We managed to get the deck part done, the ramp and railings will get done tomorrow. We were working in 50 mph wind gusts. Then it started raining, then the sun came out. Then it rained, and now the sun is out. Dave left , his back was sore. The couple next door rent, and the landlord had a new roof put on last year. Well half the top roof just peeled off, there's a hole in the wood that whoever did the roof never put wood over, and they only knew about the roof because rain was coming in their bedroom. The landlord thinks he can just pull it back and tack it? That's not going to work when these high winds are supposed to last until 2 am. I told him if he wants it fixed right, I know someone (Dave) that does metal roof's for a living and he won't charge an arm and a leg to put a metal roof on. I gave him Dave's number in case he's interested.

Off to fix some dinner and take a long hot bath. My back is sore too. Pressure treated lumber is heavy!

As I was driving to Kenny's yesterday he called me to tell me to look in the back yard when I got to his house. There was a surprise for me. I could not even guess what it was but lots of guesses about what I did not want it to be. I looked out in the yard and he got me a bird feeder. He knows how much I miss feeding the birds and seeing them around.
That was so sweet of Kenny! It made me tear up a bit. What a sweet gesture. Great children you have. ❤️
Thank you, dear Pea for your 🦶information. Dad does have a pumice stone and uses lotion every night after his shower. He wore his new 👟this morning and liked them. He's had calluses for quite a while now and we know it's not good for him to keep relying on the cushions. :hug:I'm sorry you get them, too. Thank you for bringing fun and cheer with treats through the Easter bags.
They don’t bother me much, they actually protect the feet. Runners get them, too. Or in my case, being on my feet and running around for 12 hrs at a time. I don’t have any foot pain so they are serving a purpose! Glad Dad has a stone!

Lynn, glad things are moving along with the deck! You’re giving Dave a workout!

Well I woke up today to DS and DH starting to tackle the downstairs family room. They invited me down to look, but once I started “inspecting” they told me I could go back upstairs to have my coffee and donut! :lmao: (I can take a hint, and honestly I didn’t want any part of cleaning it out anyway! It’s mostly DS’s stuff from his college apt and all his many years of baseball uniforms and all that, so he made the decisions of what to do with them.)

Tonight we made a salad that I’d seen on IG, I didn’t like it so wound up throwing some salad dressing on and it was good that way. Then we made a Mexican spaghetti and Mexican corn. I liked the corn, but the spaghetti I could only take a couple of bites off. I might’ve filled up on salad. I put it aside and maybe later I’ll see if I like it better. Everyone else loved it, including DD’s boyfriend, who had two plates full. I’m finding that the dishes where you put spaghetti or other pasta directly into the dish (rather than boiling) don’t sit well with me. I guess I’m used to and prefer regularly cooked pasta. Not sure it would‘ve made a difference in this case, but something to think about. That ravioli dish we made last week was the same way. We said if we make it again, we’ll boil the ravioli first.

QOTD: Are you old fashioned about cooking pasta and cook it in water? Or are you following the new trends of adding it directly to dishes and letting it cook that way?

This was the Mexican Spaghetti dish

Wishing everyone a nice Sunday! 🐥 I have to get a haircut and we might run to Lowe’s to look at some paneling. I picked out a nice light gray last time we started doing this (nothing like the old dark browns we grew up with) and I really liked it, hoping they still have it. We’ll work around that. DH wants to re-insulate behind the walls, it gets a little chilly down there.

@Pea-n-Me That spaghetti looks so good. I love anything with black beans and cheese.

Lynn I hope the work gets done soon so Don can feel safe leaving the house. Dave seems like a good worker and a good person to be so helpful at a good cost.

Thinking of Kirby, Daxedx3 and Frog.

I am going back to the condo today to vacuum and pick up a few things. I miss my hair brush and want that one only. I miss a lotion I left there too. Then I will go see Jeff and family. Kenny was out walking yesterday and snapped a beautiful picture of a cardinal at the top of a tree. He texted it to me so I can always look at it. Maybe I am making him look an listen to the birds more. He could use that as a way to stress less especially with the job he has.

I ended up going on a mini shopping spree at Kohls yesterday. I had 30% off and another $5 so I decided to look for some spring/summer clothes. I got 2 pairs of capris that are actually more like crop pants on me but I like the look. I got a pair of shorts and 2 shirts. I am good for a while. I have only denim capris and wanted some cotton ones so I was glad I went.

Have a good Sunday.

Good morning to you all. Just a quick pop in to say hi.

