Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Our Thanksgiving meal begins around 5 PM. We have to get the recruits back at the base by 8, and so we leave our house by 7:30, and generally go around the B&B area to show them the Christmas lights in the area, and then back to the base.

I can only go for the night ride if we have fewer than 4 recruits. So, we’ll see if I can go with them on Thursday.

Morning all.
Not much to report for the weekend. Watched my Broncos lose; we are not having a good year! Got a HF box this morning (ordered it to arrive early, with Tday coming); had to hop on chat because, once again, bad produce. Between last week and this week, I have enough of a credit to pay for a full box, which I'll use in 2 weeks (skipping next week). Working on bedding today, as I was lazy and didn't do it over the weekend. Tomorrow is my full day; I have to stop at the grocery for the rest of Tday food (waiting because I don't want my produce to die before Thursday); Kohls to return stuff for DH, and to try on a pair or two of jeans; and house cleaning (though I might do some of that today...at least the full house sweep and mop). DH is still congested (in his head, though; no rattles or heaviness in his chest; and he's still tired and a sore throat from coughing a bit...with the nasal congestion, he's mouthbreathing, and it's irritating his throat. He had already planned on WFH this week, but we'll see if he actually gets around to doing any work. Still - for C19, has been testing daily. (I have to add more tests to my shopping list!)

-------------------------------------------------
Someone at the hospital is going to call the manufacturer of the medicine and see if they can help out. Everything was approved before he began chemo so you would think that insurance would man up and at least help pay for the more expensive pills regardless of his age.
You would think, but the companies truly don't care if we live or die, as long as they make a profit.

Today was our Thanksgiving meal day. DH put a turkey in the smoker. First time for him to smoke a turkey. Turned out pretty tasty. When it was done he went over to a friend of mine house and installed a new water heater. While he was gone, I made all the sides. DD made a sweet potato casserole. I made mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, dressing and green bean casserole. We had jelled cranberries and a pack of Brown and Serve rolls to round out the meal. When DH got home he carved the turkey and then we ate till we could eat no more. Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite meal of the year.
Sounds like everythign came out great!

This morning we “went” to Mass from Knock Ireland. It was a beautiful service, with special prayers for all Heath care and Emergency care workers, and for all victims of car accidents.
Very cool, the Ireland part, not the victims (oiy)
We finished the bulk of Thanksgiving meal shopping today. DSis will be buying much of the Polish food we’ll be serving as lunch, and we bought most of the fixings for turkey dinner. We found out we will pick up the recruits at 9:15, so they will be with us from mid morning until 8 PM. We have two gingerbread houses that we hope our grandsons and recruits will help decorate.
Sounds like you'll have a houseful of fun!

Just a quick hello. Had to get a new computer as my old one bit the dust while at my son's house. I knew it was coming but a hard drive and a computer in 2 weeks was a bit much to deal with. Thankfully I lost some downloads but not much else. This computer backs up everything in some sort of cloud. I don't even need to change passwords as they were all there.

Glad it wasn't too hard to get changed!

It is a family celebration we started many years ago on the Friday after Thanksgiving. It started when my mother was still alive. We would pick her up in Baltimore and bring her to our house for Thanksgiving. My brother would go from CT to NJ for Thanksgiving at his in-laws and want to come here Friday and see my mom. I got tired of fixing two big meals so we would go out on Thursday and I'd cook Friday. Andrew was a teen and thought this was "lame", so Lamesgiving was born.
Then when Andrew was working on Thursdays we continued the tradition. Then both kids got married and had to split with in-laws, so the tradition continued. And my brother usually comes with his family too. This year, as everyone will have turkey on Thursday, I am having 13 for beef stew on Friday. The grandkids are going to grow up thinking Lamesgiving is a real holiday.

What a great tradition! Everyone gets their family time, and no one has to stress about who they have to see.

Kirby Glad someone from the hospital is helping with the med.

Such a busy group lately! I will try not to go near a grocery store until the day after Thanksgiving. It seems to be quiet that day.
I will go early in the morning tomorrow, and hope it's not too busy. They seem to get busy in the later afternoons. Works for me; I'll hop over to Starbucks and grab a coffee before I shop; maybe I'll stop at Dunkin and gets donuts after I'm done (there's one attached to the gas station in the Publix parking lot).

Good cold morning (again). It's only 17 outside, though we are going into the 50's today and tomorrow. That will feel like a heat wave!

