Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good afternoon all. Busy 24 hours for us as we picked up a new foster dog yesterday and then headed to the vet with her right after picking her up. She spent a quiet night at our house, and her medical issues are way more benign that originally thought, so that is good. Will spend the next 4-6 weeks getting her back into a decent condition, evaluating her behavior and how she behaves in general, and getting her spayed, then she's going to be up for adoption.

You mentioned Costco on Saturday... we went yesterday and hubby said something to the cashier about it being really busy, she said well it is Sunday afternoon. I had already started walking away but he said, my wife likes to come during the week right before you close. The cashier said she is right, that is the best time to come.

I wish I could go at night. Well, I could. But I'm to lazy! Our Costco is a solid 45-50 minutes away and well frankly, after work I like to go home to much to leave it again to drive north at 7 or 8 at night! ha ha . I WISH I lived near to our Costco (Target, Home Goods, a decent grocery store, nice restaurant...I could go on ::yes::)I'll suck it up and go on Saturday. One of these days I'll live near civilization again!

The kitchen has turned into a "what else can go wrong" project.

Fingers crossed nothing else goes south on your project!

Well the mail came at 7:20pm last night

Wow - that's late.

My mom wound up in the ER last night because she was in so much pain.

Hope all goes well for her -

Finally have my BP down to a number she approves so I don't have to go back for 6 months.

excellent!

QOTD for this evening: What's on your favorite cozy throw blanket?

I don't really have a cozy throw blanket per se - hell I don't even have a couch at the moment!!! One thing that has spoiled me a bit is my husband wanted a electric blanket and I finally got around to getting him one. Just a cheap simple one. Anyway, I will spread it over the made bed, and turn it on around 7 and let it warm the bed up, and around 8:15 or 8:30 when we go to bed (see...this is why I'm not at Costco at night, I go to bed to early ) we turn it off and have a cozy warm bed to lay in. Of course, the dogs have wizened up to this and when they see me head to the bedroom they jump on the bed for 5 minutes of electric blanket heat before I send them back to their own beds!
I do have one small WDW blanket, it's red, white & blue w/ stars on it - my cousin brought it back from WDW for me sometime in the past few years. It's not big, maybe 3X5? But it is so thick and plush, it's just so cozy! I keep it up in my closet but one of these days I'll use it!

We have full sun and its 62 degrees out! Did Aldi's, Walmart, Dollar General, Petsmart ($66 worth of free cat food , thanks to Purina)!, Sheetz for gas (we used a whole 4 gallons in the last month, lol, and Giant (Martins). Girl had put aside 2 of the store made chicken pot pies for me last nite. The line for the car wash at Sheetz was already 6 cars long at 9 am..way longer when we came back. I turned the water on out back and am off to wash the car. have a nice afternoon all

Favorite cozy throw..I have a fleece one with cats on it, of course, hubby has 2..a red one, and a white and tan checkered one. We use them almost every day. The cats all have some too, lol

Edited to add..we are now at 67 degrees..wow!

Good Morning Quacker friends.

Oh Taz Dev, hugs. I am so sorry to hear about your Mon. You and your family have sure been through the wringer. Many prayers

Have a good Wednesday, everyone!

Thanks it has been trying. My parents are in their 80's so everyday we have them is a blessing and they are actually doing fairly well for their age. Dad is the one that usually falls and he has 3 times this week but no injuries. Mom tripped over pavement that was in disrepair which should not have happened. I will keep a check on her to make sure she is alright and remind her I am the klutz in the family.

Painted the alcove but it may take an extra coat. We opted to just sand down the wall paper and paint over it since the walls are mostly hidden. I should be able to do that again today and the 2 coats of wall paint tomorrow and it is time for the floor and cabinets. We are getting close to the finish line and last night I think I actually slept with no problems. I needed my alarm to get up for my grandsons, that is a good sign for me.

Have a great afternoon.

That is an adorable picture, AuntieMe3:dog:

Thank you, Easyas, for fostering another dog with love. Lol, smart dogs! :)

Yay, Lynn that it is warmer there. Glad all of you, cats and all have blankets1 Champ had his own fleece throw that we kept by my bed.

I am so glad your home reno projects are nearing completion, Taz Dev and prayers for your Mom and always you continuing!

I've talked with two friends this morning, one of whom will be 94 on Sunday, always nice to chat with Shirley. It's always a little strange to me here in LA, to read "afternoon" for most all of you (except AuntieMe3) but I know it is. Just after 10:30 here.

