Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Hello everyone, I have been reading but not posting. Life has not been very easy. My DH's cancer has returned, stage 4. He is experiencing a fair amount of pain. I'm having a really hard time with this. He just retired and we had so many plans. It's not fair!!

Tomorrow we are having the memorial service for my sister. I wrote something but I don't think I can get through it without crying.

I am having a knee replacement on the 24th. So no Thanksgiving for us. I was going to cancel it but the family and DH want me to go through with it.

I have been keeping you all in thoughts and prayers. Prayers especially for Lynn and Snowysmom.

((huggles))

Good afternoon.

Had an enjoyable day with the grandkids yesterday but they sure do tire me out. I didn't sleep well the night before. We went to the newish library in the next town that has a gorgeous children's room. They both had a lot of fun there. Home for lunch then Carter napped. Tessa and I made cookies and she had set the dining room table for a pretend Thanksgiving dinner and wanted to make place cards. She got paper and a pencil then asked how to spell each name and wrote them out. She did a great job for 4 1/2.

After they went home, DH and I went to a Mexican restaurant we like. I had a margarita with dinner. We came home and I usually stay up to 11 or so. I ended up asleep by 10:30 and slept until 8 this morning. This is unheard of for me. I usually sleep 7 hours. I must have been exhausted.

Today, just house chores and laundry.

I saved all the kids‘ TShirts to do them for them for graduation, but never got around to it.
I knit DD an afghan when she went to college. DS didn't want one but I saved T shirts to quilt. 15 years later and they are still in a bin in the attic.

@Pea-n-Me, I'm sorry your patient passed unexpectedly.

DS is sending pics from Magic Kingdom this morning,
How nice!

@dazedx3, sorry to hear of your DH's illness.

Cold and dreary day, and I am lazy.

Well our old bed is apart, and the mattress moved into the spare room, and bed made so I can sleep in it tonite. Nothing in our room but the 2 bureaus, 2 night stands, a corner stand with Disney stuff on it, and a blanket on the floor for the cats to sleep on,,lol. I washed 4 sets of sheets, 3 mattress covers, a load of clothes and a load of towels. Then I vacuumed under the beds after Summer got the mattresses out. She took the old set they are taking away out to the wood shed, so that is out of the way. I am tired and going to sit and do nothing but fix dinner the rest of the day.
Have a nice evening

Younger DS and I worked hard today and got alot done at the house. We had a nice lunch together. It was nice to chat with him. We just do takeout from one of the places down the street. DH and I were supposed to be in Disney today so I am having some trouble with that. It was not a big well planned trip, more like a casual relaxing type of trip so I hope I can put things into perspective as the week goes on. The funny thing is while I was sorting stuff to save or throw out I came across so much Disney stuff from previous trips. I kind of felt like the powers that be were just rubbing it in but maybe it was to bring up good memories of previous trips. There were pictures of DH, me, and the boys on Splash Mountain and Test Track as well as their autograph books and a Donald Duck pin. All of those are keepers. There were some other things too. Lots of tears today. DS understood and he was quiet for a while. Younger DS told me that my oldest DGD had a project in school where she was to talk about someone she loves. She picked her wonderful Grandpa who she misses dearly. I am sleeping over their next weekend and DS said she wants to give it to me. One of the things she said is Grandpa always played Cookie Monster with me. DH would chase the kids around pretending to steal cookies. They would put him in jail and he would escape to steal more cookies. She and Grandpa did have a special bond.

Older DS and family are off to a movie so I will have quiet time. Maybe time to watch some Hallmark movies. Have a nice Saturday evening.

 to you, B&B and so good to see you.

Carol, I love your DGD's pretend Thanksgiving how fun and cute. As I've said before, I'd often love to have some extra kiddo energy!

Sounds like a good plan, Lynn, especially the resting part, my friend. I like that you keep some Disney stuff in your room ::MickeyMo

Dear Snowysmom, that is exactly what God was gifting you, extra peace and good memory. My own grandpa was so dear to me. Always heartwarming to read about a special grandpa and grandkid bond.

I've been doing more Christmas card organizing, reading, and enjoying a warm Saturday.

I think...maybe...knock on wood...that we are slowly getting a little used to the time change. The kitties didn't get me up until 5:20 this morning...

Two steps forward, one step back  - It was back a bit to 5:00 today (but I guess that's still better than 4:30!)

