@footballmouse, hope you feel better soon!

We are home. Yesterday was the shortest driving day and we were home by 2:30. I texted our house sitter that we were home and she said she was just coming over. Shucks, I have asked her to come in mornings, so birds and fish have a schedule. I will mention it again.

It’s beautiful, 63. Like many places we can use rain.

Tonight there’s a city meeting about the flood plans Murphy wants to put into place.

Just getting back to doing home things. My amaryllis bulbs are ready to start the resting period. I have had them drying out for two weeks now. Remarkably some pots still have a bit of moisture. We put them into the unheated attic for two months or so. I look forward to February or March when some will bloom again.

Good day all!

It was hot here yesterday too. Indian Summer we always called it. I’ve told this story here before but when I went in to the hospital to have my twins it was in the 70s and I had shorts on. Ten days later, when I came home, it was in the 30s, and DH had to bring me some warm clothes and a jacket!

I try to enjoy it while it lasts, cause soon enough it’s going to be :cold:again!

I did a lot of cooking yesterday for my kids’ bday party and it was so warm, I was all sweaty! 😅 Kind of beat today. (Should’ve ordered pizzas!) But it was fun, DS’s gf’s kids played in the yard, then we ate outside on the deck (a little disappointed with how my beef stew came out, too liquidy, more like a soup, and didn’t like the beef cuts, ugh, but others enjoyed it; everyone really liked the Mac n Cheese). After that they (big kids and little kids) carved pumpkins. Aldi’s had massive pumpkins for just $3! DD’s boyfriend had never done one before so it was an interesting experience for him. They used sponge bob cutouts. It got late and dark out, so we saved the S’mores for another time, but we had birthday cake and ice cream before people had to get home on a school night. Kids are so cute! I think they are getting to like coming over here now, too.

I wanted to tell people that if anyone has a trip booked using Southwest, to check your fares as there’s a sale going on. I was able to get a credit for $90 and DS got one for $100. Hurry and do it today!

Footballmouse sorry to hear you’re sick. I would say retest, but if they did it at the clinic it probably really is negative for Covid. Sounds like you need bed rest, fluids, and some chicken soup for a while!

Lynn, I hear you. When food is off it turns you off for a while. And of course a negative association if you happen to pick something up and symptoms appear at the same time you eat something. I watch so many things on IG about food that I don’t wonder about people getting sick from it and am surprised it doesn’t happen more often! 🤢 Oh, and forgot to say, I absolutely LOVE your angel picture! You should frame it. 🙌

I hope everyone has a good rest of their Tuesday! 🐥 And a nice week!

Hello everyone, it has been really beautiful the past days. Today is a bit cooler and cloudy, had a very brief shower about an hour ago. I was going to mow the lawn but now have to wait and see if it drys.
DS was here on Friday and then went camping Sat/Sun. He woke up on Sun. morning and could barely move his neck. He stayed over and called in to work Monday. We both assumed he had slept funny and pinched a nerve.
Monday afternoon he started getting a sore throat and decided to test. Yup, positive for Covid. Still not sure if the neck thing is related or not. He left to go home so he didn’t expose me any further. So I’m waiting to see if I get it too. This would be my first time so maybe I am due😳
Footballmouse….. Sorry to hear you are sick, hope you feel better soon.
Lynn… glad you are feeling better… Dsis and Bil both had a terrible stomach flu this week.
Mona… you inspired me and I ordered a humidifier today. Hope you are having continued progress.

Health extra prayers with love to all of dear you! The humidifier is a perfect size and very quiet, too. God has blessed me with wonderful hearing, so I do hear a light drip here and there. So far, I absolutely would recommend it. The only "catch," is it does take distilled water which we think only comes in a heavy 1-gallon bottle. Dad said it wasn't easy for him to pour the water into the machine, but we could always get a smaller container. We are also going to try a funnel for ease of water transfer. We are going to try using regular water because it sounds like that is okay as long as you clean the humidifier more often. Further updates to come. Have a good night everyone:grouphug:

Dazed I hope your DS feels better and you do not get covid. Glad you are enjoying nice weather.