Thankful for beautiful sunshine here today!

Also, leftovers so I don’t have to think about dinner,

and my flavored decaf coffee pods came in the mail.

QOTD for this evening: What's on your favorite cozy throw blanket?

I have a few I love - a super soft, mostly light blue Disney one, a Santa one I put out at Christmastime, and a woven one with landmarks of my hometown.

It is a balmy 49 degrees here today and sunny. Such a nice day. Jasper really enjoyed his walk and we did too.

My favorite throw blanket is red and has a scottie dog on it. I also have a couple with penguins.

DH is doing grocery shopping now as he was busy with work this morning. Turkey wraps and salad for supper. I put the groceries away so supper needs to be quick and easy tonight.

along time ago, we use to share some recipes and what we are eating for dinner. I went through my binders recently and saw an old favorite. i got it from Reynolds oven bags recipes. You take a bag, put orange juice, Dijon or honey mustard, 2 tbsp honey and squish together for the marinade, or could just pour over in a casserole pan , if not using the bag,. then place the pork or turkey tenderloin in the 9 by 13 pan/bag. Then add carrots and ....APPLES. ( yeah not your normal potatoes). Red delicious apples work best because they hold up to cooking. 350 for 45 minutes. I can smell it baking now, going to add some greenbeans and we are voting on Uncle Ben’s rice or Bob Evans mashed potatoes

Good evening.

It was such a nice day today we wanted to take a road trip. Drove down to the ocean in Delaware. Took our bikes but it was windy so we never even took them off the car. Stopped at Wawa and picked up subs. I have been wanting one for weeks. Took them to Cape Henlopen State Park, which is an ocean beach, and ate at picnic tables at the playground away from the shore so it wasn't windy. Did get out to the beach. It was so clear we easily saw New Jersey. Stopped at the Lewes Ferry terminal and walked around to see the new restaurant and seating there for future reference. Tried to get a state park pass but the line was too long. Then drove into Rehoboth and walked for 1.5 miles, just looking in shop windows, enjoying the sun, and walking the boardwalk a little.

Got home and fixed dinner before my Zoom reading group from church.

QOTD for this evening: What's on your favorite cozy throw blanket? We have one in the family room that is University of Maryland, woven with pictures from around the campus. My favorite upstairs, that I throw on the bed sometimes, was hand knit by my mother before I went away to college, so 50 years old now.

Gratitudes:
Road trip with DH
Beautiful sunny day
Zoom book group with church friends.

Today felt like Spring. I turned off the heat and opened some windows. It even smelled like Spring. After I picked Lil Joe up from preschool (Lou Lou doesn't go on Wednesdays) he was drawn to one of the open windows in the den. He just sat there and listened to the birds "talking" to him. Then he and Lou Lou spent some time just yelling out the window just for the fun of it.

In the car on the way home from preschool, I asked Lil Joe what he was learning and he told me the letter P. We talked about what words started with P like pears and peaches which he likes. After a little bit he says "Maw Maw, poop starts with P". I had a good laugh over that. I wonder if he has informed his teacher about it too.

Well the guy never called me back today to help with my Quickbooks issue. I can get around it but what am I paying them for? I'll try again another day when I'm not so busy.

I missed another opportunity to schedule a vaccine shot. This time was truly my fault. I am just so leery of the vaccines, I don't feel that they have been tested enough. Thought maybe I would just wait for the Johnson and Johnson one to get here. I've been reading about all three and I sort of like what I'm reading about J&J but then, I just don't know. Hard decision for me to make.

Gratitude - the laughter that my grandkids give me

Prayers being said for those struggling and in hard places right now.
Thankful that the cold, cold weather is warming up and that a lucky dog has found a loving foster home. @easyas123: Does the new dog have a name yet? Any updates on Beatrice and Willow?

Gratitude: My parents have been scheduled for their second vaccine shots this weekend. Los Angeles has had such a shortage of doses that many appointments were cancelled. Very thankful that supplies are slowly increasing.

Good morning everyone. Sounds like everyone had a good day yesterday, between nicer weather, new pets being brought home-@easyas123- so nice of you to foster yet another one) @Breezy-carol, your trip to the beach/ocean made me really jealous!)- kids making you laugh, (@Kirby, LOL at the P word Lil Joe came up with, go figure kids huh? ), and vaccine's being scheduled (or forgotten--@Kirby, I feel the same way you do about them, not really sure how safe they are yet). And to @FlyingDumbo and @theluckyrabbit) for always caring and praying for fellow QUACK'ers.

