Good morning

Just a quick update - Dad is back in the hospital in the ICU. Mom thought he had a stroke, thankfully not that, but his blood sugars dropped to 30 and they can't get them stabilized. He is also hallucinating, somebody is trying to kill him and if they bring him a cheesesteak we will know who it is. I leave for Disney in 3 days and not sure if I should go now.

Prayers would be greatly appreciated.

@tazdev3225 Oh no. So sorry to hear about your Dad. Many more prayers said. I hope they can get him stabilized quickly

@Snowysmom I'm glad your first night went well. Just settle yourself in a little at a time and do things at your own pace. It will feel like home before long.

@Pea-n-Me Glad that Toto is doing better.

It was chilly all day yesterday and today will only be 57. It's too early to turn on the heat, but Don was chilled yesterday so I brought up one of the heaters we used to use when we heated the house with the wood stove and it would get chilly. He watched football all day yesterday. I put a fleece blanket on the bed last night when I went to sleep, and didn't open the window for the first time in weeks. It was too cold!

The walnut tree is empty! I went out this morning and not one more of them on the ground. Thank God, my knee and back couldn't take much more. Now I just have to get hold of Darryl , to get hold of his nephew and ask him when he's coming. It's supposed to rain next weekend, so that will probably be out. He has Fri,Sat, and Sun off, so that's the only time he can do it. The rest of the time he's working with the tree company

I have nothing on my 'must do' list for a change, so I'll putter around and find something to keep me occupied

Have a great day all

:grouphug:🙏❤️Taz, a ton all-around. Many, many prayers.

💕Snowysmom, I am very grateful night 1 is behind you. So many prayers your new place absolutely brings you further peace along witha new friend or two, as well!

Footballmouse💒:cheer2:and a hug, my friend. Congratulations again to the bride and groom and of course you and all your family!

Lynn, I LOVE that you have a blank must do 🗒️list! Hooray. Finally, lol! REST.

Thanks everyone so much for all your extra prayers, love, and slipper/shoe suggestions. Amazon will be delivering these pink slippers by the end of today. These are the slippers I have in the bigger size that work for my right foot. Should I need to mix and match I will. God willing, one day, when I am able to walk normally and easier again, I will a absolutely keep an eye out for crocs and croc like shoes in stores. I sincerely appreciate all of you always, you know that, and that recommendation. For now, I desperately, as all of you know, need a slipper that will start helping my poor feet heal. I absolutely am not intending ever to complain. I pray to give thanks in all! I will say, for sure as a human, hurting feet is no fun! I also know how graced I am to have feet period and that I can even move them on my own :)

I received incredible early morning customer service from our local Sprouts. I called the ask whether they had restocked my favorite 🍎sauce. A super kind grocery department worker named Tabitha told me she had anticipated either dad or I calling sometime soon and had already put away 6 jars for us! Plus, she said the store has 6 additional jars for sale on the shelf! So very nice! Dad will be going there shortly. 99 Cent Only Store where he is going this morning as well, is across the street--convenient indeed!

ETA: I finally tried on again my brand-new Easy Spirit Romy Sneakers They are wonderful. Definitely much more cushioned (even on the inside sides) than my old Skechers. I would definitely recommend! I do have a brand-new never worn (no box or receipt anymore) of Skechers. I may try to find someone local who could use them, maybe give me something for them. Not sure they would be good for me to wear at this point. I am thinking my feet from here on out need the extra support. Looking for something similar now for dad that is also amde by Easy Spirit.

Hugs and love, Happy Monday to all! 🐥💛

It's too early to turn on the heat

That's how I felt this morning so I pulled out a long robe and stayed in night clothes till about 11am. Meanwhile it was 65 degrees in here, so I decided to bake cookies.

When we make cookies we usually freeze most of the dough and bake a pan to eat.

This warmed me up quite a bit, and after I ate lunch and then some cookies I was fine.

Dressed in jeans and flannel shirt so very comfy. Now its 66 degrees in here.

Later this week we are going up as high as 75 degrees.

Today is the coolest day so I'll resist turning on heat.

Taz So sorry to hear your Dad is back in the hospital Prayers that he can be stabilized and get better soon.

Thinking of Frog and Dazed. Hoping for peace and calm.

Good morning. Cold morning here again. I have my heat set for 65 and so far it has not gotten that cold in here. My smoke detector starting chirping yesterday morning around 6:30 and got more frequent. I was so surprised as this is a new place. Kenny was off and came right over to change the battery. My kids do not want me on a step ladder and I am not fond of that idea but I would have if I had to. He changed the battery in the other one too. It was a cheap no name battery. Those detectors sit in warehouses for years. Then at work one of the programs I use I could not log into. I was in it earlier in the morning. I need to wait for tech support. It was not the best day for sure. And I need to stop watching the news. The events in Israel are so horrible and appalling that it just gets right to my soul. I have to just take little bites of news here and there and pray for the innocents.

