I don't know. It's kind of nice to hand them the envelopes and say thanks and (at least in the before times) shake hands. But you're right, they aren't necessary if you aren't giving them cash.

Yeah completely get this and I think this is why I always hand them over - it may not be needed but its a good way to kind of say thanks and goodbye

Agree. It’s a way to say thanks and goodbye and a little more personal. Not necessary but always handle it this way.
