DS and DIL had us over for lunch. They were wanting to share a big announcement!

DIL is pregnant! They got married last September and wanted to have a baby right away as time is passing quickly.

'She' will be coming on or about August 24th and already has a name but we are not allowed to guess.

We are all excited for them and I am looking forward to another granddaughter.

Congratulations. August 24 is a great day for a grandchild. That is my grandson Jay's birthday.

Just got back from a 2+ mile walk in the woods by a creek. It was muddy but we saw geese, Mallards, and turtles. So nice to be out walking again.

Dinner tonight is leftover Spanish rice with tomatoes and chicken sausage. Stopped on the way home from our walk for chocolate ice cream for later.

Book Talk: Just finished The Midnight Library. It was very good and thought provoking. Started Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult on recommendation pf my SonIL. It also is very good.

DIL is pregnant!
:cool1: Congratulations! I hope all goes smoothly.

My daughter is 35 today. She went to college and nursing school and then got her bachelor's degree all while raising 3 boys, 2 of whom were toddlers. She has turned into an amazing daughter, mother, wife, nurse, woman.
You should be proud. Happy Birthday!

Congrats on the newest grandbaby! Aug 24th is DD#1 birthday!
@tazdev3225 Happy bday to your daughter; you should be so proud of her!

DH and I went to the biscuit place by the old apt for breakfast; he had his usual 'Squacking Goat' and coffee; I had the new chicken fried steak + gravy on a biscuit and a caramel toffee latte (which was waaaay to sweet), and we shared some home fries w/peppers, onions and cheese. Then we did some work at the apt. We have to go back tomorrow to finish cleaning the oven (the first go didn't work very well, so I'm letting it sit overnight), paint the spots on the walls that we had to fill and sand today (where things were hung), vacuum and sweep/mop. Had two stops at Home Depot today for stuff; and we also went to SuperTarget to get a few groceries.

We are both pretty exhausted. Ordered Jimmy Hula's for dinner. We're sharing a shrimp po'boy, Mojo fries, a Steak Jimi taco, a Johnny Utah taco, and a Luau taco. Haven't had this place before, so hopefully it's good.

We picked up some celery, broccoli, peppers and carrots for tomorrow; I have a green goddess dip, a Tzatiki dip, and a sour cream/onion soup mix dip. We have chips and salsa; some various flavors of popcorn (Reese's pb and chocolate; maple; and cheddar). We're either going to have one of the raviolis I bought the other day at Trader Joes or PF Changs frozen meals OR we will order out; will have to see how tired I am tomorrow.

Y'all have a good night!

What a wonderful blessing of news, Judique! Congratulations Grandma-to-be! I like that the baby will share her birthday with Jay, Taz’ grandson, an extra Quacker connection! I hope the two get to somehow meet one day along with of course, both of you ladies!

Hug, Taz and continued prayer for Anthony. I am very glad to hear your DD did get the paid time off! Blessing indeed and prayers that helps ease some of the uncertainty and sadness of this from all of your shoulders. Happy Birthday to your daughter! What an accomplished lady she sounds like and a great example for her children—as are YOU, their grandma! :grouphug:on your mom. I'll pray for her.

I’m glad you did get in your walk, Carol. I just Googled that book and will check it out as an Ebook sometimes as a more comfortable way for me to read it. I do remember years ago being very touched by an older Jodi Picoult book called Harvesting the Heart. I don’t remember much of anything about that story now just that at one time, it moved me.

LOL, B&B! What in the world is “squacking goat?” I do hope both you and your DH enjoyed your breakfasts.

Working on adding pictures to a scrapbook dad and I are making together and enjoying being warm!

@Judique Congrats on the new grandbaby.

I had a nice time with the grandkids today. My youngest DGD wanted to play hide and seek. Her way of playing is to tell me where to hide. When she hides, after I count she comes running out laughing. She is almost 3. DGS had books he wanted to show me, Older DGD has basketball and then she came home and chilled out. I gave them their valentine bags and of course the candy was a big hit. I hope the books will be too.

