HM&M question: During the regular year do they also (like Hallmark) show movies or just during Christmas season? I've seen commercials for creepy mysteries in January but not no movies. I do know Hallmark Channel shows movies :)

I've watched a few of their movie series during non-Christmastime. I like the Aurora Teagarden and Hailey Dean mysteries, and also the Murder, She Baked ones, which are based on a book series I like. (The heroine is called Hannah Swenson.)

Several of us here on the DIS were also following a series of movies called Signed, Sealed, Delivered - in which a group of special postal employees connected lost mail to it's intended recipients (or original senders). If they show those ones again, I think you’d really like them!

I just started watching a she baked Christmas movie with Hannah Swenson. It looks fun, I’m only 25 mins then TV was commandeered for football.

If you haven’t see. The cartoon , 30 mins Disney’s “ Prep and landing “
It will be on ABC. Christmas Eve at 10 pm eastern. It’s about the elves who prep the scene before Santa arrives. But the jokes are hilarious and adults love it too

Boy, we could use the people in those movies, they might be able to track some of the packages we are all missing this Christmas, lol. All of mine still show as either not moving within the system, or being 'late'.

Good morning all. Rain just stopped here, at least it was rain and not snow. Sister in Law in WV got 4" of snow overnite! Hoping that the skies are clear tonite or tomorrow to try and see the Christmas Star, will never get a chance again in my lifetime if we can't see it this time.
The 2 things I ordered from Amazon on Sunday, show as shipped yesterday and 'to be delivered' tomorrow,,so we shall see. Those don't matter if not here in time, but I would like them to NOT disappear into the black hole where all the others seem to have been dropped. My friend in FL shipped my gift on Dec 16, but not here yet, and tracking shows nothing, same as the one I sent to her on Dec 9. :( Oh well, we can't control the Postal System, seems noone can!
I have an eye exam at 11 today, then want to stop at Aldi's for a couple of things, and then home to bake cookies, which didn't get accomplished yesterday.
Have a great day all!

Morning all.

Heading out with my mom this morning to deliver some things to my cousin. Mom still drives at 82 but dad doesn't like her going alone. I get out for a bit and dad is happy. After that heading out to get a couple of last minute things for Christmas and maybe wrapping the couple of gifts I actually bought. The grandkids are getting older so they just want cash now. Just upset I am missing most of the Outlander marathon today. My husband laughs at me. I have seen every episode at least 10 times and have read all the books about 3 times each. I even have every season on DVD and all of them on DVR. He thinks I am obsessed.

I have the laugh of the day. My husband had some more meds refilled. It's automatic. The one that was sent out on December 20, just 2 days ago, is out for delivery to my house today. We still have 2 bottles of this med as the drs. office just sends the prescription for 3 a day even though the dr. changed it to 2 a day. I will now have 5 bottles of that med and am still waiting on the one that has been in transit since December 3rd. It is absurd.

I didn't get to see the "Christmas Star" last night as we were completely cloud covered. My brother in VA had his telescope out and had a grand time. He is an amateur astronomer. He likes to point out that it isn't a star, it's the alignment of planets, etc. I tune him out. I live in a family of Big Bang Theory and I am Penny.

Have a great day

Good morning ladies & gentlemen.

Welp, made it home last night by 7, and was just settling down to have a late supper & a glass of wine. Got my heating pad out for my back - I was all set. For one reason or another I decided to check my email where I saw one had come in from neighbor just a few minutes prior.

