Good morning. It is 70 now with temps heading to the upper 80s. Yesterday was a hot day. Unfortunately we did not get any rain which we do need. But tomorrow should be cooler. My allergies are acting up so I took some sick time yesterday and did some chilling out and self care. I have worse allergies in the late Summer and Fall than in the Spring. Kenny and family are back from NH today and I will be heading over to see them. It was so hot in NH all they did was the water park and the pool each day which they do love.

Off to work. Have a good day.

It's now 71 here and says it's going to 88. 88 is better than 98! Anyway we did get some rain after 5 or 6. There were also some thunder rumblings but nothing particularly close.

DD made dinner, Hello Fresh burritos of some kind and DGD's who spent the night, declared them delicious and ate all of what was on the plate. I had an alternative meal as I prefer more veggies or in last night's situation, all veggies. Not a big carnivore, but DD is.

Yesterday I was planning to take the grands to Target for some back to school stuff (It's tax free week here) but we had company for most of the afternoon. Maybe I'll get them there this morning.

The younger cat (12ish) in my menagerie is getting aggressive towards the 16 yo female Persian. She is just 16 this August and only weighs 6 and a half pounds. Perfectly healthy so far, but has been trying to spend more time with me so he's jealous and territorial.

They each favor certain people and areas. He goes into my room and has a mat on my bed. The oldest old guy (17) mostly stays upstairs and comes down to eat and to sit in the bay window for a bit. Persian took over the cat tree and doesn't share it. Sleeps at the top during the day, sleeps in the enclosed lower box at night and poses on the other shelves as she feels up to it.

We keep two litter boxes, one in an upstairs bathroom and one in the seating part of my kitchen where no one sits since I have a litter box there. We eat at a table in the 'old' kitchen away from the newer and double the space kitchen. Only Persian should be using that litter (minimal waste) but big guy comes down and dirties it up when he feels like it. I'm scooping it whenever it has a deposit.

Anyway, DGD's started planning their breakfast and asked for Panera and I said ok. "But, I was planning pancakes and eggs and I can switch.' They quickly reversed on Panera as they love my pancakes and scrambled eggs.

Right now they are still asleep but I will start the batter in a few minutes after I unload my dishwasher (it usually gets run overnight).

Target opens at 8, I believe, so I doubt we will get there early, but maybe by 9ish. After that, I would like to do other things but somehow I believe I'll probably be at the whim of the girls whatever that may be. I don't mind as time gets short so quickly and it's best to make good memories while you can.

@Snowysmom , I hope your allergies don’t bother you as much today! Here it’s 75° and heading into low 80’s. It was very humid yesterday.

@Judique, enjoy your special day with your Grands!

My sister, Tom, and I went to the pool yesterday morning, and only two other friends were there. We love it when that happens, and it feels like we have a private pool!

I have a mammogram scheduled for this afternoon.

I enjoyed a steamed lobster from Shop Rite with my sister and her friend’s family yesterday. The watermelon was so red and tasty! We have gotten good ones this year. And the Jersey corn was sweet! Nancy has a covered deck, so, we ate outsde, and a hummingbird visited while we were eating. It was our first hummingbird sighting this summer!! I guess we just weren’t out at the right times this year before!

Enjoy your day!

In other news, a friend and her mate who need a bit extra cash have agreed to do a full cleaning job on my kitchen. It's too big for me as I have 10 ft ceilings in there, fans that need cleaning, glass fronted cabinets, exhaust fan over the stove, exterior of appliances that need the stainless application, hardwood floor, shelving, sitting area, granite cleaning and her mate will also get to clear my sink drain. Plus 3 sets of windows. I wrote down what I need so there are no surprises for them. Oh yeah, I have a ton of glass backsplash.

Insides of the big appliances are fine as I run self clean on my stove and recently cleaned my fridge interior and the dishwasher including it's filter which DD didn't even know it had.

There are a LOT of cabinet surfaces to clean which is what is also difficult for me and too high. I'm just not doing the step ladder anymore. The last cleaner emptied all the cabinets and rewashed the dishes that weren't dirty but she insisted. (I do tend to use most of my stuff and it goes through the machine.)

We will also be sorting for donation as I have too much stuff, and this friend is merciless when it comes to clutter! (I need that right now!)

I was definitely hoping for some of the "rain in spots" - and we didn't get it either. :( I'm usually a sunshine girl, but everything is just so dead and crunchy and dirty right now, that even I would like to see some rain.

Nothing much going on today, just some household stuff to do/arrange.

Good morning all.

Bring on fall! 🍁🍂

As much as I LOVE summer I'm about ready for fall myself! All of my porch planters & hanging plants are starting to look a bit bedraggled & dry no matter how much I water them so for me that time of late summer where I toss those dead & dying plants seems to coincide with my readiness for fall!
nyway we did get some rain after 5 or 6. There were also some thunder rumblings but nothing particularly close.
We got some heavy sprinkling for a while, and a fair bit of thunder around 930ish, but no real rain. Did you see the flash flood warnings ? Sounded like the Western Shore north area was going to get a fair bit of rain, but I didn't see that anything came of it this morning on the news, unless I missed it.
We will also be sorting for donation as I have too much stuff, and this friend is merciless when it comes to clutter! (I need that right now!)

