@apirateslifeforme You and your family have had a tough month or 2. Take care of yourself and try to relax a bit. My blood pressure goes up whenever I go to a medical setting. One doctor used to take it at the end of the appointment and it was always in a good range by then. I do not really like doctors and have had not so great experiences with some. It is good that your blood pressure is better at home.

The pictures with LJ are so precious. He is adorable and so alert.

QOTD I met many friends in school or close to home. I met my BFF when we were going into second grade. She lived on the next street over from me. It is now 58 years later and we are still in touch even though we now live several states away from each other. We have met up a couple of times at Disney including her daughter's wedding. I wish we did live closer as I would love to be able to spend some time with her. Another BFF I met in high school. She was my younger DS's God mother. She passed away in her mid forties due to complications from diabetes. I still miss her. Another good friend I met in school and she moved to San Diego. I visited her twice there and she was in MA a few times. She passed away 2 years ago from cancer. Other friends I met at work. I tend to have a small circle of friends. I am an introvert and enjoy the company of good friends. I like this thread because it so friendly and caring.

Busy day at work. I knew it was coming but it was a bit more than I expected. This week will be busy so I just need to pace myself. People will have to take a number to get anything they need from me that is not important. :)

The temp is starting to go down here. It was rainy and 42 today. Now the sun is out, the wind is up, and the temp is dropping. I just hope the wind dries off the pavement so we don't get ice. It is supposed to be 19 tonight.

Have a nice evening.

My main birthday gift from DH and both kids was an internet connected digital picture frame. I so enjoy watching the it change as the kids can add pictures at any time.

I've seen those advertised. - What a great idea!

@PollyannaMom, you are doing much better than I am at keeping up with gratitudes.

Thanks. :goodvibes I'm trying, but I've missed a couple of days too, so don't feel bad! It really is a good habit, so I'm glad someone suggested it.

Have a lovely evening, Carol! I just Googled Longwood Gardens and wow how serene! Enjoy your walks and time there, my friend.

Hug, Snowysmom, I have also had some not positive medical doctor experiences. I am sorry to hear you have also.

Thank you PollyannaMom and Carol for the Monday gratitude reminder. I appreciate all of you so much sharing them.

Monday extra gratitude includes:

Sunshine along with the additional Blessing of another day of life and health for both myself and dad.

Dad was able to use a Coinstar machine this morning at Pavilions. Our small jar of coins turned into $27 on Amazon that we can now use for needed items--sort of like bonus money in a way. We start over filling the jar.

I sent out some first of March reminders this morning regarding the kindness writing project I'm working on. Grace always and in all ways (and matters) from God including on this journey He continues to Guide me on. Kind reply of encouragement from a minister friend.

I watched parts of Love Struck Cafe on Hallmark this afternoon. The ending was real sweet.

Wishing each of you a pleasant good evening.

Home sweet home....it was nice to get away a couple days but it sure is nice to be home. DD and I had dinner together and then she went to bed soon after so I sat my bootie on my comfy couch and watch some TV with the dogs. They sure were happy I'm home but keep looking around for DH, he won't be home until Wednesday.

Morning everyone. I need to go back and read the posts from yesterday. I did fly bys as we were really busy here.

The cabinets are in. My grandson did an amazing job. Here is a sample of some of the midway done pics. My grandson is on the left. The recessed lights will be flush mount LEDS

This is the added cabinets and counter space. He had to build the platform for that but it is amazing how much it opens the kitchen up and all the added storage I will have.

The best part of my weekend was this though. Me and LJ

And LJ. He is such a sweet baby and so good. I was thrilled to finally hold him. I even let my mom have more time with him than I did. I will have more chances.

Well I have cleaned out the fridge and am now waiting anxiously for the new stove and fridge to get here. Hopefully soon as I don't need all the food to spoil but I did manage to get rid of some expired dates. We are moving along. The counter people will be here this afternoon to measure the countertops.

Have a great day everyone.
Your cabinets look so nice and OMG....LJ is adorable. He looks like a big boy and I love chunky babies. 😍 Thanks for sharing him with us. That is the one thing I'm going to miss about my job is getting in that baby time.

If anyone has had a CT scan and wants to reassure me about what the actual scan is like, I would love to hear.
I've had a few CT scans. After my mom had her aneurysm, my Dr recommends I get them once a year to keep an eye things because they could be hereditary. I have to do mine with contrast, so they give me a drink with a die in it before they take me in. Ive only had head CTs so only my head has gone into the machine and not my whole body but it wasn't bad.

I am much better at home than in the doctor's office -
Same for me... they always have to take it a few times and then once again before I'm done and that last one is usually the best.

My main birthday gift from DH and both kids was an internet connected digital picture frame. I so enjoy watching the it change as the kids can add pictures at any time.
I got one for my mom for Christmas. She loves it because we can all add pictures so easily.