It was nice to see DS yesterday, and the drive up was gorgeous - sunny and bright, with some nice fall color. We took him some goodies, took him and his roommate out to lunch, and then hung out at their place for a while. Had some computer problems trying to help him with school stuff for next semester, but found out it was the website, not us.

We stayed a bit longer than intended, and got caught in some nasty rain on the way home - in the dark, thunder and all. We made it, but poor DH had some white knuckles on the steering wheel.

I can't believe I am the mother of a 21-year-old. If I close my eyes, I can picture his first Thanksgiving so clearly... and this year he'll be driving down to his grandparents' house like a full-blown adult.

We had my sister's memorial yesterday. It was nice, she passed in February, it was nice to remember her without the freshness of her death. I think that might be a welcome result of the pandemic. We had it at her gravesite, read a bible passage, a few poems, listened to some of her favorite songs, and I wrote a eulogy and read it. I broke down a few times but not too bad. After, we had lunch at another sister's home.

Tomorrow DH has a chemo treatment, hopefully. He is having trouble with his platelet count, so sometimes they can't do the treatment.
>:(

Today I'm going to put out a few more Christmas decorations, I know it is early, but with my knee surgery, I wanted to get most done before.
Our oven isn't working, so no cookies this year. With the shortages, they are not sure when we will get the new one. That's ok we'll make do.
I was upset at first because I always ship cookies to my son. Turns out he is coming home, DD paid for a flight for him. :-)

Yesterday, DD and her SO brought a bed downstairs for after my surgery. So we have a bed in our living room, I hope it's only for a week or two. With the decorations it is kind of tight. I could have skipped decorations but I wanted to keep things as normal as possible for DH.

Have a good day, it is snowing here, too early.

Good morning all! I'm on page 674, so forgive me for not responding. I've had family around which is joyful but also keeps me less informed on this thread!

I see from the above thread that Lynn is out of hospital. Good to hear!

Happy Birthday @footballmouse !

And, anyone with tooth problems, I have sympathy. I have a whole messed up root canal that was fixed, filled and had a crown on it. The whole thing has disintegrated. I now have to get to my dentist's office, which I've been neglecting as he retired. Office is still there with a partner who took over.

I'm also very fortunate that I have only a $50 deductible to pay for the year and that there is 4K coverage available with another $4K ready to kick in January 1. Still doesn't make me want to go but I have to. I'll be calling tomorrow for an appointment. The one good point is I have no pain, just a rough edge where the original structure was. Oh well.

So much for my pleasures (family) and tooth problems. I hope all are doing well. I'm going to be busy getting ready to go out of town this upcoming weekend and I'm looking forward to it. Everybody take care!

Happy Sunday everyone! :flower:

Very tired this morning. My 12 hour shift turned into an 16 1/2 hour shift yesterday and I had to be back again this morning, needless to say, I'm dragging :snail:.

Snowysmom - I think you mentioned about having a teddy bear made from your Dh's shirts but haven't found someone yet. I was at a craft show Friday night and there was a lady there who makes the quilts, bears, and pillows. I took her card and a picture of the bear for you. If you're interested in contacting her, I have her info for you.

dazedx3 - so sorry to hear you are going through so much. I hope the chemo will help your dh. Good luck with the knee surgery. Good thinking about putting up your decorations early. A friend of mine had this done a couple of years ago around this time. She had all her xmas shopping done and presents wrapped before her surgery.

Just looked up from my desk and noticed it's actually snowing!!!!

Today seems to be a good day to grab some snacks and watch football games all day. Wore my football earrings today and then find out that our Bengals have a bye this week :sad2:. Oh well, I'll watch any game that's on.

Hope everyone stays warm and has a great day today! :wave2:

Happy Sunday everyone with love. It's a little cooler this morning but still should be bright :)

Extra hug and big prayers to you, DazedX3. Please remember we are here and care.

Much love to you, Lynn, and prayers always you and Mr. L are doing well!

Footballmouse, what a wonderful bear! Thank you for sharing that with us, my friend. I pray you get to enjoy some downtime today.

Hug, Judique and good to see you always. Tooth trouble is no fun indeed :( Keeping you in prayer for sure.

Hug, PollyannaMom. The love and pride you have for your DS he knows well, my friend and he is so blessed and will be just fine. Lol always to your cat tails :)

Off to watch worship and will check back later.

