Top of the morning all. Happy St Patricks Day!

We had some rain overnite, now it's clearing up, temp is 56 going to be mid 60's. I have our corned beef ready to go in the crockpot at 10. Washed and quartered some red potatoes, cut up a few carrots, Took a small head of cabbage and made half into coleslaw for Mr L (he doesn't like cooked cabbage), and left the other half for me to cook with the other veggies. Lemon Meringue pie for dessert.

Apparently the paper carrier decided on his own to just skip out house this morning. Have a call in to the district manager for the 4'th time in 2 weeks. Is he really trying to lose customers for the paper--if so , it's working!

Have a great day everyone!

Just out to post office, library, and got gas in DH's car. While at the gas station, saw one of those big cigarette boats on a trailer getting gas. Had to check the pump after they left. $305 WOW! Hope they enjoy their boat.

Happy St. Patrick's Day and Good Morning 🐥

Like Carol, I don't really celebrate today either. I am wearing green though :)

Adorable, dogs, PollyannaMom! Thank you for sharing :dogdance:

There was a TBAA episode that mostly took place at a diner/gas station. I think it is called Finger of God I have not watched this in years so am not certain. The featured story is of a young woman who works at a diner. All I remember is that the woman believes that her diner is lucky and that is why it is withstood severe windstorms over the years. When a big storm approaches, she is adamant about not wanting to leave simply because in her mind the shelter of the diner=lucky=her saving grace. Throughout the course of the episode, God has Tess help the woman to recognize and cherish the difference between "luck," and LOVE, God)!

There's nothing wrong with feeling comforted by a familiar item, memory, or routine. I certainly do at times. I think we all do! :) This storyline did a beautiful job of perfectly explaining why I don't believe in "luck." Fitting for today.

Dad is getting my car washed :car: followed by the Dollar Tree and a couple other nearby errands including picking up surprises left at Sue's for Terri's birthday basket.

:grouphug:to all. I'll check in later.

Back from afternoon shopping.

Returned swimsuit parts that didn't fit to Target. Bought body lotion as a mom gift for DIL. DH and I rapid PCR tested, both negative. Went into Barnes and Noble and that was our downfall. Bought a book for Carter for Easter, one for DS and DDIL to read to Marty, a Dad Joke book for DS, and I found one on the $3 shelf that looked interesting. Then to Michaels so DH could get a poster frame. Gas in my car then grocery shopping.

The reason DH and I tested, and there was some urgency about baby gifts, is that DDIL is being induced tomorrow. She is only 35.5 weeks, but due to her chronic health issues, they want to deliver her while she and the baby are both healthy. We want to be ready to visit when allowed. So any prayers you can spare for Jen, Andrew, baby Marty, and their healthcare providers, would be appreciated.

Best go start dinner.

@bobbiwoz I hope you can get your shoulder looked at soon and get on the way to recovery.

@flyingdumbo127 Glad your Dad had a good doctor visit.

@lynxtch Your paper carrier is not doing any good for the newspaper he works for. That would make me cancel the paper delivery.

The condo I looked at today was not very good. It was weirdly laid out, small kitchen, they took part of the garage and made a strange room out of it. So, the garage is useless as a garage. My friend, DDIL, and 2 grandkids came along. I like having alot of input and they agreed with me. The grandkids just had fun looking around a new place. However, while I was there, a condo came onto the market that looks amazing. The pictures speak to me and that has not happened before. It has a first floor master bedroom and bath. The kitchen is beautiful. I think it will be a bidding war for this one. They are only doing an open house, no other appts. My younger DS and I are going on Saturday. My concern is that if I want to make an offer I would need a contingency of selling my house, The bids on my house are due the same day and time the bids are due on this condo. I can do a cash offer because of selling my house so I hope that helps. But I need money from selling the house. Maybe once I see it I won't want to make an offer but if I do I will ask the advice of my agent. He has been very helpful is steering me away from some not so great condo complexes. He knows I want something between a luxury condo and a plain utilitarian condo. I have been through alot now and at other times in my life so I would like a little bit of pampering and niceness in a new place to live. It just doesn't have to be an expensive overly luxurious place.

Tomorrow is a day off from work. I am just going to stay around my son's place. I may do some window shopping, pick up some groceries, and take a couple of walks.

Have a nice evening.

Also praying, Carol for your DDIL and baby. Sounds like you had a good shopping day and fun at Branes and Noble, too :)

Continued prayers of peace to you as well, dear Snowysmom. Keeping a very good that on the condo for Saturday. That made me happy that you felt a connection to it through pictures. May it feel even more right in person.

Extra grateful this Thursday for three phone calls with good friends. Another warmer day here and that God-willing I'll get to see Barbara Ann in April just before Terri's birthday. Barbara Ann will bring Terri the surprise basket on her birthday a few days later.

Have a good rest of the day, my friends.

This is like a Soap Opera! I can't wait to hear what they have to say!

I think they probably got off cheap and didn't fill up all the way!
DDIL is being induced tomorrow.
Oh how exciting, I'm sure they'll hardly get a wink tonight - but that's okay. I hope they have a safe, quick inducement and she has a easy delivery. I remember the night before I was induced with eldest...I pretty much had changed my mind. Nevermind, don't want to give birth, no thanks. I'll just stay pregnant! There is something about that inevitable mental freak out when it actually happens, that we will soon have zero control of our bodies, but as soon as it's over we forget. I guess that is natures way of making sure we endure. I'm sure you and your husband will be on pins & needles as well, I hope you get some sleep, too! Is this the first grandchild on your DIL's side?