We save change too but we do it for weekend trips or vacations. The most we ever saved was almost $400. It's been harder now through because it seems we never have cash anymore.

Good morning QUACK'ers. After being in the mid 40's the last few mornings, it feels cold out at 28. Only going into the 40's for the day. We did get some winds, but nothing like they expected, thankfully! Guess we will be heading to the furniture store later this morning to look at chairs/living room sets. I also need to do Aldi's and Walmart either today or tomorrow. I should be starting Spring cleaning, but I want it to be nice enough outside to open windows before I do, so I guess it will be just the mundane normal cleaning of the bathrooms and dusting and vacuuming.

Have a good day everyone5fae25513120b8e538603b62699a2af5.jpg

My new Bible came last night! It’s: NKJV, End-of-Verse Reference Bible, Personal Size Large Print, Leathersoft, Brown, Red Letter, Comfort Print: Holy Bible, New King James Version: Thomas Nelson: 9780785233596: AmazonSmile: Books
Hi; good to have one with clear, legible print; for some of us, Bible print size can be a bit of an issue sometimes.

🐣 Seeing the duck reminds me of all the cute Easter things that we’re seeing around now! I love all the holiday stuff! Anyone else started to pick up their makings of Easter baskets? I got some for the kids and boyfriend/girlfriend, and so far have some chocolates, and also some scented hand soap for the girls. Will keep my eye out for a few other things - they will look cute wrapped up. (A trip to Christmas Tree Shops may be in order soon.) We also change out the lights on our mantlepiece each holiday or season. We had red hearts that just changed over to green shamrocks. After St Patrick’s Day, the forsythia garland will go up. Time is going by pretty fast, I can’t believe it’s March already! For the past four years we’ve gone to Disney this month. Missing that right now. 😕

BTW @PollyannaMom I loved your duck video, especially them jumping off the bridge toward the end! Thanks for sharing.

Cabinets look great and LJ is adorable, @TazDev. :lovestruc Can’t wait to have me some grandkids!

@Breezy_Carol I had a CT scan just a couple of weeks ago. (And have had several others.) It is a lot easier than an MRI (which I’ve had to have yearly and I do not particularly like). It is surprisingly fast. If you’re having it with contrast, they put an IV in, then position you under the machine, which is not like an MRI machine, it’s way more open. The table goes back and forth and you just move under a big circle scanner (not inside a tube like an MRI). They get images without contrast, then they inject the contrast toward the end and get one more set of pictures. When they inject the contrast, you feel a little strange for about a minute or so. (It feels almost like you have to void.) Then it’s over! I think you will be ok with it. Close your eyes and put yourself at Disney while you’re laying there.

You guys will laugh I had a trip to the ER for some weird pain I was having, and my BP was up. Guess what from? The ride over, ie DH’s driving! :scared: Once I settled in it came down to my normal, which is fine, but that’s the first time it was measured right after a drive with him. I can only imagine how high it gets when we’re in heavy traffic! :scared1: (Very often, I drive, lol.)

I hit Aldi’s yesterday for just a few things. (Forgot to look for Easter basket items, mind must’ve been elsewhere.) Was disappointed with the pastrami sandwiches last night (came from a regular supermarket, not Aldi’s). Too fatty with first bite, ugh. The last time we made them they were so good. Dog got half my sandwich, sans bread. Tonight we have some steak tips marinating. I think we’ll do some Asian salad with those and string beans. Over the weekend DH made an eggplant parm with pasta, homemade sauce, it was good. We’ve been oven roasting the eggplant instead of frying it, and used our own sauce rather than the one the recipe called for. (I can’t do peppers.) But it’s really good, especially the next day.

We save change too but we do it for weekend trips or vacations. The most we ever saved was almost $400. It's been harder now through because it seems we never have cash anymore.

Husband & I were recently talking about this very subject! I used to collect our loose change and every December I'd cash it in and use it for stocking stuffers! Some years we had some pretty good stockings at Christmas :) but over the years we've used less & less cash. I would keep one of those old popcorn tins in my closet and a container in the laundry room to dump change in, but not I just have some sad old container above the washer for when I fish the odd coin out. We hardly have any change anymore.

Good morning everyone.
Hope you all have a good day -

I have a funny story about that, too. We have a big empty water cooler bottle to save change in. We cash it in every five years or so and it yields a couple of hundred dollars. Well my husband wears my father’s wedding ring and he lost it. We looked everywhere and it was nowhere to be found. I was so sad about it, and he was beside himself. Anyway, fast forward several years. DH and DD went to take the change to the bank and out pops the missing wedding ring among the change when they dumped it out! Somehow it fell in there and sat there all that time! We were so glad to have found it. Lol.

