Thanks for the reminder - ours will go in tomorrow as well so maybe tonight I'll make sure I have a spot for the bucket of brine & turkey in the fridge or if I'll have to do some rearranging of the overflow fridge.

Food prices have really shot up. We spent about that for our Thanksgiving shop, only meat I got was a ham. And another fair bit of $$$ at the liquor store for other supplies.
I put mine in a turkey bag, with the brine. Then I put it in this igloo cooler link (because it keeps the turkey upright in one spot, no floating around). I pack ice around it, so it stays cold. (all that hurricane ice goes to good use, lol) A plate on top to hold it in down (with a can of something on top, lol), and then the lid to the cooler. It's an old cooler, that we don't use to drink out of anymore (I have a new one for that); it's been relegated to holding water for washing hands when we go camping.

Prices are just ridiculous. But those companies have to make their best profits ever, don't you know....:rolleyes2

That's a cool photo.

We enjoy eating there when we stay at Beach or BW, although come to think of it we've only ever eaten outside - I'm not sure I've ever been inside!

Oh boy! Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to check it out in 2 minutes

We were in Acme Sunday and they had plenty of both. You guys don't have a Acme up there, do you? Maybe Martins or Food Lion/Giant?

No Acme, no Food Lion anymore, it's a Weis and I don't like going that far to shop , and I don't really care for the store. We have a Martins, but they had none either. Just seems strange that Aldi's had so much and the larger stores like Walmart Supercenter and Martins (which is Giant) had no jellied, just whole.

Food and household prices are crazy! Amazon is now asking $9.49 for one package of my flosser refill heads :scared1:⛽thank goodness for the first time in forever, dad said, has gone down to $4.89. 🙏each of you are able to both afford and find what you truly need to get. I certainly know neither is easy!

It warmed up here for me, too, which is lovely. Thankful that the day got armer as well for you, PollyannaMom and hope it did likewise even a dash for the rest of you. Please take care and be cozy🐥Dad is thanks to God safe and home where he will stay until laundry and Ralph's on Friday. Extra Thanksgiving blessing indeed.

Wishing each of you a good evening and AuntieMe3, enjoy the rest of the afternoon as well. I'll heck in once more later.

Home with pretty toes.

Watching TV now and baking brownies to frost and glaze tomorrow.

RE: eggs prices and Publix. When we were in Florida in October, I didn't buy eggs because regular large eggs were $5.15. They were $2.79 at home. But we went to Target the next day and they were only $2 something, like at home. When I shopped yesterday, there were hardly any eggs at all. Just 3 cartons of extra large and a few more jumbo. I hated to pay for the bigger eggs but needed them. They did have Eggland.

Back from Disney
Sounds like a great trip.
For those in the Northeast, AUTO TRAIN flash sale!
Thanks for the info. Their sales are really only on coach seats.

I've been on the go all day today...oh man, my feet are tired. But at least I have all my shopping done and aside from an appt in the afternoon, I can relax at home most of the day tomorrow.

Tomorrow evening, I'll start prepping my side dishes so Thursday should be pretty easy. We usually eat Thanksgiving regular dinner time around here, between 5-5:30p, but we'll have snacks throughout the day.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve! 🦃

Didn't do much yesterday except for work and then visited Mia. I did stop at Kroger on the way home. It was crowded but they had everything I needed and the self check-out line wasn't bad at all. Went home and had a bowl of cereal for dinner.

Hopefully I can scoot out of work early when my boss leaves for a meeting, I just don't know when his meeting is.

I was able to order an air fryer from Walmart for a Xmas present for Jacob, it was on his list. I got the Black Friday price so it only cost $60 which I thought was pretty good. It's the bigger one with 2 shelves.

I've been getting my eggs from a girl at work. She has chickens so I can get a dozen fresh eggs for $3.

That's it, have a great day and enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Florida prices are insane.--Wow, you are right on that!
Lemons .99 each regular price
Those prebagged salads with dressing and things like sunflower seeds? $4.99 each reg (on sale B1G1)
Kleenex, small box $1.81 reg
Milk, Publix brand $4.95 gallon reg
Birds eye frozen veggies, the roaster kind $5.09 each reg (bought on sale B1G1, so it's a bit more palatable)
Better than Bouillon $5.99 a jar
The Triscuits and Wheat Thins were on sale B2G1, at $3.83 each
Pam $5.59 reg for the small can (B1G1)
Mac n Cheese (Kraft/Velveeta/Cracker Barrel, with the liquid cheese) $4.99 each reg (B1G1)
Pillsbury rolls are $4.02 reg (B1G1)

I spent $317.68; with $2.50 in coupons and saved $106.29. Not a single actual meal. It was all stuff for Tday, and the weekend.

