Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning QUACK'ers~ We had a little more rain overnite, but we were spared the heavy rains they were predicting, and got none of the storms. Its 65 outside now and only going to 74. Supposed to be upper 70's and lower 80's for the weekend, then the heat and 90 degrees come back next week. Well, it is July after all, so I kind of expected it.

Garden is growing by leaps and bounds thanks to the sun and the rain over the last couple of days. Lots of tomato flowers, and some small tomatoes..nothing yet out of the squash or cukes, don't see a flower on them. I did plant a few weeks late this year, so I hope they will start setting some soon.

@Kirby, no we don't have Suddenlink around here. We don't have many choices except for Atlantic Broadband who we use, a local company who people complain about, Verizon who I can't stand, and Dish and Direct TV.

Have to run down to CVS today for 1 prescription for hubby, and stop at Sheetz for gas for the car and mower. They aren't making money off of us. We don't go very far, and we still have a little more than 1/2 a tank and haven't put gas in for a month, lol!

Have a nice morning all!

Good morning.

I went MIA again. The heat really got to me this week. My husband and I were joking that I used to love the heat and he hated it, and I hated winter and he loved it. That has all reversed somehow. I now wear just a hoodie in 20 degree weather and I swear I had heat exhaustion the other day that really sapped me for a few days. I need to make sure I have more water and not Iced Tea when out in the high heat. Thankfully I came down to 70 degrees and a high of around 80 predicted and only 76 tomorrow.

No word on my niece so in this case no news is good news.

Prayers for all who need them.

@flyingdumbo127 - Glad you had good news about your dad. I am not one to ask about colors, as my daughter points out I have no taste. She could be right. I have always been partial to blue so that doesn't help. I'm in the process of changing my house to a shade of gray with a slight blue overtone. Right now my house is a bright Teal. I loved the color but it makes the rooms dark and suffocating. My house doesn't get a ton of light and the grays in the 2 rooms I have done so far have really been brightened and feel so much bigger. That is a tip my daughter taught me and she was right. I'll bring colors in with accents. I can't help with the cross since the only one I had for awhile came from my mother in law's funeral. I love Celtic crosses and will get something like that eventually.

I need to get a new television for the living room. We can't turn the one we have off or it takes 2 hours to get a picture. For some reason it has been off when I came down in the morning. Right now I have about 2 inches of picture at the top and then the rest of the TV is black and sometimes shows a picture and turns black again. It is very annoying.

Hope you all have a nice day.

Thank you all so much for your decor thoughts. I appreciate it. I took pictures of the spaces empty this morning so you can see what I'm talking about. I know I am a visual person and it makes much more sense for me to see a space :)

I found in my closet a small piece of green poster board. I held it for a minute against the wall and it really looked calming and lighter/brighter, too. The light green paper should work out just great. The blue clouds now started off as nice. Now they're grayish and also too busy! I really want simple! I'll decide later about the border tape. I do still like the yellow idea. I realized that a little brighter green tape might work much better because of how big a frame it will be. It should blend in better and continue with the calming/lightening feel better than the bright yellow would. I can definitely have some yellow in wall decor. It's a Blessing to be able to do this period. Right now it means more to me due to Dad's wonderful news. Truly this is a time for me to be happy and thankful in a deeper way. I am so Blessed indeed.

What do you think of this cross? Christian Book (New) Cross I love that it's a suncatcher! It may not be near a window but it should still reflect some light. I could possibly down the line figure out whether the metal hanging part could be changed to something else. I just really like the image--light, reverent joy, and simple, refreshing....definitely my taste!

I will definitely take a picture one day when I at least have the new paper up. It will mean so much to get to then think about and add to the spaces. I'd love some type of scripture and Christmas wall art one day. I used to have an image of the Holy family which I loved having. It was REAL dark and hard to see, not too respectful, IMO. I have plenty of time until this coming Christmas 🎄

:grouphug:🐣 Have a great day!

@FlyingDumbo, you might try https://www.mardel.com/ , to see if they might have any crosses.

