Good morning all!

We've had the rain and some gales, but I haven't heard any bad news such as power out yet, but I also haven't listened to any news this morning.

Fed the cats and the dog. Right now, I have my 2 cats, one 9 and one 12 years old, plus my daughter's 13 year old. And the outdoor cat that has adopted my deck as it's home. I keep feeding it but it is fearful and runs away if I get close. If I could capture it, I would take it to my vet and get it shots and proper care. My 9 year old is a stray that I rescued and adopted. But he was much younger and smaller when I got him.

Trying to get motivated to go for my daily walk. Usually I walk between 8 and 9, but today will be later, maybe 10.

Not much going on, just waiting for Thanksgiving. Trying not to think of halloween because every time I do I eat some of the candy. I need it to be over, lol.

Happy Wednesday everyone, half way through the week!
My Disney trip is paid off and the credit card is paid off. I should have a nice rebate check available in about a week which will cover expenses while in Disney. Even better I got triple points for the last payment. MagicBands are also on their way, I bought a 50th anniversary one. I have issues with the app so I prefer the bands plus my husband doesn't have the app.
Have fun on your trip!!! Sounds like a big stress has been lifted since your trip is paid for and you get a rebate check! :earsboy:

Kirby - love the pumpkins. We don't carve pumpkins anymore. I don't want some punk kids taking them off my porch and smashing them in the street (it's happened before). I found a couple of light up pumpkins at Goodwill a few years ago with a Tigger and the castle carved out so I put them on the porch.

I've been MIA the past few days. I worked all weekend so I wasn't able to hop on here, which is strange because I'm not busy at all at that job. I usually spend my time sitting in the conference room across from the desk with a bunch of nurses talking and watching TV. Yesterday I wrapped up the final 2 interviews that I had for a position here at the hospital. Sent the thank you note off this morning. Cleaned my house really good Monday in between working.

Ds1 told me yesterday that one of the guys on his soccer team mom was killed. Apparently his dad stabbed his mom and then himself. She was killed and he is in the hospital. One of the girls from the team started a GoFundMe for him and his brother since they now have to cover the cost for their mom's funeral. I see him when I go to the games, he's a super nice guy, so friendly. I feel bad for him and his brother, they're both in their 20's and still lived at home. I can't imagine having to go home to that. I'll have to contribute something this weekend. I'll probably see him tonight at the soccer game, Ds said that he mentioned that he'll still be there, he wants some normalcy in his life right now. I want to take him something but being a young guy, he'll probably think I was crazy.

Guess I'll cut my grass today when I get home from work, it should be dried out pretty good. We've had some good rain since Friday and then we're supposed to get some more starting tomorrow for a couple of days. Hopefully this will be the last time I'll need to cut it this year. I'm going to lower the mower so I can cut it shorter than usual.

Pea-n-Me be careful if you go out with the wires and trees being down. Sounds like it's a good day to stay in!

Judique you sound like me with the cats. I think the area cats call the other cats and give out my address. I've also noticed it's been hard for me to get motivated to walk each day and then when I don't I get mad at myself. I didn't buy Halloween candy this year since we won't be home. Good thing because I would be eating it too.

Guess that's a wrap for me today. Everyone have a good day! :sunny:

Good morning Stepdaughter here helping to clean. Got some 'cat spots' off the carpet, took trash down to the street. Is going to pass the vaccum though the house, and then put the storm window in the back door. Her hubby gets off work tomorrow, so hopefully he will have a couple of hours to do the outside stuff like cleaning the gutters, covering ac, putting hoses away etc

Sunny and bright out

Have a nice day

Good Morning friends,

Great pumpkins, Kirby! That would be a lot of fun to carve or even decorate pumpkins with kids. I know in years past at church, we've gotten the dollar tree foamy pumpkins that can kind of be carved but more so decorated with stickers and stuff that the kiddos enjoy.

Prayers for all of you, Pea, PollyannaMom, and anyone else, of course in a storm or without power! Please, please stay safe!

Hug. Judique, when I was younger and able to eat candy, while I was never much of a candy fan (that was my beloved Grandma) I loved the pumpkin shaped candy corn. To me, those always tasted so much better than the triangular candy corn, maybe because they were cute.

