@Timandalicia, :welcome:

I am spending today watching the countdown of winter movies on the Hallmark Channel. I have seen most of them before. And almost done the puzzle I started yesterday.

Almost finished the book (600 pages) for the reading group at church. My goal today is to finish it. And I put 3 books on hold at the library for after.

Tired of the same old lunch so making egg salad for a change.

I'm finishing up the Christmas ones and moving on to the winter ones

I just put eggs on to cook for exactly the same thing..egg salad
Making a pot of homemade New England clam chowder for dinner--our temp dropped from 42 down to 32 in the last hour,,and the winds have come up.
Just went out to put warm water in the cats bowls and gave them some warmed food for their bellies. Gotta keep the outdoor furbabies warm the best I can !

Afternoon All.

The sun is out but I haven't been outside to see how cold it is. According to my phone mid 40's so not that bad.

I managed to get some work done in the kitchen and I think I have a problem. I found 3 brand new baking pans I never knew I had and springform pans. At least 3 cookie presses, a crock pot ceramic pot that doesn't fit either of my crock pots. Yes I have 2 because my husband had to have the Penn State one. Why I'll never know as he doesn't cook. I think the oddest find though was Hershey Kisses from 2011. I hid them and did so well I forgot about them.. LOL I inherited the need to over buy from my dad. I am terrified of the prospect of having to clean out my parents house one day. My dad cleaned out his "room" and found over $2,000 he didn't know about. We could find money but it may take forever to clean that house out. I told my mom they just have to live forever.

I have run out of boxes and places to put things, the bad part of a renovation. My next door neighbors listed their house for sale and I know they did work on the kitchen so I went to the open house. The one wall I wanted to try and take out is a load bearing wall. The neighbor put up stained beams but I don't like the look so I'll keep my wall with the cut out that was there when we bought the house many years ago. In the end I know this will look great just having a hard time getting there at the moment.

Well I am off to find boxes and a stud finder. My grandson needs one for something to do with the work in the kitchen.

Have a great afternoon.

My wife and I went to Paris for our first anniversary 17 years ago and met a couple there and spent the day and night with them running around the city. They were students at Julliard at the time. We kept in touch with them this whole time and her name is... get ready for this... Erin Krakow. We love watching her stuff on Hallmark and of course I love bragging that she is an acquaintance. I’ll dig up a pic and post it.

is that “The Warmth of Other Suns” book ? i am only on page 112 , but really enjoying it so far. it’s amazing how much History I don’t know. maybe due to the football coaches who taught, well i guess i should say, assigned us sections to read in our history books.

is that “The Warmth of Other Suns” book ?
Yes! It was very readable. I liked the stories of the 3 people. I got bogged down in some of the history. And I hate to say that I was uninformed about "The Great Migration." And some of the history is pretty terrible. It is definitely a worthwhile read, but not a "take me away" read.

No shame in that. I have two different sizes, and do use both.

:rotfl2: I've done that with stuff! (Most recently cookies.)

Wow!

I'll go you one better..we have 3 of them, lol. We have a 5 quart we use for most things..a bigger round one (8 qt I think) for larger chickens..and an oval one hubby insisted I had to buy when he was still working, and had to take things for potluck dinners, office parties etc. That one is downstairs in it's matching case, only used it 3x I think..but it's red, so he likes it, lol!

My big one is rather boring-looking and gets stored on a shelf downstairs until I need it (for things like a whole chicken or large batch of soup, or when DH makes party wings). But my little one lives on the kitchen counter and I use it a lot. It looks like this:

Happy Monday. The hidden Hershey kisses remind me of all the times I buy a treat at the store and then hide it the island in the kitchen. Months later I will find it when I clean out a shelf to make space. At least I am not getting the calories! :)

We saw younger DS's 3 kiddies yesterday. They came over and stayed for supper. Ellie demanded pizza and chicken for supper so we ordered in. She was playing boss at the time, one of her favorite things to do. Luke follows where she goes. Charlotte, the almost 2 year old, ran all over the place laughing and throwing toys. She loves Jasper and will go over and try to hug him and pat him. They have a puppy so she knows to be gentle. I still keep an eye on Jasper as he is old and I want to be sure she is not unknowingly hurting him. He is good with the kids but I don't want to take any chances. DH and I were going back and forth about something he had misremembered but he would not agree that he did. Ellie made sure to tell him that Nana is always right. She's a smart girl! We saw our older DS's boys on Friday when we had to bring some paperwork to DS. We stayed outside until I could not feel my feet any more and then I said it was time to go home. The vaccine can't come soon enough for us. DS said once we have both doses and a month has passed, we can go back to normal visits. Unfortunately the states are not distributing the vaccine very well. Surprise! Let's hope that changes and they can get the people vaccinated. People over 60 in my state are upset that it is so slow to roll out. I am in that group and I agree with them. There is supposedly a time line in which I should be getting it in late Feb or early March. I hope that happens.