We are at 41 now, going to be 45,,so I am glad we got that little taste of Spring yesterday. Almost all of the snow has melted, was nice not to have to walk through paths to get to the shed or the bird feeders and bird baths!

Have a great morning!!

Good morning.

DD has pediatrician visits for both kids this morning. We are going to meet her this afternoon at a park. That's it for plans, other than the long list of chores at home to do. Each will take 15 minutes or less but just need to be done.

Watching the construction on the house behind us trying to figure out what they are doing Have to watch through a hedge which makes being nosy a little harder. Looks like they are removing a perfectly good deck. I have my neighbor who is home recovering from COVID watching too and we are texting our thoughts. This is what being homebound does to people.

What a beautiful and peaceful beach picture, Carol. I'd love to go there right now :) I hope all goes well with your grandkids' doctor visit.

Hug, Kirby and Hooray for Spring being more in the air. Love that Lil Joe took time to be still and listen to the birds. Hugs to you, my friend. ITA with your vaccine thoughts as well.

Good to see you always, Luckyrabbit. I'm glad your parents are able to get their second dose. Prayers that goes well for them. The warmer weather has indeed been lovely!

:) and I love the Spring-y Pooh and friends image, Lynn, thank you for sharing that with us. You really do find the cutest things each day to greet is all. The saying reminds me of a poem of sorts I read in college years ago called The Smile. It was about how a smile is contagious and can make such a difference.

Thank you for all your care, Lynn to us all :)

Dad is feeling a little better this morning, thank God. Yesterday he had bad neck pain. This absolutely could have resulted simply from how he slept! According to Google, it could also be a delayed reaction to the vaccine. He's going to Target this morning anyway and will get some Tylenol. Just a heads up to all of you considering the shot. I certainly pray none of you will have this (or any) adverse effect should you chose to get the vaccine. I just wanted to share.

🌸Have a bright and Happy Thursday, friends.

@Breezy_Carol I loved that pic of the ocean. I will get there again soon.

Well the day is nice out and I don't have the grandsons today. I am going to a couple stores with my mom, that is taking it easy in her mind. She is pretty banged up and may have sprained her wrist and a mild concussion. The stomach issues were a reaction to the Covid vaccine. Her doctor thinks all in all she is lucky.

The painting is done except for some touch ups. The floor is going down today and the cabinets arrive tomorrow and going in over the weekend along with the backsplash starting. The stove and fridge come monday and the counter will be measured and the template done. The electrician comes sometime next week also. March 11th I get the dishwasher in the morning, the counters in the afternoon and everything hooked up. Two weeks and I will have a kitchen. I have also decided I like the color of the kitchen so much we are painting the rest of the downstairs and hallway upstairs the same color with the longest wall 2 shades darker as an accent wall.

Mom should be here to get me any minute, we are going to Target to get some of the finishing touches I need for the kitchen, canisters most of all. Hope everyone has a nice day.

Tazdev, just curious what kind of backsplash did you pick out? Currently, my kitchen has a small tan square edge up 4 inches from the counter, but then there is 10 inches of paint color before the cabinets. I‘m debating on a kitchen refresh, aka, under $5,000. Not $30,000 for a new kitchen and am considering adding a backsplash , along with new countertops.
I’ve looked at subway tile, glass mosaics, so hard to decide

Slipping thread!

Continued prayer for your Mon, Taz Dev, I am glad she's on the mend! I look forward to one day (should you want to share with us) seeing some pictures of your remodel. You have been working so hard!

Sparkle, I hope should you do a kitchen refresh the process goes smoothly and well. Pictures please from you, too :)

Thursday Gratitude Extra so far:

A surprise act of kindness from a friend on paperbackswap. She paid for my membership (about $15) for the year. Money is tight/something we're careful about here so that was extra appreciated. Plus her kindness made it easier for me to (I pray) extend a couple kind acts by sending out two packages of Love Inspired books I was done with to two friends who could use the extra reading cheer.

Dad is safely home from Target where he did get Tylonel (so hoping he feels better) along with two adorable Easter/Spring-y tablecloths. He got them both ($5 each) so we could use the Easter eggs for Spring and then the flowers possibly for Summer or save till next Spring. Easter Egg Tablecloth and Flower Tablecloth

Always, all of you :)