Good morning/just after noontime all. I thought I had checked in earlier, but apparently not..too much on my to do list and my brain isn't keeping things in order..lol. I was so tired last nite, that I slept for almost 7 hours, thats a lot for me! Have already been working on my list. Got the new comforter set on the bed in the spare room, finished vacuuming our bedroom, cleaned litter boxes. Did another 3 loads of laundry and set aside a pile of old blankets/comforters/flannel sheets. Summer is going to take them to the homeless shelter. They are all usable and clean, so hopefully they can help someone out.
Just went through all of Mr L's drawers and we found another whole box of shirts to donate..am going to go through his closet and do the same wiht his work pants. He hasn't worn them in 2 years, odds are he won't be wearing them anymore, and they are taking up half the closet

Off to shop online for new nightstands for the bedroom
Have a peaceful Sunday all!

Wow, love that memory bear, @footballmouse! So glad you were able to get that info for @Snowysmom! Great timing!

I had a morning of bills and laundry, including sheets and mattress pad! Got two washing machines going (we have one in our in law). I’m a little upset about a bill I thought I paid, but apparently didn’t. Ugh. Also still have two things left to do for Mom’s estate but I’d like to get that tied up before Christmas so I can start the new year without worrying about that anymore.

Honestly, I‘m ready for a nap now, lol. But going to try to get out for a little while, it’s another nice day. DS just landed back in New England so I’m glad he’s home now (even though he gave me a thumbs down!). He said that Epcot was a madhouse last night. They actually left early when they were planning to stay to see the new show, it was so crazy. I was surprised. But they were going straight out so they must’ve been tired. I really like to build at least a day or two without parks into trips. But he wanted to show the family everything so they tried to do it all.

Have a good Sunday, everyone! 🐥

:hug:Lynn, thank you for donating the bedding. It will make a difference to many indeed, my friend, same with the clothing. You continue to amaze me with your energy and dedication to household tasks. I just am beyond thankful you are finally getting sleep!

A sad but lovely (tribute) site, PollyannaMom. Thank you, my friend, for sharing.

I still haven't watched worship but will later. I try to be in a much stiller frame of mind when I do to better walk closer with God throughout (and I pray, of course, always).

Good afternoon.

Sunny but chilly out. I think we are going to try to burn sticks that came down from the trees in the last storm.

Went to church then grocery shopped on the way home. We are having the traditional (for our family ) Lamesgiving, celebrated the day after Thanksgiving. Finally decided on a menu so bought the turkey today. And I have my assignment for Thanksgiving at DD's house - pumpkin pie that Tessa wants, and chocolate mint brownies.

@flyingdumbo127, I thought the sermon was very good today and the choir anthem was excellent.

Wore my football earrings today and then find out that our Bengals have a bye this week
I didn't wear my purple today. No game because the Ravens played Thursday.

Need to get outside and have some pyromaniac fun.

It has been a good day. I got all bedding washed, including all the new stuff. Summer came over and put the new blinds in the bedroom. I have the curtains in the washer now and then will do the new comforter. And good news..she had a guy come while she was here, who taught her husband some of what he knows about construction. He is going to put our new kitchen floor down, finally, and possibly this week. We bought the flooring at Ollies a year ago, and its been sitting on a bench in the ktichen waiting for our usual handyman. But I have left him several messages and he never calls back. For $400 this guy is going to take up the old floor (which our handyman wasn't, was going to lay new floor on top of old tiles), take all the old flooring away, put down the molding and strips between the dining room and living room, and get it done in 1 day! Then he is going to put a new kitchen door, and new outside storm door on,,and replace 3 electrical outlets that don't work right, thanks to Midnite..he had a bad habit of peeing on them :(
Mr L is more than excited..the old floor was linoleum tiles that were old and dried and cracking,,and his using the wheelchair in the kitchen only broke more of them
When Summer left, it was either freezing rain or sleeting outside..I don't want it , Mother Nature take it away!

Have a nice rest of the afternoon everyone! and @Breezy_Carol...what is lamesgiving??

@footballmouse Thank you for the info about the memory bear. I have found someone who makes memory dogs. I have put in an order for 7, including one for me. On my bear I am having our names put on the feet. For the grandkids I am just having the dogs made without reference to who they are for. I will tell them they are from Grandpa but they are still young and the littlest ones don't understand.