How awful, Footballmouse. Prayers for that family. Reminds me horribly of years ago when I taught preschool at a center where a lot of the kids came because their home environment was not always safe. Dad decided one day to shoot and kill the mom. Their 2 1/2 year old daughter, thank God, was fine but she was home. Can't even imagine a child of any age having to go through the death of a parent in general but extra to know one killed (or hurt in any way) the other.

Lynn, I hope you got some rest last night.

Cool morning here but it is supposed to be 80. I've been getting more of the cool flashes even though I know it's not cold in here, just me. I've also been trying to eat more but unlike (I think) the majority of women going through perimenopause, who gain weight, I seem to be losing it which is not what I need to be doing (or am trying to do at all). I am eating more although, am not necessarily hungrier just know I need to eat more at times anyway. I'd appreciate some prayers there. Also, if any of you have had this experience, please PM me. Thanks to dear Pea, I did read through an old perimenopause thread on the Dis that was wonderful and so reassuring. I've been reluctant to start it up again or a new one because I am a private person but may need to.

I'd also appreciate dentist prayers. I have shared that my beloved dentist is retiring at the end of the year. I had thought (based on my last visit to him) that he had found someone to take over his practice. She sounded like a nice lady and I really liked knowing I could meet her at my upcoming appointment (next week) while my current dentist would still be there. The lady dentist backed out due to family obligations and challenges. My dentist did highly recommend two other dentists, including his own! Since I do truly trust him and his wife (current dentist and his wife--she runs the office are the nicest people) I am confident in that recommendation. It just would have been so much easier to have met the lady dentist not quite brand new to her on my own if that makes sense. I'll have to Google the recommended dentist and go from there. I won't need to see that person until next year, possibly a little later even if I could squeeze in one last appointment with current dentist sometime before Christmas, which I may try to do, we shall see.

Hugs again to all with bad dentist experiences, I truly am so sorry :( I can relate to feeling anxious, not quite trusting or comfortable because that sums up me with medical doctors!

Wishing all of you a blessed Wednesday.

Good afternoon friends,
Tom is home and recovering very well. He has fluid retention, and it’s being addressed. Yesterday and ultra sound was done, and the cause is not blood clot, so medicines and compression socks are prescribed.

I cannot say thank you enough to all of you who have sent prayers and good thoughts our way.

Hugs,
Bobbi

Carving Jack o' lanterns was our big treat this evening. The GK's had a lot of fun

Those look GREAT! I have zero/zilch creative talent when it comes to that kinda stuff, and I'm always impressed by these wonderful carvings you see this time of year!

Do you mean that Covid hospitalizations are down?

If that what was meant, in our area they are way down, as if our overall percentage of positive folks.

Roads are a mess here w fallen wires and trees overnight. Getting reports from those who left the house early for work. DS had to backtrack when he ran into a road blocked with trees. It’s eerie here w no power anywhere and no one outside.

That's no fun, hope you & yours all were able to travel to and fro safely. At least it wasn't terribly cold or hot outside w/o electric.

Yesterday I wrapped up the final 2 interviews that I had for a position here at the hospital

Good luck and fingers crossed - hope you hear back from them soon.

Sunny and bright out

That it is! But so windy down our way. Went home at lunch to spring the mutts for a bit and the back of the porch is in full sun but protected from wind and it was soooo nice & warm! They were sprawled out basking in the sun! But step around the corner and the wind was hitting us again.

Tom is home and recovering very well.

That is so wonderful, I hope he has a speedy and comfortable recovery.

Nothing much new to report on my end I'm afraid. Same old....venison stew w/ sourdough bread for dinner. Not sure what is on tap for tomorrow's meal. Maybe pasta, we'll see.

Good afternoon :)

So happy you have a fun day planned, AuntieMe3. Enjoy your lunch with your friend.

What a wonderful update, Bobbiwoz, praise God!

Easyas, I'm glad you had a little sun anyway. I would not be pumpkin carving talented either! Would have fun with stickers/markers though :)

Ugh. Didn’t get power back until late evening yest, so about 15 hrs without it. Messed up my whole day as had plans to drop off Toto for grooming and do some shopping, but instead had to stay home in the relative cold and dark. Nothing around us had power, either, including stores, gas stations, restaurants, etc. Police told people to stay home because of the dangers on the roads with wires and trees down, so there wasn’t much to do. House was cold, couldn’t really open fridge, thankfully hot water is gas so was able to take a hot shower. No WiFi and 4G was spotty on phone, which was dying. Tried to charge phone in car, but cord not functioning, which I hadn’t noticed. Thankfully I had my auxiliary charger in my purse which DH had me take to WDW (so as not to borrow his :lmao: ) and it still had some juice in it. My SIL said they went to find coffee and only found one place open and there was a two hour wait! I was happy to have my little percolator that I’d bought a year or so ago, and thankfully we have a gas stove. You don’t realize how much you appreciate basic things until you don’t have them!

