Have a call in to the district manager for the 4'th time in 2 weeks
This is like a Soap Opera! I can't wait to hear what they have to say!
23--
About 10 the phone rang. It was the Tribune Democrat in Johnstown PA--they are the parent company of the Times News.
I tried in vain to find their phone number for 2 days..now I have it. It was a lady who asked if my paper had come. I said no, she said she was going to put in an order for a paper to be brought out. Then said she was going to contact the district manager. I said I had already talked to her 2x this week, and all she said was 'I will tell the carrier to make sure the paper goes in the box'. Then I told her about the carrier knocking the trash into the storm drain,, then the next day driving into the wooden box and breaking it, and about yesterday and his throwing the paper into the driveway. She sounded a little stunned, and told me she was going to bring this to the attention of the Director , who is the District Manager's boss. She said if I have any more trouble, to call her at the number she called from. I thanked her and hung up.
About 11, I went out to see if the paper had come yet. Someone had moved the post the box is mounted on closer to the street (I know it was moved because I had a ring of stones around it..and had some shoved in the hole to wedge the pole tight enough not to move)--well now the pole was laying in the road. box still attached.. They had just pulled it out of the hole it was in, and stuck it in the ground too close to the edge of the road, didn't hammer it in like it was put in originally, so I guess it just fell out. I moved it..took the paper out of the box (surprised that didn't end up out in the street too.) I came in and called her , told her what had happened. (We both assumer the carrier is the one who brought the paper and moved the pole after she spoke to him and the district manager and he was told to bring me a paper asap. She said she was waiting for the Director to call her back, and that she would get back to me. I picked the pole up, and put it back in the original hole (where it was a lot more secure), put the rocks back in the hole and around the pole. I wasn't going to leave it laying in the street causing a hazard to drivers, and I didn't want it in the edge of the driveway. . She called me back this afternoon and said the carrier, and the district manager had both been spoken to about this whole thing twice today, and that if my paper isn't in the box tomorrow..if someone moves the box again, or if the paper is in the driveway , or delivered later than 7 am , to call her directly, not to leave a voicemail at the Times News. They say its supposed to be here by 6 am during the week and 7 on Saturday, but I know they are short on carriers so I give them an extra hour . So we shall see what happens. She also offered me 6 free months if I didn't cancel. I told her I would wait a couple of days and see if the carrier straightens out his act. If he doesn't, 6 free months won't make me stay, lol!
