This might sound crazy, but I have NO CLUE as to what type of clothes to tbring on our December trip.

What I thought about bringing were jogging suits, jeans sweatshirts, hat's,gloves ect... I don't want to under dress nor do I want to overdress because I have "HOTFLASHES"!!

The last thing I want to do is strip my clothes off in the parks :o

Thanks

All I can say is be prepared for both warm & cool weather.

In 2000, we wore shorts the whole time...last year it was sweatshirts, coats & long pants (lots of rain when we were there too)

I've gone in December 3 times. We've always worn...

Sweatshirts, jeans, khakis, shirts layered

In Dec 2003: shirt, fleece zip up, jean jacket, scarf and gloves and still was feeling a bit too chilly. Sad that Florida gets that cold.

If it was warm enough for no jacket, it was only during the middle part of the day. Brrr...at night!:(

I've gone the first or second week of December the past 6 years. It can vary from highs in the 50's to highs in the low 80's (sometimes on the same trip!). I've had trips where I wore shorts everyday and trips where I did not wear them at all. The best way is to have a variety ready and watch the forecasts. If the highs are not 70 or above, I wouldn't bother with shorts or just take a couple. If the highs are 60's or lower, I would bring some warmer clothes, including a warm jacket and gloves for night. I remember our first day last year, the high was only around 50 and I went to MK for Wishes and I was so cold after dark even with a flannel lined denim jacket and gloves. A couple nights later I didn't even need a jacket for MVMCP, a sweatshirt was enough.

Take a little bit of everything and think layers. We often layered a t-shirt, sweat shirt and a light jacket, and shead and added as the day progresses. This past year was cooler but we only got cold one night and only really need a coat tha one night. We even wore shorts once and swam one day. The first year we went in January I packed full 7 days worth of all season. It really was bad. I have learned that a little of everything works pretty well. You can also throw in a load of clothes if needed.

We've been to Disney 3X in Dec. In year 1994 Dec 11 (honeymooned), I remember my husband and I was wearing jeans and sweatshirts. It was a bit cold. In 2001 Dec 7, it was just gorgeous, perfect! It wasn't too hot and wasn't too cold. Then in year 2003 late December, again the weather was perfect.

I say bring a jacket or sweater, this way when it gets chilly you just put them on. And bring one jeans and one long sleeve at night if it does get chilly.

Hey guys THANKS soo VERY MUCH for your help.

I really do appreciate you taking the time to answer my question.

GOD BLESS:D

I have to print out this thread for my group! We are going first week in December and NO ONE will believe me when I tell them to pack a pair of gloves just in case! I've never been in December, but have been reading about the weather in Orlando in December here and told everyone to sort of plan for both warm and cold and even to stick a pair of gloves in their suitcase, but they all think I'm crazy!

And I'm going to be in BIG trouble if the kid's can't swim while we are there! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Bring a little bit of everything!

In 2002 we were there around the 10th and the RAIN was incredible! MVMCP was a washout one night. Add to the mix that we needed our gloves one night, it got that chilly. 2003 was better, but still required a sweatshirt and a light jacket in the evening. I never did wear any shorts that weekend.

Have a great time, I'll be there again this year for MVMCP!

I've been there the first or second week of December, 9 years in a row. It is important to layer dress ! ( I'm into hot flashes, too) Don't wear anything hign up on your neck. For me, I bring all jeans - no shorts. Generally speaking , it doesn't get hot enough for the jeans to be too hot. Jeans seem "middle of the road", you know, for all kinds of in-between weather.
I needed my hooded sweatshirt for night time weather.
I *never* brought hats, scarves, or gloves. The hood on my sweatshirt was fine, and the sleeves on the sweatshirt are pretty long, so if it actually is REALLY cold ( very rare ) then you can tuck your hands under the sleeves.

What worked out well for me was: Just about dusk, I went back to my room, got rid of my sunglasses, and my sunvisor, and then just grabbed my sweatshirt and went back out.

It would be best to use the kind of hooded sweatshirt that zips up, * NOT * the pull-over kind.

And P.S. All pools are heated, and it is wonderful to swim at night, even when it is cool out. You just have to hurry up back to your room. LOL !

I've never gone in December (be going this year, though), but have gone a few times the end of January and once in early Feb.

First of all, I checked accuweather and weather.com so I would have some idea of the predicted weather before arriving.