Last night was the annual fire trucks & related equipment ride thru the development next to us. Seems the street behind us decided they'd do it up, fire pit, little kids hopped up on the sugar and dogs running around. Welp their dog - a super cute year old irishdoodle - decided he was having NOTHING to do with the firetrucks and related noise so he took off. Well it's dark, and cold and so we put our boots on grabbed our flash lights and headed out. It seemed the whole neighborhood was out looking for and calling the poor pup! Our farm has fields and woods that a steep ravine that goes down to the creek - which is wide but muddy. Lots of sticker bushes. Husband was in there looking, I was in the grapes, other folks driving around the neighborhood. No one knew which direction he went, and we aren't in a area with street lights. More like they plopped a development in the middle of nowhere fields/woods/marshland This went on for over a hour. That's when I went inside, and my husband stayed out for another 20 minutes looking. He heard one of the little girls shout they had found him, so he came in. We were glad he was found - so then another email comes out from neighbor...thanking everyone who came out, that the dog was found, and how wonderful the community was to come together to help them blah blah blah. Then he said that the dog was found in the house! It would seem he didn't take off for parts unknown, rather he pushed his way into the garage and went and hid in the house while everyone spent the better part of 90 minutes searching the countryside for him! I don't think we've laughed that hard in a while :crazy2: :P And I know the neighbor was embarrassed - oh well, all is well that ends well. Pup was safe, and we got some unplanned nighttime exercise! I suspect neighbor will not live this down for a long time! And I saw a falling star last night! But forgot to look for the other star - It was pretty cloudy though, so I'll try to remember tonight.

And, the cold weather walk must have been beneficial, because my back is feeling at least 50% better this morning!

It's a quiet week in the office, and today promises to be pretty low key. When I get home this evening I've got to wrap gifts. Picked up a piece of salmon for dinner. Tomorrow I need to pick up clams, and we are having our office Christmas lunch.

My husband is the same way with Harry Potter! He keeps most of the books in his audio book collection, and has all 8 of the movies on the DVR, and if they are on TV he watches! To a lesser degree, I'm similar with the LOTR & Hobbit movies I must admit!

I do it too. - I own all the DVD's and have re-read the books a bunch of times, but I still love a good Harry Potter Marathon on TV! There's just something about watching it when people all over are watching at the same time.

We are a little too far south to get a great look at the “North Star” effect, but we did go out last night. Could see it with my binoculars from right outside our driveway. A neighbor said they went to the levee, but the view from our street was just as good.

Thanks for sharing that photo, lynx.

Good Morning, All.

Last time I posted I was in a harried grumpy mood but a new leaf has been turned since then thank goodness. Not exactly where I want to be schedule-wise but close enough that I can relax with time to spare. I doubt the tree will be decorated until tomorrow but since it’s a prelit unlike it’s successors should be much simpler. Food prep and logistics are in the right place so it makes me feel better. Have a medical appt. so will “talk” later.

Be your best!

Good Morning All!

I love the Christmas star picture, thanks Lynxstch!

PollyannaMom, I do like the sound of that series! Thank you. I'll keep an eye out for it and/or please let me know should it come on again. I did see a commercial last night on HM&M saying that every Thursday night at 8pm during the regular year, a repeated Christmas movie would be shown.

Enjoyed all the new posts this morning and just as always checking in with each of you! Thanks, friends.

Happy Tuesday!

Good morning.

Got up and did an early, for us, grocery shop to pick up the things I wanted to chose myself. Store was empty, more employees than shoppers. Then stopped at Royal Farms where rewards members got a free Reese's snack cake today.

Home now with groceries away. I guess I'll make sugar cookies today. Dough is made. I was waiting to see if DGD would come and help but with the positive COVID tests and everything, I think we'll wait for the next holiday. And I want to make my variation of shrimp creole ahead of time to soak up the flavor. Then I can just reheat on Christmas Eve. We are buying crab cakes to cook at home for Christmas for the two of us.

In the "Oh darn" category. DS's normal days off work are Sunday/Monday and apparently if he had been at work yesterday he could have gotten the vaccine. He is on a list now to get it.

@easyas123 , one of my Facebook friends posted a picture about that same lost dog. She is the same one who posted about the food trucks at the elementary school. Do you know a Richelle?

We have a running group text with both kids trying to figure out our Christmas visit. It is going to be Monday December 28 due to their schedules. Were going to have it outside to minimize risk. Now rain is predicted. DH suggested the garage. It is a two car garage and we could also open windows on the one side and the door on the other side and leave the main door up. The kerosene heater we bought would also help keep the garage warm better than it did on the porch. DS has to discuss with his wife who has CF to see what she thinks. We all defer to her because she has the most risk.

Home from the eye Dr..and as predicted,,all I needed was reading glasses. I got a new pair with Vera Bradley frames, since vision insurance was paying the majority of it..lol. will save these glasses for when we go out somewhere and wear my over the counter ones at home.

