Question about adding resale points to my current memebership

If I purchase a resale at my home resort with the same UY as my current contract can it be added to my current membership number? Will all the points be pooled together or is it like having two different contracts? I'm confused.

yes, a resale can be added to your current membership number so that it is easier to manage and you can pool the pts together.

you would just need to make sure disney knows early in the process that you are already a member and want the resale contract treated like an add-on.

I just did this with a different home resort and same use year, I got some advice from a few people here to make sure Disney Recorded it correctly. I notified both the closing agent and the real estate agent of my current membership and membership number and when I sent the closing docs back, I called DVC member admin and gave them the info as well as the contract number for the contract I was buying. and DVC member admin noted it. Disney put in in their system this week and it was added to my current membership.

Correct. Each UY is a separate master contract.

And in all cases, same Use Year or not, add-ons, whether through Disney or resale, are legally separate contracts and can be sold separately in the future.

But for practical purposes for Member Services, reservations, banking, etc., contracts with same home resort and use year function as a single contract.

Remember also that the ownership must have exactly the same names as the current membership for this to happen. If you're thinking of adding an adult child or similar, either plan for it to be totally separate OR change the name on the current contract prior to the resale going through.
