Lynn, I hope your husband feels better. And tazdev, same with your SIL. Did he have Covid? Sorry I can’t remember. A friend of DH’s wife had a stroke recently and they were able to go in and remove two small worm-like clots out of her brain. I was impressed. She‘s doing really well now. They must be looking at reasons for why he’s having these strokes, right. Sometimes it’s a problem with one of the blood clotting factors a person has, and it can run in families. There are doctors who specialize in just this, and I know a good one in Boston if you need a referral at all.
@Bianca and Bernard, thanks for the mini trip report! Looks like you got a lot in and had a lot of fun! I agree, it was so hot and humid it was at times unbearable! Not sure where you live but for those of us not used to those temps, it can be hard. I know we had to leave Epcot mid-day, cool down, and go back later. DS and his gf were down south this past week at an amusement park and it sounds like they got a little heat exhaustion, too. Funny, we walked around Art of Animation one night last week. It was packed! I think everyone wanted to get away.
QOTD I’m with
@sweetpeama, I used to love listening to thunder and lightening - until we got hit with lightening and had a big fire that caused almost $100K in damage to our home. Now I hear it and I get nervous. They say lightening doesn’t strike the same place twice but who’s to say. We didn’t actually see it hit, but we were home and heard it. It was one of the largest BOOMS I ever heard, and we actually jumped up out of our seats. Within seconds, 40 ft flames were shooting up in the air.

We had to rush to get everyone out of the house safely, including my elderly mother (who didn’t want to get her hair wet) and our pets, and call 911 at the same time. People were knocking on our front door telling us to get out and I had to hand my beloved dog off to a complete stranger! (Who I thank wholeheartedly, but at the time, I worried he’d take off with her, she was a gorgeous and friendly German Shepherd.) All of our electricity had blown out from the strike, so the land line didn’t even work, it was dead

, and I had to use my cellphone where I got redirected and such, etc. Nightmare, actually, and I hope I never have to relive anything like it again.
We made chicken tortilla soup last night, it was delicious. I’d had it on hand and been meaning to use it up. It was one of the Frontier soups, ie a starter mix. They’re a little pricey, but very good, and (by themselves) very low in sodium, etc (what you add can ramp up the sodium content). I often have leftover chicken on hand and those are a perfect way to use it up. This time I’d bought a rotisserie chicken, and the whole thing went in there. We added some tortilla chips crunched up to the bottom and top, and it didn’t call for cheese, but we had some Mexican blend on hand, so we put that on top, too. A dollop of sour cream would’ve also been good, but I’d just thrown what we had out.
Amazon sells these soup mixes, and higher end grocery stores, if you’re looking for them. The picture doesn’t do it justice.
I wanted to show you guys, as I’d been talking about buying DS a suit here for a while and you helped me with ideas, etc., and I got the navy blue suit a few weeks ago. But I wound up ordering him a nice Disney tie to go with it. (Obviously not for job interviews, lol, but for other times he wears it.) I‘d been looking at ties in WDW and didn’t really see what I wanted. (DH has some nice Disney ones.) Anyway, I found this one online and thought it was beautiful. I haven’t seen him in over a week (I’ll see him tonight

) but I sent him this picture and he loved it. Thought I’d share it with you all. I haven’t had time to give him what we bought him in WDW as he was literally leaving the house for his trip as we were coming home from ours. (A little birdie told me he was asking DH and DD questions about a gift he was buying for me down south, so I am looking forward to seeing what that is tonight.

)
