Happy Friday! :dogdance:

Weather is going to take a turn towards bad starting later today. Yesterday the wind and rain was really bad but it didn't get too cold, this weekend the rain, cold and possibly snow starts :(. I don't like the winter months, hate shoveling snow and having to put on a coat, scarf and everything else to keep warm to go outside. I really need to live in Florida :sunny:, but it will never happen.

Tonight I'm meeting a friend for a "sip & shop" with vendors. I think I'll grab a daiquiri and do some shopping. Ds1 has a new cat and we also acquired a cat this year so they'll both need a Xmas ornament so hopefully someone will be there that sells those. We usually go to a craft show at the high school but since I work just about every weekend, I couldn't go to that.

That's about it for me. I actually have work I need to get to, plus I want to clean my house sometime today, I work this weekend so that's not an option. Hope everyone has a great weekend and stay warm. :cool2:

Operation Fireside which is run by the Red Cross in Cape May is again being sorely cut back due to Covid.

All are invited to sign Christmas Cards, maybe write a brief message, and put in an envelope, but do not seal the individual cards as they will be screened for appropriate content. Thanking recruit for service and wishing happy holidays are appropriate.

Then put the cards in a larger envelope and mail to the address in this newspaper article. For Thanksgiving, to mail 12 cards this way was under $2, so I don’t think the cost is prohibitive.

I realize this whole thread is a way to get through this pandemic together. I just thought some of you would like to do this! :)

Good morning..will be our last day in the 60's also. It dumped down rain around 3 am, now the sun is out. But you could feel the wind and cold front coming through a couple of hours ago. I put the blankets on the chairs and swing for the cats who sleep on the front porch. The rest either sleep in boxes under the front porch, or in the boxes I have set up in 'what used to be' the wood shed. Since we are no longer burning wood, it's just a big shed, lol

I know I am lucky that our mattress/frame/pedastal were in stock. We really only have 2 furniture stores close to here, and I called the other on Tuesday and there is a month long (at least) wait. This place had 2 of the mattresses, plenty of frames, and 1 low profile platform, which is what we needed. So anyone else wanting one now, is going to be waiting, lol!

I am off to find that recipe someone had posted about the sirloin tip thing cooked with onion soup and gravy in the crockpot, as that will be tonites dinner

The only other thing I am doing today, is getting the screen window out of the back door and putting in the storm. Summer will have to help me get the front storm door one in when she is here this weekend

Have a lovely Friday,,be thankful for something today, even if it's just a small one!901ubk.jpg

🐥🤣

Pollyannamom, your cat is so lucky that you take him outside like that! Glad your DH is doing better, Bobbiwoz!

I love the memory quilt idea, too! That will be so nice and comforting, Snowysmom. I saved all the kids‘ TShirts to do them for them for graduation, but never got around to it. Maybe I can do it when they get their houses or something.

I washed my car last week, but missed going to the place I like to go usually, where they wash it, and you can pay a little extra (very reasonable, I think) for them to vacuum, armorall and clean windows in the interior. DH asked me what I want for Christmas and I suggested a car detail. I love those!

Lynn, you sound a lot more like your usual self. That’s good. Make sure you watch your sodium intake (not more than 2000mg per day) and fluid intake (not more than 2 liters a day), and weigh yourself every day to make sure your weight stays stable. If it goes up suddenly, that can be fluid weight gain, and that’s what makes it hard to sleep when there is fluid in your lungs.

I like what Lynn posted yesterday about being alive. It has special meaning for me this week. I took care of someone this past weekend who was young (younger than me anyway), and we hit it off. Talked about all kinds of things, including both our mothers (!), where we grew up (sort of near eachother), travel, etc, but mostly about us both having had cancer. So when I went in later in the week, he wasn’t there, and I couldn’t find him anywhere. I was surprised, but thought maybe he went home. Until I saw that he had passed away. I won’t lie, I sat with my head in my hands for a few mins at the shock of it, then cried. I knew he was quite ill, but nobody was expecting that right then. Life really is precious, and none of us ever know for sure what the future holds. RIP, my friend, until we meet again. 🙏🏻

Sitting here with my Toto having coffee. DS is sending pics from Magic Kingdom this morning, which opened at 0630. It looks beautiful, and not overly crowded. Splash and Pirates were walk on. His GF’s mom texted me to say he‘s been an A+ tour guide! Glad he is having a good time. I think he is in a good place right now. His previous job was getting to be too much. They were having him work two week stretches without a day off, and conditions were brutal at times. He wasn’t himself, and things were getting worse, so he left that job and got another, which has been fantastic. His instinct was spot on, and he is back to his old self. He’s learning a lot now, and at the same time, taking steps for his future. When he gets back, he’ll be busy. He face timed me on his walk to get coffee this morning and it was so nice to “see” him. Still sort of blows my mind how fast the years went by and he was, what seems like not too long ago, just a little boy at that same resort!

