Question for the Guys - Why Is Ariel your Favorite? :)

Hi Guys, just curious about something. Among the men who express a preference, it seems that about 95% have Ariel as their favorite female character whom they find most attractive.

Is this because she:

1. Is extra young
2. Is a redhead
3. Wears skimpy tops
4. Has a fish tail instead of legs -- or do you prefer the Ariel version with legs?
5. Some other reason?

Or, if you do have a different favorite female character, who is she, and why?

Hi RickMickey, there was no systematic poll that I know of, but it's just what I've run across among various acquaintances. Maybe it will turn out that among guys responding to this thread, Belle is actually the favorite!

Belle has the complete package: she's smart and she's beautiful (but she doesn't know it). She wants adventure, but she is also very loyal. Many Disney female leads fall in love with princes who are very one-dimensional -- but Belle can see past a man's flaws (even when he makes mistakes) and sees the good in his heart.

Ariel is pretty as well, but was she not more of teenager prone to reckless decision-making? She's also a bit of a hoarder. Her longing to be a human betrays a lack of acceptance for her own people and her own body, perhaps even some self-loathing. She's willing to give up her ability to speak, for the promise of snagging a human man.

I'd say that Ariel is a one with whom you'd have a fun time, but Belle is the one you'd want to marry.

I definitely prefer Belle as my Disney favorite.
For all the above reasons..

I mean an adventurous book worm who see someone for who they truly are..
It doesn't get any better than that

Seems that all the Disney princesses have a small waist, so I figured there must be other reasons that Ariel's so popular.

But, today I learned that Belle is just as popular or more so, at least among this group.

And Bryanb, those are some good insights.

Yeah but the rest of the tiny waists are covered! Except Jasmine, but I'm sure they all love her too

Well, now I can officially say the correct answer: Leia...because I grew up at the right time, I was 13 when ROTJ came out. So she has always had a place in my heart.

But for a more traditional answer, Tink was always my fave, mainly because I grew up wanting to be Peter Pan, or at least a Lost Boy.

I actually never really liked Ariel. If she was a real life person, guys would consider her "HIGH MAINTENANCE" if she doesn't get what she wants, there is trouble. If you break a date with her, she would trash your car, or cause a huge storm to suck your house into the sea, something bad. Maybe some guys do like her because she wears some clams as a "swimsuit" top most of the time.

If there was one that in real life that I think would be a great person, it's Belle. Belle is very self-sacrificing, and always seems to care about others. She is also very smart, and imaginative. Someone

Tink of course has some anger control issues, but who wants a doormat? (if we wanted that, we'd read Twilight and like Bella).

Exactly, that brings us back to option #3 from the first post - that they like Ariel because she wears skimpy tops.

LOL this is a fun topic. Belle has always been my favorite (see my avatar; plus I have a Belle tattoo on my arm), but I have two brothers and a dad who will tell you Ariel is their favorite. I think it's the red hair and that she's petite and cute, and so awkward when she lost her voice. She was modeled after Alyssa Milano, so maybe that has something to do with it, too, since I know my older brother was in love with her when she was on Who's The Boss.

Yes... I completely agree. If she's willing to make a deal with a sea witch on impulse, out of spite for her father, who knows what else she might do? Of all the Disney princesses, it seemed she was motivated by the most selfish of reasons.