It is a partly cloudy blustery day here about 37. We walked the dog but I did walk aerobics in the house later instead of another walk.

I am afraid to clean out my pan cabinets. I am sure I have so many multiples and hidden pans. Maybe I can put that down as a retirement project.

Happy Monday all....I'm finally putting my Christmas stuff away. LOL I think I've been putting it off because I knew I was going to need to organize the bins and get rid of stuff I hardly ever put out anymore. So thats part is done now I just need to finished putting everything back out into the garage. Oh and hubby still needs to do the outside lights but I don't have to do that so I'm done. Yay. LOL Next year, I think I need some more smaller bins to organize inside the big ones. And after all the organizing....I feel like I might need more decorations for next year....:sad2::laughing:

I've been pretty down lately so still reading or at least skimming but not replying much...sorry about that. My mom isn't feeling well(not Covid related) and that makes my dad miserable...then I take it all in and feel helpless but there really isn't much I can do to help besides what I'm already doing. She has an appt Wed so hopefully they can get some answers and she can get some relief with her ailments.

I've been having lots of fun video chats with my niece so that's helped....lol She's a nut...she makes me play school with her, kinda like her zoom kindergarten right now...

Counting down to my last day of work and already making a list of everything I want to work on throughout the house. Honesty its a disaster and its been this way for awhile so hopefully I can whip it into shape once I'm done with work.

Another thing that has me down is I wanna go somewhere....I don't even care where I just want to go somewhere beside home. LOL I just posted on FB...even this homebody wants to go somewhere. This time last year we were in Cancun and I wish I was there again.

DD started Hello Fresh for us...she's buying, I'm cooking....lol Its nice to not have to shop for the main meal groceries but I'm a simple cook and some of these meals require a lot of work, well to me anyway. LOL She's doing 4 meals a week and I think she's going to go down to 3, 2 maybe and I'll just fill in the days with my good old trusty meals we all like.

Hope everyone has a great evening....I feel a little better getting Christmas put away so maybe I'll be back later to reply to some stuff I've missed. Thanks for being my calming place to come read and chill a little. :grouphug:

Continuing the trip to Disneyland in 1987 trip.
Sunday morning we got up and after having breakfast at the apartment we headed to see The Queen Mary and Spruce Goose which all 3 of us kids decided never again though I did find it the most interesting I was upset that you could not actually try a typical room for each catagory. I don't remember where we got lunch before we headed over in the afternoon to Universal Studios to take the tram tour. I found this interesting but was upset because I was wanting to be a professinal actress when I grew up at that age and thought this would be my chance to be discovered when I learned that they would have audience participation at various spots. I never got chosen but my brother did so needless to say I was mad and sulking about that. Dinner that night we went to one of my dad's aunt and uncle's house. Let me say that aunt was way different than his aunts who lived in South Dakota and we had gone to see 1-2 times a year for as long as I could remember. Those aunts were warm and friendly with houses where kids could be kids and no one worried if there were fingerprints on the end table. This aunt was get out the pledge the minute a hand even came close to touching an end table or a coffee table. Seriously there is a family story that when my dad's oldest sister went visiting with her family when her son was about a year and a half this aunt followed along behind her toddler great nephew fluffing the carpet from his pulling a little bumble bee on wheels. None of us recall what we had for dinner except for the peas which had so much pepper on them we all asked our mom if those were black eyed peas. Dad's aunt did not believe in sprinkle a little pepper to season no she believed in open up the pour spout and be liberal. Dad's uncle was cool though he even took us all out for a drive to see the lights around Long Beach and stopped so we could run on the beach a little bit. Since it was night it was too cold to go in the water even for us Montana kids. I was originally going to include at least Monday here but since somehow my laptop has gotten the strikeover keys set and I have no idea how to turn them off in the middle of a post so I am going to end this one here.

We did Hello Fresh once, on a coupon, a while ago. It was nice to not have to menu plan or shop for the stuff, lol. This week, we are trying EveryPlate, which touts itself to be HF but cheaper. We'll have to see the quality on them, but it was definitely less...with the coupon, for 5 meals for 4 people, I paid about $41. The recipes are very similar (I went through and compared 3 of them).

That is so cute, PollyannaMom! ::MickeyMo

Hugs, Snowysmom, so glad you got some grandkid time in!

Hugs to you as well, AuntieMe3. You have been through a lot! :( Hooray for your niece! When I was a kid I liked to play school, too. I also would seat my playmobil kids into a styrofoam egg carton classroom.

Sweetpeama, I admit to not having any clear memory of either visiting the Queen Mary or Spruce Goose but don't think they did much for me either!

B&B and AuntieMe3, I hope both of your meal deliveries are both helpful and tasty :)