The Aldi by my house never has any stock except for meat and bad veggies
. Same with the Winn Dixie. So I either shop at the SuperTarget (bad produce) or Publix. We don't like by a TJ or the Fresh Market any more.

Our Aldi's has the best produce of any of the 3 stores we have. Our Walmart is the store that has bad veggies and fruits. And Aldi's is always well stocked around here.

Aldi's had plenty of eggs, but I noticed that Walmart hardly had any. Even the Eggland's Best slot was empty. I couldn't figure out why people were using so many eggs this week, lol

Good morning all. Cool start at 28, but sunny and will get to 60. Finally a day where I can out and walk around outside. They are replacing the main gas line down the road, and decided yesterday to start parking all the work trucks and cars down behind a big bldg across the street. I was awakened this morning by loud beeping outside our bedroom window. I looked out to see the parade of trucks all parked there waiting to leave. They must have sat there for at least 20 minutes, and had traffic blocked while they all got out. I imagine it will be the same later this afternoon as they go back behind the bldg. Last night it was almost 5:30 before they quit working and all got quiet. I am not looking forward to when they get down as far as our house with the gas line. I am hoping it gets too cold soon and they will be forced to wait till Spring, lol

@Snowysmom Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, hope you are having a great time

Took the trash down and fed the cats. Only thing on my to do list today is make the pumpkin pies. I don't care for them, but Don loves it. I am giving the second one to the 'good' neighbors next door. Their 2 little boys love it, and the older of the 2 who is 6, just came back from NYC after spending the last 2 months with his Dad. It has been so quiet with just the younger one outside playing, I am hoping to hear their giggles and laughs later on today as I'm sure they missed each other like crazy.

Have a nice morning

Good morning Everyone!

Starting to get back to semi normal. I've glanced at some of the later posts but not up to date at all. So forgive please if I've not liked or loved any posts. I'll go through in time but don't know when.

Hope all are well and that those who had loved ones not doing so well have gotten stronger.

Meanwhile, only younger DD with me this Thanksgiving so we are eating dinner with a friend's huge extended family. I'm a little hesitant as I don't know a lot of these people, but I do know the hostess and her husband, plus about 4-5 others. It will be a big group in a large home, so we'll do some mingling as well as eating.

Does anyone here enjoy Celtic music? I saw that there is a Celtic event that I would like to attend in Smyrna, Delaware on Dec 9. It's a sister duo who sing and play instruments. I'm thinking of combining it with a visit to Blackwater to see the birds as they migrate. All up in the air as I just found this and I want to invite someone to go along or maybe I'll be solo, so I'll give it a day to think about.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve! 🍂

Plenty to do today for cooking/prep. I also received an alert that the library books I put on hold are now available so I want to stop by before it closes early for the holiday.

@lynxstch That's not a plesant way to wake up! I like the Disney pictures you post each day.

@Judique I enjoyed reading your trip report! Glad you are home and can rest. I once saw Celtic Thunder in concert and quite enjoyed it. I'm not sure that's the same style music as your duo Celtic event though.

To all: Hope your days are filled with whatever brings you joy!

Celtic Thunder is some of my favorite music to listen to. Saw them in concert once, and it was amazing! It's not often I come across anyone else who enjoys them, but I found that a lot of our Quacker family has the same likes and dislikes as I have.

To all: Hope your days are filled with whatever brings you joy!

Really? Where at in Smyrna if you don't mind me asking? That sounds interesting. I recall watching a sister duo at Raglan Road a few years ago, they were pretty good.
If you go, I can recommend Cantwell's Tavern in Odessa which is just a few minutes up the road, right on 13 (which, if you go you can take Rt. 1 right on down to the Bay Bridge from there). Nice ambiance and decent food.

I was up and out of the house at 7 this morning, needed to stop at the store for my last minute vegetable needs and then stop at farm market to pick up my rolls, and grabbed some cinnamon rolls for the office, plus a pit stop at Dunkin for doughnuts and 7 sandwiches, also for office. Looks like it will likely be a rather quiet/slow day in the office. Will probably cut everyone loose early.

Yes, I think you are right about the seat. I was looking to book a bedroom and my car and the cost was over $754 for 2. With points it was 26,768. I wrote this down yesterday. Cheaper prices are also in the early part of booking, and my train was 29% full with the trip on Feb 3.

The coach seat was $29 per person. Car $225. That combo was the cheapest I've ever priced. Not sure I could do 17 hours in a coach seat since I want the bedroom specifically to have my own toilet and sink. I'd probably forego a shower until arriving home. But that's one expensive toilet at $529 versus $29 for the seat. (I know food and a bed are also included.)

