Happy Friday!!!

Starting off early this morning. I was up at 4 am and couldn't go back to sleep. Clocked in at work at 6:15, hopefully they won't say anything about being too early.

Sorry wasn't clear. I am in the er. Heart rate was almost 190. Might be in observation for 2 days. The plus was I got the cutest ER Dr in the hospital and the CCU nurse I know from when Mr L was here 5 years ago. They say I have Afib, might have had it for years and never known till now. Started meds and rate is down to 114. Will try and answer more later. Just waiting for my room. Thank you all for the prayers and concern. I love my quacker family
Glad you had enough sense to seek help and not be stubborn and stay home. Take care of yourself and listen to that cute doc :thumbsup2.

We're still getting Hello Fresh meals occasionally and I've been trying to use up my freezer stash.
How do you like the Hello Fresh meals? I think my sister is going to start that and I've been tossing around the idea. Does it equal out pricewise if you would normally go to the grocery store? That's what I'm worried about, the price of that plus if I would go to the store, the cost would be too much.

I have to work Thanksgiving so I just decided that I'm not "making it up" on another day, the kids can go to their girlfriend's house for dinner. Only one I feel bad for is Ds3. Since he lives at home, he really won't have anywhere to go. My family doesn't get together anymore for the holidays. I'm the youngest so all my sisters and my brother do their own thing with their kids and grandkids. Just getting to be too many in one house, I understand but since my kids are the youngest of the cousins, I feel they have gotten cheated out of celebrating the holidays with all the family.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Maybe you can make a small meal for the two of you when you get home from work. You can do some of it ahead of time if you want, keep it simple!

The problem is, I don't like to cook nor do I don't like coming up with the meals. I really would like to have someone do it all for me but since that isn't on the horizon, I feel like I would have a better chance if someone would say "this is what you're eating this week, here are the ingredients, now put them all together".

Good morning everyone -

It's only Thursday, lol.

Yikes - sounds like it was quite a day for sure!

I may be taking a short break from the DIS. - I am getting a ton of virus pop-ups, and now it's on both the PC and the iPad.

See you soon, hope you can get it resolved!

finally moved to a room

Good. I hope you are able to get some rest today.

Only one I feel bad for is Ds3

Can one of your other sons invite him along to have dinner w/ them so he's not alone?

The problem is, I don't like to cook nor do I don't like coming up with the meals.

Not sure where you are, but there are a LOT of places around here that do Thanksgiving meals to go, maybe that would be a solution? Plenty of grocery stores & restaurants offer meals - and that solves the problem of the cooking!

It was a dark and stormy morning...with the promise of a dark and stormy afternoon! At least that is how it looks outside right now. When I was getting ready for work this AM I got to thinking that it was a sweatshirt & sneakers kind of day, and a few other folks must have thought the same thing because I'm not the only one dressed this way!

Speaking of Thanksgiving, my guest list is up to 10 so far. Waiting to hear from the other 5-6 people, and if youngest is bringing his girlfriend home for the holiday or not. Time to start making my preliminary lists.

Back to work for me -

This will be a two part reply. This one to comment on things I quoted. I did skim the past two weeks so may have missed some things. Then I'll make another post about our trip.

It's funny how when you get away from the computer it is easy to let it go.

he either called CPS on Friday or had someone do it for him. We got a visit Friday night, was quite a shock. Was a shock to DD's attorney also.
Hope this gets sorted out. DD works as a social worker in child welfare. Sometimes it isn't easy.

@footballmouse, I also am not a tattoo person but that was cute and tasteful.

Now if he could get social security to call me back
Good luck! DSIL's husband died in April and she had a time getting it straightened out.

The crackheads next door finally got their grass cut. It was taller than my chain-linked fence
Glad your district/county/whatever has a code about grass. I called the county about a neighbor's home that hasn't cut the grass in two years and there is no code here.

Odd experience at Walgreens this evening.
Which one? DD had made an online appt for her booster at the Middletown Walgreens for Tuesday. She stood in line and they told her they didn't have a record of it and didn't do walk ins. So, she got it the next day at Walmart.

DH and I got our boosters yesterday through the county health department. I feel a little achy and with a headache today but not too bad. We both had COVID tests Tuesday after getting back from Florida. Got the results in less than 24 hours - negative.

Hope Carol is having a great time in FL! 🍹🌴
We did,and are already planning to go back.

Is anyone else recording any of the Hallmark movies this weekend?
Not me. Too early. I am off Hallmark until after Thanksgiving.

"What is your definition of happiness?"
I am happiest with all my family together. That and good health.

