Questions for SSR owners?

We just stayed at SSR last week during Thanksgiving week. It was our first visit there, being new DVC owners. I'm sorry to say that we were somewhat disappointed. Not having an excess in points, we stayed in a studio {myself, DH and 2 DS's}. MY DS's found the pull out very uncomfortable {hard foam mattress} and housekeeping was nice enough to supply an eggcrate matress to put on top of it. We visited OKW and found the 2 bed studios more to what we were accustomed to sharing {Caribbean Beach, Coronado, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge, All Star}. We asked for Congress Park and we were both far from the path to DTD and the main pool and restaurant{I think the second Congress Park building was closer to the path.
We also did not enjoy the food at Artist Palette and had bought mugs there which we barely used because having to walk through the parking lot and on the sidewalk towards the main building proved too inconvenient and tireing after being at the parks all day. We just didn't enjoy the walk along the main road.
On the plus side...our view was fantastic...DTD and we never had to stand in a crowded bus. The room was very quiet and the quiet pool there was just wonderful.
I am usually a very optimistic person and I was really excited about SSR. Unfortunately, it was not what we had expected. As it grows things may change but it was not a favorite for my family this time. We'll come back and try it again as it becomes better defined but we will be trying out some of the DVC properties.
Some people love SSR...it is really pretty...and give it a chance because you
may love it! It just wasn't a fit for our family.