Well DH and I have a rare weekend off together by ourselves. DD is working, and DS is away. We have some things planned for tomorrow that should be fun. Hopefully I’m not too exhausted to enjoy a day out, and the weather stays decent. (I think we might have a storm coming, though.) Fully appreciating how fortunate we are to have this time together. Ugh, just as I wrote this, boss texted me to ask me to work. Haven’t responded yet. What to do, what to do. 😖 It must mean they’re desperate. Will have to think about it. Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning.

Dreary Friday here. According to my car it's 61 degrees and it's raining. I'm sitting outside the laundromat waiting to put the laundry in the dryer. I prefer doing this right now because it is cheap. Usually only $6 a week and I can't do it home for that. Plus I can sit and think. I need that today.

I took my granddaughter and grandson to Lancaster yesterday. It was nice to spend some time with them as they are getting older now. It's nicer that they want to spend some time with me. We did go to the cemetery and found my 3X great grandparents graves and a groundhog. The kids liked the groundhog. We also got some nice fall pictures of the one covered bridge. I am thankful the weather was nice.

Getting a haircut later today and looking forward to it. Hope everyone has a nice day

Good Morning

Have fun with your grandkids, Carol :)

:hug:Bobbiwoz, what wonderful news on Tom, praise God, and thank you for updating us. Good to see you post, too. Adding in, I saw your later post, God Bless you and thank you for sharing with us about and participating in Operation Fireside, I love that! As part of my Smile Squad ministry vision for a church post pandemic, I look so forward to doing something like that locally.

:grouphug:PollyannaMom, please stay safe and cozy at home!

I hope you have a good time, Footballmouse and don't work too hard this weekend either!

:hug:Taz, sitting and thinking, being still is a great thing to do. At this moment, my dad is probably almost ready to sit in his car out front of the laundromat!
It's already warm here :dogdance: I finally started watching my first Hallmark Christmas movie yesterday. I'll watch more of it shortly. The Christmas Ornament. I remember it vaguely from last year but not what happens. Looking forward to a warmer weekend.

Happy Friday to all!

Lynn Glad that you are back to your usual self. How nice that you were able to get a nice new bed and have it delivered soon.

@flyingdumbo127 Thank you for the idea of having a stuffed animal made for me too. My brain is a bit off lately and I never thought of that. I found someone on Etsy who does stuffed dogs from shirts and she has good reviews and is reasonable. I need 7 dogs made, 6 for grandkids and one for me.

I drove route 495 in the pouring rain and it was quite the adventure. I am back to DS's house out of the rain. I did not hear about a possible tornado but not surprised as it is really raining alot right now and is windy.

I met with the woman who makes the memory quilts. Her work is beautiful. She has such great ideas and is very open to suggestions. She will incorporate alot of the polo shirts into the quilt including the collar and buttons, the pocket area (Chris only wore polo shirts with a chest pocket so including a couple of pockets is so appropriate), and she will use the dress shirts and 2 Bingo T shirts too. We picked out a color for the back of the quilt and it is a rich merlot color. We both picked that color based on the colors of Chris' shirts. If she puts the quilt together and doesn't think that color would work well she will contact me. I have 2 other colors that she could use, navy or cappuccino. Her pillows are also lovely. She is going to try to get a stitch design that is telescopes and stars. I can also write up something to be put on the back side of the quilt, on a square, that will be permanently dyed on it. I already know what I want there. I am really excited to see the finished product. She won't start it until January as she is booked up but I told her I have the time. This is such a wonderful way to remember Chris. I will have a part of him with me always.

I am back to the house tomorrow and possibly Sunday. I may take a day off but then I remember that I go back to work on the 29th so I will only have weekends to go to the house then. I need to take advantage of the time I have. I am really putting the miles on the car but that is really short term. Soon it will only be 2 days a week to the house. I wish I could stay there overnight but at this point I am not able to and may not be able to at all. I do want to try after the holidays. I need to know if I can do it. If I can't then I know I really need to sell and buy a condo. I doubt I could work from my house though and that is a big issue. I want to work from wherever I am as I prefer that to going to the office.

Have a nice weekend.

:grouphug:❤Snowysmom, you are such a courageous lady, my friend. Much love and extra prayer to you! I am so happy you are getting yourself the dog! That sounds wonderful and how fun and special that your grandkids will have similar memory dogs too. From Heaven Jasper likes that as does your dear Chris. The quilt sounds beautiful. I look forward to seeing a picture of the finished product.

