Hi all!! I've enjoyed reading and catching up on everyone and reading about small side show or attractions or as my husband calls them
"Tina distractions" LOL Back in the day we would be moving duty stations and if I wasn't in the lead, he would "lose" me because I'd be distracted and drive off to see the picture place, find the mall, go bathroom or whatever else. This was all pre cellphone days. He learned quickly I had to be in front as I'm easily entertained and easily bored when driving.

My classes started back up. I've never done so much math and created so many pivot tables and scatter graphs and find covariance things ever. I hope this is quick 8 weeks! It is keeping me distracted and engaged which is what I need right now. I had fasting blood draw panel this morning and will have a follow up visit next week for next steps and then new scans scheduled middle of the month. Still waiting to hear if mom's nursing home is going to open for limited visits but trying to be patient.

Matt got big kudos from his new job and received a $50 gift card for grub hub, which is pretty neat. There was never any money in the Army (I mean monetary rewards) and certainly no such things in rewards in my job of feelings. It's absolutely beautiful out here in Indiana this weekend. I read that we are going to have lower than average temperatures for SEPT which doesn't make me that happy. I really have winter PTSD. As I tell my husband and in laws, I feel God must have been a Southern person and that why he the north is frozen tundra for so many months of the year LOL.. where do you think we get "Bless your heart" HEHEHEHE

I'm going to give in and start turning over my spring/summer decorations for fall stuff in the next week or so. I guess I'll be able to really enjoy it and then I'll move on to mixture Thanksgiving and going into Chrstimas. I also have to put up football stuff with season starting next weekend. Our Colts flags and gnomes and whatever else. Our man loft upstairs is all blue and white stuff but apparently it has to spill out :)

I can't believe we are at almost 6 months of this. I'm very grateful to such kind. fun supportive group of people. Thank you

Enjoying the fall pictures, especially the food. I love extra toasty cheez-its. I get them once a year when we travel to North Conway in the Fall. It is my vacation snack.

It is a bit warmer today, low 80's but at least not 113. That is way too hot!

@flyingdumbo127 It is so important to have a comfortable and ergonomic desk chair. I hope it works for you with the chair you like.

@apirateslifeforme Glad to hear that Josh is ready for school. It sounds like he has everything under control and you do too! It is hard when they go off to school but the kids love it and do well. It does take time for mom and dad to get used to it.

We will be going out to dinner at one of our usual places. They are very safe and really good food. It has been a long week and looking forward to a little down time.

Happy long weekend for everyone.

PollyannaMom, the chalkyourwalk sounds lovely. I will Google :)

Tasty treats, Pea!

Meriweather, I have heard in other parts of LA this weekend the temperature will be 117! I guess 105+ will be cold :P

Always good to hear from you, Tina! I admit you lost me with your math terms! Proud of you and know you will do just great. Much congratulations to Matt!

Thank you so much, Snowysmom. Dad will be calling Office Depot in the morning to hopefully learn they did receive a shipment of the chairs. It might be $70 more on Sunday! (New weekly ad. Do any of you get a weekend paper early with an Office Depot ad in it? If so, could you please let me know if it does show the chair I posted about yesterday. Thank you)

Friday extra gratitude:

Once again and always, all of you, my Dis family :grouphug:
The wonderful news, praise God, that an elderly friend is back at her Assisted Living place following a hospital stay yesterday.
A/C!

