I've heard that you can rent a DVC resort room at a discounted rate for being a member. Does anyone know how much of a discount this is? I don't know that I'll have enough points next UY for my trip. Thanks!! ::MickeyMo

For my May OKW stay, we like to stay 6 nights in a 1 bedroom, Saturday to Friday. Saturday is 48 points, Sunday to Thursday is 100 points. In order to stretch my points, I book Saturday night with the member discount and then Sunday to Thursday nights on points. It is subject to availability but I have been able to get it the past 3 years. It was $331 with tax this year and if you break that down, it's $6.90 per point.

I booked BCV on cash for the weekend middle of July. It was $220.50+tax DVC members discount. Annual passport rate is $219+tax. I decided to take the DVC price so I didn't have to report to the front desk in the morning to check out, then check back in with new keys. With DVC discount, it is looked as a one reservation though I received 3 confirmations from DVC. When I orginally made the reservation with cash at the 11 month window no members discount was avaliable but a few months later it was avaliable. It was even avaliable a few weeks ago for my July dates.
I stretch the points, too.

The member discount is 25% WHEN AVAILABLE. It's not always available and many times it isn't offered until a few months out. But even at rack rates, you may save if you can use cash for a weekend night. The benefits of renting through MS is that you will have a guarantee of not having to move on any combined (points and cash) reservation. I don't think you have to check in again either but am not certain on that one. Of course you could look at CRO with pass discounts and see if that's cheaper, it frequently is. But you can't guarantee not having to move units and you will have to check in again for the cash portion.
