It appears that the heat is all over the country. A friend from Colorado sent me a photo of his outdoor thermometer reading over 100 degrees...my mom (still in Illinois) says that it's like a sauna there...Here in CT, I had to turn on the AC at 11 this morning! It's in the 90s but it will feel like over 100 with the humidity. Yuck. I remember that 9 years ago, when DH and I got married in October, we went to Las Vegas for our honeymoon and while it was in the 90s, it was actually pleasant! People who live out that way often get annoyed when we East Coasters say, "But at least it's a dry heat!" - but it's true, to us anyway!
Yesterday morning, we got Josh all dressed up and drove to a nice park in the next town that has gazebos and bridges, to take his birthday photos - since the JCPenney Portrait Studio is still closed - only to find that there was an unadvertised farmer's market taking place. We were going to try going anyway, but there was no place to park. We couldn't even drive in, people were parking on the grass...I can't imagine anyone was social distancing there. It was disappointing. We went home, but then decided to go to the grocery store. It was busy there as well, and everyone in town must be making shrimp fajitas for dinner and having ice cream for dessert. Not one bag of shrimp to be found (as advertised), we got the very last pack of fajita tortillas (also on sale), and nothing but vanilla ice cream in the freezer. But we somehow managed to still spend about $80...
So this morning we got Josh dressed up again and headed back to the park. No farmer's market today, and we were the first people there. I'm very pleased with the photos - I got my new phone after his birthday last year, so this is the first time I've tried taking his birthday photos...

(I had to do one with the mask...we have to remember it was the Year of the Coronavirus!

)
Now we're just hanging out in the AC watching Superman II.
No. When I was in 1st and 2nd grade, I wanted to be a Brownie, but I think it was all about feeling special by wearing a cute uniform to school. And getting to march in parades. I don't think I truly knew what it involved.
I've been asked about getting Josh involved in Scouts...not sure about it. He seems to be more interested in sports.
I'm completely oblivious and probably never noticed. I just figured that's part of how you recognize a character.
Now, you know what does bother me? Why does Donald Duck wear a shirt and no pants as his "regular" outfit, but when he goes to the beach, he wears swim trunks but no shirt?
