Thanks for telling me that Carol :) Fun question, thank you! I promise to take a look at my Scattergories cards to see if anything on there jumps out. I think you had a great idea to Google ice breaker questions!

I am a pretty laid back person who tries to keep positive. When meeting new people I can definitely be shy at times! So maybe lol a combo of Happy and Bashful?

That is awesome, PollyannaMom! You even included Timothy Mouse :) Thanks for sharing that :dumbo:I have always thought Disneyland should create a Mary Poppins ride. There must be some way to include a chalk drawing scene in which a car of riders or a person on a horse feels as though they are able to go into the drawing. It could be like a He-Man portal where once through a portal you (Disneyland guest) are in a new land and get to check it out its scene.

QOTD - Which of Snow White’s seven dwarfs describes you best (Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy or Sneezy)? I'd either be Doc because of my profession or Sneezy because when I sneeze it can be 7 times in a row.
Wow...so I'm sort of a Seven Dwarfs mutt...

Right now, based on my last several posts, I think we can all agree that I'm Grumpy. Because I also have a good dose of Sleepy thrown in there (as well as one of the Seven Minor Dwarfs that we never hear about...Sweaty).

When the cooler weather arrives and my allergies kick in, I'll mostly be Sneezy. Along with Sleepy and Dopey (from the allergy meds)...

Usually, however, believe it or not, I'm Happy...a little bit Bashful (I really am shy!) and some more of yet another minor dwarf...Klutzy ;)

I would say I am a combination of dwarfs. I am an introvert so can be bashful when meeting new people or at a gathering. Doc is another one as I love to learn things and read medical stories from time to time. And I have been sleepy lately due to not sleeping well.

Our thread was heading toward the bottom of the page again :( I did look at my Scattergories lists and honestly nothing jumped out at me as a good QOTD. So, following Carol's very smart idea of turning to Google, I, too, Google-d "Fun ice breaker questions." And did find a fun one.

QOTD for today, 7/21: Share something funny one of your pets has done?

QOTD for today, 7/21: Share something funny one of your pets has done?

I'll share two funny and close to my heart memories of my dog Champ (He crossed the rainbow bridge into Heaven in 1999). Golden Grahams was a favorite cereal of mine throughout my childhood. When Champ was a puppy, I remember sneaking him a few grahammies, as I called them, and him gobbling them right up! As he got older, he continued to enjoy graham crackers. We kept a plastic container of graham crackers (it had a plastic lid) on our kitchen table. One day my Dad and I came home to discover Champ had somehow managed to jump up onto the kitchen table and was busily trying to figure out how in the world to open the graham cracker container! So funny and precious, too!

A second, also human food favorite of Champ's was popcorn! He did not care whether it was fresh or microwaved, he just loved his popcorn! We know that young kids have an uncanny ability to in someway tell time, so do dogs! During my first years of college (I went away to school) my Dad would often watch the 10pm news and have a late night snack (often of microwaved popcorn) Champ just knew when it was popcorn time! My Dad would share with me how Champ would try to block Dad's view of the TV and just give a big doggie grin. If Dad did not get the message fast enough, Champ would pant or breathe heavily until that got Dad moving into the kitchen! While the popcorn was popping, Champ would do a little dance of joy, prancing around barking, wanting his treat NOW! As one of the stories for the project I have PM-ed some of you about, I am including a tale of Champ and his popcorn love :)

Share with us a fun pet tail of your own! :)

A few things to get caught up on. I love the black and white photo of Josh. You can see how charming he is.
Clothes - didn’t bother me so much, they were kind of like my school uniform, but I hate when sitcoms don’t follow the same timeline. Like Judy will be putting her kids to bed, then they switch to her brother Bob and his kids ( in the same town ) are just getting off the school bus.
Dwarf- 💤 sleepy. I love my afternoon naps. I would rather get up at 6 am and then sleep from 2-3 pm. My roommate in college bought me a sleepy dwarf stuffed animal I still have.
Pet - my husky/ shepherd mix once ate part of a birthday cake. I had made a several round layer yellow cake and left it on the counter to cool , forgetting the dog was downstairs. Then I went upstairs to check on kids. Came down and she had eaten half of one layer. So it was a thin flat cake instead.

When I met DH, he had 2 cats, a tiny little black female named Monster, and a large grey tabby male named Dio. Monster was SO standoffish...always had this look on her face that clearly said, "WHY are you here? It was so much nicer when it was just Daddy and me..." But she was funny, too! I have lots of good memories of her (she passed from kidney failure a few days after Christmas 2017, at the age of 17 1/2)...

She always wanted to go on vacation with us...Monster not letting us pack for trip 3-14-13.JPG

She hogged the air conditioner in our old condo (her eyes are closed, ears back...she loved it):

And I thought this one was cute...she was under our bed, so I could claim that we literally had a Monster hiding under our bed :)

This is Dio (named for Ronnie James Dio). He is a total Dude. He gets upset if you're not out of bed by a certain time...he wants the bed because he's been up all night "hunting" and he's tired. He will poke you until you get up, then he lies down and sleeps most of the day.