That is how we get our $$$ meds. Our Dr's offices have us fill out our portion of the applications, attach copies of tax return, and they do their part and fax it in. We have to stop at the hospital medical building tomorrow and drop off all the re enrollment medications. Most of them do have an out of pocket prescription amount you have to meet before approved, but one month of buying the meds usually takes care of that, along with our part D deductible. I hope they can get help for your husband.
We used to get DH's meds through co-pay programs through the manufacturers. The caveat was he had to have the brand and not the generic, so we had to get the drs to write the scripts and say no generic on them! Once he wasn't eligible for the co-pay programs anymore (better insurance now), he went back to the generics and we pay just about the same; it was just the bad insurance that we had before where the cost was so high even on the generics.
Going to make my to do list for Thursday, make a grocery list to make sure I didn't forget anything, and do a load of laundry.
I have a spreadsheet set up on the computer, with timelines and everything, that I use whenever I cook a full Tday meal. DD#2 had me send it to her years ago, and says it helps so much.
Question of the Day: What time do you traditionally eat your Thanksgiving Dinner?
My answer: We eat later, about 4:30 or 5PM, and I grew up eating late afternoon or so and my husband grew up eating at 12 noon. This year we were going to aim for a bit earlier, around 3 pm but one of our family members works overnights and she needs her sleep so we reverted back to our usual time to accommodate her. They travel 45 minutes to our house so I figured it was the least we could do.

Usually around noon or 1PM. That way I had time to clean up, and everyone can just eat leftovers for dinner!

@Bianca and Bernard That is my major fear of getting something like HF. That things will be bad and I will have to be complaining constantly. I don't even like pick up at the store, I don't want someone else choosing my dairy, produce, or meat!

I did manage to get hold of Dave our handyman, as usual 'he was just going to call me',,yeah right, lol. He asked if it was okay if he did it a few nights next week. He said he has a spotlight he can bring to put outside to cut what needs to be cut. He is going to take up a section of the old one, and put down the new one, and then move onto another section. He figures it might take a few nights, but that's fine with me. He has so much stuff to do for so many people, there aren't enough hours in the day. I told him just let me know the day before so I can move all the 'little stuff' out of the way. He said he would do it, but that's too much. I can help him move the big stuff, but the little stuff is a pain in the butt.
I still haven't moved from here. Listening to the streaming radio, playing a game, Don is asleep. But I better get myself moving.

Good Morning Everyone,

🙏any last-minute shopping that any of you may need to do before Thanksgiving will go as quickly and smoothly as possible. Be careful out there please. Dad is at Staples bringing in ink to be recycled and getting printer paper with a reward coupon we got. He will make a return trip to CVS which thankfully is near Staples. Two of the pictures we ordered were missing from the envelopes dad brought home yesterday. Wonderful customer service from Alex yesterday who assured me he had found the two pictures that never made it into the envelope. We are grateful for that and to Alex for his kindness. Tomorrow, dad will do his usual Tuesday :laundy:followed by a quick (I sure hope) trip to Ralph's. I am 🙏dad indeed stays home all day on Wednesday and he will definitely be doing so on Thursday. He does so much for us both that it means extra to me when he takes some better care of himself by staying safe at home and having a relaxing day. I almost forgot to share that the Christmas bowl I ordered for dad, is out for delivery. I definitely will share about that when it has come. I am certainly praying that this one will be just fine.

Carol, ITA with what everyone has said about your Lamesgiving celebration. Family traditions can be precious memories for all for years to come and such fun indeed. Thank you:hug: for passing that on to your grandkids.

PollyannaMom, prayers this finds you and your:cat:cozy and well. Prayers also that your DS is able to come home for Thanksgiving.

Thinking of you Dazed, Frog, and DisneyMommyMichelle, along with all other Quacker family members who may not have checked in for a while:grouphug:

AuntieMe3, you’re a busy lady:car:. I’m so glad you got to spend a weekend at home.

Your grandkids are precious, Snowysmom! Little ones do have sharp teeth like a puppy. 🙏 your son is okay! Big hug. I am truly extra grateful to God that you will be spending Thanksgiving and Christmas with family.

Such a cute morning ::MickeyMopicture, Lynn! I also love that our thread is almost three years old. God absolutely has blessed me so deeply with connecting all of us as friends. I sincerely pray we continue to grow together in faith and loving care, friendship years to come and of, course, one day, God-willing, that we do get to have our Quacker family meet. Much prayer, for you and Don on the medication front and, of course, in general. I am so sorry medication cost and red tape is also an issue for both of you. As I said yesterday that needed medications can be so out of reach or hard to get for many is just plain wrong.

Dad would love some of your🫐 bread, Easyas! Thanks for bringing back the QOTD! Dad and I will probably have our
usual soup together around 4:45 or so and then an early dinner so we can have a more relaxing evening.