Dilemma - Gas for trip is about $130 both ways with my hybrid. Room on the way is free. So, I'm really just looking at the experience and not having to drive. I like to drive, and I've done sleeper and bedroom on regular trains many times years ago. Doesn't look much different other than the food looks more limited. Maybe I'll save my Amtrak points for when driving is more tedious for me.

There also were cancellation penalties so I didn't feel comfortable booking early.

It's called Cobalt Manor and it's a dinner/ticket combo in Elizabeth Esther Cafe at 6:10pm. $55. The group's website is https://cassieandmaggie.com. It's a christmas tour so probably heavy on christmas songs.

I'm not familiar with the venue but it appears to be a wedding type place but also a cafe.

Older DD would go in a heartbeat, but I'm not sure on that as the DGD's would have to be included and whether they would make it through the evening is open for debate. If bored they would want to leave. It appears there are 2 sittings but we wouldn't make it for the first, I don't think.

Good morning.

I frosted and glazed my brownies for Friday. They are the ones with the mint layer but I used Baileys instead of Creme de Menthe. We'll see how that works out. Going to make cranberry orange relish soon. Getting the table set for Friday.

Have to go out for a few stops, including trying to get my last $50 order at Food Lion to get my reward. And spoke to Andrew this morning and we will probably go to the Terps football game Saturday so need to get most of our altar guild chores done today.

I've glanced at some of the later posts but not up to date at all.
I think we need to agree that keeping totally up to date on posts here is not necessary. It shouldn't turn into work or a chore.

That would be a great location for a mini meet with you, @easyas123, and me. Unfortunately I already have Longwood plans that day.

Better get back to work.

Good morning everyone.

Been really busy the last few days so I read posts each day before bed but have a hard time responding on my I-Pad.

I was up at 6 AM the last couple of days to get the boys to school. Of course that means my normal routine, including walking the dog must be done early. This morning there was some frost on the grassy areas and the way the light was hitting it as the sun was coming up was beautiful. It shimmered like diamonds. I wish the camera can capture what the eye sees sometimes,

The question about Thanksgiving mealtime is easy. I go to my parents' house as my dad refuses to go anywhere else. Now that he is older it works out better as they have a powder room in the dining room. It is a little odd when it is used during dinner but after 66 years in that house, we are used to it. Mom plans dinner for 4 PM. We eat at 5 or 5:30 as my sister-in-law cannot be on time, EVER! We have to wait for her to show up with their dog. I personally do not like the dog, but mom accepts it. They have a 13-year-old Labradoodle that has as much energy now as she had as a puppy. I get annoyed because my mom caters to my youngest brother and his wife, so our traditional foods are altered to make them happy. She NEVER did that when I was younger.
understand for allergies but they are picky eaters.

Food prices around here are getting a little to high but with diesel fuel for truck as $6 a gallon around here I can understand the costs. Eggs are back up to $4-5 a dozen for large again, they had dropped a bit last month. The prices that are hurting me are ones I can't control - Pet Food. The price of dog food for my dog has gone from $4 to $6 a bag. Thankfully the bag lasts about a month. The cat food is over $5 a bag and that is 1 a week. Kitty Litter that they like and will use is hard to find. Thankfully I was able to get cheap bread for $1.19 a loaf for my stuffing. The good bread is at $5 a loaf. Margarine that I paid $.99 last year was $1.89. The "cheap" store brand was $2.29. Butter is $4-6 a pound. I was lucky to get some for $2 a pound last week at a store we had open around here last year called Lidl. I grabbed 6 pounds. I may get some more this weekend if it's still on sale. I have been put in charge of cookies for our family Christmas Eve get together.

The Phillies donated 2 boxes of items for our raffle table. I was amazed at what all we got in there. Of course I am in charge of donations but then get told my ideas are horrible. Thankfully my mom is on my side for once. We have learned from experience that raffling items off for 2 hours is a bit too long. The church secretary is coming by my house today to help sort it out into 9 baskets maximum. The priest's wife wanted one family basket and then we just call numbers for everything else. This would have taken hours. I need to be done by 3 PM and on my way because it is my granddaughter Ella's 14th birthday that day and we promised her Shady Maple and Lancaster for dinner.

My computer was an easier save than my hard drive thankfully and will only run me about $20 for a flash drive to save some downloads. I will use it as a back-up for some things but will definitely store on an external hard drive. My brother told me to stick to Toshiba as the WD Passport I had has a high failure rate evidently. He did tell me again to invest in cloud storage so that will be my project after the holidays are over.

If I don't get back on I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
