Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Back to cat food - went to order wet food from Chewy for my cat that needs a urinary tract diet. The 24 pack had jumped from 26.xx to 36.xx since last month's order. I ordered it, then took a look at the price history of my orders and rebelled.

Called and canceled the order. Then I found the 5.5 oz cans on Amazon with subscribe and save for 44.xx. That's 5.67 a pound. The Chewy 3 oz cans were costing 8.66 a pound. Checked Chewy again and found the 5.5 cans for not too much more, but still almost $4 more than Amazon.

I have an upcoming vet appointment for routine stuff so will be talking about alternative ideas for this cats' food. He also happily eats the dry urinary tract food so maybe I can feed him some regular cans along with that kind. He will eat just about anything.

And, by canceling the cat food I also canceled the dog's food. So tomorrow I'll go to Target and pick some up. I have to go anyway.

I have noticed that the prices on Chewy have gone up everytime I order. I ordered a variety pack of Friskies 2 weeks ago..the same thing when I ordered it 2 days ago was $3 higher.

Yikes, Judique! That is a big price increase :( Smart shopper! I hope Target has some all-around better deals for you.

Quiet Sunday which is nice. I need to watch online worship and get mail ready, also decide on the lunch bag!

Just saw your post Lynn and good points! I didn't realize about the "girl." I just checked and that was the Walmart choice which I admittedly thought looked awfully pale to begin with. I'm sorry that cat food is still so costly for you, too.

I just asked my dad the general question of whether he'd like something better that was mostly a sky blue with a dash of pink or mostly yellow with a dash of green. Quacker yellow was the winner. I liked that one better, no surprise probably to all of you, too. It also came across to me somehow as simpler than the other choices and I know like me, he, tends to prefer simpler designs. So, going to go with the yellow/green. Of course should he not like it on Easter, he can do an exchange. This way at least I'll have something to go with the basket.

ETA one last time: I wish smilies would work. Picture the cheering smilie. I just got a free 30 trial of Prime! No need to spend $25 :D

Good evening.

Yesterday we went down to DS's house and saw Marty and his parents. DD came with her DH and the kids so the cousins met for the first time. We visited awhile. walked outside, then ordered carryout. It was going to take an hour so DD and her DH took their kids to a playground until we got dinner. Carter was really taken with Marty. We had a nice visit.

Today was church, then after lunch a trip to Home Depot and the Dollar Tree.

They both say my house will sell but it seems like forever to me.
It really hasn't been that long. DH's office took 2 years, his mother's condo took almost a year, my mother's house took more than a year. I am sure yours will happen sooner and it seems longer than it is.

I did get the condo I bid on
That is great news!

QOTD: What brings you joy?
Being at the ocean, hikes in the woods, dogs, my kids and grandkids, being at church.

either put a walk in tub
Something a patient told me once about the walk in tubs that I had not considered. If it is the kind that has a door that seals closed then you fill with water, when you drain it, it has to be empty before you open the door so you can get cold sitting there wet.

tiny dabs of a jelly type substance around the seams of my counter
DH had an exterminator at his office on a regular basis. He came to the house once and told us which gel to use. We also use Advion Ant Gel that we get from Amazon and it seems to work. We didn't want to treat outside of the house because of the dogs.

Meeting with our financial guy tomorrow to invest the proceeds from selling the office.

Snowysmom, so glad to hear that you got the condo! Praying that you'll hear soon about your house and that the sale goes through.

QOTD: What brings you joy?
Oh golly, so many things. My daughter's smile, my grandkids laughter. Holding my husband's hand. Hugs from my son. A beautiful sunset. The smell of newly mown grass. The smell of rain. Puppies and kittens. Laughter with friends. Singing in church, just to name a few.

We went to San Antonio over the weekend for my SIL's funeral mass on Saturday morning. Friday night was a long five hour drive there and we arrived close to midnight at our hotel. The funeral mass was real nice, beautiful psalms had been chosen and the priest did a nice job on his homily and speaking about my SIL. The ladies group at the church had a light lunch prepared for us. We all met up afterwards at my SIL's house and visited for awhile. I have spent some lovely times in that home and Saturday was no exception. She had almost totally remodeled it and it is gorgeous. She only had the hall bath to do and her kids are going to remodel that and then put it on the market. It will sell fast, especially once the prospective buyers get a look inside.

Late afternoon we all went to Chuys, about 25 of us for an early dinner. Fortunately the patio was free and we took the whole area over. Lil Joe and Lou Lou loved playing with their cousins. It was hard to get up this morning but we managed and headed home. We drove the scenic route this time which has less traffic. We stopped in Glen Rose for lunch, picked up some food at Sonic and ate it at a park nearby. The kids really needed out of the truck by then.