Younger DS and I showed the house to the guy who wanted to buy it. He showed up with 2 other guys who I think may be the 2 others the real estate told me about who also buy houses to flip. They liked the house and said what good shape it is in. I told him that I am still looking at my options and have not made a decision on anything. I even said I may surprise everyone and stay here. He asked me what I thought it was worth and I said I need to get it appraised. Younger DS asked him if he was buying the house for himself or was it more likely an investment. The guy said he may live in it or he may make it an investment, he is looking at his options. So, tomorrow or Monday I call the real estate agent to set up an appointment at the house. I am going with him. I have a very positive feeling from talking with him and my DDIL said her parents know people who think the world of the real estate agent and he is very honest, caring, and has integrity. I am glad this meeting is over and I can move forward with selling the house and looking for a condo. Before the guy came to the house I chopped up and shoveled ice in the driveway. DS came and he chopped the ice while I shoveled it. My hands and arms hurt now. We also moved stuff for the carpet cleaners. I feel like I had a workout. I have a new installment of signs from Chris. DS and I were waiting at the house to order lunch. He turned on the TV. Now the only channels I have had the TV on since Chris passed are a news network, a business network, the weather channel, and Hallmark Channel. DS turns on the TV and the game show network comes up. That was Chris' favorite. That was on the morning Chris passed. I have not had it on that channel since. So I just said Hi Chris. DS told me that at his house sometimes he turns on his TV and the Buzzer channel comes on and 90% of the time it is Match Game. Chris liked that too. DS does not watch any game show networks. I told DS that Dad is visiting you too.

Have a nice evening.

@Kirby, sorry about your DH's sister.

Off to watch the Hallmark channel about the Wedding Veil.
I'm taping that one as well. 👰‍♀️🤵
I also am taping it.

We watched an episode of Better Call Saul and one of Murderville, both on Netflix. DS told us to watch Murderville. DH was laughing so hard we had to pause the show.

Off to bed with my book.

@Kirby Sorry about your SIL.

I will watch the wedding veil movie when it is on again. I liked the first one.

It is snowing lightly here. I am going to the house but I will wait a bit until the snow is melted off the roads. Where my house is the snow supposed to be lighter. I want to shovel off the walkway and feed the birds and the squirrel. Here is a picture of the squirrel hugging the birdfeeder as he eats.Squirrel at birdfeeder 02.12.22.jpg

Good morning. I want to know why the ground is white with snow, when there was none in the forecast? I thought I heard a plow (must have been salting the road),and saw flashing lights go down the road around 3 am, thought I was dreaming, but unfortuately I wasn't :( Like @Snowysmom,,we have a light dusting..love the squirrel picture--looks like he's swinging on the feeder, lol--glad that the house showing went better than expected, and I hope your real estate friend turns out to be a godsend in helping you sell that one, and find something you fall in love with enough to call 'home'

@Kirby--so sorry about your Sister in Law. Sending prayers, and I hope you get to see her next weekend.

@Bianca and Bernard--I too would like to know what Squaking Goat is..doesn't sound appetizing, lol

@Judique--congratulations on the upcoming arrival of a new grandbaby!!

We are only getting to 34 today, by the end of the week, back into the 60's again. I did a long hot relaxing beauty routine yesterday afternoon,,then made dinner. Boneless chicken thighs marinated in Chic A Filet Polynesian sauce. (Walmart now has a display of the sauces to buy). Had a salad and basmati rice with it. Tonite will be dry rubbed ribs, baked potato and coleslaw. I have to make the coleslaw after Mr L wakes up so I can use the food processor. He also has to decide if he wants me to bake a small cake, or a small tray of brownies.

Have a great morning all--GO BENGALS!!!!

We are getting a pretty snow here. Not enough to fully cover the grass and the roads are clear because they are still warm from the past few days.

Church was nice. Good music today. And on the way out, the kids from Sunday school were handing out Valentines cards they made.