I so agree with you about no using cash/change much. I keep quarters in my wallet for Aldi's shopping carts, and a few odd pennies, but other than that, there isn't much we pay for with cash or change these days

Glad you found it. A long time ago, I had my Mothers diamond ring. Somehow the diamond fell out of it. I searched and searched and searched. One day, while stacking newspapers to take out for recycling..there it was laying between papers. Sometimes things just end up in the strangest places!

No way! That happened to my mother’s engagement ring a couple of years ago. We’ve been looking everywhere for the diamond but it hasn’t turned up. I’m hoping it will someday. Then, the day she was leaving the hospital to go to rehab, it was a total cluster. It was her first time out of bed after a hip replacement and I was trying to give her a quick spongebath while she was on the commode! (Was waiting for nurse to come back to help me but she never returned, lol!) Anyway, I had her favorite watch and diamond wedding ring in a denture cup with all the things I was taking home that day. But it went missing somehow and I was pretty upset about it. She kept asking for them back. 😕 Fast forward to several months after she passed, I got a call from the hospital. They had her jewelry. What?? How the heck did that happen, I‘d had it with all her things! Well somehow it must’ve gotten away from me with all the bags I had so they just locked it away. Apparently they had tried to call me earlier but weren’t able to get a hold of me. The girl I spoke to in the belongings office said she was cleaning out a drawer, found my mother’s things, and decided to try calling again. So I was very glad to have them back, but sad that she didn’t get to enjoy them in her last days. If I can somehow find the diamond, I’ll have the complete set again, and maybe somehow DD could incorporate them into her own set someday or whatever. I’m glad you found your mother’s!

Good Morning, Friends.

I enjoyed catching up on all the new posts.

Welcome Home, AuntieMe3! There’s nothing quite like a happy doggie greeting is there? Prayers for your DH’s continued safe trip and travels home tomorrow. Wow! That is incredible that you saved $400. What did you save it in? I’ve heard of people filling Sparkletts type water bottles but to me that would be awfully heavy to pick up and turn over to release the coins. We use a small plastic jar. It adds up!

Wishing you a beautiful day too, Lynn. As always, your morning picture is so cute. I am so glad the weather turned out okay. I hope you find some nice furniture options today. Yikes, glad you found the missing diamond!

A larger print Bible has indeed been very handy.

What matters is that you are okay, Pea! I did get Dad an Easter related surprise on Amazon of a cute T shirt. One day post pandemic should we get to do the DL Easter Egg hunt again it’d be the perfect thing for him to wear. It would be fun to make an actual Easter basket! Wow! Also glad to read the wedding ring was found, that was a close call, too!

A popcorn tin would make for a good coin holder, Easyas! I’ve in the past had bigger jars and an actual piggy shaped bank. The current jar is easier. Last year a lot of places had no change at all. It still can be limited. I used to roll the coins in wrappers to bring to the bank. When the pandemic started, I realized how much more sanitary (although I do disinfect with a wipe all money) and easier for Dad it would be to dump the change into the Coinstar machine. We order all the time on Amazon anyway it works.

QOTD inspired by conversation above! Q1 Do you still make or receive an Easter basket?

Q1: I have helped fill Easter baskets/bags but not sure I have ever received one. I do have two stuffed animals from my childhood still. One is a pink bunny named Minty 🐇

Have a great Tuesday!

It's hard to believe that we are much nearer to Easter now than to last Christmas.... This year is flying already....

Print size sometimes has a lot to do with whether a book will actually be read. Hence too a readable Bible edition is important for those whose eyes are maybe not as good as they once were. (Funny how when you're young you don't always realize just how important issues such as print size are going to be in later years...)

Sorry for your loss.

Time is a strange thing right now, Person that's for sure. I agree with what you said about print size!

Love that you and your DH have Easter baskets, Bobbiwoz!
I agree. Mind you, some passages are so memorable anyway: Psalm 23, John 14; but it helps not having to strain the eyes if a really clear sized print is readily available.

Before too long Easter will also have hurtled by....

Easter baskets: DH and I still do Easter baskets for the kids and now for the grandkids. And we do one for each other. It is a nice excuse to get some Easter candy! LOL! The grandkids get candy, snacks like goldfish crackers and little toys and books. The big kids get candy. The big kids keep saying they don't want an Easter basket but they are getting one anyway and they do enjoy the treats. We still have younger DS's original Easter basket as well as the ones DH and I got for each other when we were first married. Older Ds managed to lose his. I suspect one of the grandkids hid it.

It is so cold and windy here today. I just took Jasper for a walk and he practically ran home. We cut our walk short. I hope it calms down this afternoon as I would like to take my walk. Tomorrow is supposed to be around 40 and less wind.

Hi; we've been promised a bit of respite with the temp. shooting up tomorrow, apparently...