Long day today, in the office from about 6:45 till about 4:45. Got home, husband and I grabbed a beer and off we went out with the pups for a long meander. He took a roast and some other items out of the freezer since he got a hankering to smoke this weekend. He'll pass on a lot to the boys so we won't be inundated with a ton of smoked bear roasts and whatever else he is smoking. I need to go into the office early tomorrow, and anticipate another long day - but that is okay, I've got a TON of stuff to catch up on and I want it done and finished before I have to travel (for work) next week.

First set of new sheets I ordered for the new mattress arrived today. I figured I'd start stalking some sales for new sheets since this bed is a different size and I'd need new ones, managed to snag two sets so far at great prices. I need to get a new comforter but I have another month so I'll start shopping for that soon.

Time for supper - Congrats again Carol!!!

a condo came onto the market that looks amazing.
I hope this one works out for you.

I don't understand about the bids on your current home due on a specific date. In every sale I was involved with, 6 so far, the offers came in as people made them.

Is this the first grandchild on your DIL's side?
No. Her sister has a 6 year old and is pregnant with her second.

23--

About 10 the phone rang. It was the Tribune Democrat in Johnstown PA--they are the parent company of the Times News.
I tried in vain to find their phone number for 2 days..now I have it. It was a lady who asked if my paper had come. I said no, she said she was going to put in an order for a paper to be brought out. Then said she was going to contact the district manager. I said I had already talked to her 2x this week, and all she said was 'I will tell the carrier to make sure the paper goes in the box'. Then I told her about the carrier knocking the trash into the storm drain,, then the next day driving into the wooden box and breaking it, and about yesterday and his throwing the paper into the driveway. She sounded a little stunned, and told me she was going to bring this to the attention of the Director , who is the District Manager's boss. She said if I have any more trouble, to call her at the number she called from. I thanked her and hung up.
About 11, I went out to see if the paper had come yet. Someone had moved the post the box is mounted on closer to the street (I know it was moved because I had a ring of stones around it..and had some shoved in the hole to wedge the pole tight enough not to move)--well now the pole was laying in the road. box still attached.. They had just pulled it out of the hole it was in, and stuck it in the ground too close to the edge of the road, didn't hammer it in like it was put in originally, so I guess it just fell out. I moved it..took the paper out of the box (surprised that didn't end up out in the street too.) I came in and called her , told her what had happened. (We both assumer the carrier is the one who brought the paper and moved the pole after she spoke to him and the district manager and he was told to bring me a paper asap. She said she was waiting for the Director to call her back, and that she would get back to me. I picked the pole up, and put it back in the original hole (where it was a lot more secure), put the rocks back in the hole and around the pole. I wasn't going to leave it laying in the street causing a hazard to drivers, and I didn't want it in the edge of the driveway. . She called me back this afternoon and said the carrier, and the district manager had both been spoken to about this whole thing twice today, and that if my paper isn't in the box tomorrow..if someone moves the box again, or if the paper is in the driveway , or delivered later than 7 am , to call her directly, not to leave a voicemail at the Times News. They say its supposed to be here by 6 am during the week and 7 on Saturday, but I know they are short on carriers so I give them an extra hour . So we shall see what happens. She also offered me 6 free months if I didn't cancel. I told her I would wait a couple of days and see if the carrier straightens out his act. If he doesn't, 6 free months won't make me stay, lol!

Fingers crossed, @Breezy_Carol and @Snowysmom, for an easy delivery and a condo deal!
Here here! ❤️🐣

@easy, so true :lmao:

Because the market is so hot now agents have all bids come in to be reviewed at one time. It is crazy now but once it cools off it may go back to the way it was. My realtor and the realtors who bring people by to look keep shutting off my outside light and the 2 lights I want on inside. The outside light goes on at dusk and off a dawn but the switch needs to be on. Just leave my stuff alone. I am texting my agent today. I don't want to drive back to the house today as I have to go both weekend days and I went Wed and Thurs too. I need a break from 495, I will have to hope that nothing happens between now and tomorrow. I do have the alarm system on at night and a camera I can see if anyone is at the door.

It figures that another condo came on the market at the same time as the one that I really like. It is something I could definitely look at and could be another possibility. But, the first one I saw is really calling my name. I know there will be lots of bids and they are only having a one and a half hour showing. I have to talk with my younger DS son to figure our a strategy if it is one I want. I know buyers have cash ready to go and can bid alot over if they really want something. I have to sell my house and it will be selling on Monday. I have to not get set on this condo because it is going to be a bidding war. I am a anxious and sad today so I probably sound like a crazy person.

It will be a warm day today so good for walking.

Have a good day.

Good morning all. Going to be at least 75 today, weather just keeps changing back and forth
No newspaper yet this morning (7:30), so I will give it till 8 before I call
@Snowysmom--if this condo is the one that is meant to be yours, then it will be

Quick trip to Ollies later this morning, then spring cleaning. Drew up a chart of what I need to do, what could be done if I feel like it, and things that don't really need to be done again till fall. Today will be washing the windows, wiping down the blinds, and maybe washing the curtains. That depends if I find a new quilt set and curtains I like at Ollies

Have a great day everyone