Have a good day.

Happy Tuesday :sunny:

Working from home today and tomorrow. :thumbsup2 I'm "attending" an on-line conference, not sure how this actually works but we'll see.

Got on a shampoo study with P&G for the next month. I have to use a particular shampoo that they give me, wash my hair on certain days between a particular time frame and then return to the facility once a week for them to swab my scalp. For what they're paying me, I'll use the shampoo. It looks like it's one of the Aussie shampoos.

Made a couple of pork chops in the air fryer and some green beans, it was fine.

Is anyone going to take advantage of the Amazon Prime Days today and tomorrow? I don't have anyone's Xmas list yet so I don't know how much shopping I'll do. I have some ideas for Mia so I'll hop on to check if any of those toys are on sale. She also has a birthday party coming up next month. What I was going to get her, Bailey's mom bought the same thing last week. Not too happy b/c I mentioned what I wanted to get her to Bailey back in August. 😠

Oh well, time for my conference. Have a great day.

Good morning. Rained overnight, temp is 44 now, but they're calling for sun and 65. Going down to 35 tonight. I opened the kitchen door last night to take in the dry cat food dish, and the kitten (no longer a kitten), came into the kitchen. She found a catnip mouse on the rug and played with it for 2 hours. Had herself all rolled up in the rug, having a ball. She stayed in all night, until 6 am, when I was woken by the sound of a cat meowing in the master bath. We have a baby monitor in there in case Don needs me and the other unit is next to my bed. I got up to see what her problem was. I'd never heard her meow until then. She went to the back door so I opened it to let her out. She went out, turned around and came right back in. By then all the others thought it was breakfast time, all the indoor ones and 3 of the outdoor ones. I fed them all and went back to bed. She came in the bedroom and started meowing again, so I put her outside. She's going to have to learn that it's either stay in, or stay out, it's not going to be a revolving door. I'd rather have her in, but I think it's going to take her a while to figure out it's warmer and drier in here, lol

I took the trash down and put blankets on the porch chairs for the cats for tonight, 35 is a bit chilly to be sleeping on an open porch.
Nothing else new

@footballmouse thanks for the reminder about Prime Days. I'll look, but I'm not really looking for anything in particular. Usually just buy what we need when we need it. It's going to have to be something really good to get my interest, lol

Have a great day

Good morning!

I do have a couple of big purchases on Amazon I have to get. What are the benefits of Prime Day again? I am combining DD’s bday and graduation gift, she wants an ice chopper for her new apt. And we’re pitching in and buying DS for his bday a mini iPad for flying planes, lol. (I should buy myself some Valium for when he’s up there!)

I thought we were headed to the ER last night with DD with appendicitis. She’s showing some of the early signs, but she wanted to wait it out. (Nurses!) Hopefully that’s not what it is. Her graduation is coming up.

Btw @footballmouse, I hate when people do that! Next time, lips are sealed, now that you know! That happened w my SIL with her other SIL on a baby name! DD and I bought some baby things for my neice who is about to have her first baby any time now. It’s the first baby in a long time on my side (we have two on DH’s side, now 6 and 4). Niece lives out of state so that made it really easy. The baby’s bday will be around the same time as my kids’. We got her the type of snuggly teddy bear she herself had growing up, a portable high chair (that was on her wish list), and something really fun, a baby Ugg hat and bootie set - definitely a splurge but we couldn’t resist, it was so cute!

Yesterday DS asked me to sit in on an informational zoom for one of the career paths he’s considering. It’s amazing how much simpler things are today with some of this stuff. In our days we had to actually call and then visit these places, right? Today it doesn’t matter how far away the place is, you can still communicate so easily! Walt Disney would really have been amazed with the technology of today. Anyway, it went well, and was good for me to understand. He is still waiting to hear from at least one other. Then we went out to breakfast and ate outside, it was such a beautiful day, about 65 and sunny. He was very animated and happy talking about the possibilities, but there are still practical considerations (those pesky little things like cost and logistics). DH talked to him later and said much the same thing I said, which was good, because DS knew we hadn’t had a chance to talk about it ourselves together. He will work it out.

Snowysmom, I’m glad the biggest problem you had was the smoke detector, and that Kenny was able to fix it without too much trouble. Happy for you.

Taz, sending good thoughts and prayers for your Dad. His course, unfortunately, is not uncommon. Problems tend to snowball in the elderly, and prolonged problems cause more problems. It’s so hard on everyone. I met an elderly guy yesterday walking the dogs. I thought his dog was going to pull him over. We got talking and I asked him about his eye that was bruised and bandaged. He was apparently in a store and he tripped over a pallet, dropped like a sack of potatoes and landed on his head. They insisted on calling 911 but he didn’t want to go to the hospital. (Of course, right?) But he finally went and they had to do a head CT, etc. Fortunately he was ok, but the way he told the story cracked me up. I told him his story is not uncommon, and that he has to be careful! In one ear and out the other, I’m sure. I wanted to suggest he needed a walker, but there’s no way he would use one. I do worry about him though, the dog, although adorable with a nice personality, was young and had a lot of energy! I hope I see him again.

