Home renovations. I want to rip out the upstairs carpet. And replace it with hardwood. Real wood, not the vinyl planking. Today I looked over the options at Costco. No wood. Now I'm scared to go to an actual flooring store. It may be out of my price range.

That's all for now.

Good afternoon.

@Snowysmom, sorry that condo didn't work out. What is P&S? And I did get to see Marty yesterday, in the NICU. I didn't hold him but talked to him. DD went today.

We went to church this morning. Things are getting more back to pre-pandemic. Then a guy came over to give us an estimate on some drywall work. After that I finished going through 4 sections of shelving and cleaning, organizing, throwing out, and putting in a box to donate. Watched the Maryland women's basketball game. Dinner is spaghetti and salad.

@Judique I am paying cash and not taking out a mortgage so for me 10K is really stretching my budget. I and the others bid way above asking price which is how it is in my area. You will not get a property in my area without going alot over asking. It is unethical to not allow the potential buyer to review the condo association documents before going any further. What if I don't agree with some of their rules or the way they do assessments or anything else. I have the right to know this before I go any further. My agent is very experienced and he has never seen a potential buyer not be able to see the condo docs before signing the Purchase and Sale. I trust him completely. I don't believe it is a foreclosure just based on what the selling agent said to us and to others. I also think the selling agent is related to the owner of the condo. I just don't get a good feeling from this and I do not want to be caught in a fiasco. I do appreciate your point of view and the info you have learned along the way. If I were taking out a mortgage 10K would not be a big consideration but it is more than just the 10K increase. I feel more comfortable passing on this one and moving on. I have learned to trust my gut. It is a new week and hopefully more condos come onto the market.

The quilter just sent a picture of the finished quilt and pillows made from Chris' shirts. I am so happy I did this. They are wonderful. He always wore the blue shirt that I had a pillow made from. It seems like every picture I see he is wearing this shirt. He had blue blue eyes and it brought out the blue so much. The stitching is stars and planets as he was an amateur astronomer. I pick them up next weekend.

Good morning all. It's 36 outside now, going to be sunny and 66. Some of my tomato seedlings have started pushing their way up and out of the potting soil..hurray!

I am tired this morning..went to bed with a headache at 9:30,,couldn't fall asleep till midnite, woke up at 6. Might get the weedwacker out of the cellar and trim the grass that's sprouting in weird patches, along with garlic chives in the side yard. Within a couple of weeks, the whole lawn will need mowing. Even the rhubarb seems to be coming up awfully early, so its definitely Spring. My official first day of it, is when I see robins out back, lol!

Have a nice day everyone~

Happy Monday morning ☀ .

Lots to catch up on.

Breezy_Carol - congrats on your new grandson. Hopefully he will be out of the NICU soon.

AuntiMe3 - I'm sure you were so excited to finally get to meet your new grandbaby.

Snowysmom - sorry the condo didn't work out, sounded like it would have been perfect.

Tazdev - my sister & her husband are going on an Alaskan cruise in July also :boat:. This is their 2nd cruise to Alaska. Their first one was in 2015, while they were docked there, they went up to visit my son since he was stationed in Alaska. That was a nice treat for him.

Worked all weekend, kind of slow, had a lot of discharges .

Working from home today but I have to go back in the office this week, my boss is back from vacation .
Have a great week. :bounce:

I need to find some rhubarb to plant. Whenever I see it in a grocery store, it's not looking too great.

Strawberry Rhubarb pie would be at least a one of. Tastes from my childhood I guess.

