Question about booking @ 11 & 7 months out?

I was wondering if Member Services (or DVC for that matter) allots a certain number of rooms for both home resort guests booking at 11 months out as well as non home resort guests (other DVC members) booking at 7 months out at any given DVC resort? The reason for my question is because I do know that a pre determined number of villas are available on cash to both DVC and non DVC members. Hope this question is clear enough to understand. It confuses me a bit .

First, there is no "pre-determined" number of villas held back for cash reservations. Cash availability is primarily created when DVC members use their points for non-DVC options and then CRO uses those points for cash reservations and from Developer owned contracts gained thru ROFR and foreclosure.

By the same token, the number of villas available for point reservations is based on the DVC Member Inventory at each resort and when that inventory has been depleted, no more reservations are available. In some cases, that can even be right at 11 months (in the case of scarce villa types like HH GVs in the summer months and BWV GVs and standard view studios). No rooms are held back for non-home owners to reserve at 7 months - thus the purpose of the waitlist.

However, the dynamics of the DVC reservation system are such that most types of villas can be reserved within 7 months much of the year.