Figured out, for the most part - what I want for the flooring downstairs. Went out for lunch w/ eldest & his fiance since we were all headed the same direction while out & about yesterday.
We had some strong storms come thru yesterday evening. It got sunny, then dark, then torrential downpours, then sunny. Then Thunderstorms. It was quite spectacular to watch. We sat on the porch for about 2 hours as the weather changed and changed again. Today it remains quite windy, but the sun will be shining all day at least. Reports of a tornado and/or extremely strong winds touching down in lower Delaware, so I need to check in on our two jobsites down there.
Today we are doing a lot of work outside, including bringing down a silo, so it's time for me to get dressed and get moving.
QOTD: Are you old fashioned about cooking pasta and cook it in water? Or are you following the new trends of adding it directly to dishes and letting it cook that way?
I usually always pre cook my pasta in water, although I have used the non need to cook first lasagna noodles once or twice. I prefer to boil...with that being said I don't think I've ever made any recipes that feature using noodles not cooked.

Have a good day everyone!

Good morning.
The weather sure changed. Even with the wind and rain yesterday, we got to 75. It was 34 this morning and is only up to 38 now. Going to 56, but it's going to be a little uncomfortable working outside to finish the deck. That wind played havoc with my back and knees yesterday for some reason. Even after a long hot bath, I had trouble falling asleep.

I expected to find a ton of branches down this morning, but when I looked, there weren't any. I had picked up a few during the afternoon and that seems to be all that came down. I am really surprised that we didn't lose power, we had gusts up to 60 and it felt stronger than that. Dave and I almost got blown over a couple of times. The poor cats outside are mystified as to where the deck chairs went. I put them in the shed or they would have blown away. I found 2 of the cats sitting on my herb box, straining their necks to look through the kitchen windows, lol. The little orange one was sitting on the deck. I almost didn't see her, she blends right in with the wood. 2 of them refused to leave the front porch, and the last one was afraid of the deck. It took me teasing her with treats to get her to come up on it and eat.

@Snowysmom --That is so sweet of Kenny with the birdhouse. It made me tear up too. The dog made from Chris's shirt, wow. We all know he's watching you and he's sure sending you signs!

QOTD about pasta. I cook pasta the way it was meant to be cooked. I tried the no cook lasagna ones once, and no one like it at all.

Have a nice day

Same. It makes more dishes, but it tastes better.

DS was up early today on his day off, so we all went out for breakfast. It was fun!

Good Morning and start of Holy Week blessings to all who celebrate as well,

I'm looking forward to shortly watching Palm Sunday🌴 worship⛪. Later dad and I will be calling our cousin Ruth to wish her a happy birthday. Always a blessing to get to talk with her and Steve. I don't make much pasta anymore but always did boil it in water as does dad now :) ITA with you, PollyannaMom:hug: that making something fresher may take longer but often that makes the food tastier and healthier as well. Besides adding extra care and love to any recipe be it for a food or daily living only brings about more smiles and good cheer.

Lynn, 🙏 that Dave is able to safely come, and that Don will feel comfortable getting out. You please just stay out of what sounds like crazy wind!

 Pea, I'm so glad your calluses don't cause you any pain, praise God! I was exhausted almost ten years ago at my first Candlelight Processional at DL standing around for going on a couple of hours hoping to get a chair (I did) These days I would not care to do that or be on my 🦶for 12 hours! Extra thank you to you and Footballmouse for all you give of yourself to so many. Please always remember to take care of YOU. Both of you!

:cheer2:that you treated yourself to some 🛍️Snowysmom. Thank you for encouraging your son to listen more to the 🐦I pray doing so brings him greater peace and stronger faith as I also pray the same for dear you.

Have a great day, Easyas! I'm so glad you got have dinner with your son and his wife to be last night. Please you also stay out of any storm 🌧️ or otherwise!

Happy Sunday to all! I will check back later. 🌸

Good afternoon all...boy, have I been in a grumpy mood the last two days. :sad2: Dont know why, just am. Luckily it hasnt been directed at anyone, just feeling it inside. I guess it's a good thing DH hasn't been home so he hasn't had his head chewed off. :rolleyes1 Went to the Farmers Market with my friend, Ana and her momma. My friends husband works with DH so he has been gone too and Ana's daddy(our friends son) was working as well, just not with our guys. LOL We all got some food, found some shade and at in the grass for awhile, then walking around the market again beforewe headed home. Beautiful, beautiful day, It was actually almost hot...lol It helped my grumpiness a bit but still feeling it. Came home and tried to take a nap but keep getting text messages about the family Easter dinner and then DH called so I just got up. Oh well...lol DD and I watched some TV together and had leftover pizza from the night before. I tried to go to bed early but couldn't fall asleep.

Dolly had me up way earlier than I would've liked this morning so that might be why I'm still grumpy again today. We just spent a good amount of time outside this morning, her running around and me soaking up the sun. Another beautiful day but looks like rain and wind or coming back tomorrow and I'm soo annoyed about it.

QOTD: most of the pasta meals we cook, the pasta is pre-cooked. The only dish I can think of that isn't is a spinach ravioli "lasagna" DD makes. It's pesto and spinach layered with frozen ravioli and a Alfredo sauce. It's really sauce-y so the ravioli are able to cook well in the dish.

hope you all have a great rest of your day...I'm going to go meditate and see if I can calm down my grumpy self. I don't know what my deal is but I need to snap out of it.

