Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Just to make everyone, especially @easyas123, jealous, DH and I went out to breakfast today. I wanted waffles but they didn't have them so settled for pancakes. I wasn't as comfortable as at dinner 2 weeks ago even though this was outside. Few of the patrons complied with the state mask requirements but the restaurant (Pier 1 in North East, MD) seemed to be following rules.

We watched the movie Just Mercy last night. I highly recommend it. It was uncomfortable to watch at times but a true story. Very eye opening for me.

Not jealous at all.
I will be making Mickey pancakes tomorrow morning. DGS is spending the night. He always asks for them be it morning, noon or night.
We still be not dining inside a restaurant *Our numbers are horrific).
Glad I like my house.
But the family is coming over for a pool party today and we're celebrating DD's birthday (which is Monday)

Done with errands, grocery shopping and FINALLY, got my hair cut. I feel like she cut about 5 lbs of hair off, it's just a little below my chin now , instead of halfway down my back. I was the first customer this morning. Holiday Hair in our mall. 5 stylists working , every other chair empty. After washing my hair, she sanitized the sink and the chair, and did the same with her station when she was done cutting my hair. It felt good to have it done (last haircut was last August! yikes). She said it's been steady but not really busy. Have to make an appt, they don't accept cash for services (you can pay the tip in cash though). Also did grocery shopping,,Walmart had an entire end cap of boxes of masks, they had 3 different kinds, it was $17.96 for a box of either 35 or 50 depending on the kind). Also found Clorox spray cleaner with bleach on the shelf, but still no wipes. The meat dept was full. Last week there weren't any boneless skinless chicken breasts, today there were about 40 pkgs, all marked down . I got a pkg of 6 huge breasts for $5.94. No limits on water anymore, but still limit 1 on paper goods, and what cleaning stuff they do have. It was nice and sunny, now it looks like storms brewing. We need the rain so I won't complain. Have a great Saturday everyone!

:grouphug: Happy Saturday Good Evening to all! I was so glad to read some of you will be enjoying favorite breakfast foods soon and have even gotten haircuts, too! I would love to get a haircut still! Lynxstch, I feel weighted down by own hair! So glad you are haircut-lighter :)

Been cool still here which is such a Blessing, heat will come soon enough. Nice Saturday :)

Gratitude:

A postcard from a friend
Rack-o Game is always fun
That my Dad will be staying home this weekend

@flyingdumbo127 I love your idea! Minnie breakfast with the chatty club house friends? Yes please!
I like waffles or french toast with some fruit on the side. Yum!

@Breezy_Carol We are missing Cracker Barrel too. Sometimes we both get breakfast, other times we go later and it's blueberry pancakes for the hubs, fried chicken livers for me.

@sparkle78 We used to follow your suggestion about timing breakfast and lunch in Vegas. I have happy memories of the buffet at the MGM where we did that.

@Meriweather Hooray for haircut day!

I made a big batch of chili today. I'll divide it up and freeze it. It's always helpful for me to have easy meals in the freezer.

Wishing you all a nice rest of your Saturday.

Good morning, nice sunshine here and high 70s. My family is headed to the park to run our virtual Disney 5 K. This year’s medals are the haunted mansion, tea cups, and I forget. Last summer , they were avengers . It’s a way to keep everyone active. Although, I will probably walk, jog, walk my way through

You are ambitious today. Hope all of you have a great day running a virtual race. Would you kindly tell me how you do that when you have a chance? Sounds like it would be fun!!! It was nice and sunny here, now it's clouded over and they say a chance of rain this morning (it rained last nite too). Wish it would just stay sunny and dry so I can mow the lawn before we get to 85 degrees for the next 3 days. No big plans for the day, other than I just emptied and cleaned out the aquarium. Walmart finally took the limit off buying water, so I could get enough gallons of distilled water to refill it. Poor fishies needed a clean tank! :fish:

Also need to color my hair today, after my haircut yesterday, it won't take me 2 boxes of John Freida to do it, lol!

Yikes, Meriweather! Stay cool and safe!

Lol, Lynxstch, soon your fishies will be swimming happier in their clean tank. :fish:Thanks for taking care of them. I once had a goldfish as a kid who I loved named Starky. He lived to be I think almost 6.

Good for you Sparkle78!

Pea-n-Me, I'm with you! My ideal weather is probably low 70's!

Thanks, Gwynne, I look so forward to meeting you one day, too at Minnie's.

