Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Pea-n-Me, I forgot all about the Flintstones! Yes! Why did they not ever wear shoes? Even Wilma and Betty never did! Poor Barney really did often get the short of the stick :(

I just like mashed potatoes period no gravy, a dash of regular salt, same with fries (no ketchup). I do like a variety of fries from steak to shoestring to crinkle cut 🍟

Since I'm among friends...I'll admit something.
I don't like gravy. (norDaveMatthewsmashedpotaotestequillatheTVshowFriendspumpkinspiceANYTHINGincludingpiedumbvampiremoviesKoolAidhotdogs

I've tried...homemade, jarred, canned. None appeal to me. But homemade stuffing....now we are talking!

QOTD for today, 7/19: Did it ever bother you (or your children) that even in a cartoon episode that took place over multiple days, the characters never changed their clothes?

As someone who wears a black top with denim jeans every day, nope, never bothered me.

I like poutine okay. I am admittedly not much of a potato person, but luckily I am usually sharing with hubby, so I only have to eat a few.

:rotfl2:Nice one slipping babies in there. You're right though - they really can be terrible. ;)

Good Morning everyone! This thread was falling to the bottom of the page which is never allowed! It's a bit sunnier here this morning which is nice (thankfully still not hot) I enjoyed so much getting to talk with several friends this last weekend. Having a phone again is a good! Being able to chat with all of you is also a Blessing indeed! Please always know that :)

Wishing each of you a happy day!

I'm having a Monday...

(Why did Bob Geldof look so pretty in that video...and now he looks like Robert Smith's grandfather?)

I don't know what's going on with me. I guess the quarantine is really getting to me. I can't even plan on going anywhere lately. Except Josh's birthday, we're going to go to the Springfield (MA) Museums. They have 2 special traveling exhibits that we think he'll enjoy (Lion Guard and Hometown Heroes). Last year, they had a Thomas the Train special exhibit; he spent over an hour just playing with the giant train table. Advanced tickets for this year, however, are not yet available. I've been stalking their website daily now...

I'm not a fan of gravy myself. I think it reminds me of how my grandfather used to drown his food in gravy. Literally drown it...everything would be swimming in this big lake of gravy that took up his whole plate. So gross. But I like fried cheese curds...not really a thing here, but sometimes I can find the Farm Rich frozen brand ones in the grocery store freezer. They usually have them at the Big E in the fall, too, but that's been canceled this year. Plus I can't get DH to try them...he can't get behind something called a "curd"...but he did like these "fried cheddar cheese bites" that we got last year at the same stand (they were so good, even Josh liked them)!

Its not just you..I think the virus/lockdowns/quarantines/masks is getting to everyone. I remember the Spfld Museums, they have been there forever! I'm sure the exhibits have gotten better since the last time I was there, probably more than 30 years ago, lol. I hope Josh enjoys the new exhibits they have.

I miss the Big E too..that's one of the few things I miss about MA. I had heard that they cancelled it for this year, hopefully next year it will be back. All of the County Fairs and Festivals here were cancelled too. :(

Weatherman was right again today, darm it! It's 93 degrees, but it feels like almost 100. For about an hour this morning it got cloudy, and breezy, and I grabbed the lawn mower and raced thru the yard getting it all nice and neat again. I wouldn't have had to, except those 2 horrible downpours we had last week made it grow, lol.
Scary news from the second stepson this morning. He lost his sense of smell and taste over the weekend, which most likely means he's positive for the virus too. They haven't decided if they will get tested or home quarantine or not, which mystfies (and a little annoys) me. Hubby talked to oldest son last nite, and he's feeling much better and much less congested. Luckily for him, that was the only symptom he got for it. He goes back to be retested Friday and if negative he can go back to work next week.
More cukes and squash out of the garden this morning. I planted some acorn squash this year to try and see what happens..those 2 plants are climbing all over the garden, tons of flowers, but no squash yet. I thought I had a ripe tomato, but it ended up having that blossom end rot also. I put lime on the plants a month or so ago, which should have helped with the calcium problem they claim causes it, but I still had to pick a few unripe ones and discard them too, all rotted. We tried the powdered milk a few years ago, but that didn't stop it either. I just blame it on the nutty weather. Luckily there are a ton of green tomatoes out there that look fine, and some that are getting HUGE! We aren't fans of green tomatoes, fried or otherwise, so will wait till they are ripe and then eat a lot, make sauce out of some, and give a lot away!
I hope everyone has a lovely afternoon, and stay cool if you are in the heat wave!

