guaranteed.

People always talk about how expensive the weekends are. If you look at the number of points you need for one continuous stay, divide it by the number of nights you are staying, that's your cost per day. Don't look at it as $120 for Sun-Thur and $240 for Fri and Sat. Look at it as $154/night.

You will need to make sure you price out the weekend rates on points and then on Disney.com or a travel agent. From what I have seen on several occassions it is still cheaper to rent points. Friday and Saturday DVC points are usually at least twice as much as weekday but are still usually cheaper than getting the room from Disney. Some people rent a DVC room for Sunday - Thursady and then move on to a non-DVC Disney resort which is cheaper.