We had a glorious thunder bumper last night with no tornado watches involved. The lightening was amazing but the dangerous kind. Our business bank is about a quarter of a mile from us and they think that lightening took out their audio/visual on their drive through. I just know that lightening struck pretty close to our home so it's entirely possible that that is what created their issue.

QOTD - Speaking of lightening, have you ever seen it strike anything?
Several years ago, DH and I were driving through a new subdivision looking for the lot where he would be doing the plumbing on a new build when lightening struck about 50 feet from our truck. The strand or whatever you want to call it, of lightening was so thick and I saw smoke from where it had struck the ground. It had been lightly raining, we were surprised by the lightening. I told DH that I thought it was time to head home.

Thank you, Kirby! I wish there were a Mardel store out here but there isn't. The one Hobby Lobby anywhere near me is about 45 minutes away. I enjoy browsing there for sure :)

Dad and I have had a welcome mat by our door that we got for almost free (surprise points, remember them)? at Kmart at least three years ago I would guess. It really needs to be replaced. I found a nice mat on Christian Book. Bluebird Mat Blue isn't necessarily my preferred color but I like the little bird :)

The welcome mat combined with the cross would almost be the needed $35 for free shipping. CB seems to send me almost every morning such a code. In fact they did so today but I deleted it. Do any of you have it? Or I can certainly wait until later (sometimes they send it twice) or when next they do. I think I'll go the CB route. I really do like the simplicity and colors of the suncatcher cross as well as the idea that one day it could be hung somewhere nearer to a window.

Yikes! So glad you got home safely! Thankfully I have never had such an experience.

@flyingdumbo127---Mona, I love the cross suncatcher and I love the bluebird mat. Hubby and I always used to get each other gifts that had something to do with them!

As for deleted emails..I have our ISP email sent to both the desktop and my cell phone..I also have some of them sent to my gmail. So if I happen to accidentally delete one,,I have the other one to go to, or sometimes the other 2.

It is absolutely perfect weather outside. Went to CVS..even the pharmacist laughed when he saw the price they charged for hubby's Singulair..it says it retails for $279.99 and it cost me $.23,,,yes twenty three cents,,he said 'why bother charging you anything'..lol! I also had $24 in extra bucks rewards,,so I stocked up on some candy to hide in the freezer. It was all on sale,,so it was an extra bonus savings. Got $18.88 worth of gas at Sheetz,,and $6 of that went in the 2 gallon mower can. So we used just a little over 3 gallons of gas in a month ($2.92 a gallon)..LOL My sister in law uses that much in 1/2 a week,,but then they go shopping almost every day!

Have a nice afternoon

QOTD - Speaking of lightening, have you ever seen it strike anything?

I've not seen it do so, no. Been close by though.

Uncle Sam let youngest off early today, so he's already navigated the shore traffic and made it home. He & his brother are going bow fishing tonight...they leave I start thinking about putting my pajamas on! I stocked up at ACME on the 'buy 1, get 2 free' of baby back ribs, so now we've got several rack of ribs in the freezer. Decided to try the chicken sandwich from KFC., it was the definition of gross. One & done there for me! Give me a few more years and I'll get around to maybe trying the one at Popeyes and then I'll have hit the chicken sandwich trifecta in my area.
Winding up the details of a 8 hour training session for about 35 guys next Wednesday. Let me tell you something, the most dramatic, whiny, needy, gossipy bunch of 15 year old girls has nothing on a bunch of construction workers!

Woo-Hoo, it's almost the weekend -:crazy::rockband::rockband::yay:8-):dancer::drinking1:umbrella::beach:

You made out like a bargain bandit, Lynn, good for you! That is my kind of shopping! :D That is what I miss about Kmart and surprise points (besides, of course their wonderful socks). That's so sweet that you and your DH exchanged bluebird gifts. Thank you! I will be showing them both to Dad shortly. Dad ended up agreeing with me that the mat may be a little big for our front door space and darker than either would want. We shall keep looking. I remember seeing more summer-y choices on Walmart.com. CB has some cute for Autumn for Christmastime just as an FYI :)

Good to see you, Bobbiwoz :) Yikes, that's too close for comfort!

