Sounds like things are moving along @Snowysmom and @TazDev

Today was a beautiful day. I took an old friend out to lunch for her birthday. We went to kindergarten and elementary school together, so have been friends for that long. It was as if no time at all had passed. Kids are around the same age so we had lots to catch up on. I went home by way of the ocean and it was nice to see a lot of people out enjoying the day. Had a sudden urge for an ice cream cone at one of my favorite haunts, but the line was out the door, so I skipped it this time. (Bummer! 😫 ) Unfortunately short lived nice weather as we’ll be getting another snow storm Friday, and of course I have to work! I haven’t had good luck this winter with timing of storms.

DH turned wrong when he was putting on his shoes so he’s been hobbling around. Fun getting older, isn’t it?

I wanted to make a Mediterranean Salad for dinner today but DD beat me to it, and made it for lunch. We had some for dinner. For lunch I had a really delicious butternut squash soup. I‘ve seen some more things on Instagram I want to try making. As I’ve said here before, I’m not much of a “recipe” person, so I like these videos as they just show you what to do. One I saw was a “lazy man’s lasagna” using raviolis, sauce and cheese, layered. (Could also add meat.) Another that looked pretty cool was in a big sauté pan putting onions, garlic, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, etc., and as they’re cooking, put a pound of spaghetti in the pan (with the liquid from those) and cover until done. DH and I were both like, yeah, let’s try that one! We’re all about keeping things simple at this stage. (We’re tired from our jobs!)

I called to get an appt to look at a dog in a shelter today but never heard back. I’m pretty certain the dog will be gone by the time they call me back. But we’ll see. It’s a puppy. 😵 (Quick! Someone talk me out of this! Lol. Just kidding.)

Oh, the QOTD I never answered. There are so many birds I enjoy watching, it’s hard to say. But I love the chickadee, our state bird. And cardinals, of course. Hummingbirds. Mockingbirds. Woodpeckers. (I have one tapping oupside of my bedroom a lot.) We saw an owl at FW last year, it was up in a tree watching us. We’d arrived around midnight and took the golf cart around for a spin. He flew right in front of us, but we were able to see where he landed. That was pretty neat. I enjoyed hearing about the birds that all of you enjoy! DH feeds the birds so we see a lot of different ones in our yard. It’s peaceful. We also have a lot of wild turkeys around, sometimes they hop up on our roof! Or jump the fence to get into our yard, or the neighbors’ yards. Toto is not too happy when that happens. Nor with the squirrels or bunnies we have. DH did see a skunk in the yard the other night. We might have to do the humane trap to relocate him! Have had many skunk sprays late at night w our dogs! Pewww!

Good morning..just about freezing temp this morning. Our ice storm watch is now a warning, from 5 pm till tomorrow morning. Its funny though, when it was a watch, it said we would get 3/10 of an inch, now that its a warning, they say 1/10'th of an inch, shouldn't it have gone up and not down? LOL
No plans for the day yet, my left leg is still aching this morning,,and it made it hard to find a comfy position to sleep in last nite. I just took a Tylenol Arthritis to see if that helps. If not, I am just going to elevate it and alternate heat and cold.

@Snowysmom--I am glad you held your ground and told the stager to go minimal and not to remove your stuff. I also think that's very nice of you to give your neighbors friend first chance at buying it. You would feel more comfortable knowing that the person living there, really wants to live there, and has no plans to tear it down or rebuild it.

@Pea-n-Me that Lazy Man's Lasagna sounds intriguing. Going to look it up after I get off here

Have a nice day everyone,,stay safe if you are in the storm path

Happy Thursday! :cold:

It is cold and rainy this morning. Decided to work from home today, we had freezing rain overnight and so much ice on the roads, wrecks all over the place. I need new brakes to begin with so I wasn't taking the chance. Ds1 said he was out salting all night.

I have a cat laying on my lap so it's quite hard to type, :cat:, lord knows I don't want to disturb him. :-)

Watched the Amazing Race last night, happy with the results. I liked the team that was in jeopardy and feel they deserve to be there.

A friend and I from work were talking over the weekend and she mentioned that she wanted to go on vacation this summer and I mentioned that the two of us should just go to a beach. I was supposed to be going to Vegas and then to Disneyland in November but Ds1 backed out and it looks like Ds3 is going to back out. I decided to hell with them, I'll go with my friend. She's looking for cheap flights to Florida and then I'll start looking for a hotel. Haven't been on vacation since 2018 so I'm ready to go! :beach:

That's it for me, have a great day! :yay:

Good morning! Weather - I think when they go from watch to warning, it's referring to the condition being more imminent. Hopefully you won't get any ice. I think that's almost worse than snow.