I hope everyone has a good Saturday! 🐣 What’s for dinner tonight, btw? We have some chicken marinating and some corn on the cob and maybe rice
I think that we are having that exact menu this evening :thumbsup2
Waiting for an Amazon package
Me, too. I've got a few things showing up today. I already know I have to return one item, as it occurred to me I ordered the wrong size. Oh well, I don't need them right now so I can just exchange.
had a surprise phone call..both of the stepsons are coming up from Ocean City/Salisbury. Will be here in a few hours. I haven't seen the oldest one since Mr L was in the hospital (July) and the other one since November
That's a nice surprise, I'm sure your husband really enjoyed his visit with them. I'm headed to Salisbury myself shortly -
We did get to visit with baby Marty today. Mom is in one tower at Johns Hopkins and Marty is in another. That place is huge. He is still in NICU but making progress toward going home. Mom is doing well too
So glad to hear everyone is doing well. Do they know when they can take him home yet?
I said OK but it bothered me all night. Something did not feel right.
And that is A-Ok. Don't take it personal, just move on. We used to second guess ourselves and wonder what we could have done different if we lost out on a property, but have come to realize that we ducked a lot of headaches by not getting that particular property or house! We put a bid on our current farm of what we thought it was worth and what we could afford. It was declined, and so although we really wanted it we moved on. It ended up they never sold it and it came back on the market about a year later. At a price point that better reflected the market, so we offered again and got it.
You could also rent for 6 months after you sell your place and see what comes on the market then, giving yourself time to find what it right with no pressure.
The market will always change and fluctuate. No two days are the same. So, keep your hand on your wallet and keep trying
Agreed - good advice.
Dinner is spaghetti and salad.
Hey! That's what we had last night!
The quilter just sent a picture of the finished quilt and pillows made from Chris' shirts. I am so happy I did this.
That looks great - what a cool idea. I especially love the pillows.
Have a great week
you as well -

Nothing new to report here. Busy weekend, but got a lot done. Getting ready to head down to Salisbury, MD to pick up some paperwork.
Dinner will be the Pea-& - Me special - chicken breast w/ corn and rice.

Happy Monday, all! 🐥

Glad for seeing and holding new babies! :goodvibes

Snowysmom, I’m sorry things didn’t work out with the condo you liked. All reports are (as I’m sure you know) that buying anything right now is crazy difficult. I was thinking the same thing as Judique about the $10K. I know it’s a lot of money, but in the scheme of things, today especially, with bidding wars and prices as they are, it might not be that much if it gets you your dream home. When we were buying our house we were apart by I think it was $1500, and neither side wanted to budge. Finally the realtor said “I’ll kick in the money out of my commission just to make the sale”, and she did. It sounds like there was an element of distrust, though, and that can be a deal breaker, for sure. Unethical behavior can (and should) be reported to the regulating agencies of real estate licensing. People shouldn’t take advantage of others just because we’re in this tough economy right now. That’s low. BTW I adore your quilt and pillows! :lovestruc I should get the name of the person who made them for you, I saved all the kids’ T shirts with the intention of doing that for their graduations, but never got around to it. I would still like to do it sometime when I can gather them all together again. (Maybe as we purge the house.)

@Judique, impressive amount of real estate knowledge! 👍🏻 (I like to follow RE too, and thought at one time about getting my license, but always had enough on my plate!)

I feel like we got a lot accomplished this weekend, but also had time for some R&R, which was nice. We took everything off the front and screened porches and power washed. Of course it started pouring rain, and I mean pouring, while we were out there, so we were wet, but it was fine. DS put together my new set that I bought and it’s perfect out on my screened porch along with my two rockers. DH gave me back my rug from his workshop. He said he had to take a few fish hooks out of it 😳 hopefully he got them all and I don’t get one in my foot this summer! (I would not be happy about that!) Even though it was a little chilly, last night we sat out there with a candle and wine, and it was a nice way to start off the season. (I have to buy some new electric candles for out there, the ones I’ve had have had it.)

I can’t remember which night it was, maybe Friday, but we made some chicken tenders that were absolutely delish, it had been marinating in Italian dressing (probably a little too long 😅 ). Served it grilled with corn on the cob and baked potato. Last night we were going to order subs but I remembered I‘d bought some baloney so we fried it up (like DH and I used to have as kids) with some provolone and mustard, and grilled the rolls (which DH says is key) and it was good! Kids gave it a bit of a sideye (as I don’t usually buy it but I was talking to the girl at the deli and it seemed like a good idea at the time  ) but they liked it, too. Sort of like a hot dog, as DH says. Had salad with it to keep it somewhat healthy, lol. I saw that roasts are on sale so I am planning to make one, maybe for tonight.

I envy the screening on your porch! I have a small side deck that adjoins my larger deck and I really want it screened in. I've tried doing a small 8 by 8 gazebo there but you still get rain and mosquitos. Plus I didn't take the top off before it snowed and it got squished. Had to cart it off. Not a big deal as it was really old and had some rust anyway. A framed and screened area with a door is more to my liking. On the patio is a cedar gazebo and it's perfectly fine, just not screened.

