Ok, here we go.

We drove down Sunday, so we wouldn't have to be up and moving at 6am on Monday. Stopped at Bu-cees in Daytona again; DH was properly amazed. He's worked on 3 of their projects now, but this was the first time he's been in one!

We stayed one night at the Wyndham Grand Orlando Bonnet Creek. It was nice, but the rooms...and beds...were smaller than expected. The property was huge. Wwe did not have a chance to go to the pools or mini golfing or anything else. Either they were too crowded, the weather went bad, or we were exhausted. :(

A few photos:

We ate room service Sunday night for dinner. No photos, but I had a terrific Greek salad and Funnel Cake Fries (well, we shared those); DS had a cheeseburger; DGS had chicken tenders with bourbon bbq sauce; and DH had...I don't remember.

Breakfast was the buffet the next morning. The fruit was fresh, and the omelets really good. The sausage was very good too.

No pictures of the food from those two meals. I fail at this. LOL

The cute pics of your grandson more than make up for the lack of food pics!!

We spent a couple of hours at Six Flags Darien Lake yesterday, and I saw at least one girl wearing a Minnie Mouse ears headband. I thought folks here would be amused. :earsgirl:

Monday: Epcot.
Headed straight to Test Track at opening. Took us an hour to get through the line and ride (including car building); everyone thought it was great. Traveled to Mexico and rode the Donald ride (first time ever. Every other time we've tried to ride it, it was either down or at 60+ min wait). Then we went to our lunch reservation at San Angel. Our bill for 7 of us was $350, but DD's friend used her CM discount and we had 40% off the food; that dropped it down to $240 or so, so DH and I paid $100 (we left an extra $20 for the tip, on top of the gratuity charge) of that.

After, we walked around, did some shopping, took the boat back to Futureworld. Did not eat at any other booths, then left. The lines were just outrageous at all the rides and booths.
I don't have pictures of everyone's food; there were 7 of us and it was a lot, lol.

A few photos:

1. DD and DS 2. SoIL eating the Camerones a la Diabla 3. DD's Tlayuda (as a meal) 4. DH and I both had the Enchiladas de Pollo so only one photo.

More San Angel photos: 1. DD's friends Tacos de Ribeye; 2. Horchata margarita (SOiL); 3. Cucumber Margarita (mine); 4. both DD and her friend got the Margarita flight: the Wild One, Blood orange and original.

The horchata was amazing; the cucumber was good.

DS had some chicken quesadillas (not on menu); and DGS had a chicken taco kids meal. We also had dessert but I totally missed the photos. DH and I split a scoop of sweet corn ice cream; and the table split the Tres Leche cake with ice cream; DGS and DS had chocolate brownies.

After we left Epcot, we dropped DS and DGS at AoA with the rest of the family, then DH and I went to our hotel Springhill Suites at Flamingo Crossing. It was...ok. The room was definitely bigger than the one at BC. The bed was comfy. Just not a lot of amentities. We ate, well, tried to, eat at the buffet one morning and it was horrible.

DH and I went off to dinner. We went to a place called U and Me Revolving Hotpot. We had never had Hotpot before....it was so fun! The little robot took you to your table (or counter, in our case) and they had another one that delivered ice cream at the end. It had a track that ran the options around, and there was a cold case where you went and got your meats. I stuck with safe things, like beef and pork, broccoli, noodles.

Oh, one good thing about our hotel; it had an ice cream vending machine in the lobby. For $5 or $6, depending on size, you got a choice of vanilla or chocolate or swirl soft serve and two toppings (like Mini M&Ms, sprinkles, etc).

Tuesday was AK day, and it was just brutal. We only stayed at the park for 4 hours, and were only able to do the Safari (at open, and it took an hour to get on and ride) and the rest did Everest once (took another hour). DGS and I went on a walk, and met a great CM to took us through the trek and showed us all the special hiding spots for the animals in that area. Just as we were leaving, it started pouring. We were soaked. We skipped over to the CM only shopping, and DD's friend bought some things; she bought me a keychain that I had been wanting.

DH and I went to Yeoman's Cask and Lion for dinner. Not really a British pub, but good food, and we had shelter from the horrible weather. I had the Queen's Crush (sprite, Three Olives Berry British Vodka, Blueberries and Lemon) and DH had the Bramble (Boodles British Gin, Creme de Mure, Lemon Sour and Blackberries). He had the Fish & Chips (they are there under the fish!) and I had the Bangers & Mash. The brussel sprouts were barely warm, not roasted at all. Pretzel bread ap, with beer cheese (that was amazing). And dessert: Sticky Toffee Pudding; Guinness Chocolate Stout Cake with Bailey's Creme Anglaise; Ice cream (vanilla) and shortbread cookies.

