Good morning, all :)

Have been busy with packing stuff this morning, but taking a quick break.

So glad you have a possible condo choice, @Snowysmom!

I actually like roasted Brussels sprouts, but DH and DS don't. That, combined with not liking the way the smell of cooking them lingers in my kitchen, means I don't make them too often. We do grill asparagus sometimes in the summer.

Lynn, I had to look up which Disney castle that was , because I didn't recognize it. (It's Beauty & the Beast's at Tokyo Disneyland, if anyone else was curious.) Fingers crossed Don has nothing serious wrong!

Good Morning from still freezing and 🌧️LA,
Dad read in the 📰yesterday that way back in the 40's it snowed on a major street in the Valley. No ❄️here yet but it's sure feels that cold. We are so extra thankful to have shelter and comforters, too. Please stay warm, friends!

Pea, I am truly grateful to God that you and our Quacker family including of course myself, are so blessed with loving family and friends. I'm not a fan of the Golden Girls TV Show but have always liked its theme song. To you and all of my Quacker family, thank you always for being a friend and extended family, too🐥💕

Thank you also, Pea, for asking about my TMJ. I can PM you more specifics. Just know how blessed and thankful I am to God that I no longer have true issues or daily pain from it. I think like any joint weather does effect my jaw joints particularly as I said when it's humid. I'm doing just fine though. 🙏 that dear you are continuing to heal!

What a nice way to start your morning, Bobbiwoz. I also enjoy an extra new day start of quiet time of gratitude and prayer. Dad enjoys doing a morning crossword puzzle with his breakfast. Many 🙏you are feeling better today! Enjoy your 🍝tonight.

:cheer2:🏠Your post has brought me much morning cheer, Snowysmom and absolutely extra gratitude to God. The condo sounds great all-around. Prayers your second look today brings you added peace that this is where you're meant to move. Happy upcoming Birthday to Charlotte. Did you end up going bowling yesterday? I hope everyone had fun if you did.

Judique, how are your grandkids doing? 🙏they are doing well and enjoying school this year, too. You please also always take good care and stay warm.

More Don 🙏 Lynn and always for you as well. I also love the castle picture, so pretty.
Thanks, PollyannaMom for Googling it for us. May both of you lovely ladies have a good Saturday.

Wishing all of you a great day. I will check back in later.

We all really like Brussels sprouts here, and asparagus sometimes, like if it’s on sale or something. We usually cook the asparagus in a steamer pan with a lid, and this time it was on the back of the stove (with squash and Brussels up front). DH claimed he‘d turned it on, but that someone turned it off. I tend to believe him because when i grabbed mine, they were warm, not cold.

We have a thing here, like a “whodunnit”. :scratchin So DH said DS must’ve turned them off cause he was at the stove sautéing the Brussels sprouts. And DS countered that, no, DH just must not’ve turned them on, etc. I was even suspect as I‘d gone over to inspect, lol. All in good humor, of course. 🤭

@Snowysmom it must’ve been a relief to find a condo you really like. Can’t wait to hear more!

Mona it just made me wonder if there was anything “fixable”, but we can take it to PM.

Reminds me of the Brady Bunch episode with the earring.

Came back for a second. Thanks, Pea, all is good. Truly I am beyond blessed tmj and of course otherwise, too. I will PM you a little later.

Lol, keep both sprouts other than Applesauce from Sprouts store, and asparagus away from me. Enjoy both to those of you who do.

A friend in FL just told me she heard the Hollywood sign got a dusting of snow! Dad said there was something about that in today's paper. If there's a picture, I'll take one or post a link later. The sign is at a higher elevation than we are but it's only 10 or so minutes away. As I've said, :sunny:please for me!

Bed has been stripped and remade, sheets are in the washer. I am going to dust and vacuum and then chores
I need to do all that....

Lynn, I had to look up which Disney castle that was , because I didn't recognize it. (It's Beauty & the Beast's at Tokyo Disneyland, if anyone else was curious.) Fingers crossed Don has nothing serious wrong!

I was curious! Thanks!

Great!

I went to Aldi earlier to get some cheese so that I can enjoy chicken parm for dinner. DD volunteered to cook it so she didn't have to eat my hamburger/spaghetti sauce mixture over noodles. (I'll have to remember she doesn't like that so I can get out of cooking!)

Of course there was the usual maximum of one cashier, but as I approached the line they called in a 2nd one. Got in line about 10 people back. When I got to the front, a man approached and asked us if there were 2 lines. I said yes, so he headed to the other line which was now much shorter. We couldn't actually see it from our line over the aisle of merchandise.