Dinner was Church's Chicken. I get a hankering for fried chicken, the whole piece kind, not the nuggets or strips, every now and then. We probably have it once a year if that. I love chicken but eating it reminds me why we don't buy it anymore. We only have the once chicken place so I guess it will have to do me for awhile. In fact it will. :)

Thinking of @dazedx3 and hoping they are doing ok there. Please check in when you can!

Mona I think I missed it and you probably ordered already, but I agree with Lynn, I thought some of those were a little too frilly. I did see a couple of others that I thought were nice this one and that one. I always bought the kids that type for school, and I still use one myself for work, as does DD. Ours are more of a bag style. DS uses a small cooler but he likes it. (Though twice last week he brought his bag but forgot to put his lunch inside. :lmao: I think he is distracted!) What will your Dad use it for? I wasn’t sure if he was retired or still working. I hope that some day you feel comfortable going out again. 🙏🏻

@Kirby it sounds like you had a wonderful trip. So glad, even though it was a tough event to commemorate.

I agree, Carol, when I sold my Mom‘s house for her it took two years and a lot of work and changing of realtors, etc. I was an hour away plus working an additional 45 mins in the opposite direction and sometimes after pulling a night shift had to drive there for something relatively trivial and still be back at 11pm that night. I was so glad when it finally sold! I had forgotten about that until you mentioned it. @Snowysmom, I can’t wait until you are settled!

I enjoyed reading your joy responses. It made me happy! 😊 It’s funny because when I walked into my kitchen after that post I found these. DH had picked them in our yard, apparently, and found a nice vase we had set aside, etc. Yellow is my favorite color, too, like sunshine! (You can see it on my walls - Mickey Mouse yellow - really!) So that was sort of a coincidental thing right after that post. He is good about giving me flowers, but when he doesn’t, I buy them for myself, as well. I had mixed feelings about picking them but he said it was fine. (“Aww, why’d you pick them?” 😱)

@easyas123 I noticed the thread I mentioned upthread was bumped up to page 1 again, here it is. Indirectly talked about subject you mentioned. https://www.disboards.com/threads/appropriate-age-sex-ed.3874901/

I hope everyone has a nice rest of the evening and a good start to their week! 🐥

My lunch bag preferences out of the ones I posted above I think are lunch bag 2 and Amazon choice (which I think will be the winner just need to decide between colors). Anyone want to weigh in? :)
I could not see the Walmart ones without putting an app on my phone, but I did like the yellow Amazon one (not so much the pink and blue one) or this one that came up below it in the suggestions:
https://www.amazon.com/Insulated-Du...81a2b&pd_rd_wg=4dVnu&pd_rd_i=B010VXBCF2&psc=1

All of your joy replies have also brought me joy to read :) ITA Kirby about singing in church and also in my heart to the Lord as well.

Carol, so sweet about Carter and Marty. I'm so glad the cousins got to meet.

Pea, I do agree with you (and Lynn) that the Walmart lunch bag first choices were too feminine and much. As I said, one of the Walmart choices this morning also struck me as being rather pale. Normally, I might not get for dad a brighter yellow choice. I did show him my towels as an example and he liked them. The real reason I think I went with the brighter yellow is dad has been through a lot over the last year. Time for some added sunshine for him. Again should he not like it, I will make very clear that he is absolutely free to exchange. After all, it's meant for him and with love :)

Thanks, PollyannaMom :)

Wishing all of you a good evening. Sweet dreams.

We've had prime free since last September through my bank. But DD usually pays for it anyway because she has a steady stream of packages delivered. I use it a lot more just because the shipping is 'free'. That said, I always double check items I order on Amazon because they can be less other places and sometimes items feel inflated.

Good morning. Sunny here and 28 degrees, going to mid 50's.

@Breezy_Carol--beautiful picture of the kids, thanks for sharing. Also, I never thought of the fact that you would get cold sitting in a walk in tub waiting for the water to drain. Thank you!

Cleaning day today, maybe go look at mowers if I can get Mr L going early enough. The grass needs mowing already, and I have my self propelled walk behind, I guess I might try doing it in pieces so not to overtire myself. At least it's cool enough to still do it without getting overheated.

Have a nice morning everyone

Good Monday morning.

Working from home today, good thing because I am exhausted. I couldn't turn my brain off last night to fall asleep and I was so tired. Worked all weekend, grabbed about 4 hours of sleep yesterday and then went out and cut my grass. I thought for sure I would fall asleep around 8:00, nope, more like 11:00.

Snowysmom - congrats on getting the condo and good luck with the sale of your house. Sounds like things are falling into place for you.

Our flight to MCO was cancelled in wee hours of morning. We can’t get there until late tomorrow!!
Hopefully you'll be able to start your vacation soon! This is already stressing me out for my July trip. I'm flying into Tampa so fingers crossed that it would be as busy.