Good Saturday morning to all.
lynxstch-prayers your husband feels better and both of you are able to get good rest soon.
tazdev-extra prayers for you also and hope they are able to get answers for your son-in-law
flyingdumbo-hope you enjoy your new paper and decorations once they arrive and you are able to get them up and arranged
Quiet day here. I need to clean/organize the kitchen. I had been pondering a small air-fry oven for quite some time and finally took the plunge and got one...any helpful tips or recipes welcome...but now actually need to make space for it. I also need to purge pots and pans that never seem to get used. I hold on to them...just in case...but always end up using my "favorites" and the others just sit and take up space? Am I the only one who has "favorite" pots and pans?

Thanks to everyone for the prayers. Its definitely cellulitis, as his right leg is reddish colored. But his temp is down to 99, and by the time his PCP is back on Monday, it should be well on its way to being gone. Its scary to me when he gets it,,because his legs get weak (and all of the swelling he's had in them, had disappeared after 1 week on the Entresto--now its back in that leg) and he's a big guy, and if he loses his balance and falls, I can't get him up. He managed to make it to the bathroom and back to his chair..and he's sweaty now which means the fever is going down. And I made him take all his meds. He just needs to sleep the rest of it off.

@frog3101--I thought I wanted an air fryer too..until I got one. I think we've used it maybe 10 x in 2 years,,and all it's doing now is taking up space on the counter top. I hope you get more use out of yours. You can find a lot of recipes for them online!

Its so nice outside, but I don't dare go out to do anything in the yard, just in case , so it will be a very quiet Saturday here.

Lynn, I hope your husband feels better. And tazdev, same with your SIL. Did he have Covid? Sorry I can’t remember. A friend of DH’s wife had a stroke recently and they were able to go in and remove two small worm-like clots out of her brain. I was impressed. She‘s doing really well now. They must be looking at reasons for why he’s having these strokes, right. Sometimes it’s a problem with one of the blood clotting factors a person has, and it can run in families. There are doctors who specialize in just this, and I know a good one in Boston if you need a referral at all.

@Bianca and Bernard, thanks for the mini trip report! Looks like you got a lot in and had a lot of fun! I agree, it was so hot and humid it was at times unbearable! Not sure where you live but for those of us not used to those temps, it can be hard. I know we had to leave Epcot mid-day, cool down, and go back later. DS and his gf were down south this past week at an amusement park and it sounds like they got a little heat exhaustion, too. Funny, we walked around Art of Animation one night last week. It was packed! I think everyone wanted to get away.

QOTD I’m with @sweetpeama, I used to love listening to thunder and lightening - until we got hit with lightening and had a big fire that caused almost $100K in damage to our home. Now I hear it and I get nervous. They say lightening doesn’t strike the same place twice but who’s to say. We didn’t actually see it hit, but we were home and heard it. It was one of the largest BOOMS I ever heard, and we actually jumped up out of our seats. Within seconds, 40 ft flames were shooting up in the air. :guilty: We had to rush to get everyone out of the house safely, including my elderly mother (who didn’t want to get her hair wet) and our pets, and call 911 at the same time. People were knocking on our front door telling us to get out and I had to hand my beloved dog off to a complete stranger! (Who I thank wholeheartedly, but at the time, I worried he’d take off with her, she was a gorgeous and friendly German Shepherd.) All of our electricity had blown out from the strike, so the land line didn’t even work, it was dead 😬, and I had to use my cellphone where I got redirected and such, etc. Nightmare, actually, and I hope I never have to relive anything like it again.

We made chicken tortilla soup last night, it was delicious. I’d had it on hand and been meaning to use it up. It was one of the Frontier soups, ie a starter mix. They’re a little pricey, but very good, and (by themselves) very low in sodium, etc (what you add can ramp up the sodium content). I often have leftover chicken on hand and those are a perfect way to use it up. This time I’d bought a rotisserie chicken, and the whole thing went in there. We added some tortilla chips crunched up to the bottom and top, and it didn’t call for cheese, but we had some Mexican blend on hand, so we put that on top, too. A dollop of sour cream would’ve also been good, but I’d just thrown what we had out. Amazon sells these soup mixes, and higher end grocery stores, if you’re looking for them. The picture doesn’t do it justice.