We mainly wore shorts/capris and a short sleeve shirt most days. We would start off the day with a sweatshirt and end with one. There was only one day (this last Feb) where we were cold and had to have all our layers on. I also brought a pair of pants and I think a pair of zip-off pants. My sister had a Columbia long sleeve "sun protective" shirt with her, which she used a lot--good as an extra layer, and very packable.

Claudia -- Did you ever go to the water parks in early December? I know only one is open, but since their admission is a Plus feature option, I was wondering if we'd be able to use it?

WaltD4Me I wished I had listened to my mom when she told me to bring gloves for our December trip a few years ago. I ended up being cold and miserable, and I spent a fortune on a hat, gloves, and a scarf. The winters are terrible where I live so you can imagine how cold I was there. I would definately sneak some gloves in their luggage just in case ;)

December is a mixed bag of weather here in FL. and I would defineately bring some warmer clothes, but your best bet is to check the weather sites before you close that suitcase! I have been going to the MVMCP for years usually the first week of Dec. and more times than not it has been cold! I have actually worn a ski jacket to a few! Then the next day it was shorts and a T-shirt. Just because the temp maybe 50 it is not a 50 like up north, it is so damp here that the 50 feels like 40! I would rather be safe than sorry............most of the evenings you will need jeans and long sleeves.

Again I really appreciate all your helpful advice:D

I now know exactly what to pack. I might over pack as usual but from experience I know it's better to be safe than sorry.

Again Thanks

We went to Disney for 3 days in Decmeber 2003. We wore jeans and T-shirts with sweatshirts over them during the day--great weather! Once the sun started going down, it was COLD! In the 40s and very windy--I had a warm, lined jacket with a hood but no gloves, DH had a windbreaker but no hat or gloves--we ended up going back to our hotel by about 7 PM because it was just too cold to walk around.

I also pretty much have to agree with most of the posters above. You will run the gammit of weather in December.
Back in Dec. 2002, we arrived with a cold front and the weather was in the 30's at night for several nights and there was a night or two in there that I wish I would've had a pair of gloves. I must admit, the Mickey rain pancho's were pretty handy for holding in heat to the body as we had jackets but not heavy jackets. We also saw many people (especially kids) freezing and plenty of adults buying sweatshirts and jackets while there (some kids were walking around freezing in shorts at night at Epcot and it was easily 44 or 45 degrees waiting around for Illuminations). I have also been there when FL was experiencing a winter heat wave and the temp would be in the 80's and at night would only get down to 68 degrees and I stayed in shorts the entire week. Pack for layering and just remember you can always rent a locker to put a jacket in there that you may need to pull out at nighttime.

You've picked a great time to visit Disney so have a great time.

I can remember one December day that for me, it was hot enough to feel a bit sick. I also had gone to MVMCP in a long sleeve, black polyeester
shirt, and I was WAY too warm.

I can also remember one year that it was so cold in the evening, that I put 2 pairs of pants on ! I even used the hood of my sweatshirt and needed to tie it.

Lisa, I never did the water parks in December, but simply because I'm not interested in them.

We're going 12/3-12/11 (first trip), and I'm still packing bathing suits...I figure even if it is pretty cold, my kids will still swim. We visit our in-laws in upstate (near Canada) NY and my kids swim in a sping fed lake in May.

I'll definately be overpacking for this trip-trying to bring a mix of all kinds of clothes!:)

I was at WDW December 10 - 17, 2003. The temperature varied dramatically from warm and humid to very cold and dry. Go figure!

My night at MVMCP was December 11th, and I've no idea what the temperature was, but I froze! The CMs were wearing coats, gloves, scarves and stocking caps!

As others have suggested, plan layers. If you wear shorts or capris, take a couple pair (there were people at MVMCP wearing shorts and hooded sweatshirts to my 4 layers!) and tank tops, but mostly slacks or jeans with short and long sleeved shirts, one or two sweatshirts or sweaters (I'm taking a pair of sweat pants this year--just in case!), a mid-weight coat or jacket (don't need a ski parka!), gloves, hat, scarf and comfortable closed shoes.

Also, take some sort of skin protection for chapping, particularly at MVMCP. I had shea butter, but didn't think to apply it until after the fact! Quite annoying, as I keep a tiny tin in my purse and could have done it at any time during the evening! My face was sore the following day and a bit chapped for two days!

Most of all, enjoy!
