My DD downloaded msn messenger on her computer. She has no sounds with it for some strange reason. When you open the sound properties, it lists messenger program but no sounds under it. When I went to the msn messenger folder in c:/program files/msnmessenger, they are listed in there. So I know they downloaded but didn't go in the sound properties for some reason.

Can anyone help me out? ;)
Thanks for any tips you can offer.

Hmmm...I don't have sound with MSN Messenger and like it that way! Oh, I get it if someone signs on, that's it though. With AIM the sound was driving me nuts! Had to shut that off! ;)

Maybe some systems just don't then. Thanks for letting me know.:D

You've probably already checked this but:

From the MSN Messenger window (I have 6.1)

Tools>Options>General Check the alerts "Play Sounds" options

Click on "sounds" and make sure the volume is not muted

Click advanced there to check the volume controls aren't muted.

On the sounds tab if you scroll down you'll find sounds for MSN Messenger.

Dumb question but does she have a sound card & speakers on her computer? If she has sound is the volume turned up to hear? Also check that the computer's sound isn't muted.

I did both. She had sound for everything but that.
Who knows....She'll have to use it like it is. It's beyond me!!;)

Thanks for the replys.

I'm not sure if you followed this but after following Kirk's advice, click on the button for Sounds. Make sure the volume level is high and not muted. You can also click your speaker button from there to make sure the volume is high and not muted as well. If that doesn't work, I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you.