Hooray for upcoming pajama and R&R time, Easyas, enjoy!

Wishing all of you a great rest of the afternoon. I'm waiting on mail and some packages here.

When it rains it pours. I spent most of the mid afternoon at the hospital with my son in law til my daughter could get out of work to be with him. It looks like he just had another stroke. Thankfully it seems mild as it is starting to resolve on its own. This has happened before. He is only 37 years old and this is stroke #5 that I know of. I am exhausted. I did go see the grandkids and let them know what is going on and plan on taking them to my son's barbecue tomorrow. If you can throw a prayer up for him it would be appreciated.

Taz- keeping your SIL & daughter in my thoughts tonight.

Kids (can you call them that if they are 24, 25 & 30??? Oh well I am!) are getting boat ready and about to head out for a evening of night fishing. Husband and I are still celebrating Breezy Carol & her husbands retirement by having a cocktail on back porch, chit chatting about upcoming WDW trip & our next river cruise. Dogs are watching the does in the far back yard, as are we.
It’s nice to have 3 days stretching out ahead of us…

Paper and Tape ordered. I finally found a brighter, lighter green tape that should not detract/stand out too much from the lighter paper green. I am currently waiting today for a CB order that was placed in part because a friend sent me money for the stickers she wanted. I can't afford to spend over $35 on my own (so I would get free shipping the next time it is offered). Makes much more sense to this one time only spend the $5.99 shipping to save $20! I would be getting the suncatcher cross+ a sticker surprise for a friend.

I'm sharing this as a word of warning since some of you may at some time look into purchasing Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. I had for going on 10 years a paperback of the original version. The text was becoming smaller especially in the bad lighting of this apartment. More than that, I was able to send it on to someone who will really enjoy it for the first time.

I had some birthday money left on Amazon that I mistakenly used towards This I thought it would be the original devotional simply in larger print and in a calendar format. I liked that idea (though I always prefer a physical book) because as I've shared before, I am not a heavier hardcover fan. I thought this would be a perfect way to better enjoy this book. I was wrong :( Should any of you want more specific info, PM me please. Bottom line is the original to me read reverent and sincere with the goal of encouraging readers closer in their faith walks to Jesus. This version felt like it was trying to make new money. I'll leave it at that.

My Jesus Calling experience is sort of similar to how I've come to feel about the Chicken Soup for the Soul line of books. I loved the original back in the 90's. I even wrote to one of the authors and he kindly replied. These days it seems this series is marketed to anyone and everyone. Along the way, IMO, the intent (I pray this was the original intent) of spreading kindness through everyday acts of kindness was lost.

I'd appreciate any new devotional suggestions. Time for something fresh anyway. Good news is once Dad returns the book to a UPS store, I'll have an unexpected $9.36 bonus birthday gift. No complaints just disappointed!

I have seen too many lightening to ground strikes at a distance which sadly almost always start a fire. Sometimes they can get them out in a short time and other times it is months of fighting just to get it contained and then it is a much smaller crew keeping an eye on it till snow fall is enought to put it out. Needless to say lightening storms make me as nervous as a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Actually even seeing the sky darken when we have had a hot muggy day around here gets me on alert.
Spent most of the day sleeping or should I say falling asleep due to the heat and that is with a fan blowing on me. Needless to say did not get a whole lot done today.

Good morning,,but its not. Right after dinner last nite, hubby said he didn't feel good. He was literally shaking, sitting in his power recliner. He didn't have a temp then, but a couple of hours later it was almost 102. Has to be cellulitis, again. He slept on and off in his chair all nite, I slept a little on the couch, was afraid to sleep too soundly. Kept him hydrated ,and he looks better this morning, at least a little. Never fails, holiday weekend, can't get hold of his PCP for antibiotic till Monday (he won't go to Urgent Care), so I hope that a day or 2 of rest/sleep kicks most of this out of him. Please say a prayer that it goes away soon. I was almost ready to call 911 at one point last nite.

Update at 5:30 am, he slept soundly for awhile..and his temp is down to 99. Thankfully!

Have a nice morning, will update later,,thanks everyone!