Prayers continuing for your stepsons, Lynxstch! Hugs, to you, my friend, that is so scary and indeed too close to home. I'm sorry it is so hot there for you today.

Happy (official) Birthday to your DGD, Meriweather, thanks for sharing her cute picture with us. I pray she is having a fun day.

apirateslifeforme, that sounds like a fun plan for Josh's birthday! Hug to you and take care!

We did acorn squash for the first time this year, they are growing great and we have 6 on, but we NEVER got a single flower. We thought for a while it was a dud and we were just out of luck, then one morning boom! 6 squash.
I have a pumpkin patch with 4 mounds and plenty of plants, but I have horrible luck w/ pumpkins and they always seem to rot before they are done growing. I've decided to add a 5th mound and start another few plants at this late time to try to trick up mother nature. Plus my brother and I have a 'pumpkin-off' most years and I know he's got a few nice plants...neither of us are great at growing pumpkins, but we both do real good at stopping at the many farmers markets we have around here to buy the biggest pumpkin we can fit in our vehicles and try to pass of as our own homegrown :smooth: .I told him my goal was to need to use my tractor to lift my pumpkin ha ha!

I have a manicure/pedicure appt. this afternoon after work, and given that the 'big' town aka where Carols daughter lives, is about 35-40 minutes away, I told my husband to just deal with supper for himself and I'd do whatever since I won't be home until 7 or so. So he's having goose slow cooked with stewed tomatoes (yeah, me either) and I'm looking at cereal or toast or ?

Our thread is moving downward on the page, so I'm going to post some "blah-blah" to bump it back up... ;)

In keeping with my zucchini theme, I made Zucchini Pizza Casserole for dinner tonight. DH stopped at his parents' house before coming home; they traded in their leased Hyundai Elantra for a Hyundai Kona (also leased). It's bright orange, so at least we'll be able to find them in parking lots! He also brought home more eggs, zucchini, summer squash, and 3 huge pickling cucumbers from his sister's farm.

It's so hot here, I've had the AC on all day and it's still over 80 degrees in the house.

My aunt finally came home from the hospital today. 1 week and 3 days after surgery. They were going to release her on Saturday, but she had a lot of pain and nausea. Yesterday her white cell count was up. Today was finally good - my mom says she looks good and she was sitting up. Sounds like Mom won't be home any time soon, though. Her goal is by Josh's birthday, so she's got 4 weeks.

DH and I started watching Lucifer on Netflix a few days ago. It was recommended by many friends so we tried it and it's good! While watching one episode last night, I was impressed by the way they aligned the shot in one scene, where he's standing in front of his wings (that he'd removed, then they were stolen and mounted by a collector) and they appeared to still be part of him. I just notice weird things like that. Lots of interesting angles and cinematography in The Haunting of Hill House, too. I sometimes watch things a second time just for the technical/visual stuff. I guess there is a little artist in me :)

Afternoon hi to all from Me and Evergreen! I took his picture earlier today. I'll post it along with what he looked like during Christmas of 2014! Ever now is taller than my Dad who is almost 6'2"! In the picture it is hard to see that so take my word for it :) I am so thankful to God for trusting me to help care for Ever. I apologize for the sideways second picture. I do not know how to fix that.

Good evening.

@flyingdumbo127, Evergreen is the right direction when I click on the thumbnail.

Not much going on here. DH and I went blueberry picking at 8am before it got too hot. Only got a little over 2 pounds this time. That lasts us a while. Then I had PT this afternoon. Dinner was a recipe I got out of the newspaper. Easy and very good. A box of Spanish rice mix, can of petite diced tomatoes, then fish on top and bake in the oven. I used the mahi mahi the neighbor caught. So tasty and so easy.

DS is coming up tomorrow in a rental truck to take home a sofa we are giving him. Hopefully now we can get two cars in the garage again.

I think we need another question to keep us going. I admit that I Google ice breaker questions but this seemed appropriate.

QOTD - Which of Snow White’s seven dwarfs describes you best (Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy or Sneezy)? I'd either be Doc because of my profession or Sneezy because when I sneeze it can be 7 times in a row.