Oh man, I could use that as well. I'm good with clearing out my kitchen, but horrible about clearing out clothes. I need to get rid of a lot.

Well here we are, mid-August already. My husband and I were just talking last night that we have so much going on between now & the end of March next year that it will be mid-April before we know it! Today is our anniversary, 32 years if my memory serves me correctly. I feel to young to have been married that long - guess that is what happens when you get married at 20  . We decided last minute to head up to the Lancaster area tomorrow for a spot of shopping. There is a Orvis outlet up there my husband likes to go to before vacation, and last time we went up there in August it was a weekend and super crowded. I'm guessing a Friday might not be much better, but oh well. Saturday we are taking a boat ride to Oxford, MD. It's about a 2 hour ride there from us, and we've hardly used the boat this summer, so we are going to head over there, have some lunch - that sorta thing. Next week I've got to go to Minnesota for work Tue-Friday, then the following week I'll be in our NC office I believe. Then it'll be Labor Day weekend and we haven't got anything great & exciting planned. Pool time, probably get crabs, and I've got about 7 or 8 hours of time to spend in the fields on the tractor that I'll spread out - half Friday evening & half on Monday morning.

Spent some time removing some furniture from my office yesterday and generally started doing a clean up & de-cluttering. I'm terrible about filing or scanning stuff in so I did a lot of that as well.

We did book our annual 'long weekend' to WDW in early Feb. I put long weekend in quotes because it has morphed from a weekend to going during the week to lessen the crowds, so this year I think we are doing a Tues-Sat 4 night stay. Been trying to get GF for years now (via renting points) but because we can't usually book very far in advance we haven't been able to get our hands on a GF studio BUT we did get our hands on a Poly Studio! Poly & GF and the two resorts we haven't stayed at yet and really wanted to, so I'm looking forward to trying out Poly. Probably will go down to Ft. Myers beforehand to check in on the old folks and make sure they are behaving themselves. They just came home from Bermuda, and they are joining us in Scotland next month. They like to keep busy & keep moving, and we like to see them doing just that as well.

Time for a cup of hot water - I used to indulge in two cups of coffee a morning but had to go to just one, so I replaced it with hot water, at least on days when I'm in the office. It helps. I've got to get a few returns packaged up and out the door as well, so I'll say good by for now. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying these last days of summer. Pea - thinking of you & hoping your recovery is going well.

Good morning. We had thunderstorms yesterday afternoon and a good 2 hours of soaking rain, which was badly needed. More rain next Mon, Tues, and Wed if they are right. Going to be 88 today.
So far my planters on the back deck are still thriving and sending out lots of flowers. I have 3 big square planters with tomato's, the one with the Mr Stripey in them have all of a sudden gone crazy, they are about 4 feet tall, and loaded with flowers, and some huge tomato's. I've only picked 4 ripe yellow tomato's so far, this weather has had weird effects on everything that's growing. My Mimosa tree has already bloomed and the flowers have fallen off. My Autumn Joy Sedums which aren't supposed to bloom until the end of Sept are blooming. The Echinacea have already bloomed and died off. My roses are doing well, lots and lots of flowers.

Summer is supposed to stop by today to pay me back the money for the phone, we'll see if she does or not.

Have a good day everyone

Happy Anniversary easyas, and Congratulations to grandma dazed! :goodvibes

I’m home from the hospital now and catching up on sleep. Mona will appreciate this - my roommate was 88, confused, did not speak English and famous for jumping out of bed to go to the bathroom without her walker and before anyone came in to help. So guess who had to help her? Yup, yours truly, lol. I could not let her fall. But I think in five nights I only got at most 2 hrs of sleep at a time, if that, with all the interruptions, noises and alarms, etc. Vitals at 4am and usually the surgeons coming around to examine me right after that, so I’d just stay up. So when I got home I literally passed out on the sofa, and spent yesterday resting. I missed my boys so much. DH said Toto especially was out of sorts.

I know what you mean about the flowers getting a bit long in the tooth this time of year. Mine are looking a little frazzled. I really feel like it’s the rain that starts them looking bad. I took to moving my plants in (or at least to the porch w an overhead) if it was raining out, but that kind of got away from me a bit. We are supposed to get rain later today so I may have to move them this morning after I water them. I know people whose flowers still look gorgeous so I’m not sure what their secrets are. We have gotten some good things from our garden - zucchini, lots of tomatoes, a beautiful pepper, and some delicious strawberries. DS’s girlfriend’s kids helped pick things from the garden and the little girl enjoyed helping me water while the little boy dug in the dirt. :scared: I’m watching them tomorrow from 9-3 so we’ll probably do that again and we have some other things planned (nails, possibly Sound of Music, breakfast for lunch, etc., glad DD is off so we can tag team).

Well I have to get this day started. I have a lot of things coming up medically but I’m too weary with all of it to even get into it here. We are supposed to be going to Disney next month and I’m 🙏 I can make it, if nothing else happens. This summer has been weird for me. For much of it I haven’t felt well, between chemo, surgery, inability to swim afterward, and now hospitalization, so now it’s almost over and we’ll soon enough be back into winter again. 😬 I mean, every day I count my numerous blessings, but I guess I’m just a little sad that summer’s almost over and I spent much of it in the house feeling crappy. One for the books, I guess. Still praying that everything turns out ok long term.

Enjoy this Thursday, everyone. 🐣