But, I just don't want to go through all the permit hassles so probably not going to happen. Maybe I'll shop for another small but temporary shelter.

Aww. I hope you can get yours! There was a screen porch thread a month or two ago where I explained how DH did it (and the process it took us to get there!). We added an in-law addition and put a big porch along the front of both houses. But the in-law section of the porch had a roof. DH just put up screen panels and doors, so it was relatively simple. (No permit required as everything but the screens was already there.) It’s small but nice, as we get loads of mosquitoes where we are and you really can’t sit outside without screens at that point. It’s also shady during the day which makes it a nice hideaway in heat if you want to still be outside. A couple of years ago I had bought some other chairs to go out there but they were too big for that space. I moved them out back which has a bigger deck and fire pit area.

For anyone wanting a screen porch in summer, if you have a deck and roof overhang (or wall) the Patio Mate ones aren’t bad. Sold at places like BJ’s.

Good Morning 🐥 and Happy Monday,

:grouphug:Snowysmom, I am also so sorry about the condo. Absolutely do not be rushed or pressured into making a permanent choice! You will know, as placed into you by God, the right place at the right time. You truly will. Be still, pray, and let Him continue to guide you in all ways, of course not just on the house hunt. The quilt is beautiful. May it wrap you extra up in love both of Chris and of God!

Continued prayer for baby Marty, Carol!

Feel better, dear Lynn, please take care.

Enjoy your week off, Pea! How wonderful that both you and your DH have this time off together. Celebrate :) Toto, as always, is looking just precious.

I would love a place with a screened in porch or sun room! Great that some of you have that now. It was wonderful to see so many new posts this morning. My thanks to each of you, every day, for helping to strengthen our Quacker family bond with your love, support, and sharing.

Monday hug and love to all. Will check in later.

I love the picture of Toto. He sure is one handsome guy. I hope you have a nice week off with some relaxing time.

I am disappointed the condo did not work out but so happy that someone had my back and I did not go further into the deal to find out there are some integrity issues with the agent and seller. My sister told me that she was upset when the vacation home they were looking at was sold to someone else. But, the next one they looked at turned out to be perfect for their family. I hope things work out like that. Offers are due today at 5 on my house. My agent said there are 2 offers so far. Last week about 12 different parties went to see the house on private appts with their realtors. So, there is interest. There isn't much on the market in my town under $1M and my neighborhood is one of the best in town just because it is a bit in its' own area, nice trees, and a wide street. It is very pretty. It is not high class, just a nice family place. I will miss it but to be honest, no one in my family is left in the house with me so it is time for me to move on too.

Jetblue changed the time we leave Orlando in October so now it is 10 instead of 11:30. My younger DS tried to change to a later flight but they want $500 for him to do so because of the special deal we got on the flights when we booked. I figure we can get up early, get picked up for the airport around 7:15 am, and the kids will be tired enough to sleep on the plane. Now I have to call Tiffany Towncar to change the pick up time.

Have a good rest of the day.

Good afternoon.

Back from Baltimore. DH and I visited Marty then had lunch with DS. DDIL had a sore throat so had to be tested for COVID and strep, both negative, but she had a rough morning so was napping and we didn't see her. She was glad we were there so someone was with Marty until she could be again. She may go home tomorrow but Marty will stay in the NICU, no guess on how long. Breathing improved so that he is off oxygen but he isn't eating well enough yet. Just takes time.

@Pea-n-Me, your screen porch looks very nice. I know we enjoy ours.

Slipping thread save!

:hug:Snowysmom

Prayers for your DDIL, Carol!

Quiet afternoon here. Dad and I finished wrapping and labeling Ruth's gifts. Her birthday is not for almost 2 weeks but because we're sending the package media mail, we will do so by the end of the week. Steve knows the contents are all wrapped inside the envelope to make for easy discarding of outer packaging and stashing away of the contents :)

Grateful extra this day for a warmup starting tomorrow, kind PM's, and once again seeing a much more normal looking Sanctuary via online worship. Praise God all-around, of course, always.

Sweet dreams to all :)