Meanwhile a rather irate person left her place in 'my' line and chased him down to 'loudly' tell him there was only one line and that he needed to leave the short cashier line and go to the back of our line. He looked uncomfortable and ignored her and she got louder.

Out comes what I assume was a (female) manager and very loudly proclaimed that when there are two cashiers there are two lines. Meanwhile I'm tapping my credit card and trying to get gone, as I was the one who told him 2 lines to begin with. I was of course correct, but I do not like to be anywhere near these type of confrontations. Made it through the 'snow' back home safely. Road was a bit wet. I doctored up a bagged salad with avocado and tomato from Aldi and had it for lunch. Then I nuked a chocolate lava cake with caramel center and helped myself to a glass of milk. All pretty good. The snow has now stopped and the road is a little wet but that's about it. That's all my snow so far this year. Thankfully! I don't think it's even going to freeze tonight. My front yard is full of yellow jonquils and my japanese quince has pink flowers. I'm now confused between February and Spring!

I read that LA got a half inch of hail just recently.

:hug:Judique and so glad to hear your grandkids are doing so well. Chocolate lava cake sounds tasty! Denny's used to make a lava cake that dad and I enjoyed. The last time I remember hail out here, it came on all of a sudden one afternoon when dad and I were out a few years ago. Just as quicky, the storm was over. There was no snow picture in the LA Times that dad saw. I did Google and found this article LA Snow ☃️Me is ready for :sunny::)

Have a good afternoon, everyone!

It just pasted the pic, not the message, but apparently from the news it hailed and snowed a bit Tuesday and Thursday.

Thanks so much for looking that up Judique. It's still freezing and rainy right now. Way too ☃️close and 🌨️for me that's for sure.

Snowysmom, prayers your second time viewing the condo went well!

Lynn, much prayer Don is feeling better.

Quiet afternoon otherwise. Wishing all of you a wonderful and WARM rest of the day!:grouphug:

Will this do? Here is an article from the L.A. Times:

Flurries at the Hollywood sign: ‘A very rare event’

Jeff Zarrinnam was born in Hollywood and lives within a mile of the iconic sign.
On Thursday, for the first time in his life, the 59-year-old chairman of the Hollywood Sign Trust was able to make a snowball near the world-renowned landmark.
“I’ve seen everything,” he said, but “it was quite a surprise this morning” to find snow outside his house.
The rare weather phenomenon is due to a “highly dynamic” weather system that is expected to bring heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms and potential flooding to areas in and around Los Angeles.

Snow near the Hollywood sign is “a very rare event,” said Jeff Zarrinnam, so he was excited to capture it.

Zarrinnam snapped a photo of a snowball with the sign in the background. “It’s a very rare event,” he said, so he was excited to capture it.Though he hadn’t been to the sign to confirm, he guessed that snow had fallen around the landmark in the hills above his house .

“If I’m below it, then of course there was snow up there as well,” Zarrinnam said.
The National Weather Service later confirmed that white stuff did indeed fall on the Hollywood sign. “After a little investigating ... we are confident in saying snow or graupel fell on Mt. Lee (where the Hollywood sign sits) this morning around 9:15 am,” the weather service tweeted .
As to whether it was snow or graupel — soft hail — meterologist Lisa Phillips, with the NWS in Oxnard, said she couldn’t confirm without seeing it in person.

“It’s possible,” she said of Zarrinnman’s snowball, as “it may have been cold enough” for snow and the elevation was high enough.
The sign sits at 1,578 feet, just above the 1,500-foot line at which the National Weather Service expected to see snow during the storm bringing frigid temperatures to Southern California.
No matter what you call it, Zarrinnam noted that it melted quickly in the sun: “You have to be quick” to get a photo, he said.

Funny about the snow in Hollywood! I didn’t realize it was that rare there! :cold: Stay warm CA Quackers!

It is still super cold here, only about 19 degrees out right now. We had a light dusting of snow tonight. We did go out for a little while in it and froze our butts off.

We managed to get quite a bit done today - some general cleaning as well as some deeper cleaning in a couple of rooms, mainly the living room and the apartment bathroom. We moved the large dog crate that’s been in our living room for a long time (and a smaller one before that) which unblocked the fireplace and gave us more space. We put a light bed in front so dogs can still lay there if they want to. We also managed to clean out a big basket by the door that had a lot of crap in it. Got a bag to donate and also some trash as well as some things I still need to take care of like photos for an album and some returns, etc. And I did get my new bedspread on it‘s more like a quilt (I still like it) and changed the sheets as well as put out some new pillows I’d bought, etc. It looks nice! Dogs were a little worried seeing their beds and blankets being messed with, I think they thought they might be going back to the kennel! :scared: Today we tackle the kitchen and a coat rack (which shouldn’t take too long) and I’d like to work in my bedroom as well. So a full schedule. That’s if I can ever get to sleep!

