Question about Skyliner at Disney World

We are staying at the Yacht Club Resort in April. We have not had an opportunity to try the skyliner just yet. I guess my big question is;
Do you need to use a park ticket to use the Skyliner at Epcot (or Hollywood Studios)? Is the system basically outside of the park(s).
Also, how long of a walk from the Yacht Club to the Epcot Skyliner?

The skyliner runs outside park entrances. No need for a ticket untill u get to the park. The walk is 10 min max if your slow.