The men's college basketball championship is tonight, so I'll be watching that. I watched a movie the other night that was really good, The Adam Project on Netflix. Two thumbs up.

Have a great day!

Good morning.

Sunny day. Meeting our invest guy this morning. That puts us in Wilmington at lunch time so we may have to stop at The Charcoal Pit. Hoping for a hike this afternoon and some yard work.

I never thought of the fact that you would get cold sitting in a walk in tub waiting for the water to drain.
I hadn't either until a patient mentioned that.

Good Morning :)

Precious kids, Carol! Prayers all goes quickly and smoothly for you and your DH today with the invest guy.

Safe travels to you, Bobbiwoz and continued prayers of health.

Judique, how awesome that you were able to get Prime free for so long! I have noticed that during the course of a day Amazon's prices fluctuate! I use Listerine Access Flosser and buy these mint flavored Refills Amazon sometimes will have a promotional coupon of an additional percentage off on the refills or every blue moon a $10 off when you spend X amount on oral care offer. The last time they had the % off offer I saw it one morning but did not immediately place my order because I didn't have Prime and dad and I were going to do more shopping later to reach the $25 minimum. "Later," the % offer was gone and the price of the refills was higher :P Like at the store, when you see something on Amazon (or any online site) that you need and at a good price, do not wait to buy it!

Lynn, take it easy and stay warm, my friend, please! Continued prayer for your stepdaughter!

Hug, Footballmouse and please get some rest!

PollyannaMom, sounds like a great day to stay home, be cozy, and find a good Hallmark movie or book to read! Stay well and warm out there!

Extra new week hug, Snowysmom and prayer for good house news today as well.

Thinking of you Pea, Kirby, Easyas, AuntieMe3, Apirateslifeforme, and all other Quackers so dear. Wishing all of my fellow Quacker family a good week ahead with love. Will check in later.

I left the house around 9:30 this morning after taking apart/removing the door handle from my back door. There's also a deadbolt so it was still secure.

Went to a hardware store, Lowes and Home Depot trying to find a lever set that would match style and color. I'd already looked on the websites but had decided I needed to buy something in person.

The metal post/receptor for one of the long screws that connects both sides together had broke on one side so it was very loose. When I took it apart, I didn't know the problem, just was trying to figure out how to tighten it.

So while looking at various sets, and buying a new set, I noticed 'lifetime warranty' on the side of the qwikset box, and snapped a pic of the customer service phone number.

Called when I got home and they are replacing the lever set - it's not a super expensive set, but it is $50 for the lever part. And, it has been installed for 14 years.

The biggest hurdle was trying to upload two pics. Something has changed in how you do this and it took forever for me to get 2 pics resized and attached. The (insert word of choice here) computer kept telling me oops something went wrong and that the pic didn't exist. Finally decided to email them from my phone in large size and resize on the computer. That worked better and I got decent 4mb shots.

I'm pretty surprised that the warranty was honored so easily, but very pleased. Reading through they asked for receipts and pictures but on the phone the CS said, just the picture would be fine. I may have the receipt in my big box of warranty stuff for everything ever installed in this house but so many of them fade to blank after years, and I didn't want to search for it.

I was also shopping for furnace filters. Big box stores had cheap flimsy ones at about $5 each. I found $3 ones at the hardware store that are a bit sturdier. I change them 1st of the month and usually buy a dozen at a time. I'm a bit late this month because I ran out. I'm way too cheap to buy a $40 one that supposedly lasts for many months and filters out all the allergens, but, these things get gross fast and once they are dirty the furnace may not function so well - restricted air flow. So some allergens may make it through but my furnace can breathe!

Good for you, Judique! And very good customer service, too!

Carol, I loved the children's moment from church yesterday, meant to tell you that.

The afternoon is brightening up a little bit which is, of course, an extra blessing. Dad is at the library (for now only afternoon hours are offered which is too bad but we're grateful that they are open for book pickup period) and post office. I always feel badly when he needs to go out twice in one day. Thankfully he should be home in not too long a time. I'm waiting for an Amazon delivery of his lunch bag. I need to decide when to give it to him. If it comes when he's not here, it'll be easier to save it until Easter. Otherwise, I'll tell him that it's truly part of an Easter and in a way early Father's Day gift, too.

Extra grateful this Monday for a really nice phone conversation with my cousins last night. Please do keep them in prayer. Health issues. Ruth did enjoy her TBAA and other birthday surprises. Also meant a lot that dad was able to share some homemade cookies with a few homeless folks and that God-willing this weekend ahead is when we will be making a big batch of chocolate chip cookies to be served at the Palm Sunday lunch in the park. Barbara Ann will pick those up along with Terri's birthday basket.

No call yet, btw, from 99. I will let all of you when I do hear from them :)

It looks like smilies are still "loading." Oh well.

Have a great rest of the afternoon and early evening friends.
