QOTD; HAPPY DISNEY MEMORIES ( asked several pages back)

ohh
too many to count. We went in 2005 for our honeymoon. Each having visited only once as a kid. Then waited till 2010 to take our own kids. Then have been going every year since 2010, mostly in November , but two trips in may/June.

my favorite flashbacks are the events that happened late at night. The dark, the lights around magic kingdom at WDW just make it magical. On our first trip, our 4 year old fell asleep in the stroller after dinner. We debated going back to the room. I’m so glad we didn’t . Instead, we took the 2.5 year old on Buzz light year again. Umm about 12 times !! My hubbie would take him 2 times while i sat and people watched with the other in the stroller , then we would trade off and I would ride with him. The huge smile on his face when he would see Buzz and the laughing at shooting at the targets, still brings me a happy thought.

my best advice when going with little kids, is to just go with the flow, if you don’t make it to Peter Pan, it’s ok if they are enjoying another ride. Sure enough, 2 nights later the little guy fell asleep in the stroller and the 4 year old stayed awake after 9pm. We enjoyed riding Goofy’s rollercoaster over and over and over again that evening,

Good morning all-

Sunny but blustery here, admittedly I have no idea what the temp is so we'll go with 'cold' , if I recall the weather report from earlier, it will be cloudy this afternoon. Looks like a chance of snow towards mid or end of week. I'd enjoy a bit of snow at least once this winter.

With nothing much else to do, I re watched Bet Exotic Marigold Hotel yesterday afternoon- still a good movie. Now I'm going to have to hunt up the second one and re-watch it!

No plans for the day except for football of course. And all of my chores are done

Evidently it's a big day here for sports! Man United, Penguins & Chiefs all play today, and those are the three big teams in our house. As for chores, I have to fold Mount Laundry (what I call it when the clothes pile up out of the dryer in a basket or two!!!).

our Gus would get up

Good luck with him, hope it was a one time thing We had that with one our our pups a few weeks ago. Not sure what the issue was, he was fine, thankfully...guess he just was having a restless night.

In 2018, we went with my inlaws, sister in law and her fiancé. We went to magic kingdom 3 times that trip. On the second night, when the fireworks were starting we suggested going on Big Thunder mountain. We quickly got in line, all 8 of us and were boarding within 15 mins. As we went up the big hill, the fireworks were going off. My future brother in law , thought this was so amazing and thanked us again and again during the trip for the cool rollercoaster ride with fireworks,

Good Sunday morning to all! Not much going on today, probably working outside in the yard and watching football this afternoon, supposed to be a high of 66 degrees. I also need to go grocery shopping, but dreading it. I need to come up with some meal ideas, I'm stuck in a rut. I have tons of cookbooks that I pore over on a regular basis, nothing looks good.

Big news is my husband is now employed again, started his new job about a month ago. He seems to like it well enough but it's a definite change for him. The commute time is around 20 minutes so not too bad. He's worked from home with his old company for the last 15 years, so hasn't been into an actual office in a very long time. It's very strange not having him at home during the day-my younger son still lives here and works from home since Covid. So he was out of work for approx 3 months, not too bad, could've been worse. I'm so glad unemployment money came through as messed up as it is.

More tales of woe on the cooking front- I didn't forget something this time, but had a horrible reaction to an ingredient. I saw a cool recipe online for a greek mezze bowl meal prep idea. I spent a few hours putting it together, making turkey meatballs with feta and spinach, add grape tomatoes and cucumber with side of quinoa, split evenly among four prep trays, easy lunch. I sat down and had the first one friday afternoon-about 45 minutes later starting experiencing severe stomach cramps. Uh oh, what can it be? I made sure turkey meatballs were cooked thoroughly, took the temperature of each one, lol. I decided to google quinoa stomach trouble or something to that effect-bingo! Lots of info online about having severe reactions to quinoa. I mean without going into details- I was having severe gastro intestinal upset-my stomach was not happy. At one point I thought I just needed to force myself to throw up to end the torture. I managed to power through the pain, spent most of the day and evening in bed with the tv on for background noise. I threw out the bag of quinoa, I'm going to salvage the meals and sub in basmati rice. From what I've gathered, it might be the high fiber content my stomach can't handle or the saponins(bitter coating of the seeds). I did not rinse the quinoa before I cooked it, never said anything about that on the package. So I can cross that off my list of foods and wheat berries as well- had the same reaction. Oh well, live and learn as they say.