Well got some things to do around the house today before a small work stretch. It‘s cold in the house and I had to put on a sweatshirt this morning. I hate that new thermostat the guy installed last winter, it’s too complicated to use and I always screw it up, so basically, I can’t turn the heat on at this point. (Weird, ik, where I do operate life saving equipment! Lol) Seems like the AC was still on until a couple of days ago. It’s that time of year! I’m sure I’ve told you guys this story before but when I went into the hospital to have my twins I had shorts on. Ten days later when I came out, it was in the 30’s and DH had to bring me warm clothes to wear. Always happens around now or a little later.

I hope everyone has a good Tuesday! 🐥

Good Morning Friends,

First of all: :bday:Dear Pollyannamom🐣❤️May today be a lovely new beginning of a healthy and happy year ahead my friend, thinking of you!

💛🙏a whole ton dear Taz. Peace, always to you, too. May truly you extra know Christ is with you. By His Grace so are we! We CARE!

Definitely also thinking of and praying for AuntieMe3, B&B (Long time, no see), Carol, Dazed, Frog, and Kirby!

Prayers extra for your daughter, Pea! I will be looking on Amazon, too. Dad and I did order on Walmart this morning a new phone for me that is coming tomorrow. We wanted to be sure and have Allstate (Square Trade) Protection on it this time. I hope you find what you are looking for on Amazon and at a good price.

I decided to keep the bigger pink slippers. The smaller size is too small. Praying these do move my feet more healing forward. I also rescheduled my dentist appointment to next week. God willing by then, I'll be walking a bit better!

Love to all always. I will check back later.

Good Morning

Just a quick drop in, I have been reading along but just really busy getting ready for my trip. The house is clean, did the monthly deep clean this morning before Jim got up. Laundry is all that is left but that will be first thing tomorrow and then I will finish packing. I have most everything together.

Today is the bank to get my debit card straightened out. I don't know if I mentioned it was frozen over the weekend and of course after the bank was closed for the weekend through Monday. I'm glad they did it though as the card was somehow hacked. Then I need to change the modem for the TV. It keeps going offline. It's a simple fix though I just take it to the Comcast store, bring the new one home reattach the cables and call for the signal. I need to get Ella this afternoon and then take Mikey to the foot doctor. I'll start packing tonight while Chewie is downstairs, she gets upset when she sees the suitcases coming out.

Funny story about Chewie though. As soon as I am up in the morning the cats and Chewie want their treats. They get them and water, I make my coffee, get Jim's meds out and then take Chewie for her walk. Lately there has been a black cat hanging around my house. I know she belongs to someone because she has a collar and an ID tag on, but I can never get that close to her to see where she lives. Anyway, this morning we went through the routine, and Chewie and I headed out for her early morning walk. Chewie took one look at the black cat and froze. She refused to go on her walk and turned tail running right back to the house. Chewie is a small dog and lives with TWO cats, but she is terrified of this poor cat that is smaller than she is. It reminded me of one of our dogs we had when my kids were small. We had a 60 lb. Brittany Spaniel. We rescued a stray cat that Jim's boss was going to kill. That giant lug of a dog was terrified of the 10 lb cat and the cat knew it. She would sit on the steps and dare Lad to go upstairs. Lad would just sit and cry until we moved the cat. Dogs can be funny sometimes.

And now the GOOD NEWS! Dad may come home today. Best anniversary present ever for my mom and dad. They were married 68 years ago today. It turns out the issue was one of his diabetes meds. He has been on it for years but the doctor told my mom that what happened isn't uncommon with this particular med. They switched it for something else and he was doing great by the afternoon. If he stays stable over night he will be home today. To celebrate mom is getting him a cheesesteak for dinner. She won't let him eat the whole thing but he has been craving one since this whole ordeal started.

Hope you all have a great day

I don’t know how I missed it but Happy Birthday, PollyannaMom!! 🎈🍁🧁

Taz, glad you can now concentrate on your trip! :goodvibes We admitted a patient the other day where we had the same problem with the (really) low blood sugar (30s) for hours and hours. If it remains an issue there are newer monitoring systems that go in the arm that help with the management of sugars. Good luck. Your dog/cat story made me laugh!

:grouphug:Taz and extra, extra praise to God! Congratulations to your parents, too. PM me if they would enjoy a note :) I love your dog and cat story! May I go with you and Mikey to the foot doctor? Prayers indeed for him, of course and always for dear you.1 Truly may ::MickeyMobe FUN.