He says I thought you might want to help me out.
If he continues, I would speak to the police.

I'm in Southern Maryland.
DDIL worked at Pax River and lived in Lexington Park until she married DS. Now they live in Dunkirk.

My 3 tomato plants are still growing
I am still getting tomatoes too,

I want to do the auto train so bad but keep on pushing it back to 'next time'. Did you get a sleeping car or are you doing coach?
This is our 4th or 5th time on the auto train. When we made the reservation, we had coach but upgraded to roomette due to increase COVID. There is a lot of info about it on the transportation board.

Medicare is a challenge.
It is. We don't have a supplemental and have so much more coverage than when we had to buy our own insurance as self employed/contract workers. We are the few who really like our Medicare.

Also a reminder for any Quackers who feel comfortable doing so and who have not already, when Carol comes home, reach out to her. I know she was keeping a list of Quacker email addresses for just such purposes as Dis outages or trouble so we could all still be in touch. Carol, I hope this was okay to post as a reminder!
I have fallen down on doing that. I will have to try harder.

QOTD: Are your medical and dental memories good ones, or hard ones?
I did not like the dentist we went to when growing up. We went to him because he had lived upstairs from my parents in their first apartment. I remember him dropping my retainer on the floor, poking me in the gum with a finger nail, and filled teeth without Novacaine. I went to college and had to see a dentist and discovered Novacaine. I ws 18 and never went back to him again but switched dentists. Then when I was looking for a dentist for my DD, we tried several before going to "Tommy's dad." One of the kids in her 3 year old preschool class had a father that was a dentist. After he came and talked to the class, we went there. I still see him.

I never had any MD problems. If I didn't like someone, I switched. I still go to the the same gyn from before I was married, so more than 37 years. I will hate when he retires.

@easyas123, you mentioned Christmas gifts. I picked a couple of things I saw in Maine and Florida for my kids and grandkids.

I am sure my PCP will want to give me anti anxiety meds. Plus I don't want to gain weight back or have trouble taking off more pounds. Most of those meds lead to weight gain.
I started Sertraline, generic for Zoloft, a year ago. It does not have weight gain as a side effect. I am on a low dose and it really helps my anxiety.

A lot of people today use Melatonin.
My DH tried that and it gave him such vivid dreams that he stopped.

Have any of your young people gotten boosters?
DD has because of her job. DS should and is looking into it. DH and I are done.

What would happen if you let the sheets go for a week or two? I wonder if that’s something that’s aggravating your back?
I agree with this.

You seem to have been run down for a long time now, I wonder if you might benefit from going in?
/another good idea, Maybe your ER visit will give you a break and some answers,

Ds1 told me yesterday that one of the guys on his soccer team mom was killed.
That was a terrible story,

Tom is home and recovering very well.
Wonderful!

QOTD - What meat prices have shocked you lately?
I rarely buy beef. Chicken here hasn't changed.

I am getting a ton of virus pop-ups,
I was getting that today too.

It is dreary and windy and cold today. Waiting for the rain. I just made black bean soup for lunch. DH suggested carry out tonight which I think I will agree to.

Be back later with a trip report.

Carol - sounds like you had a great time, and take away sounds like a excellent idea ! (odd experience I referenced a few pages back -it was the Walgreens in Denton, MD - made appt. there as I was coming thru on my way home from one of my meetings in Millsboro)

To quote my husbands dear late grandmother "Deed! it's coming down out there!" between the wind & the rain it is a proper mess out there this afternoon.

Moved my dry erase calendars to November & December, where DID this year go? The way my next 6 months is shaping up it will be mid-April before we come up for a breath.

Husband decided he was kicking his weekend off early and went home to spend the afternoon making sausage. Don't ask, sometimes he just gets a wild hair... hopefully he puts the kitchen back to rights before I get home!

I could go for a slice of flourless chocolate cake
or a peanut butter hot fudge sundae
or some warm apple crumb w/ a scoop of vanilla
or a pan of ghiradelli triple chocolate brownies, just slightly underdone - maybe some of that vanilla ice cream with it

Obviously I'm battling a pretty wicked sweet tooth this afternoon -

Waving Good Afternoon (I tried twice this morning to post) with love quickly before the Dis brings up yet another spam ad PollyannaMom, hug, I'm sorry you are also having that frequent experience, I sure am, too.

Prayers for your friend’s husband, Sweetpeama. A friend of mine who was fully vaccinated got Covid, too. I sure pray for this mess to end!