I hope everyone has a good weekend- stay well out there!

Good morning.

I have a list of chores that each take about 15 minutes but if I don't make a list, I get distracted and forget. Watched church then started on the list. We are trying to work on getting together a load of stuff for Green Drop (Purple Heart and AMVETS) to pick up. I did my share.

Hubby was up late last nite watching the Ravens game--sorry for those of you who are fans.
It did free up some Sundays, but will still watch the Super Bowl but just won't care.

Cold and windy so unlikely to take a hike today. I can stand the cold but not a cold wind.

Better get back to my list.

Good Morning 🐥

It's a little cooler here, still nice and sunny. I was actually hot last night for the first time in ages. That still was a Blessed switch from being freezing. Took me a little longer to fall asleep. I did rest well, though.

Thank you, Lynn on the printer and ink.

Feel better, Shelley!

We have a wind warning here too! Stay safe everyone! I do remember as a kid loving to watch Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day! I have never liked being outside in the wind!

Thank you all again for sharing your Disney memories :) Happy Sunday.

I have only had 3 trips to a Disney Park in my life 2 to Disneyland and 1 to WDW.

First trip was 1 day at Disneyland on December 23, 1987. I was 14 years old and a freshman in high school. This was part of a Christmas break trip that year. I got out of school at 3 PM on Friday the 18th for the start of break and got home off the bus slightly after 4:20 because I was one of the first ones on and one of the last ones off. We couldn't have had the kids from the subdivisions having to be on the bus any longer than necessary now could we so even though they could have ran the route the same way in the morning and the afternoon so it was equal time on the bus for everyone those of us who were farm and ranch kids were first on and last off. My brother and sister who were in 11 and 12 and in 6th and 7th grade were already home from school even though they did not get out until 3:30. We lived close enough that they would ride their bikes to and from school if the weather was nice, walk home on days that it was not nice in the morning, or either get a ride by our parents, a neighbor who was driving the bad weather car pool, or if nothing else our Opa would drive down and pick them up and take them home. Admittedly I quite often would get off the bus at the stop closest to Opa's house go and visit with him for a bit before having him take me home instead of riding on the bus for another 8.5 miles of a 15 mile bus trip. Some days I would try but the driver would not let me get off because it wasn't my authorized stop or the weather was too bad unless one of my parents vehicles was waiting there or Opa's car was waiting for me. I had figured this out fairly quickly so if the weather was turning nasty would call OPa on the school phone and convience him to meet me at the bus stop with the car.
Anyways back to that trip. My mom was home and getting last minute packing done when I got home so I changed out of my school clothes into my chore clothes and went out with my brother and sister to take care of the livestock. At that time we just had to make sure that the sheep were fed and that they could get into one of the two shelter sheds we had for them. We would not need to start watching for signs of any of the ewe's being ready to lamb for another couple of months. We also had to check that the water wasn't frozen and that the heater coil was in the right position to keep the ice melted and the automatic filler had not gotten knocked out by one of the sheep along with making sure it was working by lifting it up slightly above the normal fill level to see if it ran for a few seconds unless we lucked out and it dropped down below level when we were close enough to see and hear it filling. Sister got to do things like making sure the clean dishes were put away and helping mom pack the cooler for the car. Dad got home from his job as a heavy highway mechanic and went to take a shower and get cleaned up while mom went into town to pick up the pizza order. No delivery where we lived. When my dad got out of the shower and had changed out of his greesy and oily clothes we had pizza on paper plates and then got the station wagon packed.
The plan was my parents would switch off driving and we would drive through the night with one of us kids staying awake with the parent driving to keep them company. Some how that plan got changed to once my sister was asleep she would not be woken so it actually met my brother and I would be taking turns being awake.
We headed west on Interstate 90 till we got to Belgrade and then headed South towards Four Corners where we would pick up US Highway 191 which we would follow till we got to West Yellowstone. We had not stopped since well before Belgrade so by the time we got to West Yellowstone mom and us kids were all needing to use the restroom. Car did not need gas and dad did not need to go, we asked so there was talk of giving my dad a piece of elixar so that he would need to stop for a restroom and we could. Luckily for us he decided to stop and check on what the roads were like before we got onto US Highway 20 which would take us to Idaho Falls where we would get on Interstate 15. Long about St. George everyone was awake and it was at this time my mom realized that she had packed oranges which could not be taken into California. Everytime us kids said I am hungry it was have an orange. If we said I am thirsty it was have an orange. I am not sure but if we asked if a certain cassette would be played the answer was not have an orange. All the way across Southern Nevada. I am not sure which roads we took once we were in California. We went to my cousin's college apartment in Santa Ana where us kids would sleep in the living room and my parents would use his bedroom. His roommates' room was locked but we had not planned on using their room anyway. My cousin was there to meet us and make sure my parents had a key to the apartment. He was going to be heading back to our town for Christmas break-this cousin is one of my mom's oldest brother's kids. After traveling for almost 23 hours we were all tired so we had dinner at the apartment with the groceries cousin went and got with the money my mom had sent him by mailing him a check. We would stay at cousin's apartment for the next 5 nights. I am going to break this up so more later this week on how the trip went.

