Hi All! I'm new to the boards...and I am planning to have my wedding at the Swan and Dolphin. I originally wanted a DFTW but my guest count is over the escape maximum number. A wishes wedding doesn't seem like it would work out b/c DF and I are set on having our dinner reception at Shula's afterwards...and we have been informed that it can't be counted towards the minimum $10,000. I have a question for anyone that did a Fantasmic dessert party without going through DFTW. I'm having extreme difficulty getting in contact with anyone to get information about pricing, etc. Everytime I call they take my info and say someone will give me a call in 1-2 days..but they haven't yet. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks for your help!:)

Hi purple250,

I am having the exact same problem!! I've spoken to 4 people so far at WDW. The first person told me all people had to be staying on site or you couldn't do it, so I gave up. Then I posted on the Dis and was told that you didn't have to stay on site. (Love the DIS!) So I started calling around again...even talked to the food and wine person for Epcot. She told me she didn't know who the right person was to talk to and to try the main WDW-DINE number. Going to try that out next. Please let me know if you have better luck!!

Cheers,
Jen

I'm having my reception at Shula's as well! I'm having an Escape wedding at Disney and then over to Shula's... LOVE IT !!!!!!!! I'd love to hear what you're doing for it!!!!!! I haven't meant someone who has done a Shula's reception yet.... yayayay!

Hey Jen54321...Here is the number I called about group sales..800-327-2989. They knew exactly what I was talking about when I requested more info on the dessert party. The lady on the phone took my info and said some1 would be with me in 1-2 days. After the 2 days went by and I didn't hear from anyone, I called back and the operator sent a sales manager another e-mail. The sales manager called me back and set up a date and time that would work for me to discuss my questions in detail. I haven't heard the rule about everyone having to stay on WDW property...I hope its not true because I have a few guests that live in FL and will not be. I will check with her on Tuesday and let you know....But just be persistant and keep calling! It seems like its the only way to get in touch with anyone!

Hey Decemberbride! We ate at Shula's about 2 weeks ago when we were at Disney and absolutely loved the food and the employees! They were soo friendly and extremely accommodating. I haven't book anything yet...just waiting for the planner to call me back to sign a contract. They give you so much food for your money too. Have you looked over the different menus they offer for group events yet?

I've already signed a contract with them, as well as sent my deposit. I've picked out the menu and we're having a signature cocktail for the cocktail hour and then we're picking the wine list in the next three months or so... I ate at Shula's alot with my dad and we love it!!!!!!! We're a meat eating group what can I say!

Called the 800-327-2989 number....they asked if I was from Florida (I'm not) then they asked if we are staying on property (we're not). That's when she said it can only be booked if everyone is staying on property. Such a bummer! I'm not sure what I am doing wrong....maybe it's because I am not a Florida resident?

Have you had any further luck Purple250? I think you will be ok if the majority of people are staying on property....

Jen

I thought that anyone could do a dessert party as a magical gathering?

I am REALLY interested in hearing more details about your wedding though, as I am doing exactly the same due to guest count, and I also want to have a dessert party! :hyper:

Does anyone know who normally handles magical gatherings? There is a dis'er out there that knows, Ive seen pics of some beautiful parties....I hope someone can help~!:confused3

Do you have a planning journal ?? When is your wedding? :goodvibes

Unfortunately, you have to be staying on property to do a Grand Gathering.... they have a dinner and dessert party package for about $60/person. You have to have at least 8 people, and there will be other Grand Gatherings groups there too. THe number to call is 407-WDW-MAGIC. :thumbsup2