Very thankful you finally did get a room Lynn. Much prayer that you will REST today and indeed listen to the cute doctor.

Hug, Footballmouse, maybe you can have a belated Thanksgiving celebration later in the week. After all, every day. IMO, is one to give God great thanks for especially those He has blessed us with such as family. I am sorry you have to work though. I am not a cook either, that’s for sure! Pea’s idea is a great one and I semi did the same thing for my grandma before she moved into Assisted Living. You could even just plan a couple days at a time so it’s not as daunting a task.

Great idea, Easyas, for Footballmouse to ask another son to invite his brother over. I’m so glad you will have a bigger family Thanksgiving this year. That weather does not sound too good. I hope you are able to get out and do whatever you need to do and then be safe and cozy at home! A brownie sounds good indeed. I hope you did get to enjoy some type of treat.

I look forward to your trip report, Carol, welcome back and home once again, my friend. I admit to still not having watched any of the Christmas movies I have recorded so far. I will this weekend. Time is still so very strange right now! It’s almost November yet could be any month if that makes sense. Prayers for to feel better from your booster. Thanks for taking such care to reply extensively after being away. I’d be happy to help with updating our Quacker list of you’d like just PM or email me. I would also love to have any Quacker’s birthdays who feel comfortable sharing them. I have a lot of yours already but not all.

It's sunny here once more which is so nice. I did just place a Walmart order for new comforters for my dad and I--I hope we like them. I decided even though they might be available in store (should he get to Walmart this year) by having them delivered, we'll get to see how we like them ahead of his going to the store (in case a return needs to be made). I also was able to get myself a Red parka.

:grouphug: to all. Know, if I disappear it's because of those pesky ads :P

Had to get the Yorkie to the vet for his Bordetella and Lyme this morning. We managed to get there and back between the drops, and it's been coming down ever since.

I could go for the warm apple crumb and ice cream. Nothing like that here so I settled for eating the caramel off the Twix bar and tossed the cookie part.

Texted DD and told her to get Chik fil a for dinner.

After the vet I decided to start cleaning my refrigerator. I have a 1 year old Samsung and something sticky was spilled in there and went under the edge of the glass on the lowest shelf. I had to google how to take it apart and out of the refrig so I could do a nice, soapy cleaning. Watched 4 or 5 videos and tried to follow the simplest one, which the more complicated ones suggested 'don't do this.'

It didn't work and lucky for the refrig I didn't break it. So, moved on to the most complicated and that was successful. Everything is squeaky clean now and I'm relaxing and not cooking. Well not everything is clean but the fridge is.

Did not do anything in my basement today. I feel as if my basement belongs to a hoarder and I've started to sort it out. So most days I go down and get some stuff either a new home or a trip to the curb. I'll admit sometimes the new home is back up to the other rooms, but, still, it's getting better. Yesterday I tossed a 2 drawer file cabinet after saving a bit and trashing the rest. It wasn't really files, just folders and a bunch of old stationery and xmas cards.

I have to attack a giant cache of cushions for outdoor furniture and send some to Goodwill. Seems like a spring thing. Going, going and hopefully gone tomorrow!

That's my day.

I use an ad blocker called uBlock Origin to filter out the ads. It's free online and I haven't had any problem with it. Some sites you want to visit don't like it and will ask you to unblock them and you can easily do a 1 time if they have content you want to see. It keeps Disboards very clean for me.

www.uBlockorigin.com

You can google and read about it without downloading or ask someone you know about using an ad blocker.

I've had this going for some time. DD advised it as she is a computer person at her job. There may be newer, better out there but she's not here to ask right this minute.

going to er please send prayers

7 am, in Ed bed for 18 hours, finally moved to a room!!!

I skimmed yesterday and today and missed this. Reading back today and realized you are hospitalized. Glad to hear the meds are helping, but sorry you are in hospital.

Definitely will send prayers! Here are some little angels to look over you - :littleangel::littleangel::littleangel::littleangel:.

Our CFA closed in mid-August for renovation and to widen the drive through to two lanes. When we travel we often stop at CFA to get our fix. Ours reopens Thursday and I can't wait.

Thanks for the ad blocker info, Judique, I'll look into that. I hope your dog is home and happy now and one step at a time with decluttering. I was never a big candy fan but when I was much younger (and could eat them) for some reason every so often I really did enjoy a Twix.

Dad used to like CFA, Carol :)

Wishing everyone a good evening.

Good morning everyone.

Been busy the past couple of days so popped on and off, that and the weird anti-virus pop-ups started again.

Those that need prayers and hugs they were sent.