I wanted to show you guys, as I’d been talking about buying DS a suit here for a while and you helped me with ideas, etc., and I got the navy blue suit a few weeks ago. But I wound up ordering him a nice Disney tie to go with it. (Obviously not for job interviews, lol, but for other times he wears it.) I‘d been looking at ties in WDW and didn’t really see what I wanted. (DH has some nice Disney ones.) Anyway, I found this one online and thought it was beautiful. I haven’t seen him in over a week (I’ll see him tonight :lovestruc ) but I sent him this picture and he loved it. Thought I’d share it with you all. I haven’t had time to give him what we bought him in WDW as he was literally leaving the house for his trip as we were coming home from ours. (A little birdie told me he was asking DH and DD questions about a gift he was buying for me down south, so I am looking forward to seeing what that is tonight. :goodvibes )

@frog3101, I love my air fryer and use it several times a week! Often, it's just to heat something precooked and frozen (like fries or chicken fingers) in which case I Google the settings or go with the "4 min, shake, 4 min...until they seem done" plan.

But I also make my own "fried" mushrooms in it, as well as a great rolled up chicken dish with cream cheese and spinach. - I'm not at home right now, but I can look for those recipes another day if you'd like.

I definitely have favorite pans and gadgets, but it seems like as soon as I get rid of something I don't use, I need it. 🙁

:grouphug: Lynn for your DH! And always a  for you!

Thank you for brightening up my Saturday with all your wonderful photos, B&B! Your grandsons are adorable. So thankful you had such a nice trip with your family :) I had to Google "funnel cake fries." They look a little like the French Toast Dips I used to like from Carls, Jr. I do not care for "real" French Toast and never have liked it. The "Dips" tasted more like a combination of sweetened thicker bread and maybe a bit of churro? :D

💛 to each of you this day and always.

Lynn and tazdev Sending prayers your way. Hope everyone is better soon.

It is a busy Saturday cleaning up. Older DS and DDIL along with the 2 DGS are coming to visit this afternoon for the first time since Christmas 2019. We have been to their house but they have not been here since then. Next weekend we are taking the 2 DGSs for a sleepover so we wanted them to be familiar with the house before then. They are what I call the wild children. :upsidedow They are a bit more exuberant then younger DS's 3 kids. Love them dearly but they can be a handful. They are 3 and 4 1/2.

Mona the colors for your room look very pretty. It should be nice and calming.

Love the Disney report and food pictures.

Have a nice Saturday. Break is over, time for more housework.

Love the tie, @Pea-n-Me, and those soups are amazing!

Let's see: Wednesday was MK day, and we had a VIP tour that day. Jaime picked us up at AoA about 7:30, so we could do the paperwork and he could talk to us about what to expect. We climbed in the van and away we went. He brought us each a Disney poncho, and a VIP pin, along with celebration pins, as we were celebrating DD and SOiL's anniversary (the day before) and DD's birthday (the next day). We went into MK through the back door, and then had an amazing time. We hit every ride except for Peoplemover (because that is a silly ride to waste VIP tour time on), Astroblasters (no one really cared); Aladdin's carpets (were down due to storms when we were over there) and the Carousel of Progress (it was down when we were in that area). We did Speedway, Pooh, and 7DMT twice. We've never been able to do all that in one day! We did skip the Jamboree, Presidents, Tiki Room (the wait was ridiculous), and Philharmagic (when we were going, the storms hit and it became a rain shelter....btw, did you see they are adding COCO to it?)

We had lunch at Pecos Bill's (sorry, no pics....I had a salad). At 2:30, Jaime was done for the day, and we just hung out and took pictures until dinner time. I give you: Skipper's Canteen...

Appetizers:
Cheese bread (off menu) with a pesto type dip
Falls Family Falafel
Orinoco Ida's Cachapas (on my plate, DH had already grabbed one off the platter)
Pork Skewers (not on the menu)

and DH being fed by DD and DGS....

Then we had:
(I didn't get everyone's food. sorry)

1. Perkins Thai Noodles with chicken (DD)
2. Tastes like chicken because it is. (DH) These first two tied for the best entrees
3. Hardy Har Char siu pork, which was good, except that top piece was nothing but gristle and fat...not a single bit of meat. (me)
4. A dessert for the celebrating couple....mini lava cakes.

DGS got the kids coconut curry and it was amazing. SOIL got the...Curried vegetable crew stew, and it was amazing as well. DD's friend and her mom got the grilled steak, and liked it.

We all headed out after that; exhaustion was kicking in!