Another beautiful cool day the good Lord has made. so grateful. Do something fun everyone and take care please :grouphug:

Happy Sunday to all,

Yesterday we turned one of the spare bedrooms into a mini gym. We decided not to go back to the gym rest of the year. We traded a neighbor one of our spare bedroom sets for some of the gym equipment they were planning to dump. We spent day tearing down bed and getting dresser out and laying pads on carpet and pulling in the treadmill, small weight system, and glide thingy (I can't remember the name that simulates walking up and down while moving arms too) and we set up small smart tv that can play netflix or workouts. I'll do my yoga with Adrienne in the room now too. So productive Saturday! After a nap and easy dinner we went to the drive in movie last night. It was super relaxing to just get out and feel almost normal. This drive in doesn't mind outside foods in the car, so we brought our own snacks and drinks and lawn chairs. We watched Matt's favorite movie...wait for it...Back to the Future. It was just a really nice night.

I thought of you all as I made chocolate gravy and homemade biscuits for brunch today after online church. Served with sausage links and fruit salad. Very decadent breakfast today. Easy veggie pasta salad and grilled hot dogs tonight.

Gratitudes today:
My Granny Hazel's chocolate gravy and homemade biscuit recipes. It made me feel she was with us today.
Good video chat with my mom today
Working on my homework and understanding it, well sort of lol

Blessings to all!

Those are two cars we are looking into now! May I ask why you chose them and how you like them? We don't know anyone who has a Subaru, so getting first hand reviews has been slow going.
Character meals: we haven't done one in so long. I miss them. There is something so freeing about being a grown up with characters all around -- the freedom to be silly and happy -- so fun!

We bought the Outback 3 years ago. We have the Grand Touring (whatever the super special one is) and I LOVE it. DOn't let anyone kid you that it is SUV because it's not. I tell people I drive a fancy station wagon because that's exactly what it is. It's by far the most comfortable car we have ever owned. I lived in my car with my job (easily 25000+ miles a year) and it handles incredibly well, responsive with pickup, and I love all the safety features with the blind side monitors, the eye sight that can help control if I'm not paying attention (there was chance I'm not) and the back seat is comfortable and has it's own heated seats. Again, I'd NEVER bought such expensive car if we didn't have a very large settlement from car accident. I would have bought one of the Touring or Limited editions. Also, as comfortable as my car is, it handles very very well in the rain and snow. I'm not much of a snow driver and this helps me feel little bit secure.

Matt went with the Crosstrek (Limited) because he knew how well mine handled but didn't need the bigger version of the Outback. He wanted lot of the gadgets with safety features including the AWD because he has longish commute. He wanted limited because of the radio has the apple/android play that will sync with his phone to show his maps from the phone to this radio screen like GPS. We also got really good deal buying from the same dealer as before. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions!

They said we would be 83-84 today, hate to tell the weatherman, but its currently 89 degrees. At least there is a slight breeze, but its a warm breeze. Got all the yard work done, colored my hair, and dinner is in the crockpot. Pork roast and a jar of slow cooker bbq sauce, will have fresh corn and mashed potatoes, and maybe a small salad with it. Then I plan on doing nothing the rest of the nite but relaxing. Hope everyone had a lovely day!
Gratitudes--hubby feeling somewhat better than yesterday. Why do men think that we can't tell when they don't feel good, just by the way they act??
Garden is growing well, lots of little baby tomatoes, cukes and squash coming up. Herb garden finally starting to take off..never had such trouble getting herb seeds to grow as I did this year
My cat is no longer Mr Cone Head..he was so glad to get that off his head. I couldn't wait to take it off him either, lol! His ear is a little bit misshapen, but vet said that could happen. At least he doesn't have the hematoma or the infections anymore!

Tina, thanks for the info on the Outback. We are looking into getting one when my hours go back to full time. We have a 17 year old minivan and a 15 year old Honda Accord. The minivan is showing it's age and needs some work. We don't want to put alot of money into it, just the essentials. We are looking at the middle option for the Outback which has most of what we want without breaking the bank. Older DS has a 2010 Outback but it has changed since then.

We have thunder storms right now. At least we got our walk and the dog's walk done before it started. It has been a bit of a lazy afternoon but this past week was crazy busy so it is nice to chill a bit. Supper tonight is bean tostadas with beans, chopped peppers, onions, and cheese. I am making roasted green beans to go along with it.
Have a great rest of the day.

So thankful to God to have gotten to read some nice Sunday stories from all of you :) From chocolate gravy to grandsons and decorations, to happier cats, yay :) Thank all of you for sharing, too.

I've had a nice day, too. Grateful to Amazon for my free prime trial and to have been able to use it for some needed and a couple fun things, too. Doesn't (in normal times and possibly on Black Friday) Amazon offer Prime at a big discount? I understand what was years past goes out the window where discounts may be concerned now which is too bad because now is when they are needed more than ever for more folks. Enjoyed doing some reading including of a book that was sent as a kind act to me and also DVR-ed Game show watching, too. Cool again here.

Other Sunday gratitude:

An email from a friend who was recently in the hospital sharing she is recovering nicely.
A nice email from another friend.
Being able to lay down for a bit each day after lunch and/or later afternoon is such a Blessing!