My cousin did well with the surgery. Not sure yet what the expected outcome is as I don't want to bother my aunt right now.

My daughter set up the religious ceremonies for my three grandsons the other day. The oldest was baptized in my church so he just needs his First Holy Communion and Confirmation. The Communion is a bit of a laugh to me as he has received in my church since he was a toddler. The other 2 boys will be baptized in the next month or so too. Wyatt was chosen to take the elements up yesterday for the first time so of course I had to go. He looked so cute and of course I was so proud of him. After the mass I looked around the church a bit and the older priest came up to me. He said I looked troubled and asked if he could help. He was right. I shake when I am in the Roman Catholic church. When my husband and I were getting married we needed yo be counseled by his "church". The priest DEMANDED I sign a paper promising all of our children would be reared in the Catholic church. I said they would be as the word loosely means universal. This priest got really nasty and called me a HEATHEN. When they say words don't hurt they are dead wrong, they hurt a lot.

The priest at my grandson's church prayed over me that the pain inflicted all those years ago should be lifted. Oddly I think it was. I really felt my heart lighten. I went out later to buy gifts for the boys and found what I thought was the perfect medal for Anthony - a St. Christopher for baseball players. He hates it and wants a cross instead. Then he showed me the one he wants. It's over $100 and I can't get my money back on the medal just an exchange. He'll go with me when I return it. Even my daughter said she would have said the baseball medal was perfect. The boy will drive us all insane.

I also found the perfect gift for LJ's baptism. I cleaned out the jar with all of my jewelry dumped in it. Many years ago I had bought my son an Episcopal medal. It was in that jar. I am having it cleaned up and engraved with JAMES on the back. My granddaughter-in-law loved it. She thought it was the family crest I got my son a few years ago so now I know what I want to get them for Christmas while I am in Disney.

The only complication with Anthony's events are they conflict with my Ella's birthday - she will be 13. She wants to go to Lancaster, to Shady Maple, for dinner with a couple of friends. Of course I told her that we would go. It's the same day as the confirmation. Ella is such a good kid at times. She agreed that we can go the week before. Now I have to brave Thanksgiving weekend traffic and head to Lancaster. What I don't do for these kids. Ella did say she will buy me a taxi cab light to put on my car. Good thing I love that kid.

Not much else going on around here. Food distribution at church today, Halloween tomorrow. I will have to get a pick of LJ and share it. He is going to be Donald Duck. I got the costume a couple of weeks ago at the Disney store, it even has Donald Duck feet slippers. I can't wait to see him in it.

Have a good day everyone.

Quiet thread.

Hug, Pea, I'm sorry you are working all weekend. Thank you always for making such a kind difference to so very many, my friend, including all of us Quackers :)

Hug to you as well, Taz. I'm proud of your younger relatives, too! I'm also so sorry you were treated that way. It is no human's place to decide for another steps "required" (by them NOT by God) to God. You know, in your heart that God created, that what matters is trusting in and following Him and His loving Word!

Cool Saturday morning here. I was thinking last night of Awol Quackers such as Tina, Sparkle, Heidi, and even longer gone members such as NYCgrrl and Gwen. Prayers they are all doing well and will stop back in to say hi sometime.

Saturday:hug: to all!

Shady Maple! Haven't been in forever, but maybe I'll mention it and get older daughter to go some time.

Donald Duck sounds adorable. He's our favorite character. Would be fun to see a picture.

Buried in my basement all afternoon. Time to go and start some dinner.

Good Morning and a Happy Halloween.

Bump up because we were quite a bit down page 2.

Not much happening today. Church and my son's house for football and a small Halloween Party. I have my costume on already - Halloween socks and a Disney Halloween shirt. Have a great day.

Bumping this up as it is on the second page. Hope Lynn is doing well. Sending thoughts and prayer to her and Mr. L.

Today I am once again off to do some decluttering at the house. Yesterday was tough as I went through Chris' stuff in his top drawer and there was alot of sentimental stuff. I cleaned and cried. My piece of advice to anyone is to not collect alot of "stuff". Declutter your stuff so someone else does not have to. It is heartbreaking. Not trying to be mean or judgmental but just saying that my DSs and I are having a tough time with this emotionally and just the whole cleanup is physically demanding and will take months. Chris thought he had the time to do when he retired. He did not want us to have to do it and he said that many times. I also went to the bank to put one of my sons on my bank accounts so the kids can have access to them if anything happens to me. In the process they had to take Chris' name off the account. Another crying moment as we had joint accounts since 1976. It is sad.