Ahhhh a nice long weekend is almost here.
Husband is up in Western part of state helping out on his Uncles farm after spending the morning at Ft. Meade, getting ready for hunting season and I suspect about to enjoy a cool evening and a few beers with his cousin as they catch upon the porch. Good - he works hard and has been super busy so I think he is due this 36 hours of hanging out with his uncle & cousin and being fed by his aunt, who is a unbelievable cook of homemade comfort food. I on the other hand plan on getting some time in on the big tractor this evening, and will finish up yard mowing with one of the boys tomorrow.
Supposed to be cooler and low humidity this weekend so first thing in the morning I'm opening up the whole house and air it all out. I can't wait - I'm convinced it smells like wet dogs in there :crazy2: ha ha. Husband should be home Sunday morning, Sunday afternoon or early evening we will finally get around to burning the big pile that has been growing for months. Might need to break out the s'mores supplies I got in May but haven't cracked open yet.
Might sneak off to one of the nurseries to replace one dead shrub and pick up some mulch, we will see. Technically I don't need to leave the house all weekend, but I may be bored before Tuesday morning gets here.
Spent the entire morning on the road down to the beach area of our state and back (work) and was pleasantly surprised I didn't run into much traffic, although by the time I was headed back it was starting to build. Luckily they were headed South & I was headed North.
Dinner this evening & tomorrow evening is a great big ? right now. I suspect I may just scramble some eggs and call it done. Sunday I think we are having turkey burgers, Monday - maybe crabs? Otherwise I'll need to think of something. Next Sunday will be our nieces b'day celebration at our place - her b'day is actually in 2 days, but her grandmother has some autoimmune issues and we don't want to bring our germs over in this scary day & age so we will just celebrate with her next weekend.
Talked to my 4th pool contractor today- I can't get anyone to call me back. Not even a "hey, we are super busy-can I put you on a list and call you in 4 months when we come up for air?" call back. Just simply can not get a salesperson to call us back or respond to emails. Hope this 4th one works out. I understand they are busy, but I wish they wouldn't say they will call you back if they have no intention of doing so. Oh well - bigger problems to have I suppose.
I hope everyone has a nice, wonderful, safe, relaxing, fun and productive Labor Day Weekend.

I hear you on people not getting back to you, Easyas123. I'm in a similar predicament with some texts and even an email all from people who said they would get back to me. Definitely small stuff just annoying, hugs! Have a good weekend, my friend :)

It appears that there is an issue with the iPads...none of the kindergarteners' accounts populated correctly, so we can't finish the setup. Thankfully they are aware of it and offered us a work-around, so after our Zoom orientation meeting this morning, we were able to use Teams on the computer to "meet" the teacher and see Josh's other classmates. She did a quick run-through of their schedule and I will not be able to leave the house on Wednesday through Friday - they won't be online all day, but he'll have to be online for a lesson about once every hour. I also won't be able to have my doctor's appointments, as my doctor only works on Wednesdays. Unless I can get an appointment the day before Thanksgiving...

And right after all the meetings, as we were getting ready to run some errands, Josh discovered that his "new" (to him) bike has been set up with training wheels, the seat lowered, etc. and he wanted to ride it right away. My mom drove by a house last week where a man was setting out bikes for sale - we have seen them often at this house for years upon years; we think he takes them, fixes them up, and resells them. This one happened to be the right size, good tires and seat, and he was only asking $15 for it, so Mom took it. I don't want to say I'm feeling sad or down, but it's so bittersweet right now - kindergarten orientation AND riding a big-boy bike all in the same day. He's growing up WAY too fast.

Have to share this funny one...as we were on the road doing our errands, Josh saw this and said, "Mom, we must be in Paris, 'cause there's the Awful Tower..." :rotfl:Well, at least he's learning SOME geography!

We finally stopped at that nice plant nursery that I mentioned a few weeks ago, that had their mums and pumpkins out already. Their inventory is actually much lower than what it was when I first saw it!

Has anyone here ever had a "honeynut" squash? These looked interesting...

Thank you for starting the thread! I personally would be going stir-crazy without a great group of people to talk to!

I said something to my hairdresser a few nights ago about not being sure about what to do for Christmas...she said, "Oh, please don't tell me we're still going to be doing this at Christmas!" I said, "Well...6 months ago, did you think we'd still be doing it now?" :(

DH and I had Friday happy hour, a drink each and cheese and crackers. Having trouble getting motivated to fix dinner.