Happy for good news and wishing all that have upcoming things have good luck!

Glad to hear you did finally get power back, Pea. We were incredibly lucky that we only lost it for 20 minutes or so (I'm guessing they had to briefly shut off our area in order to safely reconnect an area of town that had been down.) I agree with you about appreciating things, though!

A large section of our neighbors' fence blew down, as did four shingles from our old shed. But otherwise, I think we made out OK. We'll have to pump a lot of water off the pool cover, and kind of readjust it, but at least it stayed on. Do you know yet how your new boat fared?

We have some fencing down, too. Toto wasn’t too happy this morning having to go out on a long lead. He kept looking back at me: “Why can’t I go and run in my yard?” We will have to check the pool today. At least it’s intact. Lawn chairs are strewn about. I know DS was talking about there being water in the boat even before yesterday, I think they have to drain it but were waiting until the storm was over. Lots to do today! I’m glad you only lost power for a short time!

Forgot to mention here, missed out on yet another dog that I’d applied for last week. So was a little down about that.

Happy Thursday morning! :flower1:

I'm all frazzled today, I forgot to set my alarm last night so I woke up an hour late >:(. I went to Ds1's soccer game last night and while I was waiting for the game to start, I even thought about setting my alarm for the morning but then the game started and I never did. By the time I got home, I was so tired I just went right to bed. I hate days like this, now I need to make up the 30 minutes that I was late for work >:(. I need to shake off this bad mood quickly. I just drank a protein shake, I think a need a Coke now :drinking::sad2:.

Pea-n-Me, so sorry about not having power at your house, that would be horrible. Glad it was turned back on finally. It is definitely an eye opener when something you are so used to is taken away. If my cable & internet goes out, I don't know what to do with myself. Kind of sad that I'm so dependent on things like that.

Ds1 and his fiance wanted to put an offer on a house yesterday but the loan guy they are working with noticed that it hasn't been 45 days yet since he paid off a loan that he needed off his credit report. I'm sure the house will sell before then. Such a bummer, they liked a few houses but they were all like 30 minutes from my house. This one was in the next neighborhood and I knew they really liked it. Fingers crossed the loan guy can work something out and the realtor can keep the sellers interested in Ds.

Nothing else really going on with me today. I wasn't able to watch Survivor last night (because of the soccer game) so that's something I can look forward to when I get home :-). Hope everyone has a great day today! :dogdance:

Thanks. That’s the thing. I really wouldn’t have been opposed to having a curl-up-in-bed day (cause many times I have to work during these storms!), but there was no internet and no TV. I thought about reading a book but there wasn’t enough light, and I didn’t want to use up the flashlight and lantern power that I had. So it was just sit there with nothing to do. It would’ve been a good cleaning day, sort of, but it was pretty dark out and I couldn’t see too well. So it all worked out fine, others have worse problems, but it was a very boring day! I hope your day gets better! I meant to ask, what do you do at your hospital?

I'm an administrative assistant in the research division of a children's hospital. On the weekends, I'm a hospital unit coordinator (HUC) at another hospital in the Family Birthing Center unit.

Good Morning,

HUGE prayers to you Lynn and possibly Mr. L as well! I have been extra concerned about you, my friend this last week. I've felt something was going on :(

I also sure pray PollyannaMom and Pea and anyone else affected that you have power today. It is always disconcerting to be without lights particularly at night! Please stay safe dear friends.

Footballmouse (and Pea) thank you both for your kind and caring medical service 🌸

Pea, the right pup will come to you, my friend, in God's time. Promise. I am sorry this one didn't work out.

Kirby, that is good Covid news regarding hospitalizations. Prayers it continues! I briefly read this morning that a new Covid intra nasal vaccine is being more worked on. I am sure keeping that in big prayer for becoming available and, of course, to work, asap. Would be fantastic to have other and perhaps more long term options to end this plague!

Grayish Thursday here but it is supposed to be in the 80's. Cooler over the weekend.

🌼 and :grouphug: to each of you!