Bobbiwoz, I would enjoy getting to see Christmas lights on Thanksgiving. That’s neat that you’ll get to do that. Thank you and Tom again for your kind volunteering:hug:.

Feel better 🙏 to your DH, B&B. I’m sorry about the Broncos 🏈. ITA with Lynn about HF. I’m sorry, of course, for your recent experience with them. Prayers should you order again that the food truly be fresh!

:grouphug:Kirby, thinking of you, my friend. Continuing prayers for your son!

Wishing all of you a wonderful Monday. I will check back in later.

We have Thanksgiving dinner between 1 and 2 pm. It has been this time since I was a kid. This year Kenny is smoking the turkey and he also makes smoked mashed potatoes in the smoker. We are all making sides and desserts for dinner so it is a family effort.

Quiet here,,sunny and 50. Quite a change from the last few days~~
Talked to Summer earlier. She got another shot in her hand yesterday and says it hurts more today than it did before the shot. I told her to take it easy making Thanksgiving dinner and let the teenagers make a lot of it. She has to drive to Pittsburgh today or tomorrow to get her husband. The younger of her sons just left on a job today and won't be home till tomorrow. The older one came home this morning and is home until the weekend.
I already talked to the cardiogist office to make sure that they will be there tomorrow to drop off paperwork. One of the drug company's sent us postal mail today,,saying that medicare patients will automatically be enrolled for 2023 and we don't have to do anything, and don't have to meet any out of pocket expenses first. Wish they would all be like that!
Dinner will be leftovers,,then we will catch up on the 2 shows that we still have on the dvr. The rest are movies. I watched General Hospital and Sister Wives earlier. Had some down time for a change.
Have a nice evening all

🙏for Summer continuing, Lynn. :cheer2:for the medication news!

Huge favor to any of you who are techy. Is it possible to remove the watermark that spans horizontally between/on the three hearts clustered more together? I would really appreciate it so much. I ordered this picture once for my dad's Thanksgiving card and was disappointed to discover the watermark ruining it. Would need this by tonight or very early tomorrow morning so I can order it by 8am or so my time :thanks:my friends so very much!

Thanks to God, the dad's new Christmas surprise bowl came, and I think will work out just fine. Definitely festive and cute, don't you think? :) Picture two shows our Corelle soup bowl as well as the bowl dad daily uses right now for his morning breakfast. Picture three shows the new bowl inside the soup bowl. Similar width and depth. It is lighter a little bit than the Corelle bowl. Very grateful to be done with bowl shopping!

Just need to now figure out about the granola and berries. Originally, I had wanted to wrap up a favorite seasonal granola for dad. Since I wouldn't be able to go buy (or hide until Christmas) fresh berries for him, it makes more sense to just get him somehow a gift card to Sprouts. Sprouts is where my applesauce comes from and where dad also tends to buy most of his berries. He does get them at Ralph's and Pavilion's. Overall. he tends to do better at Sprouts. Thinking the easiest way to do this would be to simply give dad money when he ideally would go to Sprouts a few days before Christmas and ask him to please use it for berries that he will enjoy on Christmas. That way the full "why" part will still be a Christmas morning surprise. As far the granola, should I not be able to order or have anyone bring one to me, I can do the same thing with that once new seasonal choices come out and I know dad likes one. I will keep all of you posted.

Wishing all of you a wonderful and warm evening with love.

Just catching up. Had a super busy weekend at work with some very sick patients. One said something that upset me pretty good but I’m trying to let it go. (Another said something to a coworker that would make a sailor blush.) On the bright side I got to work with an old friend I haven’t seen in a while so that made it a good weekend.

Enjoyed hearing about your Thanksgiving plans, and of course, Lamesgiving. :lmao: We will go to SIL’s house and (QOTD) we eat around 1pm. That works out well so we can help clean up and still have time to relax when we get home. We’ll have a traditional turkey dinner at home over the weekend for ourselves, as well.

There was a knock on the door today and it was a delivery person. My elderly friend sent me a beautiful plant with seasonal flowers. I still have the one she sent from last year, too. I will call and yell at her later, lol. (And I have a piece of banana cream pie with her name on it that I’ll drop off tomorrow.)

Did everyone see the tragedy at the Apple store today? That’s my store. 😣 Have stood in that exact area many times. Area hospitals were all impacted today. Some crazy stuff going on these days.

Tired tonight, going to hopefully hit the hay early. Have a zoom meeting tomorrow and want to get the dogs out for a while. Tomorrow is Toto’s birthday! :goodvibes He will be 9 yrs old. I got him some salmon and shrimp treats for his birthday.

Have a good rest of the evening, everyone. 🐥 Hugs to all.

