Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I would say the older I get, the harder it is for me to remember details. I write a lot of things down, including special memories, I have a large number of “diaries“ from when our kids were young. I also find photos help enormously. We have many photos scanned in and my sister has all the photos that were mom’s and shares whichever ones come up randomly on her iPad each day. Since mom hasn’t been allowed visitors since before New Year’s we look at the photos and comment with Mom. The process is keeping her memory from completely fading, but sadly her memory has taken a real hit in the last 10 months.

You do have a great memory, Sweetpeama, prayers you get some rest!

Easyas123, your boys do have close together birthdays! Maybe the closest immediate family birthday (as in day) to me would have been my dog Champ. He was born on the 10th and I was born on the 12th (not in the same month though).

Hugs, Snappy, I'm so sorry :( I tried creating simple photo books for my Grandma many years ago. She did smile at the pictures which, of course, made me happy. Looking back, perhaps I could have tried (in big clear letters) writing under a picture of Champ (my dog) "Champ at 2 years old" Very simple. I love that you took care to keep kid diaries that is so cool.

Hey everyone! I haven't read through all the posts since my last visit but have enjoyed looking at the pictures.

We went to Broken Bow, Oklahoma over the weekend. The cabin we stayed in was so nice and had a lovely view off the front porch. DS and fiance, DD and Lou Lou joined us. We took Lou Lou to ride the train and ponies while the other three went on a trail ride. We had a campfire and roasted marshmellows, stayed up until almost midnight playing Phase 10. We also took Lou Lou to a petting zoo that had a mining company next to it. She found gemstones in her dirt and played on a pirate ship where she slid down a slide and busted her cheek pretty good at the bottom. We walked along the river and DH and I barely made it back up to the road. Boy, did my knees ache later in the day. We cooked in some and ate out a couple of times. Had some very good fried catfish. Most people did not wear masks there nor were they interested in social distancing. I was surprised because the majority of those there were probably tourists from Texas like us.

Early about 1:30 am Sunday morning I received a call from the facility my mom is in to let me know that she had passed away. I had only been in bed for an hour when I received the call and could not sleep the rest of the night. We went ahead and stayed in Oklahoma until yesterday like we originally planned because there was nothing that could be done. She had all her funeral arrangements in place. My sister and I have an appointment with the funeral home on Thursday afternoon. We're going to have a graveside service, we just can't see ourselves in a room full of people at this point. We're not going to have a family meal either.

MUCH lighter and completely different note, I watched the last half hour of Follow Me to Daisy Hills on Hallmark. I don't know about the first hour and a half but the last part was very sweet. It's about a general store that has been in a family forever. The Dad is ready to retire. The oldest daughter is excited to take over the store for him. Her younger sister at first feels obligated to stay to help. She realizes at the end that her passion is for writing so she accepts admission into a writing program at a college. The boyfriend of the older sister was handsome--Marshall Williams which was a bonus lol.

Have a good night everyone. God Bless each of you always!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother's passing. Big hug for you. Glad that you had your family with you and that your mom was wise enough to make her arrangements ahead of time. That is a burden you won't have to bear. Praying for strength and comfort for you.

Good morning QUACK'ers! Why is there a light coating of white stuff on the ground here, and big fat snowflakes falling? It wasn't supposed to snow, and it better not accumulate. Hubby was up and down again all nite, which means I got little to no sleep, which means I need a nap already.

Stepson, partner, and 2 of the 3 granddaughters ,are on vacation in New Orleans this week. They went on a Cajun Tour yesterday , and they saw a ton of alligators/crocodiles (not sure which there are down there, maybe both)--NOT something I would want to see on a vacation, lol. They are enjoying beignets, po boys, and all kinds of other goodies, now that part I would enjoy!

There won't be much on tv today except coverage of the Inauguration, so I may not even turn the tv on!

Have a great day everyone,,do something fun!

Good morning.

@Kirby, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. My MIL passed this past August. We did have a small, socially distanced and masked, indoor service with only her children and grandchildren invited. (Still had an uninvited by the family distant relative attend, you made the right choice.)

There won't be much on tv today except coverage of the Inauguration, so I may not
We will be glued to the tv today. Planned no out of the house activities so we can watch. (Not even grocery pick up.)

Only goal for today is to submit an online order for grocery pick up tomorrow.

Kirby. - prayers for your family
lynxstch - i love hearts and rainbows, i had a border painted on my wall as a kid
the last phrase “ do something fun”, my coworker is bringing in Heavenly Ham, a local franchise store that puts a honey crispy coating on the edge of the ham slices, to share at lunch today. I was trying to think of an easy side dish, since I didn’t have time to cook up scalloped potatoes to share. I had a jar of fried apples from Cracker Barrel in the pantry, so I grabbed my little crockpot and plan to warm it up to share at lunch. Fun fun.

I will try to catch inauguration bits & pieces throughout the day when I can.

Measured the office open areas to see how many people we could theoretically get in here in 6' squares in masks for a potential HOA meeting and sent that over to the HOA folks in case they want to have a meeting this year. Admittedly I don't know what the current regulations are for how many folks can meet together...but that isn't my problem, the HOA brass can figure that out and figure out it they want to do it or not.

I need to run up to Lowes later this morning, that should be the pinnacle of my days excitement.