Goodness, I haven't been here since Thursday??? Time certainly does fly...and a certain child keeps me going! I don't even remember what we did on Friday except watch Back to the Future (again)...and I'm only reminded of it thanks to Tina's post ;) It was also our niece's 14th birthday, so we made a video of Josh singing Happy Birthday to her. He adores his cousins...I'm so grateful that they don't mind being around him. We're actually kind of surprised that 2 teenage girls would have any interest in him, but they're great.

Saturday morning, DH and I went to AAA to get our licenses renewed. They expire the same year because of moving back to CT, and since our birthdays are only 2 weeks apart, we might as well get them both done at the same time. We already had verified licenses to begin with, so it was very quick and pleasant for us. DH took a fabulous photo, as always...mine, HOLY DOUBLE CHIN BATMAN :scared1: And we also realized that when we're next up for renewal, we'll be 52 years old. Dang...I'm still wondering where my 20s went...

Today we went to my in-laws' and visited in the backyard. My SIL was there with her 2 crazy dogs. They're kind of near an Air National Guard base, so suddenly 3 huge low-flying cargo planes went by. That was pretty cool to see.

I saw the posts a few pages back regarding Josh learning empathy and compassion toward others, and his teachers have all told me that he's one of the most kind and thoughtful kids they've ever had. There was a problem at the beginning of this past year with another boy who was difficult (with all of the other kids). He bit one girl, who was promptly switched to another class. He smashed Josh's snack almost every day for a while, he wrote on Josh's shirt with a marker (I got it out), he slapped Josh across the face during storytime for no reason (the teacher said she was watching...they were all sitting nicely, then suddenly this boy just up and slapped Josh). My first thought was that this child needed some help and empathy, so we really tried...I sent Josh with a second snack and had him offer it to this boy, which did help that situation. The slapping, I just told Josh not to sit next to him at storytime. But try to include him when playing...offer him a toy, see if he'd like to join pretend time, ask if he'd like to look at a book together, even give him a hug!...we really tried, but after a couple of months of the bad behavior (with other kids, too), they did ask that the boy not return. We felt bad, because it seemed that he needed help and kicking him out of school wasn't going to make it better, but at the same time, school should be a safe place for the other kids. When they're hiding behind the play kitchen to avoid this boy (like Josh did a few times), something needs to be done. I think about him a lot. I hope he's doing better. I don't know if Josh remembers, but the teacher said that she did see Josh trying to help. For some reason, he doesn't show me this kind of empathy, though...but then, I'm Mom, so I get all the bad behavior. I'm told that I'm doing something right...he knows how to behave in public and around other people, at least.

A fun Friday QOTD to bring a smile now and in thinking about the future, what do you most look forward to enjoying eating at our Minnie's Breakfast? ::MinnieMoWhat character at the breakfast would be most fun for you to meet?

I never much thought about chocolate chip muffins until tasting a ::MinnieMo version at her breakfast several years ago. They were so tasty! Paws (Do mice have paws :))? down better than the huge version sold at Jolly Holiday. Non dessert item will probably be a Mickey waffle, of course! At Minnie's breakfast you have to meet the hostess! Besides Minnie, I always enjoy meeting Pooh. He was said to be a bear of little brain (which I never agreed with or liked) because what counted is he loved everyone and was a good friend. pooh:

Happy Friday to all!
I normally don't eat breakfast at home, but when I go out, I immediately search for a veggie omelet. I love the one at the Country Skillet in Clearwater, FL - onions, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, and cheese. Perkins has a great Everything omelet (ham, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, peppers, and cheese). At Legoland, they had a breakfast buffet, but they also give you a little clipboard if you'd like something other than scrambled eggs. I had a spinach, mushroom, and cheddar cheese omelet every morning there. So I see on the Minnie's Breakfast website that you can get made-to-order omelets, so I'd probably go that route. I'd probably have to have a pastry of some sort as well - I try to limit my carbs and sugar, but I can't resist pastries.

I don't know what character I'd most like to meet. Probably someone who most likely wouldn't be there. Captain Jack Sparrow...Jack and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas...Master Gracey from the Haunted Mansion would be really cool and unexpected (and Josh would like to meet him, too)!

Virtual run is on the honor system. You time yourself and enter into the computer. Then they send you a medal or certificate. Disney’s are kind of pricy. Ones for charities are usually a $25 donation.

Dinners - I haven’t mentioned any in awhile. On this week’s meal plan I have homemade meatballs ( made by one kid) with penne pasta and spinach salad. Then my favorite easy crockpot meal. Place 3-4 sweet potatoes peeled and cut up on the bottom, add 1/2 cup of water. Then place two honeysuckle turkeyloins on top. Next add 1/2 a jar of apricot jam or orange marmalade. That’s it !
