Question about check out and Magical Express

My husband and I are considering taking a trip to DW in August. We'd like to stay at Pop Century again and we're likely flying Delta.

My question is this - our return flight home would be Saturday August 25, leaving Orlando at 5:30 pm. I know check out is around 12, but that's a lot of day to waste, in my opinion. Would I be able to check our luggage with Magical Express at Pop Century in the morning, visit a park, come back to Pop and get on the Magical Express bus to the airport?

Absolutely. If you have a Delta flight at 5:30, DME will want to pick you up around 2:30ish. You should plan on being back at POP by 1:30, so you can get any carryon bags you have left with the luggage people.
Now....since you are flying Delta, you will be able to use the RAC system at POP. Head there early on your departure day, around 6:30ish, since I don't think you can check your luggage more than 12 hrs ahead. They open around 5. Bring all your luggage to be checked with you. You will find the desk right beside the luggage office, to the right of the main entrance to the lobby of POP. They will need to see everyone's ID, just like at the airport. Then, they will tag your bags, the ones being checked, and give you your boarding passes. Tuck those someplace safe!! Give the luggage office, right there, any carryon bags you may have. They will give you a claim slip for them. Then, go off...enjoy your last day. Get back to POP around 1:30, go and get your carryon bags, relax and then board the DME back to MCO. Just head directly for the security area...you are already checked in.
You will see your luggage again when you arrive at your home airport. I love getting rid of it at the resort. So nice.

We used the POP luggage check-in last time we stayed, but we had a very early flight so we just got right on ME from there.

One last question - I thought that little luggage check-in place was only open from 5am to 1pm? Where do we pick up the carry-on bags we left at Pop, if we arrive back there after 1 pm and the luggage check-in place is closed?

It's the luggage checkin desk for the airport (RAC) that's open 5-1. The luggage service (Bell Services in the deluxes!!) is open 24/7. You can go there at any time to get your stuff!! These two areas are right together so I can see how someone might be confused.

Excellent! That makes so much sense. Thank you so much for the help - it will definitely make our trip that much better. We're from Oregon and I normally like to fly late at night to arrive early in Orlando, but this time it's not going to work that way, so our first day will only be a half-day. Having another half-day at the end is very nice!