I’d also like to cook something for dinner, was looking at some recipes tonight, but also thinking of our sauce and meatballs. Can’t decide. Did anyone make the Chicken Marsala yet? I was thinking I might make a big pan of it for Easter.

Have a good Sunday, everyone. 🐥

Good morning. It's odd outside now. It's only 28, with a freezing fog advisory. I can barely see the house next door. It's going into the '50s, so I can live with those temps. By the end of the week, they are calling for the 70's again. Mother Nature is messing with everyone. I can't believe that LA got sleet/hail/snow. I didn't think that ever happened there.

I puttered around yesterday, cleaning this and that. Straightened out all the kitchen drawers, emptied off the countertop, and moved some things around. I don't know why I ever bought a big Ninja air fryer. For the number of times I have used it, it's just taking up counter space. I guess since everyone else was getting them, I wanted one too. It's probably going to end up in a box back down in the basement shortly. Don still isn't feeling well and isn't that hungry, so I haven't been doing much 'real' cooking for a few weeks now.

Finally got to a few tv shows last night. I'm caught up on Greys, Station 19, FBI, Connors, and all the Chicago's. Survivor starts this week and I can't wait!

No idea what I'm going to do today, but I'm sure it won't be anything exciting.

Have a nice Sunday

Good morning. I am so over this weather. We had snow flurries yesterday that amounted to nothing and today it's supposed to be in the 50's. Not sure I believe that, however.

Had a busy couple of days ending with a Bingo Fund Raiser for Anthony's baseball team. I didn't win any of the games although I came close once or twice. I did win a raffle basket of an Italian night. There are 2 bottles of a red wine in there and my daughter claimed them. I told her that I would think about it as I do like an occasional glass of wine. She told me I don't drink wine, I drink Arbor Mist, that's not wine. It is true that is my go-to wine, but it doesn't give me severe heartburn as some others have been known to do, I would like to try this wine though to see how it is. It's an Italian Red and I'm not sure what that means. She may get them both though, as wine turns to vinegar in my house quickly. I rarely drink anything.

My table was lucky at the raffles though as both of my daughters won a basket. Jennifer got the cat basket and Beth got one with a lot of Philly Police things. We buried a police officer killed in the line of duty this week so it meant a lot to her. My son actually had met the officer a couple of times through work and my husband thinks he knew his father. They both briefly worked in the sheriff's department while my husband was still there. It was such sad news to wake up to last Sunday.

I came home last night to my flight home from Orlando being changed to an even earlier flight. I managed to get that fixed this morning. There is now a flight leaving 3 hours later so I happy with that. Getting home may present a problem since we arrive at 10:30 PM. I am hoping one of my other kids can pick us up. My mom would but she is in bed long before that time. I have a few months to work on that anyway.

Church this morning and hoping for the start of donations for the Easter Egg Hunt we host for the kids every Easter morning. I would love to hand over the duties to someone else because it stresses me out so much but at the same time I would stress that they wouldn't do as good a job as I do. It's always exciting to watch the kids have so much fun and I never know what to expect. One year my granddaughter found a snake and forgot to look for any eggs. Another year we had a very busy squirrel stealing the eggs and getting inside for the candy. He was a very determined little squirrel. If I can find the pictures I'll post one later today.

Hope you all have a very nice Sunday.

Yikes on the snake, but the squirrel sounds hilarious!

Have a good day, everyone!

Good morning. I am back at the condo for a pit stop before going to Jeff's for the party. I had a nice time with kenny and the kids. We did not get to bowl as the complex where it is located was packed and no parking spaces to be had. We went to target and the kids got little lego sets to put together. They went sledding on Saturday but Kenny said there really was not enough snow for a long run.