Love the ducky picture, dear Lynn!

Prayers always along with thank you too, for all the love and kind care you give so many, dear Pea!

QOTD: Tell us a little about your parents’ personalities!
I found out at my mother's funeral that she and my dad were considered the fun aunt and uncle when they were younger.
My mom was kind hearted and a champion for all animals. She loved babies and enjoyed talking to people. She was patient and kind, she loved her whole family with a passion. She sent everyone birthday cards every year up until the last couple years of her life when it got to hard for her to write. She loved sending my dad's sisters birthday cards and letting them know how old they were, they made a fuss about but they enjoyed getting them. I grew up hearing her sing silly songs and telling stories of her childhood in the hills of West Virginia on a farm near Elkins. She took care of a lot of people in the family in their last years while taking care of my dad. He began going blind due to a hereditary disease in the 60's. It was a slow blindness which took over 30 years before he was fully blind. He was also partially deaf which became worse during his last years until we could hardly communicate with him. They were married 67 years.
My dad loved talking. He got along better with women than men. He enjoyed handing out peppermints to the older women at church. Growing up we loved to hear stories about the 25 cent hamburgers he used to buy and roller skating in Dallas with his sister. He used to go to visit his aunts in Hallsville, TX during the summers and eat vegetables straight out of the garden. When he got to where he couldn't drive anymore, he began walking in a local park and made many friends there as he walked with them on the trail. He loved to read and talk about the books he read. And once he couldn't see the print anymore he got books on tape from the Texas State Library in Austin. My dad always told my mom thank you after they ate for the food that she had prepared whether it was a full dinner or just a sandwich and chips.
My parents loved each other so much, the way they showed it to each other was a great testimony to our family and friends.
Slippers extra blessing thanks to God, I like both.
I'm so glad that you have found some slippers that you like. I, too, had feet two different sizes and have difficulty with finding something sometimes. Plus I have narrow heels which don't help. I like Asics in tennis shoes and I have a pair of SAS loafers that are real comfortable, they come in narrow.
We hope to be able to do more sleepovers once in a while.
I look forward to that one day.
I will take what I can get when I can get it. I got used to going places with them and it was nice.
It's been a real struggle with the Carol and kids gone. I really miss having them around. But they are settling in their home and making a life there for themselves which I am happy about. It's what we were striving for, just happened a little differently than we wanted.
I think making friends in the new condo will make a huge difference. Try to take advantage of social opportunities there (whether that means organized events or just coffee with a neighbor) and give yourself the grace to not be comfortable YET without discounting the hope that you might be eventually.
Good advice!
Only picked up a pail full instead of a wheel barrel full, lol
It's been a light year for our pecan trees do the squirrels and crows are eating them before they fall while they are still in their husks. We have three trees producing now and we are going to get any at all.

The BIG excitement for the weekend is that my nephew was attacked by a BEAR!
Oh no! So glad to hear that he is okay and his injuries are not worse than they are. That must have been truly scary!!!! What a story he will have to tell around the next Boy Scout campfire.
Good morning. First night in the new condo. I was able to sleep a bit and my new shower is very nice. But, I wake up alone and I go the bed alone and I am alone in between. That is the problem.
So glad to hear that your first night was good. Joe went on an overnight fishing trip with James last weekend. I'm not real good with being by myself overnight and thought of you.
And now the GOOD NEWS! Dad may come home today. Best anniversary present ever for my mom and dad. They were married 68 years ago today. It turns out the issue was one of his diabetes meds
So glad to hear!!

Hope this finds everyone well today. I'm stuck at home with Covid. I think that this may be day 4, I have had symptoms for at least that amount of time. Did an at home test Sunday and Monday night, both said positive. Should I let my PCP know I have Covid? Don't know where I got it. I don't know of anyone else that has it. More than likely at the grocery store.

The weather has been so good. No more temps above 90 in the forecast. The state fair is going on at the moment. Would love to go but don't think I will make it this year.

Always a blessing to hear from you, Kirby:grouphug:I'm so sorry you are dealing with Covid on top of everything else. Healthy and of course, you know this, happier times prayers.

Thank you for your beautiful share about your parents. I love that your mom so enjoyed cards and how swert that your dad gave out peppermints at church. There's a Love Inspired book series I enjoy where a small town minister gives peppermints to kids at church :) Grandma loved SAS. So glad you like yours, my friend.

Always prayers for peace and joy to all of you, especially your precious grandkids.

So sorry to hear you have Covid, Kirby! Yes, let your PCP know so they can note it in your medical record.

I enjoyed hearing about your parents, thanks for sharing. They both sound lovely. I love that your Mom really loved animals and that your Dad met people on the trails. Sounds like the man I met yesterday!