We are in for the day. Probably have a fire in the fireplace and watch the game. I really don't care who wins. Will make homemade pizza, including homemade dough with yeast.:scared1:

News News News!!
What great news for your son & daughter in law & everyone in your family. Congrats!!!! There's nothing like being heavily pregnant in July & August :crazy2:
She doesn't want me passing on any information about her boys
I think you daughter is a smart lady.
I have a green goddess dip, a Tzatiki dip, and a sour cream/onion soup mix dip. We have chips and salsa;
ugh. I'm having a dip conundrum.....see, it was just going to be the two of us. I have, shall we say, a history of making WAY to much so I worked hard to pare it down. Just wings, fresh pico and chips & queso. Then #1 told us they'd probably be coming over later today- which is just fine w/ us the more the merrier - but now I'm thinking "should I have made onion dip? I think I have sour cream & onion soup mix...should I make onion rings? Should I make potato skins????" I had to rein myself in!!! ha ha, husband took two racks of ribs out to smoke and I made the rest of the cookie dough leftover from Christmas in the freezer. No one will starve, but I can't swear I won't go take a stroll thru the pantry and fridge to see if I have anything else to make!
DH's sister is now on hospice. We're hoping to go see her next weekend.
Oh I'm sorry to hear that, I hope for her and her family peaceful days during this time.

I've seen you post this before, and I'm curious - what do your beauty routines consist of? I've done a hair mask in the past, and a foot peel or face mask, but I don't do them regularly. I should add something to my week on a daily basis....right now the only beauty routine I have is hoping the spa at my hotel still has availability if I decide to get a massage or facial next week!
Speak of - has anyone ever been to Nemacolin Woods in PA? I've always wanted to go, but haven't do so yet. My sons girlfriend just got back from a work conference up there and she was RAVING about it.

Same here, and it's making for a cozy morning & afternoon. I thought we were only supposed to get a bit this morning, but I'm enjoying it.
fire in the fireplace
We've got our woodstove going in the basement, it's toasty down there! The dog has drug his dog bed in front of it and is soaking up all the heat-

Well I can't pretend I care that much about football, but I enjoy the hoopla and the commercials, so I'll watch until at least halftime if not longer tonight. The halftime shows usually are something I find lackluster, but I'll watch it this year. I'm not really a big fan of rap or hip hop but several of the artists are from my childhood and I like that they've got partly older crowd performing. And - just my personal opinion - anything is better than country or pop these days - so I'm glad for anything but that!:duck:. Neither the boys nor my husband's team made it, but I think they are rooting for the Bengals, I gather they are the underdogs.

House, kitchen, bedroom & bathrooms straightened up. Basement is as well. I do have a basket of laundry to fold, I should get to that -

I love that the Sunday school kids handed out Valentine's after church, carol, what a sweet idea! Wow, go you for making your own pizza dough! That does sound like a treat at the end of a cozy afternoon :)

Easyas, you will definitely have something to eat for everyone! Glad you're enjoying a quieter and at-home day, too.

Quiet Sunday here, too. Will check back later :)

I either put Noxema or a mud mask on my face. I put a hair mask on my hair once a month. Otherwise I just wash and condition it. I take off nail polish before getting in the tub to soak,,and afterwards I do my cuticles. After my nails are dry I put polish on. I shave, soak and just relax in a tubfull of hot water...sometimes I put the portable jet spa thing in, but only once in awhile. Then I pat dry lightly, put on either bath and body spray or bath and body lotions. Let my hair air dry and then get into comfy pjs. I don't know what else to call it except my beauty routine,,lol. I have never had a massage, but would love to one of these days..

Not me

We have sunshine, it's 32 and all of the snow from this morning is gone

I haven't seen a decent half time show in a long time,,and I do not plan on watching this year either. Do not care for hip hop or any of the artists that are performing. I happen to love country, and can tolerate pop, lol. And from all I hear, yes the Bengals are considered underdogs,,which is why I am rooting for them!

Just finished watching the Ice Dancing program from the other nite, finals are tonite, either on USA at 8:15 and then on NBC after the superbowl. Hubby is watching the pregame stuff,,,just the game itself will be more than enough for me.

The ribs just went in the oven for a low and slow cook. Will put the baked potatoes in when the ribs are about half done. Coleslaw was made this morning as well as a small pan of brownies. Half of them frosted with chocolate frosting for Mr L..half plain for me. I don't like frosting on my brownies, lol

Have a nice nite,,stay warm!

I don't like frosting on my brownies, lol

Me either!

If you haven't had a massage, I highly recommend one!

Welp - we finally pulled the trigger and moved our cruise. We were supposed to leave on March 30th, but we decided to go go back to our original plan (the one I changed because I couldn't imagine waiting till December!?!?! yeah...) and go in December.

Off to go do backwards math and figure out the timeline for the wings.