The ramp is almost done. Dave had to leave to help someone out, he'll be back tomorrow or Tuesday night to finish. He's going to pick up the railings and caps, we hadn't decided what we wanted for the handrails. I got some energy up after he left and started up the push mower and did the front and both sides. I'll take the rider out tomorrow and do the back. I'm the first one in the neighborhood to mow so far, and our lawn looks so pretty!

Don went outside today for the first time in almost 2 months. To see what the ramp looked like. Dave wanted to make sure that if necessary, the wheelchair would go down and up easily, so he made Don get in it and brought him out to try it. It works fine.. He won't have any trouble using it with the hand rails when walking, or a walker if necessary. Makes me feel more at ease now

Having crab and shrimp ravioli I had gotten at Aldi's to try. Going to make garlic butter to go over it and have a salad

Have a nice nite

Lynn Glad to hear Don got out of the house and the new ramp makes it easy for him. That must be a relief for you. I hope your dinner was good.

I vacuumed the condo and brought more stuff to Kenny's. It will all be going with me to the new place but I am not comfortable having bed linens and towels in storage. Plus I have cleaning supplies I want to use at Kenny's and bring with me. I also want my monitor and printer with me, not in storage. I guess I am just persnickety. I went to see Jeff and the kids. Ellie has a new big girl bike and she is doing well with it. She has another loose tooth but no one is supposed to mention it. Sam is all over the place and standing by himself for a few seconds. Luke likes his scooter. Charlotte was in a mood where she wanted her way all the time. She is very sure of what she wants. She was also extra huggy today which I liked. She is a lot like I was at her age, from the stories I heard from my parents and my Nana.

Have a good evening.

I just finished watching Palm Sunday worship. Carol, the children as always, were wonderful! To hear their loving and faithful voices to start Holy Week singing Amazing Grace was truly a blessing indeed. It always fills my heart with extra thanksgiving to God to get to hear His children sing unto Him. Prayers to each of you, dear Quackers, this Palm Sunday for a strengthened walk of faith indeed this week ahead.

:grouphug:Lynn and cheers for Don! I'm so thankful he was able to get out today at last. Enjoy your dinner, my friend! Prayers you both rest well tonight💤

Snowysmom, I wouldn't feel comfortable having such personal items as bedding in storage either and the same with a 🖥️:lovestrucyour precious grandkids. God Bless all of them and I thank Him for bringing them into your life!

Have a good evening, friends and sweet dreams!

Good Monday morning.☁️

Working from home today, not feeling well 😷. I though COVID finally caught me but the test showed negative. I'm thinking it's a sinus infection, my throat is so sore, stuffy head, headache, freezing. Hopefully it will pass quickly.

Worked Saturday so nothing exciting happened.

Woke up yesterday and got my ironing & dishes done then ran to the store to pick up a few things. Meal prepped my breakfast and lunch for the week. And then I started feeling bad . Took a short nap and didn't want to get up. Watched the baseball game and then the basketball game. Started watching the CMT awards show but by 9:00 I just went to bed. Up all night with my throat.

I was going to take Mia to get her picture with the Easter bunny yesterday but there wasn't any availability when I checked on Saturday so I reserved a spot for Friday. 🐰

That's it for me, going to drink my tea that I made :surfweb:. Have a great day!

Good morning. It was cold and there was a slight frost this morning, but we are supposed to get into the mid 70's.
I have all the yardwork stuff out and ready to go as soon as the grass dries out. I keep looking at the garden that has a brush pile that needs burning, ground that needs to be tilled, and I just can't get myself to do it. Every year I say I am going to make the garden smaller, and I think this will be the year. I will buy a dozen tomato plants, some squash and cuke seeds and call that a garden, lol

@footballmouse- I hope you feel better, and am glad it's not covid!

Off to get inside stuff done before I can head outside to work.

Have a great day

Me too. Hope you're all better quickly and able to take Mia to see the bunny Friday!

Lynn, I love today's picture!

I'm hanging out at home today. Someone from the gas company has to come because they updated our meter last week and now the pilot light on the water heater keeps going out.

But I don't have a real "window" just a "the technician will call you when he's on the way" - so I'm doing little stuff around here today. I've broken down boxes for recycling, ordered cat food and meds to pick up at the vet tomorrow, put the pump on the pool cover to start getting the snow melt off it, put away the tarp that was covering the air conditioner, etc.

I've had a time or two like that. Those moods can be hard to shake.

That's great news, glad he's got the option to safely enjoy the outdoors again.

That's us as well. We are actually not putting one in this year - taking a break & so much to do this summer in particular. I am putting a tomato and a pepper plant in two pots for the porch, that is it. It's going to be odd not having one, but we'll survive.

Good morning everyone. Hoping Kirby's daughter had a productive afternoon on Friday and things lined up for her. Busy week , I've got Teams meets this morning, tomorrow morning, on site meeting this afternoon, tomorrow and Thursday afternoon. But it's good, I like to keep busy.

Have a good day everyone.