Odd one concerning the post office today. My friend in FL just emailed me..she tracked the # on the pkg she sent me on the 16'th, and it said it was here in town, and out for delivery. But I just got my mail directly from the carrier and there is/was no pkg. I asked her to send me the tracking # so I can look it up and then call the post office and ask where it is since it said 'out for delivery' . Its our normal carrier so she obviously wouldn't have delivered it anywehre else :(
We have sun on and off and the temp is 45 so we'll take it!

Edited..guess what just got delivered to my porch (they had someone separately delivering pkgs..) I got the one from FL, and the 2 original ones that were shipped on Nov 20. Says they were processed thru Baltimore 2 days ago,,no mention of where they were for the other 3 1/2 weeks. But now, on top of all the wait, the shirts are too short and I have to return them. Also, they reordered me new ones on Saturday after issuing me a refund on the missing ones, and I paid for the new orders then. One of the refunds cleared our bank this morning, just waiting for the other one. On hold to ask them what they want me to do. I want them to cancel the new orders, but not issue me a refund since I got a refund on the original order, and have to return 2 of them anyhow..so confusing!

They have no clue..they told me to return the shirts, and don't put any check mark next to either kind of refund, as they already credited me. They charged me again for the sweater..but at the sale price, with free shipping (had to get a supervisor, again, and no sales tax). When the second orders come,,just open the sweater bag, put the 2 shirts in with it, put the prepaid label on it and send them back together for a full refund. I also told her I would never again order from them, she said unfortunately, we've heard that way too many times this week. Its their own fault for using an unreliable shipping company! Already put the shirts back in the shipping bag, taped it up, put the label on it, and put it in the lock box for pick up tomorrow. So done with all of this. Now if only my missing puzzle storage mat can make it here, and my pkg make it to FL I will be happy. The 2 things I ordered on Sunday from Amazon will be here tomorrow.

Enjoy your cookies, Carol.

I'm sorry about your package, Lynxstch, how odd! :( Prayers you do get it! I'm glad you got new reading glasses :)

Easyas123 that is so cool you and Carol "know" about the same dog. Prayers Charlie gets home for Christmas!

Slipper update is after wearing them for longer than a few minutes and walking around they are weird! My toes are at least an inch from the top and I have narrow feet. Yet the slippers feel tight. When I walk, the empty part of the toe box turns up! Cardboardy :( I wouldn't have known that just sitting with them briefly yesterday. I feel so badly now to need to tell Dad. He was so sweet and happy that I had these warmer slippers that he got me for Christmas in spite of the company first sending the wrong size. These actually cost more than the original slippers I had ordered that Overstock sent the wrong size of. Of course, we tossed the wrapping from yesterday :( These cost about $22 which for us is a ton of money. The body is soft and pink, I do like the warmer lining. The cardboard-tightness is not good. I'll have to see whether the bottom can be (disinfected wiped) to be clean again and call Overstock. As a slipper tip: Always be sure you walk around in slipper and also sit with them for a time before choosing to buy/keep them. Honestly, I wondered about them when I first put them on yesterday (but had not realized the toe box issue). Back to the slipper drawing board. I would appreciate any, especially cheaper, suggestions! Thank you all so much.

Finished my cookies. I watched A Welcome Home Christmas. Made me tear up. The military ones always get to me. And there were two reunions in this one.

@flyingdumbo127, sorry for your slipper troubles. I just wear Crocs so am no help.

I got a new pair with Vera Bradley frames, since vision insurance was paying the majority of it..
I have multiple Vera Bradley frames. Remember DH is an optometrist so I can get them at cost and I am also a walking advertisement. They hold up very well.

DD sent me a Snapchat of DGD on zoom. There are four couples that have been friends since working at the summer camp. Three have two kids each around the same ages. The kids had a zoom today. DD said they interacted a little but mostly parallel play. Something to keep them engaged while everyone is isolating and 3 days before Christmas.

Thanks, Lynxstch and Carol. A Welcome Home Christmas was really good. I finished watching The Christmas Note this morning. The young boy was sweet and it was touching when his serviceman Dad came home in time for Christmas. I knew from the beginning his wife and the lady searching for her adopted sibling were looking (the wife was helping her) for each other. So glad the kids got to safely play!

I hope all of you are having a good afternoon :)