Real Lazy Woman's Lasagna - buy the already prepared ravioli lasagna at Costco and stick it in the oven. I'm just not inspired to cook anymore and I look for anything at Costco that will feed us a meal that's under $20. Or preferably under $15. Comes out less expensive than not cooking and ordering takeout.

I've also got a Sam's Club (free) membership and went there this week. They had the same Realgood frozen chicken portions that Costco sells but in a slightly different flavor. Sam's is a little farther to go but I've got time to wander.

Sometimes you just gotta get up and go! I hope you find a great beach spot in Florida. One guy on the boards writes a bit about his family going to Sanibel and posted pics (a while back, I couldn't find the posts) of a deserted beach near the house they rented. I'm a 'walk on the beach in the morning or evening' type of beach lover, so any spot with sand and water works for me.

It's supposed to rain here later and the temp has dropped from 70ties yesterday to 30ties today. Sooner or later spring will happen. I've already got some little jonquils in my yard:

Good idea, except that we have no Costco's within an almost hours drive, lol!--same with Sam's and BJ's..none near here

Good morning. Cold with rain and sleet in the forecast for later. Certainly different from yesterday.

Grocery list made, just have to go this afternoon. Plan to bake brownies and wrap shower gifts.

I totally agree. So glad it was non-elimination. The team that came in third needs to go next. Of the other three, I like Kim and Penn best but they are all deserving.

We love Sanibel. I highly recommend Oceans Reach Resort. I have compared prices of similar condos and this was the best. They are nice people and beautiful condos. We fly to Fort Myers to get there. or drive.

A little note about the jonquils in my yard:

For the past 30 or so years jonquils bloom in my front yard, back yard, middle of the yard, around the foundation, out by the street, everywhere a few.

So I let them bloom and then I dig the bulbs up and move them to a bed location.

But, they keep on coming!! I think I've got them all and more come up in a slightly different spot the next year.

This year I may try digging while they still have flowers. Maybe I'm just letting those bulb pieces get away when I let the flowers die off.

It's not a problem, just my need to organize the things growing.

We don’t have a Costco, either! We have BJ’s, and I’ve had memberships in the past, but warehouse clubs aren’t really my thing. I also find a lot of pre made things are super salty. I do like many of the interesting things that Aldi’s has, and they’re almost always really good.

@Judique those look like daffodils to me, I have never heard them called jonquils. Are they the same? They are lovely, and I can’t wait to see ours come up! I do see something starting to grow. Too bad they’ll be covered in snow very shortly!

We are fortunate to live near the beach and get to walk them or relax on them anytime! A beach vacation, to me, would be like being home, lol. I usually like to do other things, although one of my favorite vacations ever was to Aruba. We didn’t have a ton of beach time there, though, just a little. I loved relaxing by the pool and watching the steel drum band outside our condo every afternoon around 4pm. That was heavenly! I’m glad you’ll have a relaxing getaway with your friend, @footballmouse!

Yes, I think watch or warning has to do with the probability. So a watch of 3/10 of an inch will be worse IF you get it, but you're less likely TO get it. A warning of 1/10 of an inch means less precip, but you're more sure to get it.

We went to Aruba years ago. I loved it too!

...and I'm going to wish I was there tomorrow. - We're in the 4"-8" zone.

(Poor DS is in the 8"-11". :scared1: )

I’m scared to even look at the Zones! The only good thing is that the roads shouldn’t be too crowded, hopefully!

Stay safe!

I googled and what I understood is that they are similar and all from genus Narcissus - which I thought was a different flower. So, whatever they are, they are same family.

I've always called them jonquils, but was aware that some called them daffodils.

Paperwhites are also same family. I love them but think they are too smelly inside - some designers will show them as part of table settings.

Good Morning,

I was nice and warm in bed last night snuggled under my new comforter. At first, it was too warm, so I pulled it off and replaced it with my red blanket. Shortly after, the cold set in and how welcome was the extra warmth of the bright comforter. What's sometimes weird is now that I'm in well into perimenopause, while I am cold most of the day (thank goodness for my night shirt though. That truly has made such a difference along with my slippers) I for some reason feel warmer in bed at night. Maybe because ☃ me is finally warm. Blessed indeed always and in all ways for the warm shelter of the Lord and also in cozy blankets, too.

It is so welcoming to read shares of trips to come and also to see bursts of new life growing in your yards, too. Thank you, friends, always for sharing.

Dad is going off on a few errands this morning. Praying he stays warm out there. Hoping he'll find a birthday basket for Terri among other (much more needed) things, of course.

Stay warm, everyone and please be safe.

I'll check in later :)

I can't believe it's only Thursday. It has been a LONG week here. Ready for the weekend for sure.

Having friends over for dinner tomorrow. Someone mentioned lasagna somewhere here and now I'm getting lasagna for tomorrow.

We're going on a cruise in March for the first time since 2009... man the process has certainly changed.