Aw God Bless your kind elderly friend, Pea:hug:Aw, Happy Birthday to Toto tomorrow! When is Grady's, do you know?:dog2: I just Googled about the Apple Store 🙏all-around there, so very tragic indeed. Wow, that definitely hits closer to home when it's our own store :( You please be extra safe Pea!

Very grateful to be done with bowl shopping!
Happy for you - it looks good!

Is it possible to remove the watermark that spans horizontally between/on the three hearts clustered more together?
That one's a little beyond my skills.

Yes 😕
That story hit close to home for us as well.

Tomorrow is Toto’s birthday! :goodvibes He will be 9 yrs old. I got him some salmon and shrimp treats for his birthday.
Awwww! :bday: to Toto!

Have a good day. It is 23 right now so my walk is postponed until the sun is fully up. I will work a bit and then walk around 8.
Your walking everyday inspires me. I plan to take up walking outside again sometime soon.
Question of the Day: What time do you traditionally eat your Thanksgiving Dinner?
Used to we tried to eat about 1:30 - 2:00. We haven't had a group over for Thanksgiving in a couple of years for different reasons.
Thanks to God, the dad's new Christmas surprise bowl came, and I think will work out just fine.
So happy that your dad's bowl arrived. I'm sure that he will love it!

Went up to Kroger for last minute shopping to pick up some items to take with us when we leave on Wednesday to see DS. Most of what he eats right now tastes like metal. He's on day 11 of his 28 day clinical trial.

Worked in the office all afternoon. DD went to get lab work done so she could find out if she is a match for DS if he needs it.

DD and GK's put out all the light up animals outside. We got out the Christmas decorations, the kids were so excited! But we could not find our tree. Hmmmm, could it be I got rid of it last year and forgot? Yes, I did.
Lil Joe would love a huge tree but we don't have room for one. I got on Amazon and ordered a 4' slim tree, should be here Friday. I told DD to go ahead and decorate it. Will give the kids something to do.

@flyingdumbo127 So glad the bowl arrived. It looks nice.

@Pea-n-Me The Apple store tragedy was awful. I was so surprised to see a local news story on the national news. That is how I heard about it. South Shore Hospital was Joe's hospital and Chris's family hospital growing up. They really worked hard there and helped so many people. So sorry your work weekend was not the best. I can imagine that sometimes patients just get so ornery and scared that they strike out at whoever is there. :grouphug:

@lynxstch So sorry Summer isn't feeling better. I do hope she can get some relief soon.

I am in the office this morning and then off to Kenny's for a few days. I am not sure if I am coming back Thanksgiving night or Friday. I may just wait until Friday, do some grocery stopping in the area, look around a bit, and head back to the condo. Tomorrow I work for a couple of hours and then will bake after a walk. I like walking in Kenny's neighborhood. I hope I have time to walk this afternoon before dark.

Have a good day.

Good Tuesday morning! :cold:

It's 26 out this morning but supposed to get up to 51 this afternoon. Let's hope so!:sunny:

Haven't been on here since Friday. Friday morning I dropped off some winter coats, hats and scarves to a charity collecting those items for a Thanksgiving distribution that they do. Then I worked Friday and Saturday night. Grabbed a few hours of sleep and then when up to sit with Mia. Came home, watched the Bengals and then went to bed. Yesterday I was dragging since I didn't get much sleep on Sunday. Luckily I work from home on Monday's and I stayed in my pajamas and robe all day.

In the office today so after work I'll go across the street to see Mia and then stop at Kroger on the way home. The kids and I are going to Cracker Barrel for breakfast on Thanksgiving and then I have to work that night. We're all bringing in food for a Thanksgiving meal at work that night, I'm bringing a potato casserole that my sister always makes. Hopefully it will turn out, I've never made it before. Praying everything I need will be available at the store, I don't feel like running all over the place and I don't have the time to do that.

Started buying some Xmas presents and Jacob at least mentioned 1 thing he wants so I can look for that Friday.

A friend of mine gave me her air fryer (she upgraded). I'm excited and nervous to use it, I've never had one before.

Back to work, everyone have a great day!

Good morning all. At least it's above freezing today. Will get to mid 50's. We are off to do errands and grocery shopping shortly, no way am I going near a store tomorrow.
@Pea-n-Me That was awful about the apple store. I can just imagine what kind of a zoo the hospital's were. :(

@Snowysmom Have a great time at Kenny's

@footballmouse --I know you got to hold Mia, but how is she doing healthwise, is she gaining weight yet?

@flyingdumbo127 --glad this bowl worked out for you, it's very festive!

Have a nice morning all,, catch you all later
