Question about "All-Star" or competetive cheerleading

While flipping thought the channels the other night, we came across a cheerleader competetion taking place in Orlando.

There's no denying the athleticism and skill required to do these stunts, but what's the deal with the over-done makeup and crazy faces? These little girls looked like tramps.



It just seems to cheapen the sport.

I know for performing on stage the make up needs to be heavy due to the lighting and to be seen on camera. I dont know about the crazy faces though, Ive never really watched it.

competitive cheerleading combines dance and gymnastics and requires flexibility and rhythm. you can actually win college scholarships for cheerleading.

and teams are judged on appearance as well as performance, by the way.