Good morning all. Above freezing this morning,,35 going to a high of 38. Sister in Law is driving to Morgantown WV and she just sent me pics of the heavy snow squalls they are driving through. Nothing here at all, whew! Uh oh..Buccaneers won last nite,,that means my Tommy will be playing against Hubby's Aaron next week, should make for an interesting game in this house, lol! No plans for the day that I know of. No mail delivery, banks are closed, MLK Day,,I call it one of those 'half a holidays', where somethings are closed, most are open. Have a nice morning,,hope this is a good week for everyone! Edited to add. Sister in Law just called. They made it almost to Morgantown and had to turn around and head back home (another 1 1/2 hours) It was so bad there, that cars were sliding off the road into ditches, there were at least 2 accidents, and they themselves couldn't even make it up the next hill. They are slowly making their way back home and will reschedule their appts. And we have sunshine here, not one snowflake!

Good morning all!

Thanks for the heads up on the mail, I had forgotten about that.....with no kids in school and working all but the major holidays, I sometimes forget about the others- they just aren't on my radar.

We've come up with a plan to reconfigure the office (as alluded to in my previous post re: bathrooms), and I'm going to be moving to a office upstairs w/ both my brothers while my husband is going to one of the other currently empty offices and our 2 office suite is being remodeled into the accounts dept. So I think today I'll go up there and see what is what, and start planning my move.

I made it a point to think ahead and plan out a few dinner this week, pre made some turkey chili for tonight, ordered some fresh fish from seafood market for tomorrow night, and I'm committed to taking something out of the freezer for Wednesday night! haha, well it's a start at least!

Hi All!

Like everyone else we are stuck in and doing our best. I wanted somewhere that is just for fun talk. It can be recipes we are making, things we are watching/reading, or family driving us crazy. I'm also happy to post a thought question every so often to keep conversation flowing. Feel free to share whatever but PLEASE keep this fun, easy and kind. Agree or not we are in it now.

So about me: I'm Tina and married to my darling Matt. I joined the DIS years and years ago when I was planning my first trip on a delayed honeymoon while my husband was doing his first deployment. It is just us at home and two plants named Herman and Sister. Yeah, we are weird people. I made shredded beef sandwiches in the crockpot last night with asparagus and sweet potato fries. Tonight is quiche and green beans.
We started AJ and the Queen on Netflix last night. I don't have the attention span for binge watching and tend to jump around on shows. I'm currently reading a mystery by Kay Hooper.

I hope some of you join for place of just kindness and sharing respite from all going on. In the end we are in this together.

Tina
What a great thread. Have you watched the making of Frozen 2 on Disney+? It’s a great limited series to pass the time. Thank your husband for me for his service.
