Question about Exotic Rasul

I want to surprise DH with some type of "spa service". He likes massages, so I was thinking of the Villa for 2. But now that I am reading these reviews on the Rasul, maybe I will book this with a couples massage. Can anybody comment on the Villa for 2? Which did you like better. Can we book services back to back (making it a 2hr spa experience vs. two visits with 1 hr each)?

Loved the Villas!!! I thought it was awesome. We got a pretty good deal once on board. I think it was around $250. It was so romatic and relaxing. I loved the rasual too so we did this toward the end of the cruise. If you wait to book ( like on day 2-3 of the cruise you can get a pretty good bargain, that is if you can go on the spur of the moment.) We did the rasual for about $50 because we waited to book on day 2 and did the rasual on the way back from CC.

Can you tell me more about waiting to book spa services? Sounds like they lower the price is that correct? I'd like to try the Rasul for sure but I might be willing to gamble with some other services.

Can you control the heat and humidity inside the room? My wife can get somewhat dizzy if it's too hot or humid. I thought that we might still try it if we could control these.

Thanks!

I'd like to know too. After a few minutes in a sauna, I have to get out and cool down. I heard there are showers. Is it an option to just go over there and cool down with cold water?:confused3

Ditto here,
I've booked the Rasul for us on our Feb.25 cruise, and I would also need to cool off in the shower if it's really hot in there. Any info on this would be appreciated.

Can you take an ice cold water bottle in with you. Granted it won't stay cold for long but it would help me stay cooler.

The sauna area can get pretty warm, but the outside room right outside the sauna room is a great place to cool off. That is where they keep all the lotions, mud and towels. It is also where the shower is. I definitly used the shower to help cool down. I also recommend keeping the sauna door open a little to help control the heat.

Once on board there will be announcements every once in awhile about spa specials (these usually start the 2nd day of the cruise). Also go to the spa on the 2nd day to see if there are any specials going on, because sometimes they don't announce these things. I didn't know this information the first time we were on the Magic but I certainly used this information on our 2nd cruise. You can also get some great bargains if you are willing to stay on the ship during port days. We did this on our second cruise. We had a late shore excursion so we booked the villas on the morning of St. Thomas. We loved that option because while everyone else is trying to get off the boat we were up in the spa enjoying the villas.

It's actually a steam room (wet) as opposed to a sauna (dry) It did get hot, but as other posters said there is a shower outside the room and there are also showers inside as well as hoses in each seat with cool water that you can keep running. That helps keep the temp down. DH and I just did this on the Wonder and really enjoyed it. Also prebooked and paid $83. Spa menu price is $99. We had no sales pitch, but no freebies either.

Mary- Thanks! I see you're doing the Goofy in 2008. I did it in 2006! Good luck w/ your training! I'll be having a spa treatment on the Wonder while you are gettin' Goofy!

Hi,
You may want to wear a suit INTO the spa room (and then remove it for the lotions/mud). I thought the robes are sort of skimpy (and I'm a size 6). I'd have felt a bit self-conscious wearing nothing under my robe during the walk down the hall from the locker room to the Rasul room.

When we checked in at the spa desk, the attendant gave us 2 keys - one for DH's locker in the men's room, and one for my locker in the women's room. Then, after we were changed (into swimsuits and robes), an attendant came to get each of us and walked us down the hall to the Rasul spa room.

It was very steamy - we also tended to leave the steam room propped open to the shower room, or else we couldn't see anything (like even each other! :p )

The door locks, so no one can 'walk in' on you. The knock on the door we got was LOUD. we both jumped!;) It is booked an hour, but by the time you change before and after, we weren't done for over an hour and a half. I think you get an hour 'in the room' maybe? We didn't have a watch, so I don't know exactly. Afterwards, we didn't receive any gifts, but neither did we get a sales pitch to buy anything.

For the rest of my trip report and pictures, see my link below!
(don't worry, no Rasul's pictures!) :rotfl2:
Have fun!

Thanks for the encouragement! My DH decided he wanted to do this for his 40th birthday and somehow my name got on the list too:confused3 We will see how this will all work out. I can guarentee you that I will need a spa treatment after this!