We sold our third car at Carmax today. Got 2-3 times more than expected, so that was good. I highly recommend Carmax. Now back to a 2 car family.

we will finally get around to burning the big pile that has been growing for months. Might need to break out the s'mores supplies I got in May but haven't cracked open yet.
We have sticks to burn and S'mores supplies too.

Very nice pictures apirates! :thumbsup2

I am grateful for this thread, too. Some of the Covid threads were too much.:crutches:

Love the kitty, @gwynne!:cat:

Also liked the chalk drawing, @PollyannaMom will have to check that out on IG!:P

Lol, to the "Awful Tower," apirateslifeforme, so funny! Great pictures, too. I am so glad Josh got to see his teacher and classmates virtually. Originally, I thought, we'd be done with this by Easter. Then I thought maybe by Summer. Now, I am honestly not sure :( I pray big-time early 2021 sees us even slowly returning closer to normal but much kinder times!

So glad you got a very good deal at Carmax, Carol!

Gwynne, thanks for the cute kitten picture. I admit to being 100% dog person! I'm glad this cat has a happy home!

Have a good evening all!

I had another fun photo outing today. Nice to have some time off. This is a special time of year for us - our birthdays are fast approaching, and we have a small getaway coming up that we are really looking forward to. DH, me and my mother all had birthdays within four days of eachother. We always ate a lot of cake that week! This will be the first one she’s not here for. 🤧 But she will certainly be with us in spirit. Last week I was taking a series of pictures and one was a blur. I went to delete it, and guess what I saw? Or should I say who? 😳 Yup, pretty uncanny! My sister said “You must be sleeping with one eye open!” :lmao: but I’m not. If anything, it was comforting. This is at least the third time that something strange has come out in my photos, but really, it makes sense for me, as that is where one would get my attention! I think the timing was right, too.

Happy upcoming Birthday, Pea. I'm glad you have a fun trip to look forward to and have fun memories of your mom there as well. I am glad you have something to look forward too. Such beautiful photos! I really like the peacefulness of the hillside picture. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you. I’m glad you like the pics!

Yes, they were good! The lady at the farm stand told me to just roast them the same way you would an acorn squash, and I liked how they came out.

You can stuff them if you like, but be forewarned they don’t hold as much as an acorn, because only one end has seeds to scoop out.

Good morning and welcome to Labor Day Weekend 2020 Dis Family! It was a chilly 55 outside this morning, warming up nicely to 78-80 for the 3 day holiday. We are off to Walmart and Aldi's very shortly. Since we are now Stage 3, they can increase their capacity. I am hoping that leads to them opening the second set of doors, but I know it will also make it more crowded and harder to social distance. I want to be in and out by 10:30. Then it's home to slice and freeze strawberries. The local food bank donates food to the consumer houses where hubby works, and they had cases of strawberries yesterday. Too many for the houses so all other employees were welcome to take as many as they wanted , a case is plenty, lol. Then it's wait for the stepson to call and say he's on his way, or here, and then spend time with him! Managed to get the whole lawn mowed yesterday and looking nice. Can't believe between the rain and the sun, how much it grew since I mowed it on Monday :( Have a terrific weekend everyone!

6 am and 89 degrees out. Supposed to be 113 today.

10 am we go to DS's house for the family Mulan watching day. DD's favorite!! Postponed so many times, so DS is paying the premium price. I am sure it will be watched a lot at his house.
DGD's Lemon Bars are going over. DD got the huge popcorn bag at the theater last night......and finally a Saturday that is NOT at my house :rotfl:

Pea. I like the fall leaves, pumpkins and decoration photos , but apple pie kit kats -yuck! My favorite flowers are tulips and mums. Was a little disappointed my local fruit market didn’t have any yet, but I guess it is just the first week in sept. Had a fun time at putt putt golf last night with Hubbie and kids. First time for Hubbie this year, but I’ve taken the kids and 1 or 2 of their friends 5times this summer. It was a great way to see friends and still social distance. Looking forward to a small cookout, soccer games, church outside, and a hike this weekend only suppose to be in the 70s. I love fall weather.