Full day today for a change. DS came up in rental truck to pick up a sofa and dresser we were parting with. It's about a 2 hour drive. After loading the truck and moving some furniture in our house, the 3 of us drove another 20 minutes to visit his Nana, DH's mother. Nana is 93, in an assisted living, and starting to go downhill. We thought he should visit while he was up here. We picked up subs at Capriotti's and ate at home. Then he took the truck and we drove in our car to his house to help unload. With this retired life, and DH's new car, we were ready for a road trip. Came home by way of the bay bridge so was in easyas123's neck of the woods. Got to see the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. Picked up BOGO salads for dinner. Now finishing up some laundry.

QOTD for today, 7/21: Share something funny one of your pets has done? Our last dog, a golden retriever, used to take her rope tug toy and fling it around. She'd hold one end and swing it and throw it and catch it. We called it "doing color guard" like in marching band. 512322
Here is Grace with her new tug at Christmas before color guard.

Just found this thread and am on page 6, but decided to join.

My name is Heidi, and I live with DH Glenn, DD 11 and my Mom lives with us. After being mostly home since mid-March, we are looking forward to leaving on vacation next week. It was suppose to be flying across country to DC with our cousins, but has been changes to three nights at a beach house on the Oregon coast, then finishing the week at their house. We have hit a snag with My Mom, and are trying to arrange where she will be (needs someone with her, and we are visiting with my husbands family - plus I need a break from taking care of her). Hopefully can get that sorted out soon, though it is costing us more money. Oh well, at least we are getting away, even if we will still be social distancing.

I just recently started reading The Dresden Files series (on boom 2 of 16) and am enjoying them. DH has loved them for years, and my reading choices have changes over the last several years, so finding something DH already has that includes 16 books was great! I really like Urban Fantasy and this fits the need. I have already re-read all of the Patricia Briggs books, and several other series since this all started.

tomorrow is also Bike Ride Wednesday for us. Started this three weeks ago with DD and some friends. We were taking a long bike ride, and were next to their house - about 10 minutes ride from our place. So we called them up and asked if the twins (DD friends)could join us. It is the only social interaction these girls have had for months, and has become a weekly thing. We decided to be a cohort as we have not been around anyone else and neither have they. Plus it is all outside. Now the girls all look forward to it all week, so I have to go. I tell myself it is good exercise riding bikes for two hours each week. The things we do for our kids. We are also in the middle of getting a new roof, so it will get me out of the noise for a few hours. So happy to have this almost done!

anyway, thanks for this thread. I really needed something to take me away from COVID, Masks, BLM, Riots and Presidential Elections. It is really nice to just make contact with people doing everyday, normal things and trying to make it through our crazy world. Really hope everyone is doing well.

Heidi

We had a dog (went over the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago). She would walk on the back of the couch and lay there, like the cats. She was a 50+ lb dog. Also, she would get going on chasing the squirrels out of the backyard and forget she had to stop at the fence. We had to put that section of fence back up at least a dozen times over the 7 years we were there.

When I was little (like baby little), we had a dog that chased....parked cars. He would bark at the cars, when they drove past, but if they parked on the street, he would chase after it and try to bite the tires. Dog had a littermate my grandpa adopted. They trained the dog to not leave the yard except if called by one of them; the dogcatcher would try to call him off the property, offered bones and treats, and that dog would not move a quarter of an inch from his 'spot'. Once, I was a toddler, and tried to toddle off the property, and the dog barked incessently, while holding onto my diaper with his teeth, until someone noticed.

Welcome Heidi! The Dresden books are my favorite series (and DS and DH as well). We own all the books in physical (either hard/paperback), on the Kindle and on Audible! Our first 5 paperbacks, we received from Jim himself, signed and everything. We 'knew' him through another person we 'knew' through playing Everquest together; she was a writer/editor of some other fantasy novels/gaming books. When DH had his nephrectomy many years ago, we received a care package from them, including his Dresden and Codex (that one had just started) books, some books from his wife for me, games, and movies. So sweet of them.

Anyways, the Dresden books only get better. The first 2, I think JB was getting his feet under him and trying to figure out just who Harry wanted to be; but after 3, it just settles in.

Good morning.

@Bianca and Bernard, loved your dog stories.

That reminded me of another couple of dog stories. 30+ years ago we had an oversized Shetland sheep dog. Think collie. We walked him in our neighborhood past a little strip mall. There was a bridal shop in the mall and he started barking at the bride manikins. And another sheltie we had used to bark at his reflection so we started naming them. When he barked at the glass fireplace doors we said Cinder was there and when he barked at the glass oven door it was Cinnamon.

Welcome Heidi! We try to keep it light here but also share our down days. And the questions are just for fun to keep the conversation going.