Flyingdumbo127 Glad you like your humidifier. I use filtered water as I have a filter pitcher so it is easy to do. The gallons of water are hard to pour from and lift for sure.

Pea The party sounds like it was a nice time for all.

Good morning. It is 51 now with temps again heading to the 70s. Tomorrow it is supposed to cool down a bit to the 60s. Sunday looks to be the coldest of the week with temps in the lower 50s here. The grandkids have soccer that day so it will be chilly watching them play. Sunday night is forecast to go down to 30. Then warming up again. It is crazy. Yesterday I did get to the lake to walk. Jeff heads home from Las Vegas today where he had a conference. Kenny is in San Diego for a conference and a bit of sightseeing. Even though I don't live with them or they don't live with me any more I miss them when they are far away. Tomorrow I am in the office, leaving early to finish up with the root canal tooth. My regular dentist will be putting in a permanent filling. He says it only takes about 20 minutes. Hopefully this does not become you need a new crown. The other dentist told me he did not damage the crown so the filling should be all that is needed.

Off to work. Have a good day.

Good Morning.

I was told to work from home all week so I don't spread my germs. Normally I would be thrilled for that, however next week I need to work from home 2 days instead of 1, plus I have a vacation day next Friday. My newest cat, Tiana, is getting spayed next week and she has to stay overnight at the clinic so I need to pick her up the next morning. I'm sure this is going to go over real well at work. Too bad.

During the day I think like I'm getting better, I feel much better but that's not the case. By the end of the day I'm exhausted and feel like I've been hit by a bus. The mornings, OMG, I feel horrible. This needs to pass more quickly. I'm hungry but just don't feel like eating, I'm tired of soup.

Instead of watching TV yesterday/last night, I actually read. I'm so close to finishing this book and it's due back to the library on Friday so I'm really making an effort to finish it. I should be able to finish it tomorrow, today/tonight is a good TV day.

Have a great day!

Good sunny morning. Our last 'warm day' for awhile., 62 tomorrow.

Summer texted me last night that the garage had 2 different mechanics test drive her car yesterday and had no issues with the transmission at all. They checked the fluid and it was fine. She's afraid to drive it now. I'm sure she didn't imagine the way it was the other day, but if the garage says they couldn't duplicate the problem, then what does one do?

I'm off to the market for a few groceries, which I'm sure will empty my wallet more than the same items did last week.

@footballmouse - Feel better!

Have a good day

Happy Thursday!

Went to work last night at the hospital. I picked up a 4 hr shift for last night about 4 weeks ago. Wasn't too bad, kept a mask on as much as I could. One of the OB techs that I was working with was running some jobs she found by me to get my opinion. She found a couple of decent ones that I encouraged her to apply for. She mentioned that she needs to work on her resume so I told her to send me what she has and I'll fix it up for her. Couldn't sleep when i got home so at 1:00 am I'm sitting in my bed putting a resume together for her. It looked 100% better than what she had. I was talking to the other tech and she mentioned that she read how you're supposed to use certain words (now known as soft words) in your resume. Luckily I have a list of those words and other tips saved on my computer. After I finished with the resume, I sent this girl the tips I had. Everyone is looking for a job so I figured I could help some of the people who ask.

The coughing started last night when I tried to sleep. Had to go get another pillow so I wasn't laying flat. Hopefully this heals up quickly, I'm taking Mia to the pumpkin patch on Saturday.

Mitchell went to Evan's game last night since he needed help with Mia. I gave him the run down of things we do when I go to the games. After the game he said that he won her 2 balls and a stuffed rabbit. He played the claw game for her. Great, now when I go, she's going to want to play those games.

Watched Survivor last night, happy with who went home.

That's about it, have a great day!