Nice, warm afternoon here. Just got Amazon delivery of Kleenex and waiting on regular mail plus one Walmart package.

Are any of you going to the Dollar Tree this weekend or anytime soon? There is only one Dollar Tree (the one dad went to yesterday) close (half hour or so away so not right around the block) to us. Their Christmas section was quite small. I would appreciate a PM. I always appreciate each of you dear Quackers 🐥

Hello to all Quackers. I've been reading, but not posting. The days are just flying by at the moment. I can't believe Thanksgiving is coming up in just over 2 weeks! I bought a turkey breast today. I'm not even sure what are plans are, but I wanted to have one in case we end up being home.

lunxstch - so glad to hear that you are home and doing so much better. I'm guessing Mr. L. is also happy to have you back.

snowysmom - Sending you hugs. Sounds like you are making a lot of progress with the house. One step in front of the other.

I'm a not enjoying it getting dark so early. I clearly have not adjusted to the time change. I still don't understand why we have to do it. I wish somebody would finally just end it.

I'm working on getting cards sent out. I usually send out early so when the craziness of December gets here I have one less thing to think about.

Take Care All

Hello everyone, I have been reading but not posting. Life has not been very easy. My DH's cancer has returned, stage 4. He is experiencing a fair amount of pain. I'm having a really hard time with this. He just retired and we had so many plans. It's not fair!!

Tomorrow we are having the memorial service for my sister. I wrote something but I don't think I can get through it without crying.

I am having a knee replacement on the 24th. So no Thanksgiving for us. I was going to cancel it but the family and DH want me to go through with it.

I have been keeping you all in thoughts and prayers. Prayers especially for Lynn and Snowysmom.

Thank you for thinking of me, with all you have going on. So very sorry to hear about your husbands cancer return. Sending prayers his way. I hope you can make it through the memorial service for your sister, if you cry, you cry..just do and say whatever is in your heart
Will be sending more prayers your way for your knee replacement, you are going through way too much
God Bless

Dazedx3 So sorry to hear about your husband's cancer. Sending prayers for him and your family. Knee replacement will be a good thing for you. You will feel better, stronger, and able to get around so much better. :grouphug:

I am off to get my 3,000 mile checkup on the car and then to the house for more, you guessed it, cleaning. It is a never ending job. Younger DS will be helping me today. The guys do the heavy lifting.

Have a nice day.

Good morning..its 45 out now, our high will be 44 and it will hit the freezing mark tonite :(
Stepdaughter is coming over today to help take apart our bed, and move it to the spare room, then we can clean the carpet, I want to clean and lubricate the ceiling fan and put up the new blinds that have been sitting in a box in the cellar since covid started. We bought them for the whole house, and were waiting to paint first, but since we are sprucing up our room, we may as well get them up too. I have new curtains and a new bedspread in their bags waiting to be washed and put on as soon as the new bed is here

I made those sirloin tips over noodles last nite..they were very good, but a bit oniony for my taste, as I am not a fan of onions, lol
Have a nice day all

Just a quick check-in this morning, as we are heading up to Maine to see DS for his birthday. :donald: (Today is not his actual birthday, but it's his closest day off.)

So sorry to hear about your DH, @dazedx3

Yesterday's weather was not fun, but thankfully I did not hear of any actual tornadoes happening.

I think...maybe...knock on wood...that we are slowly getting a little used to the time change. The kitties didn't get me up until 5:20 this morning, and I slept way better than the night before.

Dazed, I am sorry to hear that news. I’m glad you let us know. I hope they can offer your DH some treatments. And I wish you good luck with your surgery. :flower3:

Pollyannamom, happy you get to see your son today! :goodvibes

Good thoughts for everyone else to have a good day. 🐣

Good Morning,

Thinking of Kirby extra and praying she and her family are all better and of course for a peaceful resolution with her DD's Ex.

Yay that you will get to see your son, PollyannaMom. I think I'm also getting more used to the time change. Still don't like it though!

Stay warm, Lynn, please!

:hug:Snowysmom, such kind and good advice to Dazed. You please take care today also and always know we all care!

Dear Pea, prayers you have a good Saturday, too.

Another warm day here :) It is supposed to be much cooler by the middle of next week so I'm enjoying the warmth extra now 🌞Cooler weather will be handy next Thursday because dad and I will be baking chocolate chip cookies🍪 My friend Deborah from church, who heads up the feeding in the park ministry, will be coming by to pick up most of them. It will be such a blessing to be able to contribute this year to that ministry's annual Thanksgiving in the park lunch the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

❤to all and Happy Saturday!
