@easyas123 Congrats to your kids. That is awesome that they won enough that your eldest will have it for settlement costs!!!
Beautiful day here, a little warmer than they said it would be, at 84, but nice breeze. I would settle for this kind of day all year long! Stepson came over and I made us all a big breakfast , since we are still wary of going inside a restaurant to eat. Then he went to do his fantasy football thing. We just finished having ribs for dinner, with baked potato, fresh tomatoes and will have cake for dessert. Stepson drove their old car up here to visit, as he's selling it to his sister for her son. His partner is driving up early tomorrow morning to bring him home, she has the day off thankfully so she can do it. They will stop here on their way out of town to say goodbye and try to beat the OC traffic back to Salisbury. Have a lovely evening everyone!

@Meriweather Good luck with your house guests. I know how hard it is to share your space even for just a short time.

This song has been in my head for a couple of weeks. DS loves Coco and had it on last weekend.

I LOVE Coco. 😍 Bawled my eyes out in the theater when we went to see it. And the meal you daughter made looks really good.

Hooray for puzzles and relaxing days, too. I hope all of you are having a good afternoon. It was 97 at only 9:30 this morning. 108 now! I know that is "cold" to friends in another part of the city where it's 10 degrees hotter, eek. I pray it cools off soon.
We have the same exact temps today. Its so gross. Smoke from one of the fires is going directly over our house so the sky is all orange and there's ash all over. Yuck. Looking forward to the lower temps later this week.

@Bianca and Bernard What fun gifts! I've been waiting to try on of those diamond things.

You guys - can I brag a bit??? My kids won a fishing tournament today. They won so much that after splitting it the eldest has almost enough for settlement costs for future home and is just so much closer to that goal!
Almost :yay:

I'm so tickled for them both!! Happy Dance, Happy Dance!!!
Congratulations to your kids for winning.

Like I said above....its so stinking hot, it feels like you're opening the oven when you open the door. We tried to sit outside on the patio last night and it was still so yucky, I didn't stay out there very long. We were supposed to go to Costco this evening before they close but I'm not sure I really want to go out in the heat. Really looking forward to the cooler temps that are supposed to come this week. I am sooo over summer and the heat.

That's wonderful!!!!!

Just bought my first Christmas present. It's Pete the Pickup game for Lil Joe. I think Lou Lou will be able to play it too. Looks like fun!

Hello Friends, I have been absent for a few weeks. Just life as usual. We did get spontaneous yesterday and did a drive (about an hour away) to the Oregon Gorge. We visited Multnomah Falls and The Vista House at Crown Point. I have tried to load some photos. It was a gorgeous day, in the mid-seventies. And very little wind, which is unusual in the Gorge. That is me in red, with DD 11 in the mask. She decided she wanted all her hair cut off a few weeks ago, so had it chopped. It is longer on top, but real short around. Had about 10 inches cut, and loves it. Makes me think we should have done it at the beginning of summer, so it was off for all the heat. And the building in the distance is the Vista House. It is interesting how they had us make reservations for Multnomah falls, and the hiking trail is closed. They have closed most the hiking trails in the gorge as there is no way to keep 6 feet apart when people are using the same trail to go up and down. It is a bummer, because there are some beautiful places to hike up here. Anyway, it was nice to get out of the house, and be relatively safe. Not many people around and most wearing their masks. (Note, I had my mask on when I wasn't taking selfies, lol - and the nearest people were about 12 feet away). Mom came with us, and we had to keep the walks short as she just doesn't have it in her any more to go any type of distance. She had to take several breaks when she got dizzy at Multnomah falls, but it was really good for her to get out of the house. And on the way back home, we ordered food to pick up at Red Robin. Nice to not cook dinner, and it had been a long time since we had Red Robin. DD was thrilled!

Anyway, today we enjoyed a broadcast church meeting. Lovely to worship the lord from home, but still missing the in person. We also had an online talent show over zoom on Friday night, so got to see lots there. It is not the same, but so much better then nothing. I love that we can still stay in contact, even if we can't be in person. DD starts online school next week (9/14), but we should get a call from her teacher this week. It is a major prep week for the teachers to make contact and verify that everyone has access this week. Anyway, DD just stated she is hungry, so off to put dinner on. We are having Poor Boy Sandwiches, potato salad and chips. I was going to make Butter Chicken for the first time, but realized I did not purchase all the ingredients. Really going to have to get those this week as I want to try this new receipt. Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Beautiful country! It reminds me of NH here (taken by DS a few weeks ago).

I'm not much of a decorator but here's my tribute to Fall. Carol made the wreath for me last year. I think its perfect!View attachment 524374View attachment 524376
Love the wreath and decoration.

I can't bring myself to do fall decorating yet.......just too hot to think about it.
Same...not feeling very fall like AT ALL. lol

Beautiful!! I love Oregon. We've never been to Multnomah Falls but I would love to go there sometime.

Definitely too HOT to think about Fall! Love your pictures though, Kirby. The flags/garden stakes are adorable :)

So nice to see you back Heidi! I'm so glad you enjoyed a nice trip. The Gorge is beautiful! I am not sure if I went to Multnomah Falls but I did go to a waterfall.

Pea, your pictures are always lovely.

:( Meriweather, I really do feel so badly for you with all your horrible HEAT.

Stay cool everyone and please have a good evening, too :)

@Caseheidi , love your picture of the falls. My DS and I took a trip to Portland three years ago and Multnomah Falls was on our list but it was closed due to the fires that year.

I can't bring myself to do fall decorating yet.......just too hot to think about it.
If I didn't put it out now, I would probably forget and not remember until November. :rotfl:

@Meriweather, how did you like Mulan? Carol and I watched it tonight. We both miss the music of the animated version but thought it was a good story.

Really liked the movie. There was some music in it that DD would sing to :) Didn't really miss the songs. It was not a musical kind of movie. We did love that Ming-Na Wen was in it. The adult girls got really excited seeing her . DD and DGD have met her and have their picture with her

Glad you all enjoyed the movie, Meriweather :)

So HOT last night. Thank God I did get some rest. Really hoping it is cooler today even a little.

For some reason today, right now, maybe because of all the heat, truly feels timeless. At the same time, as odd as this may sound, it also seems later this early morning than it is.

I know some of your kids and grandkids start back with school tomorrow. I know some out here who are. Prayers so much that goes well! Thinking of you, apirateslifeforme!
