Question about DDE card activation

I know it is good for one year but when does that one year start?

Does it start the day you order it or the first day you use it?

The day you order it.
Although when you receive your card it most likely will list an expiration date of a month or two beyond when you ordered it.
It now takes awhile to actually receive your card. So they pad the time we assume due to the processing time.
Meanwhile members receive a temporary letter in the mail if time allows. Otherwise members pick up their letters outside of Epcot.