I did go back for the second look at the condo. The manager was nice enough to let us into the one that is built and told us to take our time. Kenny and the kids came with me. It is a very nice complex off a country road. When you drive in it looks like a neighborhood of houses. Each "house" is a duplex with 2 condos. There is a 2 car garage, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and kitchen, kitchen nook, and family room. The deck outside is a nice size. I like that there is an actual door to get out to the deck, not sliders. I don't like sliders. Of course they like you to add on upgrades and there are a couple that speak to me. I have always wanted a really nice shower. Crazy I know but the one here is just meh and the doors are very shaky. Previous to this I have always had a tub with a shower. The model home had the upgraded shower package and it blew me away. It has zero entry, no threshold to lift your foot over or for me, trip over, tiled floor not fiberglass, tiled walls, upgraded showerhead, and nice shelves. You could easily fit a chair into the shower if needed. The door up grade is heavy duty and no need to worry about it going off the track. It is very expensive but I can do it and still stay within budget. I may treat myself to it. Then in the kitchen there is an empty area between the door and where the cabinets start. I want to put in a cabinet with a countertop and the top cabinet. Those are the 2 upgrades. I am fine with everything else. They could nickel and dime you to death but I am watching my pennies. I did put a deposit on it to reserve it. I have 14 days to sign the P&S and I will take most of those days to think hard on it and look to be sure there isn't anything else out there that I would want. I would be 12 minutes from Kenny and the shops and restaurants I like in his town, 5 minutes from a Market Basket and a shopping area, 4 minutes to 495 for then I have to go into work or go to Jeff's. My only concern is it is a small town, well water, private sewer, and the taxes are a bit higher than I like but Kenny's taxes are high too. But, this would be true in alot of the towns I am looking in. Just need to find out about the trash pickup. Decisions, decisions. I also need to put in window treatments which for me a top down, bottom up pleated shades. Kenny said he could install them but I may try blind to go to see if they install.

Off to work a bit and then to party with Charlotte.

Have a good day.

Good Sunday morning! There may not be snow at my lower elevation, but I sure do feel like a ⛄It's freezing! My phone says it's 48. I do give God thanks in all, always. That Scripture was in my devotional yesterday. I would appreciate extra prayers that one day, God-willing, dad and I are able to move into a new home with safe to use heating. Thank you, dear Quacker family. We are good, grateful, and most appreciative extra of the roof we have and comforters on our beds, too!

Dad is :car:on errands while it is dry out. This afternoon we will bake some cookies for Shirley's family that he'll drop off for them at ⛪tomorrow unless it's snowing, of course along with a contribution for her reception on Tuesday that will follow her memorial service at church. Dad 🙏tomorrow for his hearing center appointment. He plans to keep that unless again we have inclement weather. I'm looking forward to watching online worship as always and of course, also as I do every day, pray each of you are having a warm and good day.

:thanks:dear Luckyrabbit for posting the 📰article. I saw some other local pictures yesterday, too. Dad hasn't yet looked at today's LA Times but will do so later. Truly ☃️me minus the snow. AuntieMe3 is at a higher elevation than I am, and it sounds like you are, too. Please take extra care to stay warm and well, both of you, kind friends! :hug:always great to see a post from you, my friend.
:hug:Pea and prayers this finds you and your:dogdance:and the rest of your family warm! Dogs like kids sure do extra sense and know when something is off or has changed. I hope Grady and Toto have settled by now. Not a fireplace person but lol would love to join them to warm up by one right now! Enjoy your dinner to come and continue to take good care.

:grouphug: Lynn and 🙏for Don. I'm so sorry he still isn't doing well :( Thinking of you both with extra love and care. Please enjoy a do nothing day today! Relax and watch more favorite 📺shows. Take good care! Remember, always, all of us care.

:hug:Taz and 🙏conrinuing that's for sure for you and Jim along with the Officer's family, so very sad :( I love the idea of a ⚾Bingo findraiser. Congratulations on winning a basket. Thank you for helping with the Easter Egg hunt.

PollyannaMom, :wave:Good Morning to you always with a :hug:I totally agree about the squirrel and yikes the snake!

Snowysmom, big :grouphug:I am very thankful to God indeed to read your update. Thank you also for, I pray, allowing us to continue to support dear you! I admire you so very much and am just :cheer2:on the condo. I hope you and your family will get to enjoy some future 🎳fun. Happy Birthday to Charlotte!

I'll check back in later. Please, please, everyone do stay warm and take extra good care!

Afternoon thread bump. Still freezing but thankfully dry here. It does look like 🌧️could come at any time. A wet Monday tomorrow is expected. I'm truly 🙏should it be heavily raining in the morning that dad will reschedule at Costco. Right now, 🧈is softening to be used for 🍪I feel badly for him because he's done so very much today. A warm cookie will be a treat for us both. Have a good rest of the afternoon, friends. Be warm!