Good morning. Fall definitely moved in overnight. We had an out of nowhere thunderstorm at midnight, and this morning the air is crisp and clean. Only going to mid 60's today. Definitely going to close up the AC today, done with it for the year.

@footballmouse Very happy with who went home. He was the most arrogant, conceited, self absorbed person. He thought he had the vote in the bag, he was totally blindsided and I laughed.

Did errands and grocery shopping yesterday. Summer went with me and all I heard were sob stories. You have to file unemployment in the state you worked in, so he had to file in Illinois. He had some kind of meeting about it yesterday and they denied him any unemployment. The foreman of the company told unemployment that he was fired for insubordination. He said the same thing about every other person who was working on that crew. That was an out and out lie. They weren't fired, they were laid off, and given no idea of when they might be called back. Her husband starts his new job next Thursday, but she has to drive him to KY, or possibly TN.

They were counting on the money from unemployment of course, and now it's non existent. They're living on what she's making with her job, which isn't much. I filled her gas tank for her and bought her a few things she needed at the market, but she's going to have to figure it out. All of the kids are working so they should be helping out.

Off to get to cleaning. Have a good day

Good evening hug dear friends. We now have two identical humidifiers. One will stay here in the back room where I spend most of my time and the second will be used by dad's bed and by our kitchen table when we are eating. Not 100%sure yet we will keep both but it is very handy having two.

Distilled water is the safest way to go. It does only come in a gallon bottle. Dad, has $2 at Rite Aid which is less than 5 minutes away from us. He will look there for a small pitcher or other container to make the water easier to pour into the humidifier. We can get the gallon bottles delivered through Instacart (Ralphs Boost) Dad, as an fyi, to any of you thinking of purchasing this humidifier learned it takes 24oz of water to completely fill it. It seems to last a long time. I will have a better idea next time its refilled and I make a note of the time. Dad also spoke with a helpful customer service representative from the manufacturer as he had a question. That is good to know, too.

As an O/T but related aside, dad made the mistake of getting a case of distilled electrolyte water. This is NOT recommended for humidifier use! He jusat saw "distilled,"and the 16.9oz bottles. We didn't want any of dear you to make a similar mistake.

Humidifier update is that 24oz of water lasts a good 12 hours. Google told me there are 128oz in a 1 gallon bottle. 128÷24 is 5 full humidifier refills+possibly an extra 1/3. I will update on this as we go along.

I did reschedule Vivian for next Thursday.

Hugs with love to all.

Lynn I hope things work out for Summer. It is unethical that the boss told unemployment everyone was fired for insubordination. He should fight that. You are right, the kids should be helping out and Summer may need to find a way to supplement her income too. It is tough now and even though they say there are alot of jobs out there people are saying it is not easy to find a new job. Alot of ghost jobs out there.

Footballmouse I hope you are feeling better. It seems like that cold is going around here too. Jeff and his family have it now. Ellie was out of school for 2 days. Mia sounds like such a little cutie.

Flyingdumbo127 I hope the humidifiers are working out for you.

Good morning. It is chilly this morning, 40 degrees with temps going to 60 or so. I had my heating system maintenance done on Wed along with the water heater. I got contracts which includes next year's maintenance as well as priority scheduling for any issues and discounts on parts and service. The price for the contract is what they charge for maintenance so I would pay it anyway. Yesterday I was in the office for a bit and then went to my dentist to have the permanent filling put into the crown. I so hope I am all done with dental issues for now. I rescheduled my cleaning for May when my new benefit year starts. I already paid alot out of pocket.

Off to work. Have a good day.

Good morning. 33 overnight with a slight frost. Going to be 62 today. I'm going to have to give in and turn the heat on tonight. It's darn chilly in here this morning, thermostat days 62. That would be fine in the summer, but I had to turn a space heater on just to take the chill out of the kitchen so I could feed the cats.

I don't know what I'm going to get into today. I already took the last birdbath down and set it in the sun to dry, it had ice in it this morning and I don't want the concrete to crack. I guess I'll cut the peonies back too.

Have a nice day
